With the power of electricity coursing through me, I’d be powerful if someone could keep me grounded.
Elementals are the rarest of all supernatural creatures, but with all the raw power in them, they are also the most unstable. The most dangerous.
I should know.
I am one.
For most my life I’ve been locked away; held captive by a Lycan clan with no other purpose than to be a walking battery for their village. But when a ghost sets me free, I’m out of there, running for my life.
Thankfully, the Guardians of Castle Viegls are as impervious to the electricity I wield as the castle itself.
Gargoyles.
Twins, Hunter and Knox—one a loveable geek, the other dark and scarred—led by an older gargoyle affectionately called DB because of his physique, have promised they will protect me. And then there's the vampire, Javion. A seething ball of hate … at least when it comes to me …
The Lycans have never taught me to control my powers, and I’m little more than a ticking timebomb with an unseen countdown.
But that countdown is ticking away.
And I’ve got pissed-off Lycans chasing me.
To defeat them, I've got to control my powers. And the only way I can do that is to be grounded.
Grounded is the first book in a trilogy where our heroine is trying to recover from being used as a power source for most of her life. Although she's fractured, she's not completely broken, however, this past abuse may be triggering for some readers. This is a reverse harem series with broody alpha gargoyles, twins, and an alphahole vampire. It also contains MM scenes with two members of the harem already being in an established relationship. Grounded is meant for mature audiences.
I kind of liked this book. I have read similar books and they all tend to follow the same plot, this one also did but it didn't annoy me as the others have.
The heroine is kept in captivity for the last 20 years, she has electricity running through her veins and is used to power up a commune, she keeps hoping to die but lucky she escapes.
A group of guys see her and rescue her. They take her back to their place and offer her shelter, she shares her story and they realize they have a common enemy, the Lycans. They each want revenge.
Some of the things that happened were pretty silly, why will Knox and the other twin ( whose name I've forgotten but too tired to look for) take her into the city when they know people are looking for her. They could get prescription lenses for her to try but didn't think to do that for the clothes ? It just seemed like they were asking for trouble.
I can see why some people like this story, but it fell flat to me. This girl has been kept as a captive since she was 5 years old. She's lived in a single solitary glass cage with only occasional exposure to crime shows on Netflix. Her knowledge belies this upbringing. This is really a book that would have lent itself better to 3rd party narration, because her observations and descriptions of scenes were jarring in the face of what she should know based on her experiences. Then she's apparently just watching Marvel and DC comic movies, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Supernatural to "learn" about the real world. Those aren't exactly the best options for learning anything about life—and definitely explain why she would think it okay to attack whenever she feels threatened—but suddenly she knows way more than she used to; why did the previous shows not really teach her anything except apparently to fear being poisoned when fed?
The glasses thing was odd. Those kinds of choices--and that was not the only one-- really took me out of the story, because it made little sense in the overall context of the world being presented, which seems to be the same as "normal" albeit with hidden supernaturals.
The timing thing also was odd to me. How did she know 20 years had passed? When DB talks about having her stay, she has no concept of how long a month is. How the hell was she able to track time during captivity then?
I also wasn't a huge fan of the development of the romance.
I guess I am going to be that reviewer. BUT what i don't like others DO like. I have seen this novel get 5 star reviews all over the place but I don't get it. It started out confusing, got worse when the shifters just showed up. Towards the end of the book she was doing dumb things like worrying about getting power to a PS4 console. I Do know this a RH novel but outside of the sex the actual interactions between her and the males was decent, and the most likable part of the story. Other than that her attitude, her powers, and the CONSTANT swearing just never came together to make a coherent story , in my opinion. In this case I totally judged and choose a book for having a gorgeous cover, too bad story wasn't as enthralling as what I see on the cover.
When a book makes me so utterly embarrassed that I have to set down my kindle and hide my face with my hands, I know it must be doing something right. And yes, Grounded by Serenity Ackles has one such scene.
The main girl did make me cringe at times, but like... she's been tortured for twenty years, miss girl gets a pass.
I actually wanted Javion to have a quicker redemption. Like chin up, buddy, Zena isn't evil... I don't think?
Also, THE FACT HUNTER NAMED HER AFTER A POKEMON. When I tell y'all I was G-I-G-G-L-I-N-G. Nothing could beat that, wow. Knox having to walk away because he was so livid was actually iconiccccc.
