Our Maker Life—the beloved knit and crochet collective that has become an engaged movement—presents a much-anticipated volume of patterns and stories to tempt their thousands of followers and makers everywhere
The Our Maker Life (OML) community consists of knitters, crocheters, yarn dyers, makers, business owners, pattern designers, bloggers, and social media influencers who are dedicated to creating handmade items. What began as an idea to hop offline and meet up in person has grown into an international community of makers passionate about the fiber arts. Their mission? Join together to network, connect, inspire, and make. There’s a growing desire for more content from the Our Maker Life community, and the group has become a household name in just four years. After self-publishing two story and pattern collections, OML is building on their success and speaking to a wider audience with this first book—drawing attention to the potential that exists among the makers of the world. OML has big ambitions and it’s their motivation that makes them such an exciting and aspirational group. Their book offers, firsthand, the joy and fun of creating work by hand, and it will inspire readers with its empowering message of embracing creativity for a better everyday life—and a better world.
Like everyone else I really enjoyed the stories of the makers, so inspirational, and I learned a lot about their lifestyle However, the designs are not so great The collection is strange, after reading all these stories you imagine that the collection of designs should be really special and interesting but actually most of them are simple, dull and boring, you might find similar designs when you search for free designs on google I think I'll make the headband and that's it
I appreciate the intentions of this book but I found it pretty light on for useful information. The first 105 pages are purely 'Inspiration and Tales', which is somewhat interesting but gets repetitive. This section included photos of items that I wanted to see the patterns for. Then we get to the 15 patterns, none of which grabbed me. My favourite photos from the maker introductions did not feature in the patterns section. In particular, I was disappointed there was no amigurimi pattern by Karina Agustina or Colorwork Yoke sweater by Weichien Chan. A nice concept but a bit thin in execution - I'm glad I only borrowed this from the library.
a look at a number of fiber makers - some of whom I already follow and some who are new to me and patterns by them. I am trying the no sew socks - otherwise the patterns werent as exciting as i hoped
The main author may be the absolute worst writing I have actually slogged through. A couple of the anthology writers had a hint of story telling skill, but the majority did not and the patterns are uninspiring and basic. Terrible book and an absolute waste of time.
