Jilly Watson is not the kind of girl who quivers and blushes when her boss calls her into his office. But Matthew Stevenson isn't just her boss, and she's not just going to be scolded.
He's her daddy, and he's going to spank her. Not a few flirtatious swats, but a long, hard, painful spanking that leaves her bottom bright red and sore to remind her that he expects to be obeyed.
She's a legal secretary and he's the law firm's newest partner. It's scandalous and shameful.
But her panties are soaked before she is even bent over the desk, and when daddy tears them off after her punishment she knows he will find his naughty little girl wet and ready to be claimed.
Publisher's Note: Obeying Daddy includes spankings and sexual scenes. If such material offends you, please don't buy this book.
Kelly Dawson is a USA Today bestselling author who pens naughty novels from her home in southern New Zealand. Rural NZ provides plenty of inspiration for romantic stories, and this is where most of Kelly's books are set.
Inside the pages, sparks will fly, and spanks will fall as her sexy alpha heroes tame the strong, independent women who love them. Throw in some drama and angst, and you have the makings of a Kelly Dawson romance. She thoroughly enjoys bringing 'all the feels' to life on the page.
When she's not writing, Kelly devotes her time to her 4 children and her very own romance novel hero - her husband.
What are readers saying about Kelly's books? ~ "Kelly Dawson always surprises me with the personality of each Daddy in her novels." ~ "Kelly's stories are always a great read." ~ "Obeying Daddy is just right for a light summertime read if you like a little spanking in your romance." ~ "Completely and utterly taken captive by this story. It was EVERYTHING!!" ~ "This story had all the feels I've come to expect from a Kelly Dawson book." ~ "The steamy scenes had me fanning my face."
This book is a departure from Ms. Dawson’s ranch romances. I love those, and I loved this city Daddy romance, too. It’s a slow burn, and it’s oh so sweet. Jilly is a dear, single mom who is working hard. She is very attracted to new partner, Matthew, and their office flirting is fun. I love the office atmosphere that Ms. Dawson created, with Queen office bee Janice and office gossip Vanessa, (as well as a few other surprises). Once Matthew and Jilly find their way together, they have to navigate some obstacles to stay together. At one point I was upset with Matthew not following through on his word to keep in touch with Jilly, which is partly how Jilly’s problem really blew up. But of course, this is a romance and we get our sweet HEA. This is definitely a must read!
Jilly is a single mother who works as a secretary at Matthew's law firm. They are both attracted to each other and he soon tells her about his interest in DD; she responds enthusiastically. The rest of the book details their growing relationship complicated by its workplace setting and her economic difficulties.
If you're looking for a mild, consensual DD romance with relatively low angst between two likeable people you may enjoy this. Those who are fans of Age Play, however, may be disappointed as it never goes beyond Jilly's calling Matthew "Daddy." Otherwise, I appreciated that though an office romance, Matthew was quick to assure Jilly that no matter what happened between them, it would never affect her job; that he wasn't a Neanderthal and that she wasn't a brat; and that it was competently written with no editing errors.
That said, this is very condensed and really read more like an expanded short story than anything else. The plot was minimal; the central conflict negligible (Jilly refuses to tell Matthew about her housing problem); and all the characters come to a meeting of the minds rather quickly. Because there's little development, the author is forced to fill pages up with repetitive inner monologues that simply rehash the same dilemas (we are told ad nauseam that Jilly doesn't trust men because of her bad experience with her daughter's baby daddy; tip to authors: if you're not presenting your readers with new information or information in a new way, take it out). This repetition could have been avoided by adding more erotic scenes (the ones present are fine, but there aren't many) or expanding on badly half-baked plot elements. Once Matthew tells Jilly about his proclivities, she immediately starts calling him "Daddy" and accepting his discipline with no hesitation. When he tells her that he "would expect obedience, total obedience, and complete submission," she doesn't blink an eye. Any other woman in her position would say, "Hello, I have a daughter, so no, I can't promise that. You see she's my priority and I can't accept any decision of yours that would interfere with that." Not once do they ever discuss how to reconcile their relationship with her parenting responsibilities.
