Domestic Discipline #4

Claiming His Wife

Rate this book
This is the fourth and final book in the Domestic Discipline Quartet.

Alex has made a lot of mistakes, but he is determined to reconcile with his estranged wife, Grace. He's willing to put their past problems where he thinks they belong - in the past - but insults and disrespect will be met with discipline. He's seen the marriages his friends have, and decided to take a page from their books. Unfortunately for him, Grace is not so willing to let go of past hurts, although she has no choice but to go with him when he basically kidnaps her and takes her to Bath. At least her friends are there for moral support, while she does her best to discover exactly why her husband is so intent on reconciliation rather than divorce.

Hugh and Irene are blissfully happy, having declared their love for each other, but they seem to be the only ones. Eleanor is pregnant and worried that her condition will mean the end of overt affection and desire from her husband - especially as he hasn't declared any kind of finer feelings for her. She thinks Edwin doesn't realize she's with child, and worries over how to prod a declaration of love from him. Meanwhile, everyone is gathered in Bath for Wesley's wedding to the brazen and rebellious Cynthia.

When these four women get together, it's no wonder that both trouble and bright red bottoms loom on the horizon. Each of their husbands is bound and determined to claim and tame his willful wife.

3.5 satisfying finale stars (rounded up)

This is the final installment of the Domestic Discipline series, and since each book is a continuation of the last, it should not be read out of order. If you haven't read the previous books, this review will contain spoilers.

Alex, Lord Brooke, has had enough! His wife, Grace, left him immediately following their honeymoon for unknown reasons, and has since had multiple, public affairs and shunned him at every turn. Not that he hasn't had his own share of partners, but originally, he only pretended to have a mistress to make Grace jealous in the hopes that she would come back to him. Or at least rage at him - some form of communications. When the plan backfired, and she took lovers of her own, Alex followed suit as he believed she would never return. But lately, he has made some unconventional friends in Lord Hyde (Edwin), Viscount Petersham (Hugh), and the Earl of Spencer (Wesley) who have shared their ideas and techniques on ensuring their wives/financee remain content and compliant. He even witnessed Hugh punish his wife, Alex's childhood friend Irene, and the results were decidedly interesting. Thus, he took matters into his own hands and has "abducted" his wife from the residence he has provided her and from the staff that was always loyal to him, unbeknownst to Grace. Alex is taking Grace to Bath for Wesley's wedding, and she will listen to him, interact with him, and obey him --- or else.

Grace is shocked that her husband "kidnaps" her out of the blue as she mostly believed him to be indifferent at best. When he showed up one morning on her doorstep, she expected to be handed divorce papers; instead, he demanded she accompany him, and her (not so!) loyal staff eagerly packed her up and shipped her off! And now he demands that they share a bed, though he insists he will not engage in sex with her unless she begs him to. But that doesn't mean everything is off the table, and as Grace finds herself weakening to the seduction of the man she still loves, she is worried that it is all a facade that will end in her being hurt again... and that is something she cannot allow to happen as it would surely destroy her. But can she tell Alex her reason for leaving him? What if he tells her nothing has changed for him? And can Alex get to the bottom of his wife's reluctance when she won't tell him why she left in the first place?

Meanwhile, Edwin & Eleanor and Hugh & Irene have also descended upon the peaceful town of Bath in anticipation of Wesley & Cynthia's wedding. Eleanor still has her doubts about whether Edwin loves her, but she learns her reason for why she doesn't want to be the only one in love was not what it appeared to be after all. Edwin knows his wife is pregnant, but is puzzled as to why she won't tell him the joyful news. Will they ever get on the same page?

As the wedding nears, Cynthia continues to try to push Wesley's limits, and he is equally determined not to give into her demands before they are married as it will "set the wrong tone" fr their life together. But will Cynthia take no for an answer? Can they find a happy medium?

What I liked:
--- Eleanor and Edwin continued to entertain!
--- Alex and Grace were also a fun couple to observe (I wasn't sure that would be the case bc Grace was kind of bitchy to Eleanor in previous books for seemingly no reason)
--- Steamy goodness galore early & often

What I didn't like as much:
--- Still not that into Hugh & Irene and Wesley & Cynthia
--- Continued unsettling moments
--- I thought Grace's reason for leaving Alex was silly

Overall, a satisfying ending where HEAs with a dose of discipline are in plentiful supply!

