Once upon a time, humankind ruled the world while lycans and vampires lived in secret. This is no longer that time.
Calina
I have thirty-six hours to live. Thirty-six hours to find a solution. Thirty-six hours to kill them all.
My friends. My family. My subjects.
It's a cruel fate, one my maker subjected me to over a century ago when she placed me in this hell. I learned then that freedom is a falsehood. Escape doesn't exist. I'm a ticking time bomb, slated to erupt.
Until he appears from above. A vampire. A walking god with icy blue eyes. He claims to be our salvation, but I see him for who he really is--the devil in disguise.
Jace
I don't want to be king, but I'll become one if it means I can have her--the gorgeous ice queen I found waiting for me inside Lilith's labs. She feigns indifference, claiming I do nothing for her, but I see the embers stirring in her stunning hazel eyes.
Only there's more to her than a pretty little face. She's neither vampire nor lycan. An immortal without a classification. A secret I must now contain in a world collapsing in chaos.
Welcome to the new beginning. My name's King Jace. Allow me to be your guide...

I’ve been looking forward to this one and it didn’t disappoint it carries on moving the momentum towards a brilliant cliffhanger that definitely left me agog and wanting more.
Calina is head researcher for Lilith in bunker 47 she’s been created and raised in the lab herself surviving cruel punishments and experiments at Lilith’s hands. She is not quite human herself an immortal being that is neither vampire nor Lycan. Lilith’s death forces her to play her hand but after finally being liberated from the bunker she now finds herself the property of Jace an ancient royal vampire who we’ve met previously.
These two are instantly drawn to each other and with Jace, it’s a complete attraction of body and mind he finds Calina’s intelligence and thought process fascinating but it will take some drastic circumstances to force him to admit to himself the truth of just what Calina may mean to him.
This had heat and chemistry it can’t be read as a stand-alone as events have occurred previously that tie in with this so you do need the background from the previous book. I liked the fact that we got to catch up with some previous characters this was also fast-paced and the finale here was so truly shocking leaving me wanting the next book like yesterday. As usual, this was well written and it was a fabulous addition to the series. I voluntary reviewed a copy of Kingly Bitten.
I’ve waited so long for this book and it didn’t disappoint! I loved everything about it: the plot that kept me guessing, the characters that had so much depth, the dialogue that was so engaging and witty, the sex scenes that were steamy AF, and that epilogue! HOLYY HELL! The epilogue was basically a cliffhanger for the next book. I’m going to be in agony waiting for book 6! I can’t recommend this series enough. I absolutely adore it!
We pick up where we left off. Still have an issue with the abuse of humans. Wish now that we are in book 5 there would have been some major shake ups in this area. However, the major move Jace makes ..... there is hope book 6 will see changes.
Calina was the perfect match for Jace. Her intelligence and ability to strategize made this a thrilling read. Granted there is a lot of sexy time and it is great!
Book 6 has me reeling! I am so confused, excited, and hopeful for what may be coming!
First, you need to read the previous books to understand what is going on!! Calina and Jace are perfect for each other. The events of this book had me on the edge of my seat and wanting the next book, NOW.

“Calina sfidava ogni aspettativa.
This was pretty good. I definitely liked the first half of the book better than the second half. I thought there was way too much of and too much focus on Jace and Calina "studying" each other's thoughts and talking to each other in their minds because they both thought the other was the most brilliant person. Surprisingly, I don't feel like I really got to know much about Jace and I was never truly able to connect with Calina.
Whoa... I've been looking forward to Jace's story ever since we first met him in Chastely Bitten (the first in the Blood Alliance series), and boy, oh boy, it did not disappoint. The handsome prince with the icy stare, a master strategist with his eye on the endgame, Jace didn't just exceed my expectations, he blew them apart.