This was like... medium burn. I'm on the sequel right now and so far nobody has done the deed, but emotions have been shared as liberally as their frequent kisses.
Y'all know I love the trope where the guys rescue the girl from a horrible situation. It's my bird brain. This totally scratched that itch. Kinda on Hunted by Erica Woods territory, but not quite as close to my heart.
Eh… It’s pretty good, but there’s a MM relationship within the harem. There’s also a hate-to-maybe love romance but it’s just hate right now. Not even any signs of attraction or chemistry, so the thought of them getting together is just a turn off.
I liked the plot. Female held captive for 20 years, escape, and fights back her torturers. Add the RH trope, and it could be a great book. Except that it fell… flat. She escaped after 20 years with the help of a ghost?entity?who knows? She suddenly finds herself surrounded by guys and first thing she thinks is how beautiful or not beautiful they are. Does she have a concept of beauty since she was imprisoned since was 5 if she can’t even understand concepts like cleanness or that she awas dirty and smelly? It bothered me how the guys were more annoyed at her smell with the constant mention of “gagging” and “nose wrinkling” than worried at why she was such shape. She is also rather articulate for never being treated as human and only seen as power source. She might not know how to read but her vocabulary is impressive considering was she went through. Then, we consider her time after captivity. The guys realize she has triggers and one of them is touching. What the vampire does? Hold her by the neck and tries to kill her because she saw him having sex with the other guy. She reacted by blasting electricity and the main issue is that killed the electronics and not about his over-reaction on her walking in his lair, when she doesn’t even know the directions where they are. In the six weeks she was there before going to town, she only saw one or two of them and spent the time on Netflix. Instead of actively helping her learn about the world, finding out what happened to her, they decided watching Spiderman was more important. They suddenly realize she has no clothes (after TWO MONTHS) and no underwear and decide a trip to town is a smart thing to do. Hello online shopping? And the way she goes with her power on and on in a childish stubborn way? Ok considering she never really grew socially speaking. She doesn’t even understand that removing her clothes in front of someone else is inappropriate and they are kissing her and giving her orgasms in a dark alley. Felt wrong, so wrong.
I absolutely devoured this book. It kept me on my toes til the very end. I loved that I couldn't predict where the story was going to go. The characters are all so different but well written. I felt like I got to know each of them. The story is different than most paranormal romances that I've read and it was a refreshing change. There are some dark instances of abuse so if you have triggers know that in advance. Learning about this world with Zera was fascinating. She had lived a life of abuse and torture as a battery. Finally breaking free to be taken in by 4 men. 3 are gargoyles and one vampire. She can't read, hasn't been able to eat, bathe, or enjoy any of lives smaller treats. She's finally started to come into herself and learning who she is by the end of the story. I seriously can not wait for book 2!

Grounded follows our FMC who doesn’t have a name but is called Battery by her captors. Battery is a elemental, an extremely rare supe that can create lightning. A group of Lycans were using her to generate power for them but with the help of an unknown ghost she manages to escape before stumbling upon a group of gargoyles. From then on she is known as Zera, desperate to seek revenge on the Lycans that tortured her while learning to control her powers.
This is a slow to medium burn paranormal reverse harem, the FMC has suffered unimaginable torture and her story reflects that. I loved the gargoyles as you don’t really see many involved harems and I’m really intrigued what will happen next.
The book grabbed me from the get go. I was a little lost at first when the guys were brought into the story. Not much info was given on them at first. Zera (Battery) was likable and strong. Hunter, Knox, Carter (DB)- gargoyles - were each different but close to each other along with Javion (vampire). Zera's background is a little unknown. Little by little things are figured out. There is action and some steamy scenes. Definitely a must read for someone that likes gargoyles, like me.
Interesting story, slow burn. She has been abused and locked up for as long as she can remember so being free? Something new and scary 4 males, 1 who doesn't trust her... And she holds enough power to knock out a whole city?
This book was so good I couldn’t put it down until I finished it! Serenity is so great at pnr and I absolutely love it. I can’t wait to read more of her books!.

for 500 pages I felt there wasn’t a lot of movement
A lot of confusion. I understand Zera but we broken, and a prisoner for 20 years so almost everything is new and strange. While I feel like I understand her, the dynamic with the four men has me at a loss.
She’s just there. They’re just there. And in 8 weeks all they do is eat and watch movies and have sexual tension. There’s no true attempt to assimilate her. Teach her about the supernatural world or what it means to be a 20 year old woman, or person. She even states that she learned that about supes from Supernatural.
