The titan of Death, a goddess of the magic and mystery...an impossible crush that might finally have a chance.

THANATOS is the fifth book in a new paranormal romance series, based in a dark, sexy city ruled by Hades and his court of gods and monsters.

If you love fearsome, magical women on revenge quests, and terrifying monsters with a soft side, then you will enjoy the newest instalment of 'The Court of the Underworld.'

When Thanatos starts having nightmares about Hecate, he knows it's time to find out what fate has befallen his dearest friend and oldest crush. Selene is having the same dreams, and with her magic starting to bloom she's going to need her great-aunt Hecate to teach her how to use it...no matter how much it pisses off Hermes.

Trapped under a sleeping curse for decades thanks to Pandora and her human pet, Lander, Hecate doesn't know what to make of the world she's woken up to. Thanatos is free of his curse and is causing her hot flushes whenever he gets too close, and horror of horrors, her descendant is dating the most annoying Olympian of them all.

All Hecate knows for sure is that she needs to retrieve her stolen keys of the cross roads if her power is going to be complete again...then she can figure what to do with all of the repressed feelings she has for the Titan of Death.

The Court may have dealt with Pandora, but they are to discover her treachery created worse things than Pithos, and the war to bring them down is far from over.

THANATOS is a new story based on characters from Greek Myth. It contains adult content, including violence, swearing, and steamy sex scenes.

Thanatos, along with his brothers and Hades, were cursed by Zeus to remain in the underworld, destined to never know real life outside of their shades. Before Hades pulled them to Earth, gifting them physical bodies, they made the best of their circumstances. The highlights of Thanatos's existence... every visit from the goddess, Hecate.

I loved that these two loved each other even when it seemed they would never be physically intimate. Unable to touch each other, they still connected, which I found beautiful, and the author did a great job of making me feel it.

Hecate's breath caught as his ancient black eyes stared at her. She had seen them in despair and rage and tenderness, but she'd never seen them like this. It was a look of raw, bestial want. Centuries upon centuries of yearning that he had hidden from her. It was terrying, it was thrilling... it was a reflection.

Yes, yes and YES!!

So there was a bit of a battle with these characters when admitting to their feelings, but it was fleeting and the author made up for it when they finally did come together. They were pretty much together from the start, even if neither one of them were willing to own it right away. It was obvious to everyone and I loved that they were one without outright saying it or detailing it to death.

There was also more battle action in this one. I definitely enjoyed the fight scenes and wouldn't mind some more of that. Knives, scythes, torches, magic... loving it! The romance and love between these characters just keeps getting better. It's like the author really hit her stride the further she got in the series. And I'm here for all of it!

Charon, ferryman of the dead, is up next and I've already got his book loaded up! I'm really enjoying the continuing plot and rooting for these characters to bring down their enemies.

I was looking forward to this book, but it honestly felt pretty "meh" throughout. I feel like not a whole lot really happened in it, we didn't get any real chance to see who the main characters were and there was virtually no character development, which was disappointing. However, I still enjoyed reading the book and being this close to the end of the series, I'm going to finish it. Unfortunately, for me at least, this was the weakest book of the series.

*sigh* I am going to finish this paranormal romance series following Greek gods even though they have all been...shallow and forgettable with meh everything. Why? Because they are so easy to get through!

In this book, we follow the titan of death and the titanite of magic as they finally give in to their centuries-old crush. As we get more into the series, the side characters start showing up more and we focus a bit more on the antagonist of the series. By this point, all the books blend together even though each couple met differently. It is bound to happen when you have a series where you have an overarching plot.

Overall, my critics remain the same. Nothing great but nothing unbearable.

Not my favorite of the series, prbly because we spent more time advancing the plot than building the characters and relationship. Particularly, I didn't feel as connected to Hecate since she's only just joined the court, but even Thanatos wasn't as developed as I was hoping for after catching glimpses of him in the previous books. It could be that this book was about 50 pages shorter than the others, but also that friends to lovers makes for a lazy trope when most of their emotional development is off page in their past friendship.

Alessa Thorn does it again!

Book 5 in this series has been goooood, the tension that Alessa Thorn creates between the characters is great, and also so is the spice!
I’m enjoying everything in these books at the moment and can’t wait to start reading the next one

I reallllly love Thanatos and Hecate together. Their energy felt right from the very beginning!

