Sleep with a rock star, they said. It'll be fun, they said.

Lita Ciccone just wanted to meet her favorite band. She had no interest in tangling with sexy guitarist, Sebastian Fox, whose favorite past time is groupies.

Then she meets him. He's smart, he's funny, and he calls her princess. Suddenly, she understands why so many women fall at his feet, because that's exactly what she wants to do.

They spend one amazing night together, and their contraception fails. Now, Lita is facing a life tied to the world's biggest player.

Sebastian is sexy as sin, but can she really raise a baby with him?

The Baby is the third installment in the Cruise Control series by Sian Ceinwen. If you like sexy and funny books, that make you feel deeply for the characters, then you will adore falling in love with Sebastian and Lita.

I'm an indie author that writes steamy romance novels about rock stars.

I live in Western Australia with my husband and two sons. Physically. Mentally, I live in a world of rock stars and romance where everyone is crazy hot and rich as heck.

My dad used to tell me that I lived in a fantasy world...now I get to share that world with other people. I hope that you enjoy entering the worlds I create and love my characters even half as much as I do.

Sebastian's pretty terrible

His behavior is unexcusable. His age -- 29, then 30 -- makes it worse; it can't be pinned on being young and dumb. Lita may have told him it was fine for him to sleep with other women, but he didn't have to do it. He certainly didn't have to do it to the extent that he did, especially while claiming to love Lita and consider her better than the others. Realistically, his behavior (a long series of one nightstands) and their coparents with benefits arrangement put Lita at extremely high risk for STDs. Depending on what she contracted, it could've been passed along to the baby. At the very least, being treated would've made her pregnancy more difficult.

No. Just no.

I also read some of the author’s ‘excuses’ for the double standard bullshit and unprotected sex...and I’m not buying it.

This author is definitely not for me.

ETA: to the person who wanted to know why I rated a book without reading it (and then deleted the comment), I did read it. Hence the rating 🤷🏻‍♀️

Okay, well, I figured since I started doing this with The Album, then I was the first to review The Wedding, I might as well do the same with The Baby. I think that my reviews can maybe provide some kind of special insight into the book for anyone who cares to read them lol. I'll try and think of something to include that hasn't already been said in my newsletter or blog.

This one took me thirteen weeks to the day to write. It ended at 165,000 or something words. I struggled HARD with this one from the time that Sebastian told Lita he was in love with her. I always knew HOW he would do it. The inspiration came from Taylor Swift's song "You Are In Love".

One night he wakes, strange look on his face
Pauses, then says, you're my best friend
And you knew what it was, he is in love

So, I had this idea in my head that they would be joking about baby names and she'd be laughing and he'd stop and look at her funny and then he'd say it. I ALSO knew exactly how she'd respond to him. They have what I like to call "the best worst 'I love you' in literary history" (I'm not partial to exaggeration AT ALL).

What I didn't expect was for Sebastian to realise this about six weeks too early in the story's timeline. I could clearly see that he was in love with Lita from the way he was treating her because actions speak louder than words with Sebastian and when the time came, he was talking and I was like, "Oh crap, he's going to realise he's in love with her because he's NOT stupid."

And yup, that moment happened. From there, the book could've gone one of two ways. The way I originally wrote it was...one way. The way where they end up totally happy and never have any real issues because no matter what, they've got each other and they're fine. I think that was when I REALLY started struggling to finish writing it. Don't get me wrong, it was a super enjoyable read, but it just meandered its way to a conclusion and unsurprisingly the alpha readers were like, "I liked it...but nothing happened."

So...I broke my book. After a solid week spent sulking, first, of course. Here's the thing, writing The Wedding TRAUMATISED me. Seriously. There are songs that I can't listen to, now, because they remind me of Harrison and Heather. So, jumping straight into writing The Baby, I just don't think that I had the heart to torture Sebastian and Lita.

The end result from the rewrite was a MUCH better book. It...surprised me in some ways. When I knew how I would break it and what that would do to Sebastian, I one hundred percent expected Heather to be ride or die with him. I absolutely did not expect her to take Lita's side at all (especially since the infamous, "I don't want to slap a pregnant woman" line was in the original version, too).

But, I can also see how she reacted the way she did. It's interesting to see their friendship change the way it does. They'll always be friends, but I joked that, "Heather stepped down gracefully from her pedestal in the original book, in the rewrite Sebastian pushed her off it".

I like to think that I've done the bad boy trope justice. Sebastian isn't a bad boy just for the sake of being a bad boy, he became that way over time. We find out why he became that way, and hopefully understand the change in his character to become the kind of man who would tell a woman that he's in love with her.