Plot --- 3.5/5
Main Characters --- 3.5/5
Supporting Cast --- 3.5/5
Steam Level* --- 4.5/5 (no M/M or F/F and no menage/group but literally everything else - early & often!)
Violence --- spankings galore (hand, birch, belt, switch); possible triggers; see spoiler above
Language --- f-bombs
POV --- 3rd

*Note that steam level is not a rating so much as a how hot was it: 0/5 - clean; 1/5 - mild (nothing descriptive); 2/5 - 3rd base action/1 home run; 3/5 - now we're getting somewhere (a couple of full-on steamy scenes); 4/5 - yes please! (erotica territory); 5/5 - they did EVERYTHING in this one, y'all

4,5 'reconciliation' stars

When I started to read the first book of the series, I expected it to be all smut and no or very little story. I most happily discovered how wrong I was. There was a lot of smut, of course, no complaints here, however, the storyline was strong as well. I also liked how all four books of the series were connected. Each book is starring a different couple but all of their stories are intertwined.

At the beginning of the series I didn't much care about Grace and Alex. To be honest, at first I haven't even realized they will be one of the four main couples. I'm a huge fan of second chance romances, so imagine how thrilled I was when I found this out. Yay! I think I don’t need to point out, they became my favorite couple.

There was a minor annoyance that bothered me a little - the constant switching of POVs. But since I was really invested in the story, I could overlook this most of the time.

Overall, it was a very enjoyable series. Each couple was unique in its own way and I didn't feel any repetition. All the main characters were likable and I must mention again the Dowager Countess who once or twice completely stole the show.

I'm looking forward to the spin-off and to meet new members of this little spanking coven.

A thrillingly hot conclusion to this wonderful quartet of books and couples!

I totally adored this last book, I swooned at how Eleanor finally got her answer, I enjoyed catching up with them all and I LOVED the achingly beautiful reunion of Grace and Alex.

The books are unusual in that each one has added more and more point of views, yet never once did I struggle to follow the plot or to know which character I was 'hearing'. Excellent writing, plenty of red hot spanking (and beyond) scenes, wonderful characters and an amazing plot made reading this book - and indeed the whole quartet - an absolute delight.

If you love spanking/Domestic Discipline stories, historical romances or just a darn good sexy read then I highly recommend this series. It's well worth investing your time, money and heart in.

Wesley and Cynthia continue to be outrageously risque and love pushing not only each others boundaries, but those of polite society too. Irene continues to grow and blossom under Hugh's loving disciplinarian care, with her years of ingrained conditioning to break through. Edwin and Eleanor continue to lead the way with their uncaring total adoration of the other.

Grace and Alex, oh my Grace and Alex, this pair will put you through the emotional wringer. Both have their faults and make mistakes, but through out I still cared massively about both of them. They needed their heartbreaking journey in order to build the solid foundation they had never truly possessed before. It made all the sadness, hurt and anger so much more worthwhile.

I'm not always a fan of epilogues, so many times they feel forced and unnecessary, but this one was perfect. It tied the story together with a beautiful bow. Bravo Ms Angel on a wonderful series of books!

After being estranged for years, the H realises he's made a mistake allowing her to leave him. She believed the H's only interest in her was for his financial gain. I liked how the H was honest about his intentions. Their story was a good ending to the series.

As much as I enjoyed the last book, I didn’t like this one quite as much and that’s probably because of Grace and Alex (but mostly just Grace). Honestly the whole situation between them was just ludicrous! She decides to up and leave her husband based on something that she overheard, when she overheard a conversation between Alex and her father. She doesn’t think to question him and he doesn’t think to question her about why she’s leaving.

Then they both proceed to hump everyone in sight for years and years. It’s just so stupid. It’s literally the definition of cutting off your nose to spite your face. Sure enough when we finally get the explanation of what Alex meant by “one woman is as good as another” it turns out that it was one big misunderstanding that could have been dealt with if they had just communicated... shocker!

