Summer Boyfriend #2

Axel in Heaven

Rate this book
Heaven
One year ago I was jilted by my fiance when he ran off with my biggest nemesis. Now, my friends have booked the ultimate getaway to one of the places I’ve most wanted to visit. Hawaii. To my horror, I discover that our travel plans are courtesy of using my ex’s wedding discount. Instead of lushing off tropical concoctions and hula dancing near the fire, I must ensure I’m not seen as the woman who’s crazy enough to crash an ex’s wedding. Thinking fast, I see only one plausible plan—proposition the Norse God emerging from the ocean.

Axel
I ran to Hawaii to avoid drama in my world. I’m having trouble recognizing my life, and I have the added misfortune of having a mole planted somewhere in my organization. With my secrets spilling faster than water from a broken dam—I reach for the only thing that gives me peace—my board. Sadly, I find surfing doesn’t soothe me like it used to. It appears my luck is turning when a sienna beauty asks for help. She’s just the distraction I need.

Francesca Penn lives in Texas with her husband and son. While obtaining her Technical Writing degree, a creative writing course and play-writing elective reawakened her desire to create stories. Her brain lives in fiction; even the songs she listens to become music videos in her head.

When she is not writing, she can be found hounding her loved ones with multiple "What-if" scenarios. As a true closet romantic, she is prone to filling up her DVR with Hallmark movies. A friend once told her that she'd trained the whole 20 plus years she'd known her to write romance since her nose was always in a love story.

Francesca believes that love is colorblind and plans to provide a mix of couples of different races and ethnicities because - to her - men are like Skittles, and we all know their motto.

10 Stars!
I needed this book in my life and I loved every bit of their journey.

Heaven Leigh looks to reboot her life with just a little help from her well-meaning, but slightly conniving (in a good way) best friends, Keri (persona: schoolmarm) and LaToya (persona: sexy siren).

While on vacation, Heaven encounters her ex-fiance and his man-stealing bride-to-be in Hawaii, Heaven needs an antidote to ward off their special brand of crazy. She finds exactly what she's looking for in the body of a Thor look-alike, named Axel Behr who emerges from the ocean just like a Greek God. He sees the desperation on her face, culls a few details and is able to easily submerge himself in the character of her hot boyfriend.

Let me tell you, their chemistry is off the charts, and it's not of matter of never, but when the deed will happen. Nope, I'm not going to tell you how hot the sex was and how I had to wait for my Kindle to cool off so it could stop burning my fingers. No lies! This couple could not be restrained. This story had it all! This is as far as I'm going to take you in this review, except to say that the comeuppances in this story were thoroughly delicious.

Okay, one final thing, the heroine has the coolest friends I think I've ever had the pleasure of reading. Their support is unwavering for Heaven and each other. Read the bar scene near the end of the book and what LaToya tells Keri. Love them girls! I need Keri and Beau's Story (hint, hint) and then LaToya and Bohdi, please and thank you for your consideration. Insert BIG grin here. That. Is. All.

Highly, highly, highly Recommended: Read It!

UPDATE: Beau's Story is next! He was paired with a woman that doesn't make an appearance in this book. His book is available for pre-order on AMZ!

Note: This story is highly erotic with details and I enjoyed every minute of it!

DNF! Can someone please explain how this book is rated so high? Like… am I reading the same thing as everyone else?? 😭The writing? Below average. The dialogue? Very cringe, trying to be witty!
It honestly reads like a 15 year old’s wattpad fantasy trying way too hard to be clever… and missing the mark completely.

This is their dialogue after meeting 46 seconds ago!

“Hi,” she says awkwardly. She glances over her shoulder before returning her eyes to me; her face is set with a little more determination. “I can’t help but point out that you look like—”
“Thor?” I supply not feeling the usual irritation I would normally feel from the comparison. She blinks then nods. “Sorry,” I say, moving in closer, invading her space. “I’ve seemed to have misplaced my helmet and hammer.”
I mean to intimidate her with my size, so she can get to the point. Instead, her eyes roam over my bare chest with unguarded interest. She licks her lips nervously and peeks over her shoulder again. She smells sweet like one of those Bath and Body Works sprays. I can’t place it, but I like it.
“How tall are you?” she queries, distracted.
“Six-six. You?”
Her eyebrows inch up. “Wow. I’m five-eight. You’re like a big, sexy man-tree.” Her eyes dart over her shoulder again then back to me.
“Man-tree?” I repeat, amused.
“Yeah,” she nods like it’s obvious. “You know, man-tree—totally worth climbing.”

I’m sorry, who is this? Johnny Bravo talking to one of his admirers? 😅🙈

1. Who even talks like this to a complete stranger?
2. You mean to tell me a guy is that familiar with Bath and Body Works?😂

Yeah, this one’s a no from me, thank you very much! Bye!

