Class Clown Fish

Rate this book
When a silly prank lands Squizzard in deep trouble, he comes down with a case of the barnacle blues. Instead of going to the Coral Carnival with his friends, he'll have to do the swim-possible and turn Seaweed Elementary's junk-filled basement into an activity room for after-school clubs. But there just may be hidden treasures to discover if Squizzard can stop all the funny business long enough to find them...

There's some fine underwater silliness going on here! (Not to mention some pretty awful puns!)

After playing a nasty prank, Squizzard earns himself a time-out in school detention: he'll be spending the time helping the school crossing guard clean out the basement.
description
(Her name is Principal Kraken - tee-hee!)

Unfortunately, that means Squiz is going to miss the annual Coral Carnival. It's enough to make a red squid blue, I tells ya!

Every so often, the author interrupts the hijinks for a brief panel featuring a portrait and facts about real-life undersea denizens. Way to make learning fun, Mr. Sherry.

I enjoyed this one way more than I thought I would.

Now I'm goin' fishin' for the first book in the series.

I received a copy of this book via the publisher. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of this review.

Class Clown Fish
by Kevin Sherry is the second book in the Squidding Around graphic novel series for kids featuring Squizzard. In this installment, Squizzard plays a prank on his teacher that lands him in detention. Detention means no going to the carnival that is in town for a week. Set with an impossible task of cleaning out the elementary school's basement to make a space for the new after-school program, Squizzard may find what he was looking for all along.

Final Thought: Engaging and funny, Class Clown Fish teaches an important lesson on how to treat others as we would want to be treated.

Graphic Novel
I received an electronic ARC from Graphix through Edelweiss+.
Squizzard and friends are back for another adventure. This time Squizzard learns a hard lesson about pranks that go too far and ends up in detention. While helping to clean up the school basement, he learns several lessons about empathy and working toward goals. The brightly colored artwork lets readers feel like they are swimming along with the gang. Plenty of humor that elementary level readers will enjoy. Looking forward to further adventures.

I read an ARC of this from Edelweiss.

This graphic novel provides nonfiction facts about ocean wildlife and coral reefs sprinkled throughout a very relatable children’s story about how to treat others and how to create your own zine style booklet. Students may be inspired to create their own zine or newsletter using the easy instructions at the end!

After playing a nasty prank, Squizzard gets stuck in detention and has to miss the Coral Carnival. Squizzard makes a lot of character growth in this second installment (more than is perhaps believable?) and learns to channel his creative energy in a positive way. This graphic novel is full of fun ocean puns (with interesting facts interspersed throughout) and a DIY newsletter activity at the end.

Squizzard plays a prank on his teacher which lands him into detention. But the detention doesn't turn out to be so bad after all but a good time to learn new things.

A book ideal for children of age group of 5 to 11. The book combines elements of humour, a good plot and moral lessons.

I liked this one better than the first. The message wasn't as preachy and the fish facts were less awkwardly placed (still a little bit awkward though). In this one, Squizzard learns about taking pranks too far, hurting other people, consequences, and also showcasing your talents.

Cute little tale here. I found it slightly annoying for the sea creature facts to be in the middle of the story instead of the back or front but otherwise pretty good.

Sorry mr sea cucumber sitting on a lower grade pufferfish gotta hurt.
THAT SMERK VS AN FIREY STARE! It’s nice how they made a replica of the coral carnival for squizzard and dunk mr sea cucumber in kelp WOW! My favourite part was when they dunked mr sea cucumber in kelp and least favourite part was when squizzard went to detention and principal kraken wow she can swap to nice to angry in less than a second.

The book is funny and I like that also the fact that there is a carnival in the book reminds me of the book fare that I do a school