I could have gotten over their asinine fight, but the fact Grace just kept clinging to the idea that Alex didn’t care for her, despite ample evidence to the contrary was just sooooo annoying! Even after he explains himself she still doesn’t believe him at first! I just hated her so much.

The only thing that saved this book from a 2 star review in my opinion was the delightful Cynthia. Oh how I adore her! I wish the entire book had been about her Wesley! I literally laughed out loud at some of the things she did or said, case in point:

“I'm a Countess now.  They'll respect me."

"Or you'll stab them with a fork?"

"Exactly.”

I loved her in the last book and I loved her even more in this one. She made the whole book! Overall 4 stars for the other couples, 2 stars for Grace and Alex, but since most of the book was about them I would give this book an overall rating of 3 stars.

This last part of the series made me laugh and cry as everyone finally found their happy after.

Edwin finally understood what Eleanor needed,Wesley made the best choice his ward,Cynthia could ask for and Alex’ decision that his wife,Grace, had spent enough time away from him,was the best!
Grace didn’t agree at first....but he did his best to make her see they belonged together.

Cynthia was....i adored her! She was só curious, and yet só innocent....getting into trouble with Wesley being her favorite pasttime,i just loved her antics!

And Grace....poor girl,i was so glad to finally see her and Alex working past their troubles, she só deserved to get her own piece of heaven!

The only couple that was already happy,Hugh and Irene, deepened their bond. In spite or because of Hugh’s firm hand,i’m not sure, but i loved seeing them together.

So,in spite of hating to say goodbye,i have to say i’m happy with the end of this wonderful series!

This final book in the Domestic Discipline Quartet neatly concluded the four storylines that made it up.
What ruined it for me was the author's lack of knowledge, understanding of divorce in Great Britain.
I am not sure whether the series was set in Georgian, Regency or Victorian times but a divorce was very hard to obtain and the wife never came out with anything intact. Least of all the funds to start again in a new country.
The book spoke of Alex divorcing Grace as if it was a modern thing and could be achieved quickly and Grace would merrily be able to be set for life.

There were several other inconsistencies that a little research would have solved.
The use of living peer titles was a little cheeky- Earl of Spencer, Duke of Kent etc

This review will be for the entire four book series.

So I have mixed feelings on this series. As a pure escapist novel quartet it’s an enjoyable way to pass the hours. However, this is quite a taboo read for several reasons (yes, it has graphic sexual content but that’s not really my issue here.):

1. No Consent. None of the female participants consent to the role play, which in my opinion is a poor display of a bdsm alternative lifestyle, and can give people the wrong ideas as to what all this intricate dynamic entails. My assumption is that because the author has placed the story in the regency (?) period, and all the heroines were wives, that consent was unnecessary. This created several situations that as you’re reading you get the feeling that “this isn’t right”, which is unnerving.

2. Sadomasochistic. While I’m not an expert in this area this is quartet came across to me as much more of a sadomasochistic story. so while the author uses the term “discipline” often, this did not come across as a dominant/submissive relationship (again you need consent for this to work), but instead a story of sadist heroes and masochistic heroines. That’s fine, but I wasn’t prepared for this based on the blurb.

3. No consistency in the discipline. In the first two books the heroes explain the punishment they’re about to give and the number of lashings that will be received. In the second two books, the heroes just start going to town on the lashings without preamble and no prior communication on what will be happening. So, this felt almost borderline abusive. Again, taboo.

4. Did the heroines really enjoy it or was it just the heroes’s manipulation of their love? The only female character who seemed to really enjoy this lifestyle was Cynthia, and of course her husband Wesley enjoyed her enjoyment of it. Wesley was also the only male character who seemed to not take “great offense” at everything his wife did and so I felt their scenes were the most authentic and theirs were the only scenes where I never felt a hint of abuse. I definitely think there should have been more characters like these two. Cynthia and Wesley’s scenes were really the only scenes where I felt their was true joy for both of them In Their lifestyle choices.