A vacation hook up turns into a full blown romance. I like these types of romance books. Especially when you have two very sexual insatiable characters. Their desire for one another is OFF THE CHARTS. I also loved Heaven's friends! Man, I wish I had friends like Keri and LaToya. These girls are amazing! I don't think I've read a better developed friendship between women in a romance novel before, like ever. Nothing like this. Okay, so about Axel and Heaven. In my head they look like Sean Culkin and Zuri Hall. I loved their banter and chemistry. They were just a fun couple to read about and the sex scenes?? Bayybee!! Francesca Penn did that. I am also a big fan of the tie in with King Elle's characters Tini, Tennessee and Tucker! Anyway, this is a great book. I recommend!

I loved it!

I think I might like this book even more than book 1. Lol
Axel and Heaven were couple goals even when they were pretending. When the pretending stopped, they handled their feelings like adults without being quiet about it. I enjoyed that.
The villains got what they each deserved. Yay!!!
Heaven’s girlfriend are the best. They have her back 100%
I can’t wait to read Beau’s story and I surely hope Latoya and Bodhi get their own book.
Over all this book was worth the 5 star rating and I’d definitely recommend reading this book.

3.8🌟

Axel and Heaven are two very endearing characters who meet on a beach in Hawaii by happenstance. Heaven walked up to him and asked him to help her out of a jam. While Axel and Heaven were strangers, it was obvious that there was some connection between them. It was not insta-love—just two people who like what they see and acknowledge their lustful feelings. They are a fun loving couple. Heaven’s friends provided wonderful comic relief as well. I loved them, even if Latoya was loud and vulgar.😬

The villains in the story are vile and vicious, but with Axel and his friend Beau working together, as well as Heaven's critical intervention when Axel was under attack, they each got their comeuppance--very satisfying.

Alright, I’m putting it out there—this was a straight-up f*ckfest and pretty explicit 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥for those inquiring minds. As I read the story, the sexcapades had a tendency to overpower the plot. Simply put, it is too much of a good thing in this instance. The plot and story arcs are captivating, and they keep the reader fully engaged. To further enhance the enjoyment of the book, a more balanced approach would have been most effective. Also, there were some editing issues, but I rarely noticed because as I was reading, I was also worrying about whether I had enough ice cubes to last. 🥵 Whew!

All things considered, this was an exciting book, and I fell in love with the good guys. Axel and Heaven have beautiful qualities—honesty, integrity and loyalty. They are genuinely likable characters and so are Heaven’s girlfriends. It’s a very worthwhile read taking into consideration the level of sexual activity in the book.

BTW, there may be a trigger for some near the end of the book (Chapters 35, 36 and part of 37).

This story was awesome! I read the one after this first (Carwrecked) and was not aware of Axel and Heaven and their friendship with Beau until the end of that book. I had to read this one to find out more about Axel and Heaven and how they met! Whew! Heaven had a nasty and immature ex-fiance who was truly delusional! Also, his fiance was also an enemy of Heaven and did everything she could to torture Heaven! Heaven has very good girlfriends (LaToya and Keri) who provided support during her difficult times. I had suspected that Axel's assistant in his company was also crazy so it was not surprising that she just would not stop in trying to get him! Very good drama! LOL! Francesca Penn now has me as a fan of her writing!

Oh My Word!!!

What can I say...! Adel and Heaven are my absolute favorite in this series, and do love them ALL. I didn't read them in the normal sequence, I read Beau and Celeste(book 3) ... Not sure why I skipped this one, I read too much... Anyway, this book is "FABUTASTIC", so much involved and there is a "naturelleness" to it.
Together, you are plain MAKE SENSE, your chemistry is out of the chart and to quote Axel:
"
Axel is beyond amazing, and I feel for him... (No spoiler), and Heaven you are Awesome. I love those friends of yours, we all need a Latoya and Kari in our lives. Ride or Die kind of friends!
Dre and Ashley, you deserved each other...A life of misery!

This was a pleasant surprise. I am not sure how I saw this book, but I just added it to my tbr shelf this week. I kind of thought it’d be a dnf, but I was going to try it out, sooooooo good. It’s a interracial couple which plays pretty heavily (but there’s no real racism). She asks him to be her fake boyfriend the first minute they meet. And they’re soooo cute. And sooooo sweet. And have great communication, other than one misunderstanding 88% through the book. And it’s resolved pretty quickly. Fantastic, vacation fling, fake dating, turned real, romance. Super enjoyable. The characters were funny, smart, sweet, and successful. I dig it.

Love Never Fails

Axel, while contemplating his life and lost in thought, is being perused by Heaven who eventually comes to him for salvtion from her ex fiance and the jealous man stealing woman he's about to marry. Heaven, always one that communicates effectively, observed Axel's assistant who has betrayed him and is obsessed over him. These issues play out in a fun, sexy, amorous tale about two people who find they are perfect for each other. Can't wait for Beau's tale!!!