Repeatedly, he is faced with the consequences of his behaviour and reputation. Starting with Lita's initial opinion of him being so bad because I always knew that Sebastian's heroine had to be too smart for his shit. She's a fan, she's read the stories, she's smart...Hayden is her favourite member of Cruise Control.

Now. This book. Where to start. Objectively, Ms Ceinwen has grown as an author. She has me in her clammy little hands. :D Joking aside, I am very much hooked on these characters. Holy moly, it had me by the balls. And so much about Sebastian’s personality is explained. If you haven’t read the first two books, do it before you read this one.

I love Lita, even if I wanted to kick her in the arse so many times. I’m with Heather on not hitting pregnant women. You’ll know why if you read this one. If it’s one thing Lita is not, is a sniveling, navel gazing airhead. Reading this book the first time, it tore me apart before it put me back together again. I was so on the edge of my seat, I couldn’t sleep. I had to finish it. The box of tissues came in very handy, and I even hated the characters a little at times. Trust me, it’s a good thing. They weren’t picture perfect. Picture perfect is boring.

Do I wish Lita was less stubborn? Heck yea. Do I wish Sebastian was less of a manwhore? Um… A little? He’s not a squeaky clean character, nor is he as bad as he was in book one. He’s just…a rock star.

I do miss some things from this book. As rock stars, I wish they’d rock out on stage more. But I played Godsmack while reading this book, and it wasn’t too much of a loss. But the boys were between tours, and there were things here to satisfy my need for music stuff in a rock star book.

If you’re looking for books where the rock stars are on stage rocking out all the time, and generally being degenerate, these aren’t books for you. But if you want a look at life off the stage, have your heart ripped out and cry a bucket of tears; these books are for you.

I’ve read my share of rock star books, it’s a world I love. And I can’t get these characters out of my head. Thank fuck this series is far from over. Now that would have broken my heart for real.

Lita is a huge Cruise Control fan. Her number one favourite is the quiet drummer Hayden. So when she wins a competition to meet the band she is thrown by the bands sexy playboy guitarist, Sebastian. She didn't think she would have anything to do with him... but sometimes when you meet someone the chemistry is off the charts, which is what happened when Lita meets Sebastian.

When one thing leads to another and they end up in bed together, it seems like the ultimate fan experience... but then the contraception fails. The book is called The Baby for a reason, so nothing I've written up till now is too much of a give away.

What I loved about this is that Sebastian (who has always been my favourite - so far at least), grows up. You get to see him at his best and his worst. It feels like a punch to the guts sometimes with the Best Love Story Never told (you'll understand that when you read the book). But I love what Lita brings to the table. She is smart, funny, creative and gets Seb on a level that his friends do not. I also love that she calls him on his shit. And, he can be a shit when he wants to be... the quintessential bad boy is how he starts but he is so much more! I love how it all comes together too.

I love that Lita and Seb start their relationship in a real life way - open relationship that begins to have blurred boundaries. It reminds me that sometimes beautiful things can come out of the most unusual circumstances. Also, the way that Lita reacts when Seb tells her he loves her for the first time... the best/worst reaction ever!

These two have their issues as they try to bring a child into the world together. Add to that fame, fortune, romance, heartbreak, stubborn pride, music and mistrust and you are in for one hell of a wild ride!

Be warned... even though there is a HEA there are some themes that may be problematic for some readers including pregnancy, illness, childhood disease, threat of death.

I really hope you enjoy this story as much as I do!

I really enjoyed this 3rd book in the Cruise Control series.

Sebastian has been my favourite from the very beginning. It is so nice to see how his character and story develops. You finally get to discover why he is the way he is.

Lita is a smart, funny, and I'm guessing Neuro-divergent woman with an obsession with Cruise Control. She reminds me of family members with are Neuro-divergent and that made me happy. She says things as straight and bluntly as she can and sometimes she makes me laugh with her clear and thoughtful rationale. Her obsession with Cruise Control is how it all begins with her winning a competition to meet the band.

Whilst this is Lita and Sebastian's story it is funny because Sebastian isn't her favourite. Oh no... but by the end of the book he is. This has a beautiful Happily Ever After.

Be warned there are some really heart-breaking points in this book particularly in regards to baby health and wellbeing.

I do find all of Sian Ceinwens novels have a way of breaking your heart and then slowly piecing it back together! This is her best story yet. I really cant wait to read Haydens story!