I don’t know how I feel about the let’s just ride it out mentality. We know they aren’t stupid. Heck, DB modifies the bathroom after their talk. they know how to live with and have a relationship with a woman, they just choose not to. The only time things felt real was during parts of their shopping trip, and the glasses gift. But that’s it. I really wanted to like this, but I just couldn’t fully engage.
Oh my goodness! What did I just read? Wow that was unexpected in an entirely good way!
This is the first book of a new paranormal reverse harem series, which means that the female main character (FMC) will end up with more than one guy. This was a new to me Author, so I honestly didn’t know what to expect. I’ve read a lot of paranormal romance/ fantasy books, so it can be difficult for an Author to find a completely fresh take on the genre. Let me just say that this is unique and not what you initially expect.
I read this book without reading the blurb or reviews, as I wanted to read without preconceived ideas. I liked the cover (it’s gorgeous) and enjoy discovering new authors, so I thought I’d just give it a go. So glad that I did! I think this is the best way to experience this book, by just letting the story reveal itself to you without knowing anything about it. Honestly, if you can, just read the story blind as possible so that you can enjoy the reveals on the way. For that reason I’m not going to say too much as I don’t want to giveaway any spoilers. I will say this though, please read the trigger warnings that precede the story so that you can make up your mind if you are okay to proceed. As a reader, I found the first couple of chapters extremely uncomfortable to read. But that’s the point, we are supposed to feel uncomfortable, so that we have context how much this FMC has been through and what she has overcome.
This is a slow to medium burn romance. Once you get past the first few chapters, the story starts to pick up where we have some lighter and even humorous moments between the FMC and the harem. Her Harem are interesting. It’s easy to immediately like 2 of the characters because they are genuinely sweethearts, the other 2 are the angry angsty one and the hot tech nerd to round out the group. Whilst one grows on you through the course of Book 1, as you understand where the angst comes from, the other has yet to make much of a good impression. But we know that has to (hopefully) change as the series progresses.
This is a page turner and you’ll probably be like me and read this in one sitting. The cliffhanger at the end won’t tear out your hair, but will certainly want you to read the next book in the series. I look forward to reading more from this Author in the future.
Thank you to Serenity Ackles for gifting me an ARC through Booksprout. I am voluntarily reviewing this story and all opinions are my own and unbiased.
Yep. You read that right. Complete and utter failure. Can you believe that Serenity Ackles originally intended for Grounded to be a fast-burn standalone?! This is the complete opposite but in the BEST way. Thank goodness that she wasn't able to follow through with her original plans. I cannot get enough of these characters or the storyline. The main female character, Zera, has such a naivety to her. Brought up in seclusion filled with hatred and torture, she is sheltered in her knowledge, but it brings out such beautiful innocence in her. I know I can't be the only reader wishing that I could see everything through her eyes, being able to marvel at the little things that we somehow always take for granted. Zera learns as she goes and absorbs every new piece of information that she finds. She questions everything, sometimes with a brutal honesty, and takes a lot of things literally, adding a touch of humor to the story. But the great thing about all of this? She's not weak. Not at all. She may not know much about the real world and the little everyday things, but she has common sense and an awareness about her that allows her to stay on the right track. Her group of guys is such a great fit for her. They see the results of her trauma and help her adjust in little ways that won't overwhelm her. Through them she is able to learn to trust again. But the story wasn't just focused on Zera alone. With the book being in multiple points of view, we also got to know quite a bit about the guys protecting Zera and gained first hand access to their thoughts, desires, and insecurities. I always love books like this because I like to see what is really going through the character's head, especially when they think one way but act an entirely different way. It just adds to the excitement of the story and the anticipation of when their mind and body finally start to work together instead of having the character fight what they truly want. I can't wait to see where Ackles takes this story and its characters. After that incredibly exciting yet sad cliffhanger, I'm dying to see how Zera brings all of the guys on the same page again. Here's to trusting them all!
Soooo….I probably would have never picked up this series if I knew what it was going to be like. If you’re looking for a romance book then skip this one. If you’re looking for a steamy reverse harem then skip this book. If you just want an action/adventure paranormal type series then you might like these.
The world building in this series doesn’t really happen. It’s supposed to be set in the current world, but with supernatural elements…except other than different supernatural races and vague references to a council we don’t know anything about how the world works. Lycan’s are evil, that’s all the world building we get.
