I’m marrying the wrong man. And the worst part? I don’t realise it until I meet his brother.
Both Elijah and Jesse are NFL quarterbacks, and their animosity runs deeper than sibling rivalry. When my engagement to Elijah falls apart, I find myself caught in the middle of their bad blood.
I should just walk away. This is beyond scandalous. It shouldn’t matter that Jessy cares about what I think, and he respects what I do. It shouldn’t matter that he makes my body thrum with need. It shouldn’t matter that he’s turning on a part of me that I never knew existed.
I should really, really just leave it all behind.
And I do. I pack my bags and I walk away. It’s over.
… Until I walk straight into Jesse’s arms, and my whole world turns upside down.
Engaged to Mr. Wrong is a sizzling-hot sports romance. If you like billionaire bad boys with hearts of gold, you’ll love this page turner. Grab Book 2 of the Mr. Right Series!
Lilian Monroe lives in a luxurious jungle treehouse surrounded by lush greenery, with an army of scantily-clad men with rippling abdominal muscles ready to attend to her every need.
No, wait. That's not true.
Lilian Monroe spends her days dangling her feet into her pool, while a scantily-clad pool boy with rippling abdominal muscles feeds her chocolate-covered strawberries and massages her back.
Okay, okay. You got me. That's not true, either. Let's try again.
Lilian Monroe lives at home with her two children, three dogs, and twelve chickens. Her husband likes to work shirtless in the back yard. His sweaty, gleaming abdominal muscles ripple with every movement and he—
I'm sorry. I have to stop. Fine, I'll admit it. That one isn't true either.
How about this: Lilian Monroe loves thinking about men with rippling abdominal muscles serving her hand and foot, and she wants you to think about them too! She is an avid reader, writer, and lover of all things romance.
She loves everything from bad boys to billionaires. Her books are packed with sizzling-hot heat, action, suspense, and everything from second chances to single dads. She hates cheating and loves a good happily ever after (and rippling abs).
So Farrah is engaged to star football player Elijah who is an arrogant, cheating jerk and Jesse is Elijah’s star football playing brother who takes one look at Farrah and falls for her.
This was a good read. Not great though as it had a few things I don’t like.
Love triangles. For the first 30% of the book Farrah is with Elijah so there are a lot of hot looks passing between her and Jesse. Regardless of how crap she is feeling with Elijah, I prefer my hot looks between single people. It just felt a bit shitty.
The deterioration of Farrah and Elijah seemed to go on for too long. It was a total downer. I could have lived without it.
Be single. Be yourself. Fall in love with yourself. Forget about men, and stability, and comfort, and marriage, and just do you.
And lastly, I loved some of Farrah’s thinking. It’s a shame she didn’t actually get that time to be on her own before getting together with Jesse.
It was a good story though. Not really any football going on though.
This book was good. I was rooting for both Jessie and Farrah to get together. Plus, Elijah was a horrible person... you could just tell, plus I think he always had no has a hate for his older brother Jessie... if you look at how he acts around the girls he date and his brother.... plus he more likely didn't want half the girls that Jessie was dating he only wanted to ruin whatever Jessie has was good. But neither of those girls was good for him because a REAL girlfriend one that wouldn't cheat would actually tell her boyfriend about his brother nor would she end up making out or doing things (like ***) with his younger brother...
I still want to know what his family had to say about that long cut on Jessie's stomach... I also see that Max never responded... but Farrah was even wrong about doing what she did to Max though, her friend Rachel acted like it was Max fault too... how would any of us know when we have no back story of how both of them treated them.... but anyways it's funny how Elijah tried to ruin things for Jessie and Farrah he was the one who ended up losing everything dear to him, like we all say karmas a B....
Engaged to Mr. Wrong, A Sports Romance, Mr. Right Series: Book 2by Lilian Monroe
Farrah Locklear is a financial manager for a construction company in New York. She is engaged to quarterback, Elijah Matthews.
Jesse Matthews is a quarterback for the New England Patriots and possibly playing for the last year in his career.
Farrah’s relationship with Elijah has always been a rocky one. They have been together for over two years and she doesn’t want to just throw it away. He only cares about himself and most of the time he is flirting with other girls even in front of her. His older brother, Jesse is the complete opposite. He listens to what she has to say, and he treats her with respect. The chemistry is instant between the two and she is surprised no one else can see it. Jesse is completely and utterly attracted to his brother’s fiancé. His brother doesn’t deserve her, and she needs someone who will love her. Someone like him but he is too late. When Farrah catches Elijah cheating with a cheerleader, how cliché, she tells him its over and moves out. Without anything standing in their way, can Farrah and Jesse be together? Can Farrah be that girl?
I think I smiled almost the entire time I read this book. Farrah and Jesse together just make me happy and I don’t mind admitting it in the least. She knows that being with Jesse is wrong on so many levels and that people won’t understand. But in the end, the heart wants what the heart wants. She gave her heart to him when he took the splinter out of her hand. Jesse puts her first and cares about what she wants. He asks about her dreams, her goals. None of the other men in her life ever did that. These are two people that are so perfect for each other and I know I say that a lot, but they are. They raise each other up without wanting anything in return. They make each other better.
