The Way of Abrahadabra

Rate this book
The reader may have lived long enough under the shadows, so that not to delay him any further from finding his own clearing in the ululating darkness is this introduction to be made as compact as it can. Nevertheless, the reader is advised to read it slowly, to stop from time to time and to place these brief words under meditation, and also to research about any concept that he is still ignorant of. Such labor is already as hosting the sunlight.

Ours is a hard work, to find a way of explaining briefly and in theory that open road which we are about to expose to the perilous adventurer. It was believed by the ancients that mental space and emotional time were entwined with all physical notions, so that through the extension of space and time there was also the intention of space and time, and the inner and the outer were equally limitless in proportion and bound only by the will of a conscious being. That law seemed also to imply that, once consciousness was installed no matter when or where, there was no part of the witnessed universe that wasn’t animated by a somehow intelligent sensibility in a metaphysical and somewhat sexual intercourse with imagination. That is how the phallus of the universe would impregnate the womb of Adam, his skull, and he would name manifestation by different titles, so that, at that time, original and pure creativity ruled over chaos. This brings us to the formula of our title: Abrahadabra.

Abrahadabra is Abracadabra transformed by the author Aleister Crowley to contain the impregnations of the holy spirit, that is, of the visionary agent, that secret fluid that generates through friction and release between matter – as unmanifest as it is – and its sensible experience – which the wisemen of old held to be the manifest. It is not that man, as a sensible being, is full and the universe empty without him experiencing it, but a man, as a microcosmos or an inner world, is empty until having been touched by the universe – the macrocosmos – so that it is the unmanifest that manifests the sensible being. Our aim is to explore the animistic possibilities of this theory with the tools we see fit.

Andre Consciencia

André lives in Moita, Portugal and has been a dedicated Bardon practitioner for twenty one years now.

He joined Fraternitas Hermetica (an order based on the works of Bardon) while still a minor and had an initiator that stood even after the order vanished. He also has worked with his old initiator for 20 years. He has experience of other magical systems such as, AMORC, Order of Michael’s Grail (with roots on Dion Fortune), Thelemic Golden Dawn and Astrum Argentum.

André teaches neoshamanism and has his own active group of practitioners. Aside from his shamanic path, which he puts to use as a simple way to reach the uninitiated, he has been through the hermetic magical systems of Franz Bardon, as well as through systems presented by Rosicrucian orders and Thelemic organizations, still being an active member of the Horus Maat Lodge.

Aside to his magical path, Andre is an accomplished author, poet, playwright, musician and founder of a Theater Company – CIA.Mefisteatro.

In 2010 he formed a therapy program through creative writing and shamanistic performance and this started his career as a performer, using poems unique to the performances and often inviting other artists, from performers to dancers and musicians. In parallel he starts working with music, working on a variety of projects, solo and collective, and created his first play Língua de Fogo, (Tongue of Fire) featuring the dancer Soraya Moon. In 2017 he releases A Summer In Our Mouths, a semi auto-biographical fiction where the life of the character is seen from the lens of the Sun.

In 2018 he founded of his own Theater Company of CIA.Mefisteatro, with Eunice Correia, which debuts with the kabalistic play, Twilight Circus. As a playwright, he wrote the following plays and music for Rumpelstiltskin, Three Strange Stories and the ritual play, Sapho’s Bone.

In addition to his neoplatonic approach to poetry, fiction, music and theatre, he has been a member of various magical orders and has written nonfiction articles to their archives, finally being published by Sirius Limited Esoterica with The Way of Abrahadabra, where he intended to strip the formula from the folk rituals of Thelema and its most religious and popular aspects, presenting it and elaborating it instead through hermetic methods.
André Consciência is also president at 3 cultural associations, and was the content writer and the ghost writer at Fractal Mind Lda, a revolutionary company of Gamification working for a better world.
