Fixer Upper

Sawyer

I’ve never been afraid to get my hands dirty.

As an omega who runs his own construction business, I’m used to alphas gawking at me, but I’m never going to sit at home and be some kept omega. Not even when the love of my life gives me an ultimatum: “It’s me or the job.”

Now I’m single, slightly bitter, and I’ve sworn off alphas for good. At least until I meet Devon, a successful (and admittedly gorgeous) real estate investor who thinks he can add me to his portfolio.

This rich guy’s in for a rude awakening.

-

Devon

I never believed the whole money can’t buy happiness thing, until I met Sawyer.

The headstrong omega is rough around the edges and more stubborn than anyone I’ve ever met, alpha or omega. He’s also going to be my mate--he just doesn’t know it yet.

I wasn’t planning on investing in a fixer upper, but if it keeps Sawyer around long enough to convince him he belongs in my bed and not just on my payroll, it’s more than worth it.

Oh, and did I mention he’s having my baby? With any other omega, that would be a guaranteed in, but not Sawyer. Repairing his broken heart and convincing him I’m the guy he wants to build his life with is going to be my biggest project yet.

This is a standalone ~27k-word Mpreg Romance novella. Sweet, fluffy, HEA guaranteed!

First things first: This was one of the most poorly edited stories I've read in a long while. There were dozens of mistakes (wrong words, missing words, sentence construction that made no sense), each of which made me cringe harder than the last.

OUCH. That kind of sloppy, lazy writing has no business being published.

On top of that, there was no world, relationship, or character development to speak of.

The story is sexy, I'll give it that, but when I'm not feeling the romance, the sex just feels gratuitous.

Cute short-fiction!
Non-shifter omegaverse
Mpreg
feel good/low angst

L.C. Davis is a new to me author that I'm looking forward to checking out.
I really liked the writing style.
Despite it being quite short it does encompass about a year, give or take and flows seamlessly.

Sawyer is an omega that's different than most. Fiercely independent, stubborn, physically strong and big. He's had his heart broken and has sworn off Alphas for the forceable future.
He didn't expect Devon. An Alpha who's hired him to do construction on a fixer upper.
Insta-lust and a one night stand leads to so much more.

The story itself is not particularly deep or original but it's sweet in its simplicity and well written.
Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a quick, effortless, sweet read in the non-shifter omegaverse.

3.5 stars rounded up, because this was just a sweet, feel good, quick read and just what I need the other night!

Sawyer is not your typical omega - he doesn't look like one and he doesn't act like one, and he refuses to give into an alpha who isn't OK with how he looks and how hard he works for his business. I loved that about him, and I enjoyed him as a character.

Devon was a perfect alpha for him - he loved Sawyer just as he was, and he was patient and understanding and just, oh I loved him too :D

Sweet, sexy story and just fun!

A nice, light read. Enjoyable, but quite a few typos. At one point, Sawyer is swinging a hedge hammer at a wall, instead of a sledgehammer.

Sawyer is an omega who does not want to stay at home, he owns his own construction company and does the work that needs to be done. Sawyer is not looking for a relationship with an alpha. Devon came to town to buy property and renovate it. Devon is an alpha and he is used to getting what he wants. Devon wants Sawyer, but Sawyer is not interested. Sawyer and Devon spend lots of time together renovating the house. When the project is done what will happen? Will Devon move on and move away? Will Sawyer finally admit that he has feelings for Devon before it is to late?

“It’s me or the job” was enough for Sawyer Miller to call it quits on his first and only serious relationship. Sawyer was never a typical Omega. He was tall and well-built, independent and proud of the success of the carpentry business he had built on his own from the ground up. But Trevor forgot all of that when he threw out that ultimatum. Sawyer would have given him the child he wanted because he loved him, but not at the expense of being told outright to sacrifice his dreams and accomplishments along with it. Trevor evidently didn’t get that the business was a big part of Sawyer’s identity. So he swore off alphas and kept his focus on his business and the crew he managed. Who needed a mate anyway?