5. Double standard? Power tripping? There is one scene, I think it’s in book 4, where Grace is found in Alex’s study. Of course he punishes her when she’s found and then claims that he NEVER went through her things, how would she feel if he had done so, etc. well, actually this is a blatant LIE. Maybe he never physically went through her letters, but he paid her entire household to spy on her for YEARS! This is way more egregious and the fact that hero doesn’t mention this and pushes the heroine for what he’s been doing for years is very off putting. In particular Alex and Edwin, are just looking for any tiny thing they can punish their wives for. Wife wants some space? Punished. Wife is angry her household has been acting as spies? Punished. Wife is angry that she’s been lied to? Punished. I mean, it’s just ridiculous.

6. Would a brother really be okay with showing his friends his sister being whipped, partially naked, and then be even more okay with said friend showing outward signs of sexual gratification during the display? This is pretty creepy and again plays well into that taboo feel of this whole quartet.

7. No communication. It’s my understanding, again not an expert here, that after such intense role playing that the hero and heroine should have a very open dialogue as to what has happened and their feelings on what has occurred and why. This did not happen in ANY of the books. Basically all you got after the punishment sessions is that the heroine says she’s sorry for xyz, while crying her eyes out, and hero tells her she’s forgiven. Then hero dominates her sexually. This is not communication and really this type of relationship has to have such open dialogue and trust for it to seem authentic and not abusive.

Like I said, this is nonconsensual sadomasochistic story of four couples. Is it an enjoyable easy read? Sure, but there’s also something kind of slimy and gross underneath some of these couples’ relationships. I would read more from this author but take these stories as pure fantasy and know there are many taboo moments that feel a bit smarmy.

Good, naughty fun! I enjoyed this series a great deal. It took me a bit to warm up to the intertwined stories because that’s not what I am used to, but once I got into it I found I really liked it that way. The couples really balanced each other out and the series was more enjoyable because when things were very angsty with one pair, I got to enjoy another couple that was in a better place. Spanking romances are definitely my thing. It is fun to indulge in these fantasy guys that are so dominant both sexually and in the relationship. It is also a lot of fun to have different kinds of partners for them and see the variety of ways they respond to it. Lastly, the sex scenes are so well written it’s easy to just fall into them and get a vicarious thrill.

Alex is determined to reconcile with his estranged wife even though they have been separated for several years. He still didn’t know why his wife, Grace had gotten so very angry at him, just that she had done so. Alex had tried before to get back together with Grace before, but had failed at doing so, this time however Alex had decided that he would spank her like his friends did their wives.

Alex kidnapped Grace and made her go with him to Bath so that they might attend Wesley and Cynthia’s upcoming Wedding, because he was good friends with Wesley. When Grace insulted him, instead of ignoring her, Alex spanked her in the carriage, but then afterwards when she started to cry, he held her in his arms.

After they arrived at Bath and Grace had met Cynthia and the men’s wives, she asked Alex if she was allowed to go to tea with them and was give permission, so later when the ladies were gathered together having their tea, they started discussing how their men spanked them and their reactions to their spankings. Later Cythia, Eleanor, Grace and Irene were all informed by Edwin that the eight of them were going to be sitting down to dinner that evening. Dinner went very well and everyone had a good time and enjoyed themselves. After dinner was over Alex and Grace went back to their rented house and Grace got angry at Alex and was insulting to him again, so she got another spanking. Grace got wet from the spanking and Alex noticed it and said something about it to her.

On another day Alex and Grace were at a dinner party which was being given by the countess, Wesley’s mother and Grace pretended to be drunk and she flirted with some of the men. When Alex and Grace got back to their rented house, Grace got a spanking for her behaviour. Afterwards Alex tells Grace that he would only have sex with her if she asked him to do so.

The evening before the wedding of Cythia and Wesley at which point the men are off togther, the ladies are talking Grace tells them about herself and her marriage troubles, and Grace has the idea of going through Alex’s study and searching his papers for something that would explain his recent actions regarding his efforts to reconcile with her.

After a denouement we end with a HEA for all four couples. Yay. Good Story and a Good ending for the series. Note that there is butt stuff in the story.

Mixed feelings

I have mixed feelings about this book. I was glad to finally have a happily ever after for the four couples in this serial, but it still bothers me that it's a serial, not a series. There are parts of it that made me sad. The societal norms during the period--the arrogance of the men, the double standard in acceptable behavior, the lack of open communication--I'm thinking period pieces may not be my genre.. It is well written for what it is, so if you like historical domestic discipline stories, it may be just your thing.

