This is the third book in the Domestic Discipline Quartet.
When Wesley Spencer, Earl of Spencer, arrives in Bath, his first encounter with his new ward is out in the street where she's indecently dressed (to his mind) and obviously rushing to get home. His mother's letters had prepared him for a hoyden, what they hadn't prepared him for was the astonishingly beautiful and sensual young woman who surprises every one of his expectations when he disciplines her.

3.5 still enjoying the series on the whole stars (rounded up)
This book picks up where the last one left off, so if you have not read the prior 2 installments, this review will contain spoilers.
When we last left Eleanor, she was still struggling with the uncertainty of whether or not her husband loves her. She fell hard for Edwin, and based on the way he treats her, she thinks he might love her, but he has never said it. As a child, Eleanor felt that her mother loved her father, but he didn't love her, so he had the upper hand in the relationship which made her miserable, and that is not something Eleanor ever wants to experience herself. But she is already miserable, and now she fears she is pregnant. She doesn't want to tell Edwin yet because what if he feels his job is done in getting her with a possible heir and stops making lover to her for the next several months? Meanwhile, Edwin is still befuddled with his wife. What is it that she wants from him that he isn't giving her? He decides the best way to handle things is to make her fall completely in love with him, and he sets out to do just that. But his extra attention and care only confuses Eleanor more. Will they ever be on the same page?
Wesley has traveled to Bath to relieve his mother of her duty in managing his recently inherited unruly ward, Miss Cynthia Bryant. When he arrives and discovers that she has gone missing, he is shocked to encounter her running about the town in more revealing attire than the time of day and her status as an innocent miss dictates. Thus, Wesley decides it is imperative that he set her straight immediately by showing her who is boss, and he spanks the surprised young lady. But even more surprising to Cynthia is that she enjoyed the spanking! And Wesley finds himself more and more drawn to the little hoyden, especially since she seems to enjoy his type of kink. Maybe marriage wouldn't be so bad... if it were to the kind of woman he can play with to his heart's content.
Since they put everything on the table, Hugh and Irene's marriage has been blissfully happy. And after witnessing Hugh take Irene in hand and since receiving additional input from his other new friends High and Edwin on domestic discipline, Alex has decided it is time to reclaim his wife. He is tired of pretending not to care about her, and the jealousy and hurt he feels when he sees her with various lovers has hit a wall. It is time to make a plan and win her back.
What I liked:
--- Though there is definitely some unnecessary angst, I am enjoying Edwin and Eleanor's growth as a couple
--- LOTS of steamy goodness early & often
What I didn't like as much:
--- I don't feel like I have connected as much with Hugh & Irene and now Wesley & Cynthia so I don't enjoy their scenes are much
--- With respect to Wesley's brand of kink
Overall, I am looking forward to finding out what happens with Alex and Grace, and whether Edwin and Eleanor finally get on the same page in the final installment :)

4 'Dowager Countess' stars
That was fun. Cynthia is such a naughty little she-devil. Just the kind of a woman Wesley needs. What I most like about this series is how the stories of all the couples are connected and intertwined. I can't wait to get to Alex and Grace's reconciliation. I bet this will be interesting.
And I need to mention the dowager countess - Wesley's mother. She was the star of this book. I really enjoyed her scheming about the wedding plans. Never underestimate a mother who is determined to marry off her son.

To cut a long story short: I wanted way more stern Wesley and bratty ward Cynthia and way less Edwin/Eleanor and Hugh/Irene. I don't mind updates on previous couples, but it always felt like just when I was really enjoying the interactions between Wesley and Cynthia, the book would cut away to more tedious Eleanor 'but he hasn't SAID he loves me' angst. So the supposed main couple felt underdone, and it was disappointing that their part kind of ended on a nothing note before we switched to the Alex/Grace epilogue. I am curious about the next couple, but Wesley and Cynthia are definitely my faves so far of the series. They popped off the page.