I had wondered about his match and whether anyone would ever be good enough for MY Jace. And then we were introduced to Calina, a woman who is his equal in all things. She's strong, clever, a problem solver that is the perfect partner for a prince destined to be king in a dystopian world where vampires and lycans rule and humans are nothing other than blood banks.
And that ending! Wow! We might have to wait a little for the next book in the series, but my God, I know it'll be worth it. Good things are always worth the wait.
If you enjoy supernatural, dystopian-y reads on the darker side, you NEED this completely addictive world.
Foss’s writing only seems to get better and better, if that’s even possible. Calina is such a great female lead, having been basically programmed, yet still free-thinking.
Once again, I couldn’t help but admire Foss’s style … now that I’m 5 books into this series, I found myself reminiscing about the fact that I’ve been submerged in this incredibly dark world … yet there is always light to be found. She has this way of painting things to be incredibly dark … but as you read on—and it could take multiple books to get to this point—you realize it really isn’t all that dark. That was more world-building to show you the climate, etc. but there are admirable, lovable (yummy) heroes & heroines in the process of bringing about the needed change and things really have been looking better from the very beginning … even if you didn’t see it at the time. (Midnight Fae Academy comes to mind here as well. READ IT!!)
Utterly brilliant.
While enjoying this one, it occurred to me that I absolutely need to re-read this entire series. I’m not a re-reader, but I think going back now, I’ll appreciate the experience at least as much as the first time around, if not more. This is one that won’t get old and I expect I’ll notice more little things that I hadn’t the first time.
5 stars for epic world-building and great writing. 5 stars for re-readability.
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
ALL the stars. I’ll be DYING until I can read on in this incredible world.
Audio: The audio is really great. Sarah’s accent still trips me up quite a bit, which is another reason I need to re-read. I think I miss things while being distracted trying to figure out what she actually said. Her voice is beautiful and her performance is on-point. She just doesn’t pronounce things 100% perfectly. Little things, but they can change up the message and make me need to mentally catch up.
Kale is perfect, nice voice, great performance, smooth delivery. Still: a 5-star performance, overall.
I have no word. I love this series so much! I usually don’t write reviews but I had to for this one. This series reminds me a little of the “mindfuck” series so you know it’s good. The plot and spice are chefs kiss and I can’t believe what I just read! Love the build up and I can’t wait for the last book in the series to come out on the 22nd!! This story just gets better and better and I’m so curious how it will end. I read all five books in 6 days because I’m obsessed❤️
Delicious. Dark. Decadent. Draws you in. All of that and more. So many intricacies. So much world-building. All the words. And the story. I loved this book.
The characters grab you from the beginning. Old characters come back in new ways. New characters make you feel. I could say so much, but don’t want to risk spoiling anything.
Let’s just say that if two characters were ever made for each other, Jace and Calina are those two. Their chemistry and minds just click. They are an amazing couple.
I’m just gonna go over here and enjoy my book hangover now.
Kingly Bitten is the most recently released installment of the “Blood Alliance” series and I have a feeling that we are close to the end of the series. Not sure though, I mean, not sure what this author’s true plans are for the series and we probably won’t know until the next book is released, I am hoping though that this is not the end or even close to it, I am really not ready to say goodbye to this world or these characters. But I think I went in with Kingly Bitten having super high expectations and I can say that this one didn’t quite meet them as I had hoped it would. I had seen many glowing reviews of this book and while I really enjoyed it, I just didn’t quite get the same thrills as say the earlier books in the series. Now it did have its moments that reminded me of book one (and those that have read book one and this one know what I am referring to) but I really didn’t know what to make of this pairing. I just didn’t quite connect with it as I would have liked. It has many of the political build-ups of course, and it does contain all of our favorite well loved characters that we have loved seeing, BUT, at the end of the day I struggled with this one. I think I just didn’t understand the connection between Jace and Calina. I think this book felt more like a filler to prepare for book six. We do get to find out what happened to Cam (and man my heart goes out to him and what his mate will have to suffer to find their way to their HEA) I really liked seeing all the machinations that Lillith had gone to because she is one piece of work villain that is for sure. But it was the romance that I just didn’t fully connect with and I think maybe I wanted so much from Jace’s book and I just didn’t quite feel it. So while I had some fun times with this book, and it definitely has its moments, it won’t be worth a reread unfortunately but eager to see what this author brings to the table with book six.