There are other problems with the book, including some plot holes (Matthew punishes Jilly for ). In addition, though I appreciated the non-American setting of Ms. Dawson's own New Zealand home -- Auckland, to be precise -- it's represented as some 1950s world where all lawyers are men; all secretaries are women; no one gets divorced; and no one is a single parent. Since I'm assuming Auckland is like the rest of the world, it's beyond absurd that anyone in the 21st century would judge Jilly for being a single mother or her daughter for having no father. When I read DD books -- even those set in our current time period -- it seems like authors feel compelled to depict some sort of out-of-time, hyper-conservative or reactionary environment. If that's the only way you feel DD would work, then you may need to re-examine your concept of DD. *ETA: For the author's explanation of this in her country, please see the comments.
3 stars. You may enjoy this if you want something light and go into it with low expectations.
Jilly Watson wasn’t looking for a Daddy, what she was looking for was a good job, with a good salary, and an opportunity to provide a better quality of life for her 6 year old daughter Lily. Getting a job at Hutchings & Associates seemed to be the answer to her dreams, and then she met Matthew! He was everything that her former boyfriend Cameron was: big and handsome; but more importantly everything he was not: caring, nurturing, dependable and dominant. Jilly had no idea she had a little within her but Matthew showed her what she could and should be and became her Daddy. Her past relationship caused her lots of trust issues but Matthew addressed them all and Lily sealed the deal. A lovely D/l story with appropriate discipline and sensuous sex. I think Matthew just might be what every little secretly dreams of. 5 Stars
This what's a great story from beginning to end, I thoroughly enjoyed it. This is the first book by Brad by Kelly Dawson, but I will definitely be reading more of her books. I highly recommend reading this book.
These books are usually ridiculous fillers when I'm undecided about other books or I'm anxiously waiting on a new series. They're typically 2-3 star reads that involve a lot of eye rolling and cringing on my part.
But this book was actually pretty good! Matthew and Jilly were a match made in heaven. Matthew with his dominant "Daddy," side and Jilly with her need of someone to help guide her and take care of her.
The writing flowed smoothly, the characters were fairly developed, and the storyline was somewhat believable. I had to 4 star this because it wasn't bad. And that is surprising lol
The story is enjoyable,a mild version of daddy erotica and I fell in love of the characters. More attention to the details, however, is warranted. A law company will be buzzing with clients, heavy work and meetings and Where were the other lawyers in the firm? That all was totally absent as if the characters were living in their own world. The end , while as expected, was like a fairytale ending! I would prefer down to earth , more realistic one where life moves on and difficulties are being dealt with reasonably. I still enjoyed it as it was a light quick read.

This was a quick, easy read and yet still managed to deliver all the feels I've come to expect from a Kelly Dawson story. Jilly is a single mother of a six-year-old daughter. She found out the hard way how to be on her own when her ex, and baby's father, left when she found out she was pregnant and her mother declared Jilly would be on her own if she intended to keep the child. She's also the newest secretary at a law firm for the elite. Then one of the partners brought a junior partner. Don't you know, a Daddy Dom can always hone in on a little girl submissive and Matthew zoned in on Jilly. There's instant chemistry there that excites and confuses Jilly simultaneously. Even after agreeing to be his little, Jilly neglects to confide important issues to her "Daddy" and the situation snowballs. His reaction? You'll have to read this entertaining story to find out for yourself. It's a hot, steamy storyline full of surprises, tummy-flipping emotions, a submissive who desperately needs a Daddy and hasn't realized it, and a Daddy who wants a little girl but doesn't want to scare her away.
Jilly did not have it easy when she was pregnant with her daughter and now she is working hard to make sure she and Lily have what they need. I liked that this is how she meets Matthew. I liked Matthew and thought he was so good for Jilly. This was a good read and I enjoyed it.