This is the fourth and final book in the "Domestic Discipline Quartet." What a heartfelt journey these two characters, Alex and Grace, have gone through. Golden Angel has brought us a journey that is so relatable regardless of the era. We find out why Grace left. We get to know Alex and what his thoughts are. I've been so wrapped up in these four couples and their marital escapades that I almost became giddy by the culmination of events at the end of the book. What a great read! What a terrific way to end an absolutely fun, adventurous and exciting series.

I skimmed through the other books in the series since this is a story spanning the trials and tribulations of four men and their brides or wives, which are somewhat interwoven.

From a character/plot point, I'll be honest, I was merely interested in this last book – to see Grace and Alex reconcile. As always I read a bit through the comments and okay, seems like misogyny is rife again what with harping on about Grace's infidelity while sure, we're fine with Alex's because he's a man (and a man of a certain era). Of course society back then would have viewed it as such as well but I'm always bewildered when today's readers do (and not out of a wish for historical accuracy).

So my personal issue was that the other couples in the series bored me to tears so I skimmed or skipped a lot. See, I didn't even mind Wesley and his family so much but I never felt that they went into any sorts of depths as to his relationship with his brothers or I probably read over this I didn't really get why Cynthia was his ward in the first place and then he had never seen her before their encounter in Bath... that made no sense.

I'll also say that something that botheres me greatly about the author is her approach to discipline. Mainly because I think she constantly infantilised the women (e.g. in this book Grace and Cynthia earn themselves a punishment for walking across the street from Cynthia's to Grace's house – on an evening in Bath... listen, we are not in East London) and then she is making the men seem rather dense and devoid of any communication skills (yes, they are at their wits' end with their unreasonable wives who cross the street at night alone, they cannot tell them verbally and impart on them that they are worried, there ought to be corporal punishment). Frankly, in all those books – I only once understood why this was happening (except for simply because the husband could and this is the theme of the books) and that was when Alex was in over his head over Grace having a hysterical breakdown when she learns more about his long ago mistress, who had treated her cruelly. I thought it was understandable because Grace got more and more worked up, and I didn't get the idea that it was Alex's first choice to discipline her, especially since he regretted what had transpired back then, but he was simply overwhelmed and didn't know how to calm her down. I guess I could appreciate that, since it had the desired effect.

All in all, Alex and Grace were easily the most interesting and likeable of all the characters in the series. I'll say though that I didn't quite get why the estrangement happened after their honeymoon – apparently Alex had waited to finalize his business with Grace's father until after that... that seems really strange, also to say 'one woman is as good as another' – it's not like he could have suddenly said, oh I'll marry somebody else whose father is easier to deal with after all he was already married. And he must have realised that Grace's father didn't particularly care for his daughters anyway, so the prospect of setting her aside wouldn't have troubled her father too much, I'd think. The timeline of the overheard insult didn't make much sense. But we'll just have to let go of logic here I guess.

See, I can kind of live with the too modern prose and tired tropes. Let's not make an issue out of it. A bit ago I was talking to someone about the possibility of AI writing novels such as this in future or it may even already been happening, given that the profit margin on selling this type of literature cannot be high. Here though my guess would be that while AI wasn't involved, this author is a victim of her copying and pasting to finish things quicker. A lot of things sound rather similiar that happen between the characters and the erotica is rather perfunctory at times. The worst offence to me is that I don't think anybody edited this – there are so many occasions where the pronouns are wrong, which are probably typos but it's confusing... I should have kept an example at hand but let's say it was something of the sort: "Alex would have hated a scene, so she would do anything to keep Grace from causing one." -- I find this always confusing and it's not that the author has four or more people interacting here, it's simply a husband and wife.

Something that also really bothers me and that extends to anything I have read by the author is that the rank, title and surname of the characters are so often not clear. The titles also sometimes get mixed up. I think in this book Hugh's and Eleanor's parents appear (as they are invited to the wedding) ... only a bit later Hugh and Irene are referred to by his father's title Harrington instead of his curtesy title Petersham (?). And all I thought was... wait what? When did the father die. Of course he didn't this was just the author being messy yet again. These things make it rather unreadable at times. Sure everyone is a Lord or a Lady but is Alex an Earl or a Viscount? I couldn't tell you. I think both was suggested – one here and the other in #3, which against speaks of poor editing.