I have just finished this book about 30 seconds ago and here I am writing my review because holy shit snacks that was good! This is a steamy ride which kept me on the edge of my seat for the entire book. And the twist at the end...DID...NOT...SEE...THAT...COMING!!!!
So I am not known for my long reviews, unless of course I am rambling on about something completely outside the book. Did you know that my cat likes to suck on me, but only if I am wearing something fleecy. Doesn't do it to anyone else in the house, only me. Anyway, back to the actual book and not the strange habits if my weirdo cat. Kingly Bitten has us meeting Calina, who might actually be my favourite female character in this universe because she basically doesn't take any of Jace's shit right from the start and I respect that. And now Jace...well there is a reason that he is the King! I am not going into the story because you will just have to read it and find out...yep, I am going to be that jerk and I am not even sorry about it.
This was really an incredible book full of action, smexy times and as you have guessed, a rather large twist at the end. I really enjoyed it and it would go down as my second favourite now for the series (sorry Ryder, but you got bumped to third. Edon, Silas and Luna, you are still safe in number one).
I received an ARC and because...wait...fuck, the cat is trying to suck on me again....I have given a honest review.
Throughout this series we’ve received glimpses of Jace and his character as a player but this story shows a completely different side to him, which I absolutely loved❣️Jace is on a mission with the rest of the rebellion to find Cam. However, he uncovers a Bunker instead with Calina, the head researcher whose strategic thinking rivals his in a way that he is intrigued by her and also her unique scent😍
Calina is supposed to have died in the Bunker where she was head researcher. But when protocols are activated, she starts to defy what she’s been taught in order to survive along with her two friends and their pup and soon finds herself in the hands of ancient ones😳
I had some suspicions early on in the story about a certain person and it turns out I was right…though that said it’s probably a smoke screen and will undoubtedly be uncovered in the next book😁 Can’t wait to see what happens in Cruely Bitten next🤩 I received an advanced copy and voluntarily leave my honest review❤️
Was so looking forward to Jase's book as it seems like a while since i have been in this world, i totally devoured this book in one sitting...and what a story this was, these books just get better and better, this has got to be my favourite so far, the twists are around every corner, nothing is what it seems, betrayal, secrets, lies and so much more in this book, believe me you will have whip lash with what is happening, superb again from Lexi i absolutely love her world building and her story telling is second to none.
Calina has just 36 hours until doomsday to find out everything see can and get out of bunker 47 before it blows up along with some friends she has made in this bunker in the last 1000 years. Jase and Darius are on there way to find out what is going down in bunker 47 not knowing that Calina is going to be a important doctor to have on side with all the knowledge she has being Lilith's prodigy all her life.
This book out of them all has the most intrigue, with twists that you never know what is going to happen next, from action to hot steamy heat between Calin and Jase to the most smoking hot sexy scenes of them all that it will blow your mind, holy moly hotness phew !! This is going to frazzle your mind with the roller coater ride you are in for trust me. Brilliant yet again from this talented author.
PLEASE MAKE NOTE: While this could be read as a standalone, it is better to read the entire series first. OH MY GOSH!! This is this BEST in the series YET! Such strong characters, and lots of world building in this novel. Lexi expands on origins of this world, while introducing my favorite female character to date. The chemistry between Jace and Calina is complete FIRE, while delving deeper into a betrayal that is completely unexpected, and then....MIND BLOWING REVELATIONS! This novel left me emotional, hopeful, and in some ways, vengeful. I was so happy to see some of my favorite characters from this series return and play pivotal roles in the continuation of this saga. I look forward to reading the next in this series next year. Well done, Lexi....as always.