Kelly Dawson always surprises me with the personality of each Daddy in her novels. I enjoyed this story from the onset. I as always can only suggest that if you enjoy Daddy led novels that this one go on your TBR list very near the top. It isn't a long book yet it travels all kinds of emotional directions and ends ....guess you'll have to read it to find out.
Matthew’s character was attempting to be a strong dom /daddy but it just came off as being weird to me. Not sure where he got his experience but this will not be a repeat read for me.
I loved this story. There was just enough spankings without being too much and the daddy was alpha to a T. Jilly Watson works in a law office mostly doing grunt work. She's the mother of a 6 year old. Lilly needs this job and the pay is better than her other jobs. She's staying above water but just. Matthew is a Jr. partner who's now working at the law office and he senses that Jilly is a submissive and also she might just be the little girl that he keeds. This is a book that you don't want to put down until you are finished. I loved the interaction between Lilly and Matthew. Their chemistry is off the charts, he was strong warm and very compassionate. I love how he took her to task when he found out that the lied to him about being evicted. He meets her daughter and they form a tight bond. These two were perfect together. A single mom whose daughter’s father abandoned her. She’s strong and takes care f then bith. Upon finding a job at a law firm she meets her “daddy”. Interesting quick read. *I was given a copy and am voluntarily giving my honest review.
Phenomenal story with exciting characters. Love the daddy dom storyline, characters were likeable and entertaining to read about. Lots of fun drama. Great chemistry between the main characters. A must read book.
This is a cute little Daddy takes control and spanks story. It is somewhat rare in that the story includes a young child. The fact that Jilly is a single mother provides much of the tension in this novel. I have only two complaints: sopping wet knickers and legs of jelly. It isn’t wise to use the same descriptive phrases over and over. Sopping wet knickers would likely leak through clothing and legs of jelly could be said : feel as if they couldn’t hold her, tremble with effort, feel as if she might fall and so forth. However it is an enjoyable short read and the author either has an innate sense of writing or else Stormy Nights does better by its authors than other indie publishers. If you enjoy Daddy Dom’s you will like this book.
Very hot and sweet office romance.I truly enjoyed reading this story. Jilly doesn't need or want a man. Her new boss may be the daddy she didn't know she needs
Donna L 5.0 out of 5 stars Short But Very Sweet Reviewed in the United States on August 4, 2020 Verified Purchase First of all, this was not a long read at all.I easily read it in one sitting, but I was was immediately drawn to the plot and the likable characters. It has just the amount of tension, emotion and heat. The storyline was not hurried and built at a steady pace.
Jilly Watson ,is a single mother to her six year old daughter,Lily, needs her job desperately. Her infatuation with Matthew,a junior partner in his uncles law firm is off limits, but Matthew is conflicted .He senses Jilly’s submissiveness ,the way she accepted his authority so easily, she brought out his protective instincts .Jilly has trust issues, but Matthew with hard work wins her over. This is not before she finds herself in trouble for not trusting her Daddy.
I adored Matthew for his warmth, strength and compassion. He knew what he wanted, he knew what Jilly needed, and worked hard until she accepted him as her Daddy. They were perfect together. I enjoyed this book, but it ended too soon for me.I just wanted more. The author wrote a beautifully executed story that will pull at your heart. .
Daddy/little girl - office romance with a few naughty moments ;-) Jilly and her six-year-old daughter need her to keep her job because she is all the family she can depend on. Lily’s father left after finding out Jilly was pregnant. Her parents were not happy that she decided to keep Lily. Now she works at a prestigious law firm in Auckland, trying to make a life for she and her daughter. Everything appeared to be going well until she met a younger attorney in the practice, Matthew. He gives off mixed signals and has Jilly so confused. Which is he? The stern task-master or the kind and considerate man??? Matthew knows on first meeting Jilly that she is submissive through and through…and he wants her! If you enjoy the Dom/submissive romance, read this book. There are spanking and steamy moments so if that is not your thing, don’t review and give it a low star. But if it is a favorite genre for you, dig in and read this scrumptious story. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for the author.