What was this? 😟

I seriously tried but I couldn’t do it. Every woman who isn’t Heaven’s friend (and I do mean every. single. woman) is described as a ‘whore’ and a ‘bitch’ and ‘definitely out to steal Axel’ like come on.

Every interaction Heaven and Axel had with Dre (her ex) and Ashley (his fiancée who he cheated on Heaven with) was so cringeworthy I almost dropped it. Like I can tell they were meant to show just how over them Heaven was but it came off a little....yeah.

Heaven’s friend literally booked a trip at the same resort, at the exact same time as them with their wedding discount which still doesn’t make any sense to me. Like how could she have gotten access to that information? How did Dre and Ashley not notice when their bill was nearly 1000 dollars more than it should have been? Also Ashley’s hatred of Heaven was just completely over the top like every single decision she made somehow led back to Heaven. It’s crazy.

What really made me drop it was Heavens first interaction with Axel’s assistant. She does a semi-grand gesture and shows up to Axel’s job unannounced and when his personal assistant who literally knows his schedule like the back of her hand tells her to gtfo and schedule and appointment, the assistant is somehow ‘incredibly rude’ and a ‘bitch’? Like at this point in the story it’s been acknowledged multiple times that Axel is semi-famous (at least famous enough for paparazzi to follow him around and for TMZ to report on him) why would they just let some random woman in to meet him that they’ve never heard of or seen before? Like come on Heaven, let’s think these things through. Oh and the assistant is also in love with Axel, because of course she is.

OMG, this book was crazy good!!!

This is how I like to read a book that is a romantic comedy that is hot as phyre and full of DRAMA. Francesca wrote a book that kept me laughing at Heaven, Keri, and Latoya. Those girls were the epitome of good girlfriends BBFs that had each other's backs. The sexual tension between Heaven and Axel was so thick you could cut it with a knife. When they did finally get together, it was explosive and blew each other's minds.

I just loved how Dre and Ashley thought everything was about them and how Heaven and Axel put them in their place. Karma is a beotch. They got what they deserved. In the end, Heaven Leigh and Axel Reinhold Behr saved each other. Axel was missing something in his life and found it in Heaven. She became his ride or die chick that would fight to the end for him. Their two-time fake relationship became real to get them to their hard-earned HEA.

I can see several spin-off books from this one. I'd love to see a book about Latoya and Bodhi, Tennessee Church and his menage a trois, and I'd also like to see Beau get his HEA. He seems so very sad with very good reasons but he deserves a second chance at happiness.

Apparently, the first book in this series felt like something I’d read before and I felt the same thing while reading this! Chapter after chapter I keep thinking, “I swear I’ve read this before” even though I haven’t because it just came out a few months ago. I kept feeling like I was one “aha!” moment away from making it all make sense but I never quite got there. I wish I’d written more on my other review but to make it make sense to me later but, anyway. Girl meets guy and needs him to help kinda get revenge on her ex. Slowly, no feelings turn into strong feelings as their “dating for convenience” turns into the real deal. I enjoyed this!

Just buy the book! You won’t regret it!

I hate writing reviews, but this book needed it! This was a well thought-out story. There was an added level to the story that transitioned well and wasn’t contrived. I don’t want to give it away because it’s soo good! The two protagonists were open and honest about their attraction to one another. I like that they took a chance on each other and the story let their relationship breathe. They got to know each other and allowed themselves to fall in love. It was a bit fast paced, but realistic. The supporting characters were written so good that they need happy endings too! Just buy the book. You won’t regret it!

Ok, so why can’t I give Axel and Heaven more than 5 stars?

Kind of an “insta love” story but then it wasn’t. I LOVE the character development, the plot of the story and the fact that they were damn adults about situations that came their way.

Will we get a story about Beau? I hope so 🥺

As always, great work and the highly recommended that you read this story and any other story that Francesca writes. You will not be disappointed.

This is just like a Kirsten Ashley novel but with better grammar.

It was full of grandstanding, confrontation, improbably jealousy and stalkers, escalation of every possible situation and cheesy cringey love babble.

I was sick of it by 75% but then I don’t like the KA vibes. If you love KA, this is a book for you. I am, however, grateful to be off this drama coaster.

WOW!!! Such a surprise read… so good, so cute, so fun 🤩

Thoroughly surprised 😮 from reading this book and this author for the first time. I am so happy that I read this as soon as I gotten it and did not simply put it on my TBR, and actually read it in less than 24hrs.
Axel was fun, quirky, beautiful and Alpha boss man. A go getter, loyal and very intense.
Heaven was so cute, so endearing, so a possible relatable character. Intelligent and yet innocent, she was perfect for Axel.
This story took me by surprise and I loved how this author weaved through the lines touching base on some sensitive issues, such as Axel and Allie, or Axel and his parents or Axel and his business, a little bit was touched all over.
Latoya, Keri, And Beau were the best, although we got Beau at the end, most likely on purpose, it was still good. Ashley, Dre, and even Curtis was the best dish that Karma ever served. Epic!!!!
I know I will be reading this author again because this story, again was a beautiful surprise….