I’m sure I’d written a review of this book before now because I was lucky to be an ARC for review. So let me say I gave this book five stars which is something I don’t do unless I totally love the book. Lita is a sweet beautiful girl and she won a date with her favorite rock band. She and her best friend were treated to a VIP trip to Chicago and an evening with the band. Lita wanted to meet her favorite band member Hayden, but when she met Sebastian Fox face to face the chemistry was off the chart. He’s gorgeous, funny, sexy and spoke to her in Italian, game on. One night with a rockstar what can go wrong? This story is just too sexy, funny, sad and just perfectly romantic. Sebastian had issues and never seemed what he really was and Lita was strong and was taking no crap from him. Loved this story more then the Album and as much as the Wedding. I recommend this book highly.

The Baby will carry you on an unforgettable journey of heart wrenching crisis, have the tissues ready to cry, feel anxious, sad heartbreaks and frustrating characters, but with whom we can identify and forgive. Be prepared for Lita and Sebastian's accidental baby and how this illusive rock star falls for his baby's mama as Cruise Control's members band together to support each other through their own personal trials and triumphs. In the Cruise Control series, Sian's propensity for detail, narrative structure and cohesiveness flows through the entire series. In each of her books, Sian gives us the story of not only the main characters, but also about the other band members as their lives intertwine which keep us engrossed until the end!

I was very happy to receive an ARC for which I am leaving a voluntary review.

Unfortunately, this review is going to sound like I’ve just copied and pasted my reviews of The Album and The Wedding (no’s 1 and 2 in the Cruise Control series). I’m sorry, but I just seem to have found a writer that I am totally addicted to. Each book has been predominantly about a particular member of the band, and follows on time wise (although all can be read independently). The book makes me both laugh and cry, and for someone who has not classed themselves as a romance reader since their youth, is just totally addicted. I hated having to put it down, and although I was desperate to see how it ended, I also didnt want it to end! All I can say is, roll on book no. 4 - The Stalker. Can’t possibly guess what that is going to be about. 🤣🤣

I received this as an ARC for my honest opinion.

OH EMM GEE!! The barbs, the angst, the ups and downs, the scares and the tense moments. I was literally laughing and crying through this entire story. Lita and Sebastian have the perfect chemistry going that everyone can set and feel when they are around each other, even if they deny certain aspects. The baby scare was nerve wracking throughout but such a relative when it was finally over. So many times thought I wanted to slap dirty one over the head for the stupid mistakes and miscommunication/no communication over the damn ground rules. But just so happy that they finally got their heads on right and got their HEA and a beautiful baby in the end.

So totally awesome.

This book just made me love this series even more. I absolutely love Sebastian , he is hilarious, gorgeous, sensitive, vulnerable, and hot as hell. Lita was stubborn with Seb but rightfully so. He was a total man whore, stronzo. Their journey was real and in typical rock star fashion parts were over the top but so much fun. I loved this book and can’t wait for Hayden’s book.

This book was torture.both H and h were terrible, the heroine had no backbone but was horny all the time .the H was a big idiot who tells h he loves her but instead of trying to show her how much he makes her think he sleeps with other women...meh

I hated them both !!

Why should I want to read about two idiots!!

Incredible. Once again, Siân tortures us exquisitely. This time she ratchets up the spice levels which is great! She makes us care deeply about all of the characters in her series.

My only complaint is that the conflict resolution tipping point was way too late in the book. The “breakup” period of the story was SO incredibly long and frustrating and then the happy times at the end following reconciliation felt rushed and abbreviated.

Loved This Book!

Loved going on this journey with Sebastian and Lots! However, They wasted months with not communicating their true feelings. The whole health issue with their baby broke my heart and I'm so thrilled that everything worked out and they got their HEA. Fantastic Book!

Beautiful love story

Awww love Sebastian and Lita’s story. They had a long hard battle to get to their HEA but the end was so very worth it! Took Lita long enough to get past her fears. And precious Mirabella! A must read book!

Very good book. Didn’t feel rushed. It did at times feel like it was dragging however i would still recommend this book.

Some editing errors but a great story!

I loved Sebastian from the first book in this series and really enjoyed his story! He was a fun character, charming, and hilarious. It was fun to watch him grow throughout this series. There were times I wanted to just shake Lita and say just ask him already!! There were a frog issues in editing, one time they were having sex and Hayden and the guys come over and he never even pulls his pants up, or at least the author never says that he did... Wow! Also the fetal cardiologists wouldn't deliver her baby, and ob-gyn would, it justice st wouldn't happen like that. They all have their specialties. But other than Issues like this I enjoyed the story.