I always love a Lilian Monroe romance this sports romance in the Mr Right Series was upbeat, good storyline with likeable characters and just enough intrigue and of course one thing you can’t do without is angst and lots of hot love 💗. Farrah is on her way to meet Elijah’s parents for the holidays. Elijah is self absorbed, ignorant, has a high opinion of himself and basically is me, me, me! What a mistake Farrah has made! She certainly picked Mr. Wrong! But is Mr Right oh so Wrong too? Can Farrah learn to love herself and redeem her choices? I can highly recommend this sports romance. I voluntarily reviewed this book after receiving a free copy
so I am sorta surprised Lillian could get the to accept this romance.
I tent to give poetic license to romance novels. I mean, it is fiction. But when I discovered this is about a Girl, her crappy fiancé, and then the true romantic hero is His Brother. Well I kinda went “eww”. I like that the romance took a while to get going, that they understood the”eww” factor, and it progressed to a nicer romance. One evil brother, verses the sweet brother. It is a fun ride, and a nicer story than the “eww” made me think it would be.
Poetic license aside, I could handle the yucky twist. I mean, it is fiction. Enjoy!
This was a quick read with a good plot. Jesse falls for his brother’s fiance but when that relationship falls apart Farrah starts over in a new city. Jesse and her cross paths in his city, where she just took her dream job. One wild night is all they’ll allow themselves. It the brothers ex-fiancée and she is trying to heal and find herself again. When they find themselves working together on a new project, they force themselves to remain professional but when the project is complete, they allow themselves to fall into those feelings not yet knowing where they’ll end up.
The second book in this series is just as entertaining as book one.
This storyline is easy to enjoy and follow. As much as I enjoyed reading the steamy chemistry and connection between this couple, I knew things were going to turn difficult, and the tension grew and grew!
Farrah "found" herself/self worth again after Elijah, but I kept asking, "did she though?". I'm happy with Jesse and their HEA, and that was my only issue I had with this.
I recommend this author and reading this series in order.
This wasn’t at all what I expected. There was no heat or an interesting story. I was boring and I found my thoughts drifting while I was reading. I thought that I could get over the heroine having she with both brothers no natter how mean Elijah was but I couldn’t. I would still give the author another try because I don’t like to give upon an author after one book. Until next time y’all happy reading.
Farrah is a smart, successful, strong woman except when it comes to her fiance. He's controlling, insensitive, and she's pretty sure he's a cheater too but she's a total pushover doormat when it comes to him and just puts up with it all. She finally meets a great man that wants to show her how she should be treated and loved but unfortunately that man is her jerk fiance's brother, Jesse. If only she'd met him first!
I couldn't put this book down! It was so fun even though they both struggle with whether they should pursue anything with each other. The story just flowed and I could stop reading! I loved both Jesse & Farrah and loved their story!!
I love football player romances! I really enjoyed reading this book. The characters were well thought and believable. Although the angst was a little much, Farrah makes the right choice and stays with Jesse in stead of giving into that Asshole Elijah! All the while looking into her own physique, and learns that she doesn’t need a man to complete her!
Book. There were a few curve balls I didn’t see coming which I enjoyed. Loved the main characters. We’re a few items, like the dog. She would have never left him in hotel without someone walking, feeding him, or next morning after. Other is family drama, no way Parents would have been in denial of sick/disturbed brother. Or at least gotten him help.
Jessie meets farrah 2 years after she gets engaged to his crude brother and when he meets her he falls for her. Have to say the writer did a great job with Jesse who is a dream boyfriend however took a while to warm up to farrah. The parents of both boys were oblivious to their hostile relationship but that said nice romance and enjoyed it.
After reading the first one in this series, I already had formed an opinion ion about Farrah. In this book it is hard to feel sorry for or to have good feelings about her. It does offer lots of twists and unexpected feelings and Jesse is the perfect guy, even though he has feelings for his brothers fiance right from the beginning. On to #3!!
Another fabulous story from Lilian Monroe. Again characters that steal my heart and a story line that always brings a read to my eye. This is one of those stories that I felt should never end and I'll gladly read again.
with a twist to the sibling rivalry & thoroughly well done too. Enjoyed this well crafted story. Excellent linkage to Ms Monroe's Mr. Right Series book 1
This was a good romance story. Love how Jesse and Harrah come together through everything. I was glad Elijah lost in the end. Cute read, good second story. Please give a try
I read the first book and loved it..... then I just had to read book two, I hated Farrah in book one and loved her in book two. I really hope to read more about this couple and the last books couple too. Thank you for a great read.
I read the first book in the series and loved it so I had to continue to this next book. I wasn’t sure if I liked vera in the first book but I definitely left her in a second. And Jesse sounds like a hottie. Would love to read more from these two.
A great story of football. Farrah is engaged to Elijha but meets his brother Jesse at Christmas and Jesse falls in live with Farrah. It really gets Interesting from that point on.
Fun sports rom com. Maybe a little far fetched but I don’t mind rooting for a jerk to get his due. This is book 2 of a series but all books can be read on their own.
Cheating nfl quarterback loses his fiancé. Fiancé is surprised by his brother and eventually they become involved. There were parts that I enjoyed but overall just a meh book.
Fun, sweet romance with drama only between outside characters, not between the romantic interests. A nice easy read for when you want something Feel Good.
I really did love Farrah and Jesse together. Jesse was so sweet and understanding while Farrah was able to learn more about herself and turn into her best self.
Loved reading the second book in the Mr. Right series. When Farrah meets her fiance's family, she feels a deep attraction for Elijah's older brother, Jesse. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and a must read story.