His friend, Caleb, called to beg him to do an inspection of a property another friend was eager to sell. The only other available inspector’s wife went into labor, and they wanted this inspection done now … typical alpha. So even though Caleb didn’t do inspections anymore since he was so busy, he agreed for his friend. He was even more surprised when the alpha agreed to the sale without haggling over price! And then asked Sawyer to do the renovation work.

Devon Rice had to go out of town on another project, but when he returned he asked Sawyer to stay and discuss the renovations and he would order food for them to have dinner. Eventually, Devon offered himself if Sawyer was curious. The man held nothing back! Sawyer surprised even himself when he answered that it would be a one-time thing and pretend it never happened after that. He thought about it, and Sawyer expected him to refuse, but he agreed and they moved toward each other. Both of them obviously wanted this and, for the moment, that was perfectly acceptable. When Sawyer pushed the alpha against the wall for a kiss, after only a momentary shocked pause, Devon relaxed into it. Devon assured him they were just getting started, Sawyer knowing full well that it was not just bragging! But as they agreed, there wasn’t a repeat after this one night, although Devon couldn’t hide the way he looked at Sawyer.

Sawyer’s mom texted him to ask if he had checked Facebook. There was a picture of Trevor with his new fiancée wearing a gorgeous ring. It had only taken him a couple months to find his replacement. Sawyer threw the phone across the floor, then realized Devon was standing there quietly asking if he was okay. As Devon comforted him, Sawyer was even more aware that there was something more between them – and he didn’t mind! He would have been even more stunned to know that Devon was falling in love and wanted Sawyer in his life. Devon didn’t want to tell him the truth if it would drive him away. And Sawyer was feeling doubly guilty because he fell for an alpha after swearing off, and worse still, he was a client! Would one of them finally give in and tell the other how they really felt? Could either be willing to admit they wanted a real relationship now? Maybe it now was more than just physical – maybe they owned each other’s heart?

This was a very well-written story that grabs the reader right from the start and makes the characters come alive. Each one was so special in so many ways, and seeing them slowly falling in love – and being surprised by it – was beautiful. Devon consistently showed Sawyer that his feelings were taken into consideration. The strong alpha protective instinct was there, yet he didn’t push it, knowing that Sawyer would not react well to that. Sawyer was someone to be admired for his own strength, going beyond the expectations for an Omega. My favorite line in the story was when he indicated houses were more than just a place to lay your hat; they were the treasure chests where people stored their lives and all their most precious memories. Meeting these two is a wonderful experience. Don’t let yourself miss out on this one!

This is the first book I have read by LC Davis but it won't be the last. This is a very enjoyable read. It is light and easy for when you are looking for something quicker to read.

Sawyer is an omega who owns a construction business. He is strong and not a typical omega. However he just had his heart broken by an alpha who didn't appreciate him for all the differences that he had. His independence and strength. As if that wasn't bad enough, he finds out how quickly his previous alpha has replaced him and that omega is wearing is engagement ring. So when Devon and Sawyer first meet, Sawyer's opinion of alphas is at a low point.

Devon is an alpha who is a successful real estate investor. He meets Sawyer will getting a home inspection on a run down house that he is thinking about buying. The person who was suppose to do the inspection is unavailable so his real estate agent calls in a favour with his friend Sawyer. Sawyer does the inspection and tries to keep away from Devon who is following him like a puppy. Devon asks Sawyer if he and his company will do the necessary renovations. In spite of wanting to get away as soon as possible, Sawyer accepts the job as a lot of people depend upon him for work.

Both men are interested in each other but Sawyer is off alphas. Devon knows that he will have to tread carefully to catch and keep his mate. This story describes the slow development of their relationship. Of course, it wouldn't be an interesting story without a few unexpected surprises. Some bigger than others.

