despite the not-so-enticing title (chinese webnovels' are so peculiar sometimes it kinda stuns me), i really like this book. the angst, flashbacks, even the sweet parts made it all worthwhile to root for the couple and watch them rebuild their relationship and clearly fix the core problem that broke them apart before. it has this certain somber mood throughout, and the writing is more of simplistically raw, which made all the realistic vibes obvious and welcomed. it's so nice to see 2 mature people trying to enchance their past relationship and consistently turning it into a healthy one. not to mention both characters are distinctive on their own, and i love how contradictive their personality on handling particular issues which had more to do with their own ideals that later took a part on their separation. yuan ye's especially so refreshingly straightforward and thanks to him, the story didn't really fall into frustrating path, which may be inevitable considering both fang shaoyi & him are two stubborn character at the end of the day. moreover i love how their professional career life were explicitly shown here, they're really intriguing to read too even when it's not overly deep in terms of execution. enjoyed this a lot overall!

I really like reading stories that involve mature characters. I haven't read that many novels about the Entertainment industry but I think this is one that goes more in depth about the intricacies of filmmaking. It was an interesting read even though I don't know how much all of it was real or not, but it seemed realistic enough for it to be believable.

I had an immediate connection to the MC (Yuan Ye) and ML (Fang ShaoYi) because I could see some parts of myself in them, funnily enough. They weren't perfect as individuals and as a couple as well, but I liked the way they navigated through the consequences after their divorce and their eventual reconciliation. It seemed very real and I loved their interactions and dynamics with each other. They balanced each other out and they continued to grow and learn with each other.

This novel didn't have much drama in it and it mostly focused around the main couple and it could be said to be a slice of life type of novel, but I didn't find it boring at all. I was invested in their story and relationship and even though the ending was predictable, I was happy with it.

The other side characters also rounded out the story quite nicely, with Ji Xiaotao giving most of the humour.

This was so, so good! I loved the romance, and the two main characters. The pacing was good, and the flashbacks were well timed. I stayed up until 2 a.m. on a weekday to finish it, and I was laughing, crying, swearing, or squealing in joy the whole time. I loved FSY and YY together. They were so freaking cute! As well as that, the overall realisticness of the book was very refreshing, and I really liked that even though there was loads of chemistry and fit between the two of them, the romance still took its time, and made it worth the while. I definitely want to reread this book someday, and highly recommend it. 5 stars!

The special thing about this novel was the way author showed love deserves to be cherished and even when things are difficult and you choose to leave...it's okay to come back and pursue your love again

Both main characters were mature and honestly made me think maybe my thirty's would be bearable too.

I left it in middle for few days but after picking it up again, managed to read whole thing in four days (even when I should have been focusing on other priorities)...so I feel that says a lot about how author's writing style is alluring to me.

P.s. I am still in conflict about how to feel for side cp.

This author is an absolute master when it comes to characterization and conflict.

This book is about a couple trying to get back together after being divorced for a year. These two obviously still love each other, so the big question is: why did they get divorced? The author keeps this answer from the reader for a long time, revealing it only in the latter half of the story. But when the truth comes out, it's s just so realistic and utterly painful, it all clicks together.

Sometimes love is not enough, and actions done with the best intentions can still have the worst consequences. I love that this story is about not only being a better person for your significant other but yourself too.

Also, I like that they are in their mid-thirties. It's always refreshing when people remember that life exists after your twenties and you're allowed to have hopes and dreams at any age. It's never too late to start over.

I have two main reasons for dropping one star. First, the story takes place in the entertainment industry and it goes on about it in detail, but I was not that interested. Second, almost no characters got any kind of development apart from the main couple. There's a side cp, but they were so far in the background, barely mentioned even as individuals, that I just didn't care about them.

Aside from that, it's a beautiful story regarding the labor that is love.

While reading this, I have a lot to say. But I really can't remember anymore.

So I'll just sprawl out whatever I remembered.

1. This is my reaction to this book for like 50 chapters to this 😐😐😐😐😐😐

Right. No reaction at all. The characters? Don't care. The plot? There is no plot. The relationship? Not good.

2. My reaction to this book after chapter 50s was 😦😦😦😦😊😊😊😊😁😁😁😁😎😎😎

Because this book only has its value AFTER the divorce scene.

The divorce scene is pretty good. I kinda think it made every boring thing in the first 50 chapters finally clicked. It's probably the author style, but if the author was writing this book in chronological order I would've liked it more (but then this book will have no value anymore, so it's honestly the same anyway)

3. Yang Siran would've been the better main character. No hate for Yuan Ye and Fang Shaoyi, but although I liked their development and their character (AFTER they get back together later on, I swear), Yang Siran is far way more more more better way more dimensional in anyway. Can't say about Geng Jinwei, because I honestly don't care about their relationship LOL

The thing I love the most was the fact that this book is about how Yuan Ye always feel like he is the only that had to make the most sacrifice and Fang Shaoyi felt hurt when his sacrifice was rejected, it was a good reason for a break up. I like it.

But honestly, I really just not really that into it to the book though. The only thing I feel excited was when they meet Xiao Ke and Zhou Zui, mind you.