There are also some word choices that confuse me – the author seems to think that masculine and male are interchangeable, which makes for some very odd sounding lines. See they are not: masculine is about the qualities that are attributed to a man, e.g. strength, courage, confidence. Whereas male merely describes a person's sex. That's another thing – males is not a plural for men, it's an adjective describing the sex of a group of people. Likewise female and woman are not interchangeable.

They talk throughout the series about Alex's and Grace's loooong estrangement. Yet in this book, I think at one point it is mentioned that it has been three years (which makes sense given Eleanor's and Grace's friendship, and the assumption that they are likely around the same age – if Grace had married rather young and as we know from #1 Eleanor had a later debut)... okay so it's been 36 months – and yet we get told how old and mature they both became over this looooong estrangement and how Grace has now wrinkles and Alex looks more distinguished and very serious. You could have thought it's been at least 15 years. I grant you, you can try and come to terms and think things through in three years but apparently they were both super busy with business ventures and lovers and trying not to be completely cut by society. I wonder when all that maturing happened.

At least there I have to give a concession – I thought that was nice and set Alex apart from other male characters that I read by this author, that he acknowledges at the end that even if they had talked things over back when everything went down, he wouldn't have apologized to her for saying the things that hurt her so deeply but would have expected her to accept that he didn't really mean them. Especially given how simple the author sets up things, that was almost a clever plot twist.

So anyway, for me best couple and plot in the series (though one could have done more with it). And if this had focused much more on them and we hadn't had to deal with all the others, I think I would have rated it higher. Grace and Alex were easily the best characters with the most interesting storyline I have read to date by this author (and yes I read a bit of her spy novels which in theory should really be down my alley but they just weren't... it seemed to me that the espionage was not its own thing that was mixing genres so much but more a device to do the usual but with a slightly more adventurous setting).

Alex is tired of living apart from his wife. He's tired of both of them taking different lovers. All he wants is her. He doesn't understand what made her run away from their marriage in the first place. Grace is heartbroken when she discovers her husband and father talking. He tells her father that one woman is as good as another. Unable to trust that he'd married her for love, she flees as soon as the honeymoon is over.

I enjoyed this book and the three books in the series far more than I really thought I would. I was told that this was a stand-alone series and that I could read them in any order I wished. I do not entirely agree with this assessment. While reading them in order isn't really a necessity, it would be for the best. There are references that just make a better sense of reading them in order. I really loved how she found a way to keep all couples involved in each and every book.

I really felt for Grace. It seemed she didn't really grow up with a loving and warm father. It doesn't really speculate on her relationship with her mother and her sisters. Either way, I fully understood her reaction to overhearing what Alex said to her father. She thought he was just like her father. I really adored how all the characters got a bit of a happy ending. It was like the author tied up the series with a nice little bow.

This Is officially the fourth book I've listened to involving S. Kitten. I've enjoyed her in every single one of them. She has this very proper voice that's very lovely to hear. I'd gladly listen to any other book she narrates. Especially if it's an audiobook in this time period. If I didn't know any better, I'd say she time-traveled to our time from that time!

I really enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the series very much. I personally would recommend that the series be read from beginning to end. However, it doesn't exactly have to be read in order. Each book has it's own story pretty much. It does slightly tie in the characters from previous books, though. It's not a genre I'd of normally read, but I'm glad I did.