Enjoy this heart warming read.

a true love story
Sawyer is an Omega with a difference. He enjoys his independence He has his own company that is very successful and he had no plans to stay home have kids and wait on his husband. So when his Alpha asks him to chose between him and his work its a no brainer. Sawyer ended his 3 years old relationship with Trevor the man he loved. Sawyer was asked as a favour to do an inspection. There was a alpha investor from the city who wants to make a purchase on a property and he needed it done that day. Of course Sawyer helped and as he arrived at the property he was met with said Alpha Devon. Sawyer had said he was going to stay away from Alphas but Devon was something else.
Devon was in a hurry to get the inspection done so he could buy up the property and get the repairs done. But when he met Sawyer he knew he wanted him for his mate, But he knew he had to be careful as Sawyer was very independent and wouldn't take kindly to his Alpha ways. So he played his cards close to his chest and one night when Sawyer was finishing off some work Devon asked him to join him for dinner so they could talk about the house. But what would happen when they spent time together alone??
This is a great story, and i really enjoyed the storyline. Sawyer was a brilliant character and he had a wonderful out look on life but being alone wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Devon had so much patience for Sawyer you could just tell how much he loved Sawyer. It was a dreamy book to read!!!

I came across this novella on the Amazon Carousel underneath a book I had purchased. I've been hanging out in a variety of authors' Omegaverses and am enjoying myself immensely. I was fortunate to find this really entertaining story of a rather unconventional Omega. He owned a construction company and had the respect of his Alpha & Beta employers. if it weren't for his scent his designation wouldn't even be suspected. He was a big guy - a solidly muscled 200 pounds and taller than six feet. He let himself get close to one Alpha who ended up crushing his heart and leaving him. It turned him into even more of a workaholic with the added benefit of making an excellent reputation for his construction company.

A reputation that drew the attention of a particular Alpha. Handsome, successful, sometimes ruthless, though always determined businessman. A man who knew what he wanted and didn't stop until he got it. Well he'd finally met his match. It made for a good read seeing the back and forth between the main characters. The Omega is a big strong guy, though he has some insecurities that he does not want anyone to know about. Anyone who wants to take him on - even for a relationship is going to need patience, determination, and not feel intimidated by an Omega who does not need him. Who will be with an Alpha only on the Omega's own terms. I really enjoyed this story and I recommend it to other Omegaverse fans

This was an okay read.

Despite the reviews I read beforehand warning me not to expect much, I went into this with an open mind since the premise is so interesting.

First and foremost, I’m not typically a fan of omega stories regardless of sexuality. I like strong characters, and omegas are typically depicted as these needy and fragile creatures who are emotionally compromised and require protection to survive.

That shit is for the birds.

To each their own for their character preferences, but it does nothing positive for me.

In this story, I liked that Sawyer is an “atypical” omega who desires independence and looks contradictory to his designation. It’s sooooooooo hard to find an omega story where the omega doesn’t looking twinky, so I was sold for that alone.

I wish this would have been written more aligned to staying true to those character traits while also building a healthy relationship, but I understand there’s only so much you can do in a short story.

Devon was a great fit for him by being an Alpha with strong presence, but also aware and considerate enough to respect Sawyers boundaries and pace.

While the relationship between Sawyer and Devon didn’t sell me as great as it could have, it was still a cute story with no unnecessary drama. Although, not gonna lie, I kind of wanted a little flavor with flaunting his new happiness in front of the ex.

**First time reader** I really enjoyed reading this m/m romance. It had all the elements I liked in alpha/omega romances. Sawyer the strong independent omega was a little different than the omegas I was use to reading about. He had a little sass but his demeanor was so nonsense...I loved it. Devon was the typical cocky alpha but once he laid eyes on Sawyer his entire outlook on his personal life/hookups changed. He wanted this stubborn omega for more than a easy fling...he can see Sawyer as his mate. He made it is mission to make Sawyer his. Sawyer had a lot of baggage from his last breakup and I didn't think he would fall for Devon's alpha charm. They always say, opposites attract and these two lovely guys were as opposite as can be but you can't deny the intense attraction they had for one another. With the little twist towards the end, both come to realize that they can't ignore the love(especially Sawyer...Devon was already all in...LOL). I would have loved an epilogue but I enjoyed it regardless. This really was a great book and now I'm truly a fan.