Jilly has a new job. The good thing because she's got a little daughter to take care of and the only man she's ever known dumped her when he found out that sweet little baby was coming. Her new job can be exacting and it's a very disciplined office and then Matthew come to work there. An attorney Matthew's uncle runs the company and suddenly she notices that Matthew is taking an interest in her. One time he's kind and the next time stern and strict. Matthew has realized that Jilly really needs a daddy to take care of her and he wants to be that daddy.

This was a fun and relatively quick read. It has everything that a good story needs, we have a hero and heroine, we have antagonists, and love. Above all else this is a love story. Jilly has been hurt and has huge trust issues, Matthew is a catch, the kind of guy any girl would fall for. Jilly tries to be strong for her daughter and not rely on anyone else because she had been hurt. That was not a good idea. In the end it all works out well. I will be reading more from Kelly Dawson.

This story was a sweet office romance. I didn't feel like it had the same character development of some of Kelly Dawson's other books so I had a tough time relating to the characters. Besides that, it was a fun, short story with instant attraction and quick relationship development. If you are looking for a light, easy read, this book will do the trick.
A great story to read especially if you’re into spankings. The story could be a bit more steamier where the romance is concerned and I like to know ages of characters which was absent here. Recommend to readers of contemporary romance.
I thought this story was sweet and enjoyable. I liked her reactions to his tone of voice. The author gave it a realistic vibe that made this story a joy to read. I loved how the reveals added pleasure and humor to the story. The emotional hook was there as well. A wonderful story.
This was a cute story. It's insta-attraction when Jilly and Matthew meet. Matthew is so cute as he comes up with ways to see Jilly and Jilly is so sweet in her actions and behaviours. There is an obvious attraction between the two, and the scenes are pretty hot and steamy. This was a fun quick read!

This is a quick and steamy read. Jilly is a secretary and Matthew is her boss and daddy dom. Jilly isn’t looking for a relationship as she has been burned before but when she needs a place to stay will Matthew come through and help her? Great chemistry and lots of emotion. I liked it.
This is a cute DDlg that deals with real world problems. This is a sweet story with chemistry and insta-attraction between Jilly and Mathew. This is well written and is an enjoyable read.
Delightful, quick read of Jilly, a single mother who works in a law firm and Matthew, the new junior partner. Matthew is a dominant and catches Jilly’s submissive vibes. Jilly does not want another relationship as her previous boyfriend abandoned her when she became pregnant. But she falls for Matthew’s stern, yet loving ways. When she is evicted from her home, she does not tell him. In an attempt to find a new home, she falls apart. Can Matthew save her? This is a hot, steamy read, full of emotion and love.
This story has a very slow build up based on Jilly's life and problems. Its very well written and described, with real honest characters and relationships. There are some spankings and hot spicy sexy scenes. I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and I highly recommend it. Matthew is dominant and looking for a woman to care for completely and Jilly has had no one to lean on since her daughter's birth. I enjoyed reading this sweet, cute, sexy story.
Obeying Daddy was a quick read, perfect as a kind of palate cleanser between more intense, darker books. It is a daddy dom, office romance. Single mother Jill Watson gets a job at an elite law firm where she meets Matthew Stevenson, her boss. Their chemistry is obvious right away, and Matthew instantly sees that Jill needs somebody on her side. Really sweet story with a lot of heat!

Enjoyed the story. Jilly is raising a young daughter Lily all by herself and finally has a job that is sufficient to support them. Matthew, the newest law partner, notices her desire to please and it brings out the Daddy in him. There are some ups and downs in their relationship and Jilly has abandonment issues which doesn’t help. There are rough moments but things work out. The story is well written and entertaining. I would recommend it as a good read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and are voluntarily leaving a review.