Well, I poked around this series for a bit of historical bdsm kink and it was...eh for me. Probably 1.5 stars. Not really my cup of tea, because all of the spanking and domming is presented as a form of punishment to discipline unruly wives. But, like, not really in a fun, sexy, consensual way? In a "you misbehaved by being sassy and now I'm going to spank you while you cry" way. Definitely would classify this as dubcon with a hefty dose of uncritical patriarchy. Not for me.

Definitely a different type of historical romance writing...
So this is a series of four books, but they are all 'To Be Continued'. Which I personally do not like. I read Books 1, and maybe 2, such a long time ago, that I didn't remember anything about them and their story, so once I started to read this Book #3 I felt lost as to who these characters were. (If you want to read this series, I recommend you read them one right after the other). Honestly, I only was interested in the story about the Hero and his ward. And because I didn't remember anything about the other couples, I skipped past their chapters and only read about this couple Wesley and his naughty ward.
I use the word 'naughty' very loosely here. This heroine was more of a brazen hussy whore'ish wannabe. Her curious hormones were out of control and omg! her conversations with Eleanor UPON THEIR FIRST MEETING EACH OTHER about blow jobs.... so unrealistic, especially for that time period. This was all basically hard core porn. I found no romance whatsoever to be involved in the story. Every single chapter had pages after pages of dirty crass sexual words/scenes.
The sex (between Wesley and his hussy little ward) was all about punishment. Physical abuse that they both got off too. And they didn't actually have (regular) sex. Just many blistering spankings, her touching herself several times afterwards and him physically forcing anal sex on her. But guys, it's ok because she ended up liking it after all. (eyeroll). It was not sexy or comfortable for me to read at all.
I think I will stick to classic, traditional historical romance stories, that revolve around romance instead of hardcore porn. Just my personal preference.

This series has been a really nice surprise! I LOVE the 4 couples whose stories are wonderfully told and intertwined.
It's too bad, though, that the male characters are all portrayed as being infallible. I get that the theme is 'domestic discipline', but it reduced both the heroines and the heroes to being two-dimensional. Plus, unfortunately I felt that this installment went from erotic to violent.
But listen to me whining that my smut romps didn't turn out to be epic 5 star reads... ;)

The h's is great fun. She's sassy and also very sweet. The H's mother asks for his help to control her, but he finds himself enthralled very quickly. She's shocked by his kinky activities but also really likes him. Their story is a lot of fun, and I like this couple.

Wesley The Earl of Spencer has a wayward Ward, by the name of Cythia Bryant and she loved to do what ever it was that someone told her that she wasn’t supposed to do. When ever she heard Don’t, she would set about trying to do what it was.
The first thing Wesley does after he arrives in Bath at his mother’s was to take Cynthia over his knee and spank her for misbehaviour. When she thinks about it a little later Cynthia is pleased.
A little bit of adventure and fun later and we get to the end and afterwards is an Epilogue with a teaser for the last of the series Claiming His Wife.
Note this story has butt stuff and spanking etc.

This series....oh,boy...this series is só much fun! This time it’s Wesley’s turn and he’s got quite the challenge with his ward,Cynthia. She’s more than a handful and a lot of trouble....but once Wesley makes up his mind,she finds that she rather likes getting into trouble with him! In the meantime Hugh and Irene are making up for lost time as they explore their feelings for eachother. I only wish i could say the same about Edwin and Eleanor....If only that man would understand what his wife really needs....
I can only hope that he’ll catch up in the final part of this series......There’s one way to find out and i’m going to do just that,read Claiming His Wife!

I am really enjoying this series. I like how throughout the different books you are kept up to date on the couples from previous books.
This novel in particular I liked the main characters. How headstrong Cynthia is. It had humor incorporated which added to the story.

