“Tell me a story Daddy.” Kikoi, xolos wrangler by night and King Talos’ snuggle monster by day, demanded.
“What story do you want to hear tonight, baby boy?” Talos, Vampyr King and Supernatural Council Member, asked while he pulled Kikoi onto his lap.
“I want to hear about when you met Daddy Bayne.” Almost three hundred years old and Kikoi would never get tired of story time.
“Again?” Talos arched an eyebrow with amusement.
“Yes! It’s a good one.” Kikoi beamed at Talos.
Talos leaned against the headboard of their bed as Bayne, former assassin but still looked damn good in armor, joined them and began…

The Age of Man has passed, and a new age is upon the Earth. An age of magic and technology ruled by the supernatural beings that once hid amongst humanity has begun.

Bayne is thrust into a world he thinks he knows but quickly discovers his whole life has been built on lies. Talos, perfectly happy ruling his corner of the world, is faced with an unexpected and unwelcome change that comes with the mate chosen by Fate. Together they must discover how to live and, in the end, love one another. Fate has more in store for them than learning to love someone they should hate. Will they be open to all the possibilities Fate lays out for them?

Bloodlines of Fate is a new urban fantasy series set in a world destroyed by humans and resurrected by supernatural beings. Fate has many plans for the vampires, unicorns, therianthropes, elves, and humans of this new world. While their mates may be fated, love isn't that easy.

This book contains depictions of gladiatorial combat, snarky fem twinks who will cut you, kings in stilettos, and awkward heats with a pinch of daddy kink.

Talos is part one of a two-part story arch that tells the love story of two triads (MMM). It does end in an HFN with a HEA tied into the second part. This is a type of omegaverse with mpreg.

Ok, I may be exaggerating a bit but this new series is whack, and I mean that in the nicest way.

Briefly, this is a futuristic post apocalyptic world where humans aren’t really the good guys and the supernaturals have basically come to rule, having saved earth from said human greed and corruption. The leader is King Talos, a Vampyri (a born breed of vamp), who’s often the target of human rebellion factions. It’s just another day in paradise as Talos goes about his ostentatious life of a mostly benevolent, definitely indulgent, but always guarded routine, thinking he’ll easily handle another rote assassination attempt with nary a blip on his schedule. Imagine Talos’s surprise when the assassin turns out to be his mate and a human at that.

What you won’t get is an angsty push pull between Talos and Bayne. You also won’t get a drawn out thoughtful look at the evolution of said enemies to lovers. This is almost campy fun (if you like to toss in some brutality and depravity) where the author has taken the setting and the beings who inhabit it to the max. Regardless, I think mainly Carothers had a grand time creating this world and basically had the mentality of “anything goes” especially dabbling in the following (with varying intensity) which may or may not titillate...

-gratuitous gladiator gore
-public sex
-unicorn sex
-blood play
-urination play?? (beyond a simple golden shower)
-ménage (lovers of mate monogamy beware)
-daddy kink
-touches of bdsm
-heats and mpreg

Now while the story does focus on Talos and Bayne, it also focuses a lot on the dynamic between his brother and BFF (Odin and Majid are trying to complete their mate triad) as well as several other periphery characters who are sure to be featured in their own future books.

I’m on the fence whether I’ll continue, but I will say the sequel hints at the 3rd component of Odin and Majid’s triangle which is very enticing as I do love me a good gentle, or not so gentle, giant especially since it's going to be a bear. Honestly, I don’t think my staid self is the target audience but if you like violence and debauchery, fated mates, a new take on born vampires, along with a varied dabbling in all sorts sexual shenanigans, then this might be the tangent to take you away from the usual MM fare!

Thank you to the author for a copy in exchange for an honest review

As an infiltrator, Bayne wants Talos’ kingdom down. He hates vampires and wants to destroy all the bloodsuckers.

Talos looks like a teen but has an ego and attitude as a giant. When he laid eyes on Bayne he understands Bayne is his mate. Only Bayne has other plans!
What Bayne doesn’t know Talos can read minds. And Talos can see all the indoctrinated lies put in Bayne’s head.

Injustice is done by humans to Talos's vampyr world and family.
Bayne can see who Talos really is. Let’s not forget to mention gorgeous baby boy Kikoi.

There is a heartbreaking story with Odin and Majid, respectively Talos’ brother and best friend, book two will hopefully tell more.

Sexual activity is everywhere and liberating. I loved it!
We can experience every step in Bayne’s new world, be aware there is a lot of awesomeness to discover!

A story with amazing supernatural species, like some with tendrils, a black unicorn, Xolo's, four fangs vampyri.
The environments were fantastic, someone let their fantasy run with a super-duper bathroom lol. The reproduction part, gosh, excellently done. This whole fantasy narrative was awesomeness! A story with master/slave relationship, Daddy kink, mpreg, and graphic sexual acts, just so you know if you’re looking for it Ha!!

A little advice before you start reading this book: make sure you have some free time, because you won't be able to put it down once you've started it.

From the first pages I was completely absorbed into a unique paranormal world, whose lore, rules, politics and hierarchy are presented a bit at a time, so it's a continuing lesson of its workings.

Admittedly, my first impression of Talos was of a bloodthirsty leader and I loved discovering, as the story progressed, that he was incredibly complex, with intriguing depths of feelings and motivations. And, this book being the first of an ongoing series, I'm sure there's still a lot more to reveal about him, Bayne and the rest of the awesome cast of characters introduced by the author. There were multiple POVs, insights into more than Talos or Bayne's thoughts, which I loved. Multiple plotlines opened that will surely keep me holding my breath until I'll get my hands on the next book.

