I read this at my job with a first grader and I just pointed to pictures of cute Pokémon and said “I like this one” and he said “no you don’t” so altogether a great experience.

The book gave loads of information about nearly every pokemon!
It's also in alphabetical order so that's helpful!
The pokemon information include:
● Their name
●Their category
● Their type,
● Their description,
●How to say their name,
●Their hight and weight,
● Their possible moves
● Their evolutionary form!

This year marks 25 years of Pocket Monsters aka Pokemon starting with Red & Green originally released on the Game Boy in Japan

I spotted the 25 anniversary edition at a local EB store. Well it kinda looked like a 25th anniversary edition its hardcover is a lot different between whatI picked up at EB games & when I 1st saw the image at the QBD Booktopia & Dymocks websites. Man so weird

But that didn’t matter. Coz it gives you the information about a lot of Pokemon from Red Green Blue & Yellow on Game Boy to Sword And Shield on Switch from 2019 fully updated from the 2018 version… which I haven’t got

While there may be some errors in this book it’s good to learn about Pokemon for both adults kids

For the Pokémon fanatics in your life, big and small this is a great guide. Listening to my kids talk about Pokémon was like trying to decipher another language so I decided to grab their book and learn about it for myself. 😊

The national 'Dex numbers are missing but otherwise a great guide. It could be enhanced with all the different forms (regional, gender, etc) and only goes up to number 890 (Eternatus) rather than the full 1,008+, but that would make for a much bigger tome and this is massive in itself. It's been very interesting to read, and to use whilst playing both Pokémon Go and the TCG. My copy now has scribbles and note flags all over it!

Brings me back to my trading card days. I loved seeing the Pokémon photos all over again, it was like a vivid memory. I wish I had my trading cards still and original pocket handbook. Which I did, but passed down and no longer have them! Tear.
This is a great read, none the less. I just wish they wrote in the captions how they evolved.

The book is incredible, the pictures are wonderful and it has every Pokemon in it. It shows their evolves, some info on each one including their attacks and what region they're from. It even has a phonetic spelling, so they can learn how to pronounce each one.

A firm favourite of both my sons, aged 6 and 10. It's given them many hours of fascination, similar to an actual encyclopedia.

The pronunciation guide is one of the best features.

Although the "taglines" (the ____ pokemon) often seem random, often this adds to the charm.

It is fine, but could be useful if they are ordered according to their number instead of alphabetically. This will be compliant with the Pokedex.

God this was boring, but my 6 year old sat quietly and listened to every single page. If your kids into Pokemon and you want him to read it's a great choice.

Informational, but based on the online and not the card game

Great index of all the Pokémon! Includes the name, category, type, description, pronunciation, height and weight, moves, and evolution. Even includes some newer Pokémon like Zygarde.

I like it, as a fun artefact of Pokemon to paw through. Listing them in alphabetical order, for me, feels more natural than purely in game order (which I would find immersion breaking). The snippets are charming, lifted from the Pokedex of Sword/Shield generally.

As a game companion, this is far worse than the internet. Doesn't list the levels moves are learned at, or type advantage/disadvantages, etc.

I'd love something that pushes the concept a bit further in the fantasy direction, as I can imagine a book which writes more about where they live and how they interact. This isn't a guide book, so I'd love to see an edition which leans further into fantasy encyclopedia territory.