Oh my goodness 😦 this book. That ending. I am dead. I need Cam and Izzy’s book like… yesterday.
Woooow
I’ve been reading this series quite slowly, knowing the last book wasn’t out and with the preorders for Jan 24 now out, thought it was safe for me to read the penultimate book. And oh my goodness how wrong I was!
That ending! How am I supposed to wait a whole month?!
Anyway. That’s enough of Cam. Poor poor Cam 😭
Jace and Calena were amazing. I loved loved loved them so much. This was definitely the best book in the series so far.
Another excellent installment of the Blood Alliance series! But Calina and Jace aren’t like many of the other couples we have met previously. Yes, she is strong willed, and doesn’t quite conform or fully understand the « rules » she is supposed to follow in the world of vampires and lycans - a headstrong and beautiful woman is always at the center of who catches the eye of the MMC. But Calina is brilliant - the head researcher in one of Lilith’s labs, but also one of her most successful experiments, and the subject of years of abuse and torture by her maker. But now Lilith is dead, and protocols are in place to protect the lab and everything they have done there - it must be destroyed, along with Calina. Except, if Lilith is dead, could she just not comply?
Jace is an awesome alpha vampire. He is strategic and logical, and their plans are coming together now that Lilith has been taken out by Ryder and Willow. But they can’t show their cards yet, and they need to find where she kept all of her info - they need to find Cam and really get the revolution moving. But Jace didn’t take into account Calina. She is his match in every way. Not only is she beautiful and intriguing, she is brilliant, and has the same strategic, logic mind that he has, which turns him on even more than her appearance does. It’s also very fun to see the reactions others have as things unfold and Jace becomes more and more entangled with the woman, when he has never been one for monogamy in the past. Their back and forth, sizzling chemistry and passion, and strategic thinking make them a force to be reckoned with. And there is plenty of steam, as usual.
There’s also a thread here that is a bit interesting, and different. We have transmissions happening that are from Lilith - recorded before her death - to a mysterious « Liege ». Someone who is supposedly at the head of the operations she has been running, someone who is clearly an elder who has seemingly been sleeping until recently, and is now being informed of everything that has been happening and how to proceed. There are hints at who this could be throughout, but the final reveal is maybe not exactly surprising, but there is a very intriguing twist that is an excellent set up for the next book. I like the direction it will take us, and am looking forward to the next chapter in the series!
Just finished Jace and Celinas book and not gonna lie I was kinda disappointed😭don’t get me wrong I liked this book but felt like the romance was lacking. In my opinion it felt like the book centered on everything else that was going on, like finding cam and decrypting liliths logs that the romance felt rushed and not really sincere. I wanted more of Celina and Jace and what they’re REALLY like if that makes sense. Instead I didn’t really connect with them as I usually would when I read the other characters in this book series. Quite frankly it felt like this book was instead centered on Cam instead of Jace and Celina. I wanted to learn more about Celina and Jace in-depth. Especially considering what jace was like before he met her. But instead we got a rushed relationship and a book that felt like a prologue to Cam and Izzy’s books and their future. I was really looking forward to this book and the blurb got me hooked. Especially considering Celinas unique past and upbringing. Plus the Jace we all knew and loved in the past books? I was instantly excited to see what he was going to be like regarding his relationship with Celina. But instead it was a let down😔Celinas character quite frankly was boring (as much as it pains me to say it😭) I really tried connecting with her but I couldn’t because she felt like a robot. And her relationship with Jace being rushed didn’t help matters. All in all I’m excited for cams book that I know will be filled with heartache but regarding this book it was a let down🤷🏻♀️I’m hoping cams book is better.
