Lilian Monroe lives in a luxurious jungle treehouse surrounded by lush greenery, with an army of scantily-clad men with rippling abdominal muscles ready to attend to her every need.
No, wait. That's not true.
Lilian Monroe spends her days dangling her feet into her pool, while a scantily-clad pool boy with rippling abdominal muscles feeds her chocolate-covered strawberries and massages her back.
Okay, okay. You got me. That's not true, either. Let's try again.
Lilian Monroe lives at home with her two children, three dogs, and twelve chickens. Her husband likes to work shirtless in the back yard. His sweaty, gleaming abdominal muscles ripple with every movement and he—
I'm sorry. I have to stop. Fine, I'll admit it. That one isn't true either.
How about this: Lilian Monroe loves thinking about men with rippling abdominal muscles serving her hand and foot, and she wants you to think about them too! She is an avid reader, writer, and lover of all things romance.
She loves everything from bad boys to billionaires. Her books are packed with sizzling-hot heat, action, suspense, and everything from second chances to single dads. She hates cheating and loves a good happily ever after (and rippling abs).
Hero & heroine have secrets. This is an insta-love story with no characters development which made it into a non-romance with characters that were just bland.
Safe read. No OM and some OW drama as mentioned in spoiler. Other then that, there is no sex scenes with OP. No rape or BDSM.
The story of physio Megan and NFL star Andrew was a light and fluffy read. Just what I need with a cold. I sneezed my way through it in a few hours. It lacked the character depth I usually enjoy but it’s quite a short book so I embraced it’s lightness.
I’m a bit sad I’m at the end of this series now. I felt that this one was better than its predecessors, probably because it was funnier and more lighthearted.
Megan has a crappy family who disowned her after she refused to marry someone, forcing her to finance her own way through college being a ‘sugar bunny’. I have no idea what that really is but it’s basically an escort for old people. They then disowned her for her salacious job for the next six years before inviting her home for the wedding with no real explanation. Tenuous.
Andrew was great and had his own guilty secrets. He too was a dick about the sugar baby thing but he did apologise and own up to his actions which went a long way to redeem him. I loved that he baked for Megan and was so smitten by her.
The whole wake up in Vegas married storyline worked well. I loved that they were both so sick when they woke up. I enjoyed the humour in her sister’s wedding and the sexual tension was great. Although, yet again, it’s more or less instalove, these two keep getting interrupted when they are about to get it on which I love. By the time they actually got together it was pretty hot. So on that basis i’m upping it from three to four stars.
But it did have a few bug bears. The main one being hello? No football? This entire series avoids a football pitch like the plague.
Unbelievably baddies. They were just caricatures. You don’t have to be 110% a bitch. I prefer a more real bitch. You know, 90% bitch is more realistic. I could see why you might still hang around with someone who has the potential to redeem themselves 10% of the time.
A weak heroine. Megan has to go to her nasty sister’s wedding which made no sense to me really as her family were all such dicks. Why in earth would you bother going to a wedding and let everyone talk trash to you like that? It just made me find Megan a bit weak for taking it. Me? I’d have punched her sister in the face before the wedding rehearsal was over.
And Andrew’s ex, Hannah... I just think you have to tread carefully if you imply someone’s bad behaviour is based on mental illness. Mental illness has enough stigma attached to it before you go and say someone’s batshit crazy and mean because ‘oh, they have x condition’.
But, all that aside, it was a great end to the series.
Engaged to Mr. Perfect, An Accidental Marriage Romance, Mr. Right Series: Book 3 by Lilian Monroe
Meghan Ainsworth is a Physical Therapist living in New York. Her family disowned her six years ago after she caused a scandal and didn’t fall into line with their wishes.
Andrew Davis plays football for the New York Giants with the possibility to be the starter wide receiver. Life would be great if it wasn’t for the ex-girlfriend extorting money from him to keep her quiet in his past.
Meghan is just about to turn thirty. She has a great career, good friends but her relationship status is a big zero and she is on her way of becoming a cat lady. To make herself feel better she heads to the coffee shop for a piece of banana bread, but she finds out that tall dark and yummy just bought the last piece. She confronts him with eyes blazing and Andrew can’t help but be impressed. Most of the time people are awe-struck with him and get tongue tied but not her. All he wants to do is kiss her and possibly some other things to. When he finds out that she is his new Physical Therapist he can’t help but grin because now she will touch him. The attraction is intense and downright lethal. They agree to keep it professional but a drunken trip to Vegas finds them married. With his team’s reputation on the line after a previous scandal that hasn’t completely dissipated, do they stay married? All things point to yes, but things don’t stay calm for long when juicy stories from both of their paths could come out and ruin everything. Can they trust each other with their secrets or does this new marriage fall into a short-term relationship?
The pain that Meghan goes through from her family is downright cruel. Just because she wont fall in line with what they believe, they criticize her and make her feel less about herself. She is a much better person away from them and I think she finally realizes it after going home with Andrew. He see’s the pain they cause her and wants to defend her every time they cause her pain. He is her knight in shining armor so to speak. They click from the very beginning and it feels almost natural to them. He and his family accept her without question, and it amazes her as well as humbles her. Plus, he bakes her the award-winning banana bread. What more could a girl ask for?
I think I have a new favorite author in Lillian Monroe! I have read more than a few of her books and I didn’t dislike any and really liked most!