I'm so vested in this series I feel like these are old friends of mine by now. This is the third book in the "Domestic Discipline Quartet" and our four rogues and their ladies have been through a "Season" of ups and downs along with some eye-opening discoveries. Not only about themselves but about those friends and family within their immediate circle. Have you been following the series up to this point? Then you know Wesley has been sharing his letters from his mother who is in Bath with Wesley's charge. Wesley has been only too happy to have his mother handle things so he can continue to play the rogue in London until her final letter comes stating if he doesn't come to handle the hedonistic female then she will be more than glad to bring not only herself but his ward with her to London. THAT definitely got a reaction! Once again Golden Angel has taken us on an eye-opening adventure into the lives of these friends and made us a part of the journey. The emotional rollercoaster and learning curves they go through is both nerve-wracking and heartwarming, a bit of discipline and sensual lust and yet through it all, there is always plenty of emotions. The ton still calls the shots within proper society but there's a whole different set of rules within the households. I can't wait to read the next one.

This is the third book of the quartet and really needs to be read after book #1 (Birching His Bride) and book #2 (Dealing With Discipline) . This is the continuation of both Eleanor & Edwin's story, as well as Hugh & Irene's. In addition we have the tale of Wesley & Cynthia.
All three couples are delightful, and the women in particular have very distinct and rounded personalities. Due to the inclusion of scenes between the other couples, Wesley and Cynthia's story did feel somewhat rushed. Their part was very reminiscent of reading a novella, which in effect it was if you removed the none-C&W parts.
However that didn't stop me from being engaged by, and enjoying the book. I adore Eleanor and it's fun seeing all the coupes and how they interact. There are some wonderfully 'naughty' scenes and plenty of spanked bottoms! Cynthia has a real wild child, I loved her 'don't care' attitude and progressive outlook. I'd love to see more of her getting up to mischief and leading Wesley on a wild chase!
I've totally adored the series so far and can't wait to read Grace and Alex's story.

Wesley was requested to come home by his mother. His ward was extremely out of hand. If he didn't get her under control soon, she will ruin not only her name but his mother's as well. He must find a way to keep her in line and untainted. He must also resist the temptation of wanting her while he finds someone to marry her off to.
This isn't the best of the three, but I really enjoyed it all the same. I really love how the author takes adds new main characters to the story but maintains the ones from previous books as well. It can be read as a stand-alone, but I preferred to read them all in order. I may not have fully missed anything, but there are things I wouldn't have fully understood had I read them out of order.
While I can't say I identify with any of the characters in the book, I adore them. I connect well with them. Well, I connect more with the women than the men. It's really hard to explain. In some ways, I feel the men in the books are a little weird. Maybe that's how they were in that time period.
I really enjoyed the narrator. She narrated the first two books as well. S. Kitten narrated the book. It seems she narrated the whole series from what I'm understanding. She has a very perfect voice for the time period in which this book takes place. I can't really explain that either. She's just very proper and sophisticated. I'd definitely listen to other audiobooks by her.
I really don't care for this genre that much. Not that I have anything against it. It's just not really my thing. However, Golden Angel makes me want to read her books anyway. She's very talented. I've come out of my comfort zone so much listening to her books. I'm glad I did. It's amazing to see exceptions to the rule.

I really enjoyed the narrator. She narrated the first two books as well. S. Kitten narrated the book. It seems she narrated the whole series from what I'm understanding. She has a very perfect voice for the time period in which this book takes place. I can't really explain that either. She's just very proper and sophisticated. I'd definitely listen to other audiobooks by her.
I really don't care for this genre that much. Not that I have anything against it. It's just not really my thing. However, Golden Angel makes me want to read her books anyway. She's very talented. I've come out of my comfort zone so much listening to her books. I'm glad I did. It's amazing to see exceptions to the rule.

Well that is not all true, she has a hidden agenda. Cynthia is to open with sexual behaviors and she tend to be a little easily misled the wrong direction by suitors who do not mean any good to her. After seeing all the gentleman flock to her because his mother had not describe how beautiful Miss Cynthia was, Wesley has found some attraction to her himself. If he could only get her to do what she supposed to do. So he found himself needing to discipline her the way that women were in England.
Husbands in England find the same way of disciplining their wives as they would their children worked. Turn her over on her stomach with her rear end up and exposed and paddle her behind with their hand. And, depending on the severity of the situation it could move to the back of her brush, his belt, or other objects.

The narration is marvelous and S. Kitten kept the story at flow. She stole my attention at the beginning and kept until the end. There also was some humor in it, a lot of erotic sexual contents for arousal.