Sawyer is a fierce, independent Omega who don't need no Alpha. But seriously he doesn't. He's been hurt by too many Alphas who have tried to control him or force him to choose them or his busy he started from the ground -up. Now after a recent break-up Sawyer throws himself into his work. It is going well until he meets the Alpha that hired him. Devon is wealthy and more or less a workaholic; but there's something about this independent Omega that has him questioning whether or not it's time to settle down. Sawyer is hesitant at first but after a one night stand between the two...and another...and another he thinks that maybe there could be something more between them just a physical attraction.

I thought this was a short and cute novella. It is a lot of fluff and romance and just makes you swoon watching these two men try to figure out this 'relationship' they have together. I would definitely recommend reading if you're looking for something light to read!

He was not your typical omega. Most you meet are smaller than their alphas.

Sawyer did not fit the mold. Standing more than six feet tall, and a wall of solid muscle, it was hard finding an alpha who wasn't intimidated. Everything was going well with Trevor, until it wasn't. Now forced to choose between the job or him, Sawyer left.
Sawyer knew he was better off, but the sting of that reality didn't hurt any less. So, he decided to swear off alphas. Lucky for him, that internal revelation wouldn't last long.

Devon wasn't looking to purchase a fixer upper, but why not if it keeps Sawyer within his grasp a little longer. So mesmerized by the strong willed omega, he will do anything to convince him they belong together. Oddly enough, he irritated the omega only because he like Devon. This only made Devon more determined than ever.

From casual hook-ups to love and a baby. Rooting for these two from beginning to end.

If you like to read a fascinating, heartwarming Mpreg romance then this is the novella for you. The plot is well-paced with some interesting situations & there is no violence at all. The characters are entertaining with opposing personalities but have good chemistry between them.
There is: a successful independent omega (Sawyer Miller) decided that he was really not interested in getting involved with any alphas after a ultimatum made by his ex-fiancé (Trevor) but then he comes into contact with a determined alpha (Devon Rice) who is prepared to do anything to get his man, drama, mild intrigue, memories, friendship, attempted manipulations, suspicions, commitment issues, strange attractions, memories, persistence, curiosity, obsession, determination, surprises, compromises, a caring family, contentment, love, some steam & a sweet happy conclusion. I enjoyed reading this beautiful well-written Mpreg romance & would recommend it to people who enjoy reading this genre.

This book was amazing and my first time reading L.C.'s work! I was totally impressed and I loved every minute of this wonderful story of Sawyer, the independent Omega and Devon, the Alpha who will fight for what he wants which just happens to be Sawyer. They meet when Sawyer is asked to fill in on a home inspection for a property Devon is buying. Being a contractor, Sawyer can do it and he reluctantly agrees. This will put him on the path that will lead his straight into Devon's arms and his bed, despite Sawyer being done with love and Alphas after being dumped by his fiance. The more time the two spend together, the closer they get and when Sawyer ends up pregnant, Devon is all in. Sawyer manages to get past his fears, with a little advice from his brother Chase, and accepts that Devon truly loves him and is willing to be with him always.

I absolutely love strong, independent omegas who know what they want and are not shy to insist on getting it. Such a one is Sawyer, strong, self-sufficient, and committed to his construction business. Unfortunately, his alpha doesn't understand this, and his ultimatum leaves Sawyer heart-broken, a little bitter, and sworn off alphas ever after. Then he meets Devon. There is attraction and connection, but Sawyer isn't going to yield his goals and dreams for an alpha. Devon is another great character. He has the protective alpha instinct, but he knows when to back off and let Sawyer do his thing. He respects Sawyer's abilities. There is a spark here, and it was enjoyable to watch the two come together and realize they were more than just a fling, that permanent was possible without giving anything up. I really enjoyed this sweet, pretty low angst romance.

