From the best selling author of Fancy comes another most scandalous tale, often upsetting and disturbing.
Resigned to the life of a mistress of a rich, white, Southern gentleman, Winnie decides that to better her life no sin is too great, no crime too horrendous, turning her back on man and God.
The author did a good job of developing Winnie as a character. This is the only reason I finished the book. I really became invested and wanted to know what would happen to her. The plot was, however, rather odd. I did find all of the typos (quite instead of quiet, women instead of woman, a instead of an) annoying. I'm not sure if I'll read the next book.
I was so in love with fancy! But this is amazing! I thought Jolene had a rough life. This story is a true heart tugger. Engaged me so much emotions crying happy anger so much distrust how can you bounce back and in the end it's all love a very very awesome fairy tale! Michael Edwin q is an amazing author! I can't wait to read the next book.I highly recommend this book to anybody and everybody it is a little sexual and some of the things are very bad that happened to a woman, but this book can help you build strength and see how hard it actually is to be a black woman in the USA
I cringed while reading this book. So many HORRIBLE DESPICABLE People were laced thru this tale of Terror. Its crazy to think Nuns..and Even a Preacher would Turn ANYONE out.. This Book was triggering.. It was deep.. Now Some actually want to Pass to Be Black.. as a Black Woman I feel most should read this..and Then I doubt if They would want to pass for anything but what they are.. Winnie had a rough life.I would like to have read more about her parents.. The Life of a Light Skinned Black Woman in those Times WAS NOT easy. Or Fancy..💙
What a story of such hardships through evil and how one can survive its effect on your life. Then to find a purpose and love when all seems lost. The story seemed hopeless and hard to read and then sun slips out to chase all the shadows away. I enjoyed the book after all.
Thank Goodness! Winnie finally got a happy ending!
Reading this book was kind of depressing! It seemed like everyone that befriended Winnie was just out to get her, even people whom you wouldn't suspect it from. So I was glad that someone came into her life, got a chance to know her, they fell in love, got married, and now she is pregnant. What more else!
Basically, whatever happened in the first sequence was repeated in the second sequence with small differences. I understand her try to bring it all together but I just read the same book over again. I I will read the last book just to see how she wraps it up. No
I made myself finish the book. It was so redundant. Winnie goes from one situation to another, and they are all similar. She prides herself on ring her own higher power, but yet can't get herself out of every position she finds herself in. She constantly needs someone else to rescue her. This book was a bit juvenile, high school romance.
There were a few times while I was reading this book that I became discouraged, but I kept reading. I'm glad I did. There were a few surprises along the way that was the reason I kept reading. I enjoyed reading this book.
I am so happy to see a happy ending to this amazing, tragic, journe. This has become the testimony of one of the most unprotected essential members of society.. The Black Woman
I loved Winnie's strength, determination, caring personality and finally her beliefs in God. Imagine a grown woman having tears in her eyes at the end.