I waited a very long time for this book and honestly Lexi is a master world builder and storyteller. I like the pacing and there were many ‘wtf’ moments that kept me wanting more. My main complaint with this book was that reading it felt kind of repetitive. I was looking forward to reading in Jace’s voice after his cameo in Chastely Bitten, but this story was kind of underwhelming. The relationship between Jace and Calina was lukewarm and I kinda had to force myself to finish this book. Compared to the other books in the Blood Alliance series, this one was my least favorite but still a good read. That being said, I’m looking forward to the next book and seeing how this story plays out.
Wow, just WOW! Can I say I'm shocked and stunned by everything that went down in Kingly Bitten?? I really just expected to figure out where Cam was, and end the series, but OMG am I glad that Ms. Foss decided to entice me into a wild goose chase filled with all the yummy vampiric sexiness she could muster!
Calina is amazing as the researcher Lillith has been giving all this information to for the last 130+ years!! Sexy, stubborn, and wickedly smart, I loved watching her go head-to-head with Jace, and sometimes Darius as well! She has all this information, but doesn't really realize she has it because Lillith has spent all this time breaking her spirit over and over. Can she find out who the new liege is before the last bunker is destroyed?
Jace, mmmm... what can I say about Jace?? It was absolutely lovely to see him finally respond in a way other than bored. He has always been super sexy, but I was worried I would be bored by his stoicism in the end. Fear not!! Lexi Foss found his heart and helped it grow three times its size, and heaven help me is he HOT as the jealous/possessive guy on a tear because someone dared touch who he thought was his. And I do mean HOT!! Lexi Foss's sex scenes might require you to come equipped with a new pair of panties, they're so damn spicy!
I was not at all prepared for the maze through the light fantastic we were required to trip through to find the new liege, but if you're like me, you'll figure out pretty quickly someone is always betraying someone else, and it does not matter how dead Lillith is, or how whip smart Calina is, Lillith still has one hand on the controls - even if she IS in a refrigerator somewhere.
I love, LOVE this kind of suspense, and Kingly Bitten is one of my favorite books for September!! 5/5 ⭐'s 5/5 🌶's scale, Lexi C. Foss has managed to write my favorite kind of vampires and werewolves every time over the last two years, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
Oh man, this book sets up events for the final book perfectly!
I love this author, and I LOVE this series. This story centers around the budding relationship between Jace (ancient vampire) and Calina (immortal . . . but not a vampire). Calina is the PERFECT mate for Jace. He's been around for 5000 years, so yeah, he's a bit jaded but still retains some of his humanity. While he hates what the world is now, he's pretty pragmatic about it. I admit that I do find his flippant nonchalance about the treatment of humans a bit off putting - but I also realize that there's not too much he can do about it in the current environment. He DOES help alleviate human's suffering when and where he can . . . but he has to do it in a way that doesn't attract attention since he's balls deep into the rebellion.
Jace: I safeguarded my harem to an extent, but I recognized them for the pawns they were in this game. If a royal fancied one, I typically handed the mortal over to gain a favor. Some survived. Some did not. It wasn’t exactly thrilling so much as practical. I’d survived this long because of my willingness and aptitude for playing the political arena. It took strategy and sacrifice.
See what I mean?
Calina is a product of biological engineering. It's very sad that after living over 100 years, she's NEVER seen outside. Her innocent and awestruck reaction to normal things around her - like the sun or a beach - is something that Jace finds intriguing and causes him to view the world through a different lens. She's also very logical as well, so she's a good match for Jace's political machinations.
There's an excellent plot twist near the end of the book, and it sets everything up for the last book of the series. I can't wait to get my hands on it. I'm just bummed that I'm going to have to wait about another month for it. I definitely recommend this series. Ms. Foss is an excellent story teller, and does a great job of world and character building.
The reading and Audio Rebel that , I am. I started at this audio book, in the series, then I listened to the rest of the series backwards.
I thought if this Author is good as everyone indicated. Well, writer Lexi C. Foss is a goddess. So I jumped in, the rest is a very sated reader history!