I have now finished the Domestic Discipline series and I have to say the last two books have been my favourite!
.
It was really interesting reading Alex and Graces story. From the snippets of their tumultuous relationship that you get in the previous books, I was really keen to learn the truth of what really happened. And it was both heartbreaking and endearing! I loved the way Alex wooed Grace back, and how patient and carful he knew he had to be.
.
Cynthia and Wesley are still my absolute favs! Any scenes that had them in it were my favs! I love that Cynthia wasn’t shy or hesitant in her sexual desires. It’s so refreshing to read a female character that is just as keen and eager in certain fantasies and desires as her male counterpart!
.
Eleanor finally stopped getting on my nerves!
.
The epilogue in this book has got to be the best I have ever read!! There was more 🌶🥵🌶🥵 in that epilogue than there are in the totality of other books I’ve read!
.
My biggest issue with this series was they layout of it. Where it kept jumping from one couple to another (I know it often gave multiple perspectives of events) but at times it was rather frustrating as you were never able to fully get into one particular couples story. That was the missing wow factor for me - usually I have the urgency and desperation to read non stop as I am so eager to find out what happens with the main couple. But as everything was dragged and divided basically across all the books, I kept realising it would take a long while till it got to those points. Hence why it was easier for me to put the books down and get on with other things.
.
In conclusion I did enjoy them but I know they could have been even more enjoyable, even better, more addictive! Plus I would love to read a stand-alone novella or something, just with Cynthia and Wesley!!!

Great Story & Series! Great Audible Listen🎧

Claiming His Wife
Domestic Discipline Series, Book 4
By: Golden Angel
Narrated by: S. Kitten

I loved this series and all of it’s featured characters. This is Alex and Grace’s story but it includes the characters from the earlier books and a continuation of their storylines which are intertwined in one way or another. In this book they will all be together meeting for Wesley and Cynthia’s wedding. Alex is trying to woo his wife back and takes her with him to join the other couples. May be more than one wife getting claimed in this book. The lead males in the series, Edwin, Hugh, Wesley and Alex, are nobleman in their time and friends. They are the discipliners of their woman, Eleanor, Irene, Cynthia and Grace, who are society ladies and their wives. Each couple has their own unique story, as well as issues. They flip from one to the other, mostly in chronological order picking up from where their story left off or putting them in the current situation. Golden Angel does a wonderful job with the storylines, they are interesting and there is always something going on. I love how all the males compare notes with each other sharing their discipline methods and offering tips. Also love how the ladies share their curiosities and thoughts with each other. I got a kick out of the dialogue used from back in the day. I was glad to see all the couples problems and insecurities getting worked out. I highly recommend these stories.

I listened to the Audiobook, S. Kitten is a delight to listen to, her voice is melodic and her performance is entertaining. She is a fabulous storyteller, brings the characters to life from the pages to your ears. Thanks for another great & pleasurable listen🎧

She thinks Edwin doesn't realize she's with child, and worries over how to prod a declaration from him.

This audiobook contains adult situations, including spankings, whippings, backdoor play, and explicit scenes.

This audio book is rated sizzling!

This book is number 4 out of 5. I loved that although Alex gave up at first in the end he decided to fight for his wife no matter what! This was a great read and I loved it!

I enjoyed this whole series and was satisfied with the ending. The book was easy to read and the author did well with the content and historical data. Spelling and grammar were good. Loved the characters and the way that the author presented men in this time period, today they appear arrogant but in that time the suffrages had not yet arisen. These men were known as 'gentlemen' and in their own class were quite well behaved but in the poorer classes women were treated much more harshly and had more to complain about. Also loved the fashion and antics of the women to get what they wanted, but that too could be seen as manipulative as some authors such as Mary Shelly have pointed out, feeling that was not really appropriate behaviour for women who wanted to get equal standing with their husbands, which is a very pertinent point!
I was fascinated with 'the use of ginger' as punishment - not as a food- and when I see it in the supermarket it makes me smile ruefully and triggers memories of this series. I am glad that we have moved on from that habit. All in all well worth the read with some really good humour.

There are 4 main couples in this book. Each bringing a different form of marriage to the table. Cynthia is rebellious and about to be married. Irene is happily married. Elenor is pregnant and worried that her husband will not show her as much affection now. And then there is Grace. She wants a divorce and her husband wants to reconcile. It was a fun read to hear the advice to each other of these four women. But when they get together, trouble begins and bottoms are reddened. This story is filled with spankings and steam, in traditional Golden Angel style.

S. Kitten narrated this intricate story well. She was able to keep all the different characters separate and distinct. There were so many characters which S. Kitten was able to keep the story flowing and easy to follow. I enjoyed this narration and hope to hear more from S. Kitten.

