Records saved by a Rabbi and passed to an American soldier for safekeeping lead his daughter and an unlikely ally on a dangerous adventure from the Navajo reservation in New Mexico to Washington D.C. in search of a way to return the records to their rightful heirs. With some unexpected help and some even more surprising enemies along the way, there is never a dull moment or a safe one in this tale of intrigue and the search for justice for families of those long dead.
This was a thrilling, heart-thumping book with a surprise romance as well. I could barely put it down at night and raced to pick it up again the next evening! The insights into Native American culture, the Mormon perspective, and the ongoing aftermath for Jewish people post-WWII was absolutely fascinating and really made this a unique and compelling read.