Tired and threatened by his mother’s complaints about his guard, Wesley decides to pay a visit in Bath to take care of the situation once and for all. Little does he know that Cynthia is feisty, sexy, smart and adventurous. He soon finds thinking about marrying her himself rather than find her a suitor. Cynthia is funny and reckless most of the time, yet the discipline Wesley puts on her is really arousing and starts looking for ways to lure him into spank her. Definitely the thermometer goes up in this installment. The stories intertwine perfectly with one another, and we have the chance to catch up with Nell’s and Edwin story, which at this point becomes annoying, Irene and Hugh’s, which aren’t as dull as ever and get to know better about what made Grace and Alex be estranged; which is the most interesting part of the book - apart from Cynthia’s mischief and Wesley’s epic punishments to her. Great read.

This is by far my favorite story in the box set. The author does a fabulous job in grabbing my attention right from the start. Cynthia is my favorite character. As soon as Wesley spanks her it's all over. She keeps pushing the limits. She is so scandalous and it is funny to read the things she does to see what her consequences would be.
Eleanor is still trying to get Edwin to tell her how he feels and I am getting tired of this. It's gone on too long.

November 27, 2019Cynthia loves to do the opposite of what she is told. When Wesley spanks, her, she realizes that being naughty is more fun. Cynthia was a fun lady to follow. I enjoyed all of her antics. Cynthia seemed to seek out the spanking and punishments, and no matter how hard they were, they left her wanting more. I think at times Wesley had a hard time keeping up with her, nevermind taming her.
S. Kitten narrates this series as only she can. I loved the consistency of her narration. It keeps the characters separate and easy to follow throughout the series. Her narration helps the series flow together. S. Kitten was able to have some fun in her narration of Cynthia and that brought Cynthia to life.

Ok this has been my favourite one so far!! Cynthia is absolutely hilarious! I love her! So is so funny, feisty and unashamed of herself and her actions!

Alex and Cynthia are perfect for each other. She's too bold by half and he's just the man to rein her in, keeping her from total disgrace. His baggage will lead him a merry chase.
It was wonderful to read about the other three couples as well. Eleanor's life is on a new path and Irene shows a lot more spirit than ever before to protect her marriage. Grace and Alex are sprinkled in a bit, separately of course because they're still separated. I can't wait to read their story.
Another great tale from the author, only marred by the editing issues evidenced. Quite distracting.

Holy cow was this good! I'm so disappointed I didn't know to start at the beginning of this series. I thought it was individual stories when actually the stories carry over. So make sure you start with book one. I listened to the audiobooks and loved them. They are so hot and they have an interesting storyline. I never thought I'd like anything historical but that changed the minute I started this series. Now I'm stalking Golden Angel and getting ready to start another one of her series.

I haven't read the first two book so I was a bit off kilter, but I did like the fact that the author included updates from the previous couples in the book. If I were a follower from the beginning this would be exactly the thing that would give extra "brownie points" to the book. The book was very entertaining and I will be going back and reading/listening to the previous books
The narration by S. Kitten was a first for me but the performance was well done, looking forward to the other books if the same narrator is used.

Very Stimulating!
I just wish there was more on the main characters. I wanted more of a story between Wesley and Cynthia. Don't get me wrong. I love guest appearances but I feel that most of this series is centered on Eleanor and Edwin. I'm kind of tired of the ridiculous nature of their "issue", if you can even call it that. I MEAN A DECLARATION OF LOVE should not be drawn out into 4 stories. I love this author but this recurring theme is bordering redundant and ridiculous. Otherwise, the scenes are sexy and the dynamic is hot as hell.

Good book. I like that the series is a continue from book one. Although much of this installment focused on Cynthia and Wesley (my least favorite couple of the four), there was plenty of the other three couples. Cynthia was too much for me considering the women of that time. I loved the interaction between Irene and Grace. I had a feeling that I would like Grace and their interactions confirmed that. Although Eleanor and Edwin are my favorite couple in the group. I think Alex and Grace could surpass them.
