Part way in, I felt pretty discouraged that I wouldn't be able to do the diet changes, and I already eat very healthfully. But by the end, a bigger picture was presented that seemed less daunting. I look forward to repairing my gut!

Informative

Lots of good information here, but the recipe portion is a little lacking. I would have liked a more detailed list of foods that are gut friendly and those that aren't, at the end of the book, so it's easier to find. Overall, a good read, though.

If you are working on improving your health, I suggest you read this book. If you are dealing with gut issues, you will find lots of good information. If your health concerns are not in this area, you can still benefit from reading the book. One interesting fact I learned is that we are probably treating symptoms and not the root cause. I suggest reading the book all the way through and then working through the information, applying what you learn.

This book was so interesting and full of good information. I got this from the library, but I'm going to buy it so I can reread all of good food lists. I'm so excited to have a healthy gut.

Another great book on my health journey, he does seem to repeat key topics thru out the book. He provides lots of good helpful information on how and what to eat instead of talking around it. Fiber comes up again as a important aspect of gut health but overall health in general, I need more fiber.

I strongly doubt the validity of his methods. He did bring up some things that led me to research though, even if my research led further and further away from his claims.

I have Dr. Colbert's book on Stress published in 2005 in my personal library and thought it was very practical concentrating on your thinking and training yourself to make a conscious decision to choose a better attitude. Easier said than done of course. This book along with his others is filled with information and stories that can apply to your personal life and journey to a better health. He is careful not to make the outlandish claim that he has the final answer on everything, but the book does exude confidence that you can take charge of your health particularity as it relates to diet and a proper medical analysis of symptoms. My primary enemy currently is constipation and that is addressed in various spots of the book including recommendation on supplements and things to do. He has various lists and meal recommendations throughout the book including the healthy foods section in chapter 9. I am particularly interested in the psyllium husk powder that can be found easily online and mentioned in several spots in the book. The appendix items at the back of the book were resourceful, which included healing foods, common probiotics, foods that contain gluten (bad for you), gut-friendly supplements and a histamine elimination food list. All food for thought if you will.

Informative read organized into three parts over 12 chapters. The appendix items at the back of the book were resourceful, which included helpful foods, common probiotics, foods that contain gluten, gut-friendly supplements and a histamine elimination food list.