The character building was good. We get to know the MMC’s pretty well and they all have back stories. The relationships were garbage. I saw literally no reason for any of the males to switch from hating FMC to claiming/bonding with her. Where did these feelings come from, and why? We weren’t shown any reason for a change in feelings. There was also no tangible “bond” and there was no definite “claiming”. It’s like they made the decision and that was all. There was no real romance involved.
There were only about three sex scenes with the FMC throughout the entire series. There were two MM sex scenes. The spice in this book is also extremely tame. The few spicy scenes that were included were incredibly short (like pump and done) and only a step beyond ‘fade to black.’

For twenty years she has been locked up in a glass cell just barely big enough for her as the people who held her siphoned her electricity from her body. They tortured her and drained her. But now she's free and the only thing she can think about it getting back there so she can destroy them all.
I am doing this thing right now where I am attempting to read a book by every author I follow, and I followed Serenity Ackles on Tiktok after seeing a video about this series. Or at least I am pretty sure it was this series, the purple cover of the omnibus looked familiar (clearly this is why I am doing this thing) so that's why I picked this series. I didn't remember anything else or had any idea what I was walking into.
Zera, formally known as Battery and 100% named after a Pokemon because Hunter is a giant nerd (which is why he's my favorite even though I am fully a DB girl in real life), is traumatized and doesn't even know it. She has never been in the real world, she has no concept of time or anything really, and when she is rescued by three gargoyles and an extremely reluctant vampire, she has a whole world of learning and healing to do. As such, it makes the book move a little slowly, and considering it is over five-hundred pages, is a bit to get through.
The romance is interesting, she falls for and grows close to each of the gargoyles (and has a healthy hate-hate relationship with the vampire, who happens to be the established mate of Knox) in different ways. Hunter falls hard and fast. Carter (DB) is a little slower, and Knox is reluctant at first but finds himself falling too. Each get romantic moments, but never the full thing, the only person who has the full thing is Knox and Javion, just FYI. And when they all find out she has been involved with each of them somehow...I, too, wanted to join Javion with some popcorn to watch the fallout. It's an interesting spin on a why choose. Made for a fun chapter.
It's going to be interesting to see where this goes. Hopefully the pace picks up in the next book. It ends on a bit of a cliffhanger.
I wish I could give half stars, because I would give this 2.5 stars.
The concepts are what bring me to a story but it's the characters that make me want to stay. I struggled with all of the characters, but most of all the FMC. I understand the situation she grew up in and the influence it had but she's insufferable, she has the maturity and mentality of a 6 year old, which the MMCs love and it's gross. But the issue is that the author then throws in concepts and context that technically the FMC shouldn't understand given everything and throws things off. She's immature, ignorant, and unbelievably naive when the author wants but conveniently intelligent and strong when the author needs to make sure the FMC doesn't die, it's inconsistent.
She also has knowledge of the outside world because of one *ahem* person who watched things while she was in captivity, it's not the best representation but to say she's unaware of a lot of things is ridiculous.
There's little character growth for her. She's supposed to be 25, again she still could have picked up some things and not act like a bloody 6 year old, so why isn't she maturing in the story?
I can tell you I liked seeing an MM in the story, always hot when RH has an MM relationship.
If you like monsters, overprotective MMCs, MMCs that tell her to ask questions but constantly shut her down or don't explain, infantile FMC, MMFMM, and that annoyingly stupid stubborn complex (not in an endearing way) she has then this is the book for you.
im conflicted, the plot seems great and really interesting But i really hate Javion the asshole, and hes the sole reason why im not going to continue this series.
SPOILER ALERT
he repeatedly tells her that he wants to hurt or kill her, or even lock her up he basically assaulted her in two scenes, one where he shoved his tongue down her throat even though she didn't want to He says hurtful things all time, and for some reason dosent believe that she escaped. Clearly lacks empathy and i wished he was kicked out long before he was. And thats my problem with this book, no one of her so called mates care about how he treats her. The most reprimanding he gets is his name being called, they let him treat her like this the entire book up until he lets vampire come to kill her. And then because a ghost say it she has to save him now apparently even though he will probably still treat her like shit. Because of him it drags down the stars and entire premise of the book, i dont want him to grovel because i dont think he should even be considered a mate or in the pack. Theres not enough groveling for how he treated her , and to be honest he will probably continue treating her that way. Im so sick of seeing asshole charcther like this, i want protective men not going to hurt you men. It a shame, i really liked everything else about this book but i cant read about him being a dick once more.