Well, anyway, this book is just your average slice of life adult romance. Fine enough for a time filler. 3/5

The whole time I just kept wondering why they got divorced... the love the couple shared was evident throughout. They clearly belonged together and that came across so well.Don't expect any knives or crazy confrontations. It is not a face slapping high drama kind of story. It is pretty muted and slow paced in that aspect.

The entertainment industry setting became the double edged sword that brought together and slowly tore apart our movie emperor and writer. We get to see the good and bad behind the scenes of that world too. This story may frustrate you precisely because of the bubbling feelings and miscommunication shadowing the relationship. There are definitely heart- warming and spicy(not many) moments along the way.

What I loved about it was that i could totally imagine a real life couple going through something like this. It is a Happy Ending btw.(P.S the side couple was a bit dodge and went left for me but gladly the mess was not explored in the main story)

very sweet story about two people finding themselves and rebuilding their relationship after their divorce. personally, i felt that fang shaoyi could have been a bit more... idk, more? what i mean to say is yuan ye is mostly the one pursuing him, whereas shaoyi is more of the cold, distant type. ah, that's also not very accurate - he's more of a behind-the-scenes guy like . still, i wish he did something more in their relationship. the ending is not too bad though. have to emphasise that the translator did an excellent job as well!

The pace of this book is insanely slow, but that's how it was supposed to be I guess... It deals with the feelings of two men who are divorced despite still being in love with each other, which I think is a topic that I hardly ever read about, making this something different from my norm.
I will warn you that this book is an overdose of fluff, but it is just too slow with almost no progress or drama in the plot with feelings being the highlight.
Now why did I give it a 3.5 despite complaining about it's pace so much? Because I managed to get through it to the end. I managed to remain hooked and that's the charm of any good book.
It's very well written and translated, and the characters are also very well woven. I adored the protagonists so much and it was a good book to immerse your feels into. It was an easy read as well.

To be honest, the writing is far from perfect. There were some parts of the book where I feel like the transition to the next scenes or povs were too sudden and weird. I did encounter some difficulties trying to figure out whose pov I was currently reading at the time. I am not sure if this problem is because of the original writing or the translation.

However, I was also completely taken in by the characters and the development of their personalities and relationship. Both main characters were very mature and charming in their own way. It's been a while since I have rooted for a couple to get together this much. I was truly invested in their journey to fix their broken relationship from beginning till the end.

Very realistic romance. First time reading rekindling love between divorced couples but would like to read more novels of similar couples. Honestly, I learned a lot through this novel. Things that one should and should not do to keep a healthy relationship. The ending was to be expected, but it was still too abrupt. The story was dragged far too long for it to suddenly end like that. Main couple aside, I wanted more of the side couple. I hope they would have their own novel as well.

DNF. The reason for the divorce (which is withheld until midway) is cruel and inane. MC gets punished for a mere slip of the tongue. If this is what 10 years of devotion gets you...MC, leave the damn man. Plotline around the ML's acting gigs bored me to tears, and the sole Taiwanese character in the book ends up being the bad guy which I personally found offputting.

It's ok, good writing but very slow paced story. I like the story but I just hoped for more depth in the characters development. I like the author's other works because she manages to create a very real and emotional narrative. Something falls short for me in this story, maybe it is the translation or maybe its the story itself. I don't know. I enjoyed it but I wanted more from the characters.

Litterly fuck the Taiwanese guy, and the ending was unexpected . ML cute like a child, but also fuck him too for making the MC cry when they divorced. SO NICE THAT THEY MET THE CAST OF TATTOO QAQ

DNF - at chapter 50. I usually love angst, but this was not angst- it really was not my type of book but I commend the skilful writing and passably likeable characters.

I don’t think this book was written for a reader like me. The pacing was so frustrating and illogical but I tried so hard to persevere because I’d enjoyed the author’s previous work “Tattoo”, but it felt like I was clawing out my own eyes as each chapter passed.

Eventually I started skimming through chapters because for the life of me, I could not understand why the author would leave the reason for their divorce towards the end of the book. Perhaps some people like being led by the nose but it made everything feel really anti-climactic when the MC boldly announces he will pursue the ML, only to make you think was there really ever a need for him to do so?

The reason for this divorce was plain spite and honestly there was no need for the MC to try to emphatically win over the ML because the ML insisted on doing what he did even when the MC stated clearly that he didn’t want to divorce.

In my opinion to plainly hurt a person for making a mistake by using divorce as punishment, is cruel. The ML clearly intended on hurting the MC the entire time simply because the MC did what he always did- spoke before thinking. After realising the reason for the divorce I didn’t feel the need to finish this book.

Maybe because I’m a child of divorced parents, to see someone do this to another person because they were upset and being spiteful and because there were problems that they didn’t bother to work through first; I eventually felt that this story made divorce look like a joke to this couple. As a means of punishment because the dynamics of a relationship were changing.

I couldn’t continue after feeling that way. I’m not really disappointed with the book, the author writes beautifully, but this story became a trigger for me emotionally and I didn’t want to delve into that.

If people don’t have qualms or personal attachments to divorce then you may feel differently when reading this book- but it was a big no for me.

Won’t be picking this up again for my own emotional sanity.