The only thing that really gave me the ick was everyone acting like Selene couldn’t back herself up. She worked just as hard as everyone else.

Let’s see where our story continues hehhehe.

The humor, the love, the hate and the dark Gods all here. Each characters personality grows and pops out at you. I don't know how many ways to say this book, the whole series to date is awesome. I don't want to give away the story, but you'll never see the greek mythology underworld the same way again.

God of Death

Hecate and Thanatos have a pretty great storyline that I didn’t fully expect. This series has been a quick and enjoyable reading experience. I’m glad that there will be more stories!

I want to specify that I really would give this more of a 3.5-3.75 rating.

I can’t give it a four in my mind for some reason. I’ve revisited this and I think my favorite aspect of this novel is Thanatos. I wanted him to end up happy at the end of this. I want all the triplets to end up happy. But Thanatos just feels like her serves everyone around him.

He feels like this steady reliable character. Someone everyone can lean on. I always view him as a second to Hades. I’m not sure that’s canon. But his personality and job gave that vibe. He is intellectual to me, less buff and brawny.

The trope in this one revolves around friends becoming lovers. Thanatos crush on Hecate and the history between them is one of my favorites. I love this timid love and the, “but do they like me?”

Where I felt a little disconnect is with Hecate. I think that’s my problem with the last three books. I didn’t love the female love interests as much as I wanted to. She is a badass and I love her school girl crush too. But I didn’t feel connected to her. But I do think Thanatos and her were a good match. I wanted more personality with her though.

The humor that’s laced in the other books isn’t as present in this one. Thanatos and Hecate are more serious and passionate. It was nice to see. Thanatos is basically the perfect boyfriend. Hecate gives off mad witchy vibes like a moon witch.

Their passionate scene in the woods at night? Flawless. 💋

The Best Unique Greek God Romance series

Alessa Thorn's truly original series of Greek God Romance is still going strong with this 5th book, Thanatos. The characters from the previous books are all bound together as they attempt to get to the bottom of Pithos, an organization determined to wipe gods & monsters from the Earth. Each book is one contained story with no cliffhangers (which I love!) although the search for Pithos is the overarching plot line tying the series together. All of the characters are a lot of fun, especially their interactions with each other. I have really enjoyed watching the Court become a family over the course of these stories, & I can't wait to see what comes next. My only complaint is that I have been finding an increasing number of errors, mostly incorrect comma usage. The first couple of books were almost mistake free, but each subsequent book has contained more & more errors. Those errors are enough to make a grammar nerd crazy, but still minor enough that they don't really detract from the story. I highly recommend this series & I will likely be checking out the other series' by this author in the future.

Another great installment!

This is the 5th book in this series. The series does need to be read in order to fully enjoy the storyline.

With another battle with PITHOS fought, Thanatos and Selene both start dreaming of Hecate calling to them for help. So, the group sets out to find her.

Thanatos and Hecate have a past. Both friends since the days of Thanatos’ confinement to the Underworld. He is happy to find her, and vows to keep his friend safe. But, does he feel for her as more than a friend?

Hecate has been through a lot at the hands of PITHOS, and at finding out that her niece’s Circe and Medea are still at the hands of these monsters, she makes it her mission to join Hades’ crew at hunting them down.

Full of action, friends to lovers romance and more mysteries popping up, this was a definite page turner. The main storyline keeps getting deeper, while the romance storyline keeps it steamy.

I’d recommend to any paranormal/mythological romance reader.

So, yeah I binge-read this series.

As I said, it was very entertaining.

I will post this review on each of them because I don't care and I am not reviewing every single one of them.

However, this combination of dystopian elements with Modern Day Greece and Ancient Greek Gods reemerging, was chefs' kiss! I need to find this, but better than this.

Although I enjoyed it there are many issues with these books, so I am rating all of them 2 stars.

However, do not doubt that Alessa Thorn will be an author I will be adding to my list because whenever I need a fast read with smut, fantastical elements I'll be checking her out.

All Alessa Thorn books are winners

All her series from The God Universe, Court of the Underworld to Gods of the Duat from The Fae Universe to The Ironwoods every book by this writer is guaranteed to be well-written, have great world-building, and well-thought-out dialog.
This writer also can keep her protagonist together. Meaning unlike some writers a character can show up five books later and you recognize them immediately. Nothing has changed. They act the same, speak the same, and react the same. This is rarer than believed.