I grabbed this book from the author when perusing through the RH readers group on FB because I hadn't seen an RH with gargoyles before and was intrigued. Also, the premise sounded really good with a bit of magic and a tragic female lead. The lead, she doesn't have a name to start with, is being tortured in a facility and had been for 20 years. She is a power source and the people holding her captive are using her to power their town. She escapes with the help of a ghost and meets up with Hunter, DB, and Knox, gargoyles who hunt Lycans. They take her back to their home and start her healing.
As Grounded is the first in the series, the story revolves mostly around the building of the world that Zera (female lead's chosen name) and her soon to be harem inhabit as well as giving background and personalities to the characters within it. Each of the gargoyles and the resident vampire are interesting and compelling. Zera is an enigma as she is an "elemental", which is a complete unknown entity as well as not knowing where she comes from.
There is good conflict both within the harem and with the Lycans and other supernaturals out to re-capture Zera and the book moves quickly. The heat is low as the harem is still coming together but does include some m/m for spice. I look forward to seeing where this tale goes.
Loved this book, totally impatient for the next in the series. So many questions I can’t wait to have answers for. The characters were fantastic and the journey of the main female character is so amazing, that you feel what she feels. I cried with her and watched her grow and blossom into who she was by the end of the book, like a mother watching over her child. The males all had their individual issues, those issues popped up throughout the story and helped them grow. The paranormal aspect of the whole story was different from what I’ve read before and I loved it. I love coming across a new take on a genre. I honestly couldn’t put it down and ended up yet again with a toddler sleeping on me in my recliner at two in the morning. I was so hoping there would be an excerpt to the sequel at the end but I was left hanging.
I give this a five out of five stars. This story was wonderfully woven with a different take on the paranormal genre. I love the characters and the growth they went through. The reverse harem aspect was also a bonus. I can’t wait to reread this again before reading the sequel whenever that comes out.
*Please note the beginning deals with some dark material such as torture and contemplating suicide, please be aware of this in case of setting off a trigger.

** Cliffhanger Warning! ** **Trigger Warning!** I enjoyed this book. It's a fantasy, slow to medium-burn reverse harem romance. There's lots of cool supernatural creatures discussed, but the main focus is on gargoyles, vampires, lycans (werewolves), and an elemental. Even though it's a fantasy, the main characters don't use magic. Unless you count electricity as magic, which I don't. I liked most of the book, but the beginning and some flash-backs have a lot of torture. That is not easy for me to read, but I knew that Battery/Zera was going to escape.
I love how Zera, the female main character, is trying to understand the world outside of her prison. She's naive and has unique perspectives on so many things. I laughed out loud a few times. The pacing and relationship development is excellent. There's enough suspense and mystery to keep the story going. The male main characters are fascinating, except for the mandatory jerk of the group. I'm conflicted on the ending.
There are a lot of typos. I saw that there was an editor, but they missed some things. At one point, it's mentioned that they are "on the other side of the Atlantic," so I wasn't sure where we were supposed to be. There are some British terms that threw me off of what is supposed to be an American setting.
So, facts first, feelings second. This book has tension that I kind of love between her and the vampire of the group. Our gargoyle guys are cute and each have their own distinct personality. I find some why choose books can have a hard time giving each mate their own unique voice, but not this one. There was humour that balanced out the heavier side of things in the plot, and while our mfc is a little naive due to her lack of socialisation and everything else, she isn't stupid and blindly naive. She's still kick-ass and ready to throw down, even if she's a little confused as to how things work or what a s'mores is lol.
Honestly when I got to the end, I was surprised. I thought maybe the page count was wrong or glitching or something because SURELY I couldn't have already read that many pages?! I have multiple books going at once and I was having a hard time finding something to keep my attention (literally I'm at my max of KU books out at a single time, none past 50% because I'm a mood reader lol) but this book sucked me in. I got to the ending and was shocked to see it was like 500 pages long because it did not feel that long. If I didn't need to sleep last night, I would've finished it all in one sitting, which is wild for me to do. I can't wait to check out more books from Serenity!!
I loved that this RH-paranormal romance was so different than what I expected. From the very beginning, I was hooked. The characters grabbed with what they went through and what they would go through for each other.
