This is my all-time favorite vegetarian cookbook. My husband, a confirmed carnivoire, loves hamburger while I am not a fan. The recipe that Jeanne has for Black Bean and Red Onion Burgers won him, and the rest of the family, over. The Creamy White Bean Soup with Red Pepper Swirl is a great soup to make and eat on a cold winter's night. I could go on, but if you are looking for a vegetarian cookbook that wraps you in delcious flavors, this is it.

My husband and I received this as a present early on in our cooking career. Such a great book because everything is...well, simple. The author talks you through all prep steps so the beginning cook can succeed. We still use the recipes almost twenty years later.

And no, we're not vegetarian, the meals are just that good.

This book has the most amazing salads and salad dressings -- which didn't seem like anything I would care about (throw some Newman's on the bagged lettuce already!), but Lemlin really has a gift for combining flavors in a salad bowl and each salad I've made from this book has been beyond delicious. The baked goods (almond pound cake, blueberry muffins) are also quite good.

A- Got some interesting recipes from this book; my one complaint with Lemlin is that a lot of her recipes reply heavily on cheese and are not low-fat or necessarily healthy. I can't wait to try her recipes