Really Good Story

When Heaven ends up at the same resort as her ex-fiancé and her nemesis (during their wedding week), she approaches a stranger to play the part of her boyfriend. Of course the pretending stopped long before they acknowledged it.

So I read Beau’s story years ago and loved it, I’m not sure why it took so long to go back and read Axel’s story. I’m glad I finally did. I really like this book.

Axel and Heaven are great, they act like two real adults. While they have fears and hesitations, they still go for what they want and for the most part communicate effectively with each other.

I was very happy with the Axel handled Dre and Ashley. They got everything they deserved. I also liked that while Axel didn’t see it, he was accepting of what was being told to him about Allie and not dismissive.

Check this one out!

Enjoyable

An enjoyable read. I almost didn't read it because I read the book featuring Beau first and was only whelmed. This book is way more enjoyable. Axel and Heaven had funny, developed personalities (Heaven especially- really liked her. She never annoyed me). Their attraction was immediate and while this is a full-length book, it wasn't wordy and all over the place. It focused mainly on Axel and Heaven together and their hot intimacy. Whatever conflicts or side plots there were did not take over the book and were quickly resolved satisfactorily. I'd recommend this book to anyone whether they were looking for a believable and evolved love story with great dialogue and humor or just hot intimate scenes. This book delivered.

Jealous exes and psycho assistant

Heaven and Axel were some patient people because there's no way Dre and Ashley wouldn't have caught these hands if it were anybody else. Ashley needed to be in someone's mental facility because how can a person be that jealous of another person to the point of ruining your father's business. And Heaven had no idea why Ashley's jealous ran so damn deep and I'm guessing Ashley herself didn't know why.
Axel psycho assistant ended up exactly where she needed to be.
I'm just glad Axel and Heaven were finally able to get their happily ever after.

Chance encounters

If Axel is a model of a real man somewhere in this world, I'm boarding a plane in a New York Minute!! Never have I rooted so hard for someone to get turned out as much as I did for Heaven and Axel delivered like an Amazon Prime membership, quick, fast and guaranteed! Francesca Penn has a way with sucking you into her world with her character builds that don't follow the usual tropes and gives them real life to the point you almost mourn when you finish the story. This one had me laughing and in the feels all at the same damn time 😂. 5 stars and then some.

Super delicious story

Really Really loved this book. Rarely give a 5 but had to give this a 5. Loved Axel and Heaven and their connection. Loved the interaction with her and her friends. Can't believe the antics of Dre and is crazy wife . There deserved what they got even the father - talk of being blind to how crazy his daughter is. Lots of wonderful character. Would love a story about Beau though . He stands out. Would not mind him and Keri .

This is a fantastic love story! A tropical paradise vacation is filled with unexpected events. This romantic tale is beautifully written. A smooth enjoyable read. Thor to the rescue, (you will have to read the book to find out about Thor) and, an ex fiance determined to wreck havoc. Longtime loyal friends that have you chuckling, sexy sizzling chemistry, a mystery and a HEA. This book will grab and hold all of your attention.

Wow, this is one of the best series I have read in a while

Axel and Heaven were fun characters, and they had fun in the story. This was light-hearted and funny without making caricatures of the characters. I loved that Axel was a real Alpha and not just big and bossy, which made it so much sweeter and poignant when he showed some vulnerability. I loved the cameos of Trini, Tennessee, and Tucker that was a nice nod to the author King Ellie's Dear Dark Knights. And made me think for another great book by Francesca Penn, Hale on Earth. I highly recommend this book. It even had me looking for the "days of sunlight" sundress on Lulu, that is how deep I went 😄. This was fun and I can not wait for the next one 🤞

Hands down...one of the best novels I've read this year. I'm just sorry I waited to read it. Axel is all that! Thor in board shorts...whew. Love, love, love me some Axel. His payback was on a whole- nother - level (lol). I wasn't crazy about Heaven at the beginning of the story but by the end...Girlfriend was my shero. Her gal pals need their own novels (hint, hint). Ms. Penn is becoming a new favorite author. Can't wait to read more of her work.

Awesome story with great characters. Loved the plot twists and personalities of the main characters. I loved how this story focused on the connection of Heaven and Axel, how that connection grew and changed them for the better. Character development is essential and this book didn’t disappoint. If there will be spin off story for LaToya and Bodhi..... I am so here for it. Francesca Penn doesn’t disappear with her books and this one I no different.