Don't be fooled by appearances! Sawyer, 6'3" of manly omega busts stereotypes every day. Sawyer has gotten used to mis perceptions and maybe admittedly, a little defensive. Trevor, confident manly alpha is tired of stereotypes and intrigued, attracted and charmed by Sawyer. They are both strong men and don't see weakness in either. Each has been challenged by romantic interests in the past and carry a healthy load of baggage. They decide on casual. Can they stick with that? How do their personalities miss the challenge? Adorable story. Challenging story. Their family members add charm to the story. Nothing is certain, but the dance is great. I loved this story because it pulls you in hoping for the best for these two delightful men. I received an ARCfrom Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Fixer Upper is a beautifully written, light, sweet, mpreg story. Sawyer, an omega with his own business, recently ended a relationship and the last thing he needs is another alpha telling him what to do. Devon, an alpha who has hired Sawyer to renovate at house he purchased, can't seem to take his eyes off Sawyer. The last thing Sawyer thought he could have was the one thing that would bring him and Devon closer together, a baby. I love Sawyer and Devon together. They are so sweet together and just who the other needs.
If you enjoy light fluffy mpreg you don't want to miss this book. Highly recommend

Such a sweet love story! Sawyer is an omega but very much not when it comes to the stereotypical description of an omega, he’s tall and built and works with his hands. So when the stereotypical alpha Devon shows interest in him he baulks at his attempts. Well until he thinks they can just have a simple no strings attached relationship. But son feelings change and it will take a little something to get both men on the same page. Sawyer is still very much skiddish when it comes to giving his heart so this short but sweet love story is about him finding out if he can trust again. Devon is the sweetest alpha I’ve read about in a while so you can’t help but fall in love with him!

Cute little short story with a double entendre for a title.

Devon, the alpha, is pure alpha: huge, protective, confident. Sawyer, the omega, is not the typical omega: he's also huge, independent, confident and capable. I love me a smexy story with two "alpha" males. Sawyer might be an omega but he can hold his own, and with his heart broken from a previous relationship he needs some convincing to take things further than a one night stand.

This was a fun, quick read with some steamy times between two assertive men, and when you toss in some knotting and an mpreg, it makes for an entertaining read.

Sawyer and Omega runs his own business he doesn't do the things other Omegas do and after a recent break-up he's done with pushy Alphas until he meets Devon who he tries to resist but when your in charge of the construction on a property he purchased easier said then done.

Devon is wealthy and works allot and never gets attached to and Omega but write from the start he cant get enough of Sawyer and after one steamy night they will have to work threw some things. This was a sweet steamy romance were Sawyer and Devon learned how to love each other and make things work.

Sawyer has worked hard to prove that he can be independent run his own construction agency. After getting his heart broken by an alpha he thought he would build a life with he decides to go it alkne. Then he meets Devon, an alpha for sure but it turns out that Devon is not only a real estate developer that wants to rehab property. Devon works lovingly to rehab Sawyer's heart and belief in family. I read this in one evening and it was so heartwarming.

I couldn’t stop laughing in the beginning when Sawyer and Devon met. Sawyer wasn’t afraid to speak his mind and surprisingly, Sawyer’s independence and bluntness, didn’t put Devon off.

Devon surprised me and himself too. He was patient, sweet, caring and didn’t push to have his way.

This was a short read but a sweet one and I enjoyed it.

Fixer

Sawyer was a self-made omega, owning his own construction company. He was independent and refused to rely upon an alpha, especially after the last one broke his heart. While he finds himself being hired to renovate a house, for Devon an alpha. Devon takes one look at Sawyer, and he's determine to have him. This short story was fun, and sweet.

It was OK. The characters were likeable. I just felt it was missing a little thrill/drama. Also, even though I find Mpreg fine to read, It's a bit off throwing not knowing the mechanics of it, like there's a part missing from the story. It's pretty much a fast 0aced vanilla story, for a one time read I'd recommend but don't think it's something I'll reread.