I am so glad I came back to this series. This book reminded me about everything I absolutely adore in Alessa's books. Thanatos and his brothers are lesser known/talked about immortals and I am so excited to keep reading about the other two! Thanatos and Hecate had this former friendship before the curse was lifted for the titian in the Underworld that just grew beautifully in this book. Hecate is just f*en cool and a total badass goddess. Great book by Alessa, and this series is great as well. I am excited to keep reading and see how it ends!

I have been waiting from the first book to see the triplets get their own happy endings and was thrilled to see Thanatos be able to pursue his love of Hecate for the first time because he finally had the opportunity to (thanks to finally having a body.) Hecate is dark, mysterious, and starts off as distant and wary to the Court's acceptance of her into their family but throughout the story she learns to trust and accepts the help they offer. I also love that she loves dogs and that she kept her promise to Jackal.

Still a good series. And still intriguing. Even though each book has a similar story of gods/demi-gods/humans falling in love, and fighting Pithos, it’s still enjoyable and interesting.

Thanatos and Hecate gave me immature middle school vibes sometimes though. And there’s a lot of typos.

And why wouldn’t Hecate have a ton of stuff from before her capture and entrapment by Pithos? I feel like it would’ve made more sense for her to have a stash of stuff if she had been earthside for so long. But I’m rolling with it.

So who falls for Medea? Or will it be Circe? Charon or Erebus next?

Thanaotos is my favorite character in this series. But I was a little disappointed in his book. I should say it is not bad. I would love to give it 3.5 stars. Cause just for some reason and this could completely be me. I found his story with Hecate a little slow and did not seem to flow as well with the rest of the overall story for the series without spoilers. I enjoyed it but I might skip this one next time I do a reread of the series.

The only down side to reading these books is that they and it’s author are unique, there are no books like this, lots similar-ish but none with h‘s this strong and in your face, I’m ploughing through them way too fast and I dread the day I‘m all caught up. Thanatos is amazing, I love that he’s been in love with Hecate for ever and still manages to stumble and fumble, it’s so endearing. Hecate is power and sass rolled into a very feisty package. Love them together.

This series gets better and better

Wow roller-coaster ride, book 5 is amazing, Anouther member of the court find there partner, The bad guys are slipery and evil and while the bad guys get whats coming to them the story line grows and twists picking things up and throwing them out like a twister. Damn I'm invested in the court and need to find out how it ends🤩😍

I enjoyed this, but found that it was one of the more forgettable of the series - I don't know if it's because 5 books in the personalities are starting to blur. The best scenes are the ones you learnt more about the characters that are already established - I definitely had no strong feelings about Hecate either way.

Hecate and Thanatos. A couple that probably shouldn’t work, and yet does. Had a heap of fun with this one, with the characters not being as emo as I thought they might be. Hecate’s interactions with Hermes were also another highlight. Pretty sure Hermes doesn’t actually hate Hecate, and just enjoys getting a rise out of her. In e again I highly recommended series and author.

I'm not a fan of blonde main characters but hi Thanatos and yes please Thanatos with your smouldering love you from afar until I grow some balls to knock you off your feet properly! Sign me up.

Fantastic read. Enjoyable. Perfect combination of Thanatos and strong Hecate so I loved how Alessa weaved these two together. Beautiful.

Loved Thanatos through the whole series so great to finally get to his book. For the god of death he is a big ol’ softie!!
Hecate is back and I love her fierceness but I found it odd for a goddess who has been asleep for 20yrs she’s sure up to date with the times.

I enjoyed this book it blends in with the rest.

I've complained before about how I'm tired of male characters being described as smelling of pine and how I wish authors would get more creative with scents, and Thanatos is described here as smelling of "ancient funeral incense," and I'm so pleased with that. (Don't tell me if pine incense is a thing. I'll be upset. Ha.)

This is another standalone in the Court of the Underworld series following Hecate and Thanatos. Hecate has been cursed into an eternal sleep and is lost until Thanatos starts dreaming of her location. The Court of Styx works to wake her and help her take revenge. It's a fun and quick read, with funny moments from all the past characters. I didn't really connect with Thanatos and Hecate though.

3.5/

Not as good as the other books. Felt a bit rushed with everything going on between Hecate, the rest of the Pithos, and the rest of the plot. It wasn't bad. Not nearly as much angst with Hecate and Thanatos which is extremely disappointing. This was the book I was looking forward to the most after Hades and Persephone.