Engaged to Mr. Perfect is the 3rd book in the Engaged Series and Perfect is by far the best in my opinion. I avoided reading Perfect for sometime because I was really over the fake/accidental boyfriend, fiancé, husband trope. However, Perfect pleasantly surprised me and should be a model for how to put an interesting twist on the overused fake marriage trope all while creating passion and just the right amount of angst.
Engaged to Mr. Perfect pretty much reuses Mr. Right’s exact same trope and meet-cute, but some kind of way Monroe makes it feel new. Perfectly brings together All-Star NFL Wide Receiver Andrew Davis and his Physical Therapist Meghan Ainsworth. The attraction between Andrew and Meghan is instant despite her initial verbal attack of him over banana bread…lol. Andrew is immediately smitten and jumps at any chance to spend more time with Meghan, including accompany her to Vegas for the weekend to attend her sister’s wedding. So you can guess “what” happens, but “how” it happened had me laughing out loud! The sister’s wedding fiasco was so hilarious!
Both Andrew and Meghan have pasts and crazy people that threatens their relationship, but how they resolve and handle these issues was very satisfying and didn’t leave me wanting for anymore or less. Like I said Perfect!
My only criticisms is that I wanted to learn more of Andrew’s and Meghan’s backstories. From the implications, you can almost guess their backstories, but Andrew’s character was so likable that I wanted to know more. I also wanted to know a bit more about how Meghan survived being disowned by her horrific family. While I appreciated how short this book was, it could have easily been lengthened by one hour to flesh out these character details. Other than this, Perfect was an excellent, steamy, laugh out loud, ROM-COM/Contemporary Romance!
Ahhh. I like this book. It was kind of annoying though it was funny. Annoying meaning “marriage in Vegas when they were drunk” that’s like every author goes too. It’s pretty annoying when it comes to that storyline... but I was glad that the book was still good even though the marriage crap was ridiculous... but what came out of their Vegas trip was Andrew and Meghan ruining Meg sister wedding it was hilarious when the dove poop on her sister Nadine or whatever he name is head. That was priceless.
I thought that Nadine actually deserved it; because clearly, you could see that Meg family disliked her regardless of her being a sugar daddy when she was young in college to her being a physical therapist as an adult. They didn’t want to work anything out. & it’s ridiculous how they wanted her own dove duty when they didn’t like her to begin with... with her family being evil villains I said at least she’ll have Andrew family who shows love and show that they cared... you see that his mom didn’t disown him for what he did when he was young and in college when he told her over the phone.
But at least they got themselves clear of Hannah trying to ruin both of their lives.. that girl clearly had a problem, and bipolar mental illness isn’t a joke... at least Andrew hot is 2.1 million back and Hannah got the help that she needed...
Book 3 in the Mr Right Series is an amazing read that ticks all the boxes for me! Blackmail, extortion, hot scenes, nightmare families, and dark secrets. A great storyline that is oh so believable, that I bet a lot of readers can relate to with their parents and in-laws! Meghan a physiotherapist meets her new client NFL player Andrew Davis who has a shoulder injury, an instant attraction for her but she will not give in to it as he is her client and taboo! They agree to do one another a favour as arm candy, he will go as her plus one to her sister’s wedding in Vegas if she will go to his family reunion in San Diego afterwards. What can go wrong LOL! Can they keep it professional with their arm candy rules? Will Andrew be able to keep silent with her rich and greedy family? Can Meghan open up and tell Andrew her past secret? Can Andrew do the same with his shameful past? The dove scene had me in such fits of laughter, I could picture it in my mind so clearly. Well done Lilian for such a funny romantic and loving read once again one I can highly recommend! I voluntarily reviewed this book after receiving a free copy
A wacky love at first sight romp that is a fun yet sexually frustrating tale of exchanging of +1 favors to family events. What happens in Vegas... like a ruined sister's wedding, pink attack doves, an emotionally cruel family and a huge pink dress. And...of course there's the drunken wedding...
Things seems hunky dory until big huge skeletons walk out of these kids' closets. Uh oh.
***May contain spoilers*** A short and sweet romance Andrew is a NFL who is being extorted by his ex And Meghan is a physio who is a family outcast due to her gig as sugar baby during college. When Andrew accompanies Meg to her sister's wedding they accidentally end up getting married and now they are both blackmailed by the ex
I finished book one so fast and then the next one ... I had to read book three . Now usually when the first two are so good the next one won’t be.. well that’s not the case with this series every book I’ve read is amazing I absolutely loved them my only complaint is I’m done, and I want more. Thank you for such a great read.
Hysterical. Snickered and laughed out loud in many spots. Loved how they met and there interrupting almost kisses, were funny. Enjoyed getting to know the characters and definitely want to see her and his single friend in a future book.
Lilian Monroe knows sports rom com. She makes me laugh out loud while really rooting for her underdog characters. This is book 3 in a series but characters minimally overlap so it can be read separately.
It’s like that old saying “ saving the best for last. I would have to say this is my favorite in the series. I have been enjoying this series and it’s sad to see it go. Would love to read more of these characters.
Third in the series and starts off well but then it seems to go off track. Feel the end was a bit rushed and megs family drama just got ignored. Good but could have been better.
I enjoyed this book. I loved the relationship between Meg and Andrew. Both hiding a past, but coming together to make a future. The book was filled with lots of emotion, but was fun to read.
This story was not like most. It had a solid plot, very likeable main characters, and a bad girl ex. Best of all, the sexual tension was great. I was really rooting for this couple.
