I read this book via an Amazon KINDLE Unlimited download. Growing up almost every woman might remember having their mother read them the poem “Wednesday’s Child” where every child had a certain quality: Monday’s child is fair of face Tuesday’s child is full of grace Wednesday’s child is full of woe Thursday’s child has far to go Friday’s child is loving & giving Saturday’s child works hard for a living A child born on the Sabbath day is a perfect child in every way
However, in this devotional book, author Cynthia Heald wants to show ALL women to realize that they’re already full of grace and not just Tuesday’s child. Ms. Heald wants to show all of her Christian “sisters” how they can become one by taking each one who reads this book on a meaningful, miraculous, spiritualistic journey in order to discover how real the Lord’s grace is for them, even more so than they’ve ever known previously. For we must remember NUMBERS 6:25 [ESV]
“The LORD make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you.”
Through the motivational pages of this study book, Ms. Heald takes her “sisters” on an awe-revealing expedition which will show them the Lord’s never-ending graces, and how they’re enhancing their lives each day without even their knowledge; as well how they can now spread His graces unto others each day of their lives.
For wanting to share the Lord’s graces with other in the gentle manner she has, as a reviewer of Christian I’m grateful to give Ms. Heald the 5 STARS she’s received from me.
I liked the the questions mostly had you going to Scripture to read and think on. However, 2/3rds of the book was snippets of other people's quotes or passages from their written work... not Heald's. It just seemed a lazy way to write a study. Other than answering the questions, the topic wasn't expanded on very much (besides those quotes/passages from other people).
I didn't get very much out of it and the chapters seemed more redundant than building on the topic.
I did this as a summer Bible study and was pleasantly surprised. I usually find these type of studies lacking in scripture. However, there were many references to the Bible throughout and I liked the progression of the study.
This book was such a gift! I never realized the wealth of Scripture that speaks on God’s grace and will be returning to meditate on the Scripture and truths in this book often!
I typically don't like Bible study books designed for groups -- most of them seem very basic to me, and I like an intellectual challenge -- but for some reason I can't quite explain, Cynthia Heald's books tend to make me think more deeply than most. I hadn't read any of her books in quite a few years before this one, and I didn't really connect with the first few chapters, so I was afraid I had outgrown her writing. But the later chapters went deeper than the early chapters, and I found myself looking forward to my time working through these lessons.
It was okay. I got this free at a women's retreat our church hosted. There was a table of books out for us to choose one or two, and this was one of the books I chose. It wasn't exactly what I was expecting. I find it hard to believe it can be considered written by the author, since about half of it is just quotes from other people or the Bible. I thought it was going to be more of a book to read, but it was more of a workbook. I did enjoy the passages it had me take a closer look at and did gain something from it.