A Thorough SPANK BANK OF DISCIPLINE AND Sex

This last book in the series is a hot and thorough culmination of all 4 couples and their dominant husbands naughty brides trope. I loved Cynthia and Alex's story, although it took the entirety of the series to reveal the one line she overheard that ruined the couple for way too many years. However, I appreciated their true love for each other, which was heightened precisely because they had to overcome some really overwhelming betrayals and hurtful misunderstandings. Alex's determination to save his marriage despite these transgressions was truly admirable and freaking hot!!!
Then we have all the hot scenes and drama of the other couples and you have yourself one of the hottest books I've read and I have myself a new favorite author. Wowza.!

This series has set the feminist in me back 100 years. And I'm ok with that because this was a well-written, spicy, guilty pleasure. But beware because these male characters are narcissistic and chauvinistic to a t.

Half the time I was thinking FIGHT 🤺 BACK 🤺 every time the men justified their reasons for spanking while telling their women why they deserved it and what they did wrong. It was the kind of stuff that would have me singing the Cell Block Tango from Chicago if this happened in real life. However, if you go in knowing that and wanting that behavior from these characters this entire series is a very compelling, engaging read. If that isn't what you're looking for, sit down and brew yourself a cup of chamomile tea 🍵 because your blood pressure is about to go up.

I'd rate the whole series 4.5 ⭐️

A spanking good end

I waited to read this book because I just didn't want the series to end. The buildup over Grace and Alex's story was well worth it but longer than it needed to be.

One callous statement by him hurt her so badly that she left her new husband. Rejected by her family, she became the ton scandal to force his hand. Divorce was her goal. She'd rather be alone than in an unhappy marriage. But when did what she wants ever matter?

Alex was stumped when Grace abruptly left. What did he do? He bided his time but he'll have her by his side, even if it's the last place she wants to be.

Miscommunication, immaturity and pride kept Grace and Alex separated. Only when they laid bare the contents of their hearts will they reach their HEA. A great ending to the series but there were too many scenes featuring the other couples and the run-on sentences nearly killed me. I love that the series ended with Eleanor and Edwin, just as it began. And she finally got to hear those three little words from her husband. Only took him four stories to get there.

“All’s Well That Ends Well.” That sums it up nicely.

Claiming His Wife, the last book in the Domestic Discipline Quartet, is as good as the previous three books. Although this is supposed to be the story of Alex and Grace, we see all others again too. I loved how Alex finally acted on Grace’s behaviour. Despite everything, the love was still there.
Every couple gets their own HEA and there is an epilogue as well. I loved it!

This review is based on the audiobook.
I liked the narrator. She has a very pleasant voice and used different voices for the different characters, so it’s easy to follow.

This is the last book in the series.

This story is about Alex and Grace. They are already married but have been separated for a couple of years. Alex wants Grace back and this story is about how he gets her back.

I love reading about what Alex is going through to get Grace back. He is such a gentleman and I feel for him and Grace.

The book brings all the couples back in to this story and Cynthia keeps getting all the ladies into mischief.

I enjoyed this series and I have read just about everything Golden Angel has written. This author is amazing.

Happy trails

All four friends are married with one baby and one on the way. This is an absolutely fantastic series. The author takes you through different problems fitting the couple's and the time period. There's a lot spankings and glorious sex. But there is all the emotions you could experience and how they deal with them. Most of all, a lot of love! This is an adult only book. I recommend this whole series. Once I started reading it I couldn't put it down. Happy reading.

This series got better with each book!

I really love how Golden Angel tied all the books together. It made it so much more fascinating to read. Each book added a new couple to focus on and in this one when the wives get together, it is absolutely hilarious and so very steamy when they get caught being mischievous! The entire quartet kept me entranced from the first page to the last!

Completion

This book wraps up the stories of all four couples with the focus on Grace and Alex. They are struggling to reconcile after a misunderstanding and pride drove them apart near the beginning of their marriage. Alex is determined to get her back but Grace doesn't trust his motives.

All four men use discipline to keep their wives in line but it's consensual and they ultimately enjoy it. Lots of heat. Plenty of love. And finally an HEA for all of them.