Jace & Calina Audio Vibe Kale Williams & Sarah Puckett created and honoured the chemistry between Jace & Calina. As its very instant and so intense that Jace & Calina are both extremely wary of it. It is a dangerous undercurrent - creating electric sexual tension between the very experienced Vampire and inexperienced Woman.
The characterisation was different to other books and even most stories and refreshingly so. The attraction of the body and mind Jace finds Calina’s intelligence and thought process fascinating but it will take some drastic circumstances to force him to admit to himself the truth of just what Calina may mean to him.
The Sexual activities is off the charts and fantastically spelled out by the narrators.
Note: Powerplay Dont make the mistake of thinking this series is totally old fashioned caveman Dom-Sub rubbish.
Firstly Dystopian world hell, and are the these Vampire men who want to change this world and the woman that want to love them. When these men Fall, trust me its the best spiral out of control.
All the books lead to gaining their own sexual power for FMC (topping from the bottom). The MMC who has the sexual control (Although Book 3 Regally Bitten has a slight variation as MMF&MFM.)
Of course in the beginning their is no sexual equity, but as the story expands things shift - even with the pressure of current cultural practices ruling harshly over humans. The book is sexually approachable so dont be daunted by it.
I have loved this series from the beginning. I swooned at Kylan and Rae's story, because uh he's perfectly wicked. Darius and Juliet were adorable, and then there was Edon, Silas, and Luna which was over the top hot. I just loved this world. Ryder and Willow not only topped all of them, but then we really got into the rebellion and what that means for our band of misfit vamps and lycans and well, that was amazing.
Okay, okay, okay....then this book! Jace and Calina's story had mystery, a GIANT twist that I wish I could have said I saw coming, but I did not...in any way, and so much romance. I loved that this story was filled with many of the previous characters, especially the snarky Kylan and Ryder quotes (they made me snort-laugh out loud at their unexpected genius, no shame). And the mental games Jace and Calina played were so fun, feisty, and intriguing. He has always been an interesting character that I did not think I would like as much as Ryder, but for the love of all that is chocolaty, Jace was perfect. I loved Calina's ability to keep up and the tie into the lycans since Jace has mentioned his fascination with them from the beginning. As much as I wish I could be the perfect match for him, Calina fits the part despite how much she had to endure to get to her happily ever after. And lastly....the chemistry. The Chemistry! That is all.
The rebellion is coming together, the end is in sight, and I can't wait to see who comes out on top. Plus, the sneak peek of the next book made me want it RIGHT NOW. I demand it as a reader. Sooooooo good.
Twists, turns, secrets, betrayals, action, tension and steamy hot soulmate passion as two analytical strategic minds come together unexpectedly and explosively!
I absolutely love this dark, dystopian world where vampires and lycans are superior and humans are just property. It's cruel and brutal for humans and immortals, but with beauty hidden amongst the darkness and rebellion in the air.... oh my this fabulous continuation of the series kept me on the edge of my seat!
I'd been really looking forward to this book, Jace has intrigued me from the very beginning with his intelligence, strategy and negotiation skills (as well as his obvious hotness 😉). Lexi didn't disappoint! I wondered how he would meet his match and how she could possibly be his equal but Calina dispelled any doubt I may have had. She was utterly perfect, even if it took them both a while to realise it. I loved how we got to see what made them both tick as their connection grew stronger and hotter.
Continuing on from the previous book, we learned the full extent of Lilith's....well insanity is a good a word as any, as the aftermath of her death kicked off a chain of devastating events, but thanks to her own tenacity and strength of will, they put Calina in Jace's sights. If only he could work out who and what she was and why she was so intriguing and alluring. She'd been through hell, but it was now a race against time to stay alive and find the rebellions missing leader.
The extent of this authors world building and imagination is mindblowing. Although I guessed certain aspects, I was not prepared for the journey she took me on and especially that epic, jaw dropping ending! Cruelly Bitten can not come quick enough, this is a must read if you love pnr and its darker side