In books where the supernatural usually is exploited by humans, but that isn't so in this book. This book starts off with a girl being tortured because of what she is, a rare Elemental. She has spent her whole life in this cage being tortured by these men; she has been given no other name then her worth - Battery. She will die in that cage soon, then all the pain will finally end. Not knowing the outside world, she believes she is being held by monsters, powering a town of monsters just like others before her before they too died. But it all changes when she is freed and the outside world is found to be just as scary as her prison and she soon learns there are different types of monsters. She is rescued and must learn to live, trust, and defend herself because while there is good there is still bad that is trying hard to get her back. Can she learn to trust her rescuers?
I can't wait for the next book.

Refreshing and new concept I like the storyline, it’s new and I haven’t read a version in other books. It’s unique. The heroine is a mix of badass and vulnerable and I like that she’s not a fully developed character from the beginning but that there’s room for development as the story progresses. She’s tenacious, stubborn and strives for justice and vengeance when somebody dare to wrong her or one of the guys. Haha, even though one of them is stubbornly refuses to change opinion.
It’s funny! Zera interprets what the guys is saying quite literally which makes pretty laugh out loud moments. Stop a gay from taking pictures of you using magic? Easy, send out an EMP pulse and take out the power in the whole city😂 The guys..
“At the last minute, he stopped. His lips were millimeters from mine. “Zera, I’m claiming you as mine, which means I’m not going to hurt you, and I’m not going to let any other fucker hurt you.”
Just... wow! Evil lycanthrope, secret labs, ghost, long thought extinct elemental powers, gothic castle with gargoyles.. What more can you wish for? Oh yeah, I forgot! That’s right! The next book😁
What is missing? Nothing concrete, the story just works. ARC book, I always leave my honest opinions.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I devoured this book in one night😳😅 Zeraora (yes, it's a Pokemon's name😂🙈) has bee held captive during 20 years (the most I read about in a book) by the Lycans and used as a battery because she's an electric elemental. When she escaped thanks to the help of a ghost (this past still has to more explanation), she was rescued by four guys. Zera had not any experience of the world. She was in a glass cell from the age of five! Her lack of knowledge and naivetx made her likeable and kind. But she wasn't a fool: she seeked revenge and as soon she recovered and knew more about the world she would kill the Lycans. About the guys, except Hunter, they all had secrets, personnal issues or was assh*le (yes, you Javion😡). Just know that there was a M/M couple in the harem. Anyway, Zera wanted to be with three of them but it was difficult for them, gargoyles, to accept sharing a mate. At one point they agreed but it felt a bit forced and too quick for me...😕 The end wasn't the best part☹️ Come on, a ghost told her to trust the guys and she would do it after being almost killed by vampires because one of them betrayed her???!!! Well, I really hope she wouldn't forget him until the very end of the book or maybe never😡

Grounded is a the first book of a new series by Serenity Ackles and a new author to me. I Love this book!!! Zera, Carter, Hunter, Knox and Javion takes you on a whirlwind of unexpected activities and surprising events catapults those stormy emotions, coiling tightly, bursting to life brilliantly. Magic, drama, emotional abuse, gargoyles shifters, lycans shifters and suspense engage all of your senses while a plethora of twists and turns run rampant. One exhilarating storyline and gripping plot propels this bad boy to life flawlessly. Struggling through all the trials and tribulations along with a few bumps and bruises sending this bad boy skyrocketing. The characters are authentic, relatable and realistic with such depth and individuality it feels as though you can just reach out and touch them. The scenes are graphically detailed and descriptive making it easy to picture each scenario as they play off one another in perfect blance. I can not wait for the continuation in the book.

I enjoyed this story line. It was dark and a little twisted but I still enjoyed it. The character gets where enjoyable. My favorite were actually Knox and Javion. I do wish however that I had seen a little more in depth into the clans relationship. It felt like everything centered around Zera. I get it, she’s the MC. But these 4 men have been together for YEARS and at times it felt like they weren’t really that close. Like they lived and worked together but weren’t really a family. Even their interactions with Zera were regularly separate rather then in a group. Then there’s Zera About 60% through the book and I was getting a little tired of her bravado. Thinking she can take everything out with her power. How’d that worked out for her the last couple of times? Not good, not at all. I get she’s naive and still learning. But damn girl use your brains. Your power hasn’t worked twice today. Give it a rest and listen to the man that has some knowledge. I hope this doesn’t become a constant theme in the storyline….