The Back-and-Forth That Wouldn’t End

Book three… and honestly? Exhausting.

I was hoping this would finally give us real depth into Sebastian, but instead he’s just made even grosser. A rockstar who cannot go without sleeping with endless women, claims they mean nothing, yet somehow we’re supposed to believe he’s capable of real emotional connection. It didn’t work for me.

Lita started out promising, but quickly became unbearable. She’s cruel, immature, and exhausting; constantly saying awful things, then crying when Sebastian reacts. Their entire dynamic is built on insta-lust, endless sex talk, and zero emotional growth. Serious conversations (like, oh, pregnancy) are constantly derailed by sex, and it gets old fast.

The biggest issue? The repetitive back-and-forth. She’s hurt, he keeps sleeping with other women, he claims he loves her, she says she doesn’t love him, rinse and repeat for 500+ pages. Add in unnecessary filler details and extra drama that didn’t need to exist, and this book felt painfully bloated.

And the entire situation with him sleeping with all these woman and then coming back to sleep with her, WHILE SHE IS PREGNANT by the way, is just craziness! She’s putting herself and her unborn child at risk. Condoms are not 100% as we all know, and she was willing to take THAT risk because she wanted to get some. SMH.

Lita’s friend Becky is the REAL OG!!! She called Sebastian out on his shit and of course Lita defends him 🙄

“Maybe because I didn’t realize how many women. It’s gross. I know when he’s been here with you, some of those times, he literally slept with another woman right before coming to see you. He was with someone else on Friday night. He must have gotten off the phone with you, then gone straight to fuck another woman. How are you okay with this? Do you have no self-respect, Lolita?” Becky shook her head.“

Overall, this felt like a filler book that desperately needed stronger character development, and far less obsession with sex. Why not include the lyrics to the special songs? That would’ve been better than the unnecessary descriptions. I made it to the end, but it was a struggle.

It is every music fan's dream to meet their idol or idols and Lita was lucky enough to win a competition to meet the boys of Cruise Control. Upon meeting them she was totally blown away by the charisma of Sebastian Fox but was able to give as good as she got as he flirted and teased her all night. Unable to stop herself from falling into his trap she agrees to spend the night with him, which turns out to be one of the best of her life, but unfortunately she leaves with more than she arrived with!

I was totally surprised by Sebastian's reaction to Lita's pregnancy, who would have known that this sexier than sin guitarist was happy to be a baby daddy and was ready to stand by Lita all the way.

Whew Sian gives us scorching hot love scenes between Lita and Sebastian and I could feel their passion for each other. It was painful watching Lita battling with her feelings and ability to trust Sebastian while going through the stages of her pregnancy (I loved the commentary about the size of the baby as it grows).

You are going to be enthralled by Lita and Sebastian's story even though you might want to hit them across the head now and again due to their stupidity! However you will enjoy spending time with the other members of the band especially when they are playing pool!

This third book in the Cruise Control series is an absolute hit and if you haven't read the previous two do yourself a favour and read them.

Another fun book with the Cruise Control gang. I really liked Lita, but she also frustrated me. For someone who is so honest and speaks her mind, she certainly never even thought to ask Sebastian the question of why he was sleeping with other woman, or thought to tell him to stop as it hurt he when he did.

So many fun moments in this one, I loved how every chapter had an update on pregnancy thoughts/feelings and what stage Lita was at. Made me chuckle remembering all those feelings and thankful I didn't have to deal with others.

I didn't want to put this one down. Not sure why it pulled me in more so than the first two, maybe because I wanted Sebastian to be able to show his true self and not the image he has presented to the world.

Looking forward to reading his point of view book as well!

Sebastian might be my new favorite member of Cruise Control

Whew, what a ride this book was.
I laughed quite a bit throughout cause Seb’s humor is unparalleled.
I also however spent quite a lot of time frustrated with the characters.
Then the remaining time was spent emotionally wondering if the HEA would be worth it (spoilers - it was 😉)

I think in ways I found this to be harder to read than The Wedding but only because I really identified personally to at least part of the story and considering they are literal rockstars I feel like that only can mean Sian Ceinwen wrote amazing, in depth, down to earth characters.
Can’t wait to read book 4

I love Rockstar romances and Sian Ceinwen 3rd book in the Cruise Control series The Baby was riveting! To see Sebastian Fox tamed by Superfan Lita was amazing. This book is well written and kept me engaged from start to finish! The Cruise Control rockstars are all so believable and have been so fun to get to know! I recommend this series to any one who loves rockstar romances! Can’t wait for Hayden’s book The Stalker!