I honestly didn't think I'd love anything more than The Assassins' Guild by this author, but Bloodlines of Fate is now at first place. I love it!

Do you ever felt the urge to re-read the book exactly the moment after you finished it? Or the moment BEFORE you even finished it? Because I felt this way way before the end, I just wanted to re-read this book, I wanted to be with Talos Bayne and Kikoi again, and I just wanted to spend more time with them in this world.

This book was more then amazing. I never thought it would be this awesome, it's my new favorite! The story, the characters, the writing style, the world building - everything was perfect.

Loved Kikoi with Talos and their Daddy/boy thing, it was so sweet. Loved Odin and Majid - and can't wait them to find their third. And Bayne, he was sweet too, and loved how he changed and fell in love with Talos. Talos and Bayne together was really great, and OMG Talos is such a marshmallow inside, he is so cute just awwww♥ And when they mated and Talos' body changed, and oh wow! That scene was so HOT. I love mating and heat scenes, and my only problem with that scene that it was way too short. But the whole book was way too short in my opinion. I just NEED more.

Unique story, interesting storyline, amazing characters and HOT scenes. LOVED this book so much! And really can't wait Majid&Odin's story, and I hope we got to see more Talos&Bayne&Kikoi. Perfect story. Highly recommend it!

[UPDATE: Since my review below was originally posted on 9/11/20, the Goodreads book blurb has apparently now been changed to inform readers that this romance involves a triad, which would have been nice to know when I started reading it and probably would have shortened my review/comments considerably :)]

***possible spoilers in review below***

The cover on this one is what first caught my eye - I loved it (the pictures of the characters at the beginning of each chapter were a nice touch too and helped with POV changes). This was going to be a new author experience for me, so I had no idea what to expect. But the urban fantasy blurb interested me, and even though a certain element of the author's warnings/notes gave me pause I was ready to take the plunge. Bring on the vamp king in his stiletto heels and his gladiator mate.

I liked the idea of a diverse supernatural community finally being able to live openly with the humans, and even being in charge of the continents to try to undo the damage to the environment that the humans had caused through years of war and carelessness. It seemed like a pretty efficient model to follow. Talos, as king, with his tailored suits and stiletto heels was a dream to envision. The imagery was also nicely detailed in other places - I could easily picture a gladiator colosseum alongside casinos and skyscrapers of what used to be the Las Vegas Strip (imagine winning at a slot machine and then walking across the street to see Spartacus do battle - yes please). But there were also times where I felt like I was dropped into the middle of a series and should have already been familiar with different characters/species, their hierarchy of power or even the war itself between the humans and the supes. More world-building was needed or details fleshed out. And because there were so many characters involved in this story, when certain characters would be mentioned but not identified as to "who" they were until later in the book, if at all (like Gideon/Casper), it only added to my confusion that I had missed something somewhere.

I think the biggest issue I had though was just trying to figure out how the familial relationships worked. We're not told in the beginning chapters if these vampires are born vs. made. We know Talos is several thousand years old and he had two fathers. Since m-preg is part of this story, I assumed the vampires were born that way. But the colosseum arena was filled with thousands of Talos's progeny (several generations), his bloodline running through them all, so that made me wonder. And when Talos remembered fondly having sex with his own older brother Odin, and then proceeded to have sex with one of his youngest sons Kikoi, I was like say what now? Is this for real? I concluded that these must be the kind of vampires who typically have sex with the ones they turn. Plus Kikoi called Talos Daddy instead of sire (and also had sex with his Uncle Odin). But Odin was there when Talos was actually born and helped raise him, so yeah there is that. A little awkward for me. The whole thing was basically a free-for-all where sex was concerned with the family because apparently family doesn't count. But Talos did have one exception when it came to sex. He slept with his brother and children but not once with his best friend Majid in over 2000 years? Alrighty then.

I was expecting a huge amount of animosity between Talos and Bayne. Or between Bayne and Talos's family members. We didn't get that at all. It was the complete opposite. Talos was nothing but understanding and accommodating once he figured out Bayne was his mate and all the supes around them were happy and congratulated Talos for finding Bayne. Bayne resisted the filthy leeches for like two seconds and then decided Talos wasn't so bad. But I didn't really buy into their mating bond because it seemed to me that Bayne was more interested in Kikoi. Oh sure he said the pull between him and Talos was stronger (even though they had not completed the mating bond) but what he felt for Kikoi was strong too and so it would only feel right if Kikoi became a triad with them. Again, what? The blurb didn't mention this being about a triad, so I felt cheated out of any sparks between Talos and Bayne. Yes, Talos was fond of one of his youngest children (who had been turned two centuries prior when he was 15 btw), but he was still willing to kick Kikoi out of his bed because of his mating bond with Bayne. If Kikoi was truly their second mate, why would Talos even consider that (or pass Kikoi around to Odin)? But he said it was Bayne's decision to make about Kikoi and was surprised yet happy about it (I knew the triad thing was coming with Kikoi when the three toothbrushes were mentioned in the shower - otherwise why?). There were other things about this bond that had me questioning its strength. In the beginning, when Talos first found his mate, any touching by other males supposedly made his skin crawl. This to me was how a normal mate bond should have worked. But then he wondered if Bayne would expect him to be monogamous. And when Kikoi was invited to be part of their triad, the first thing he asked was if he could still sleep with his brothers. Nice. I thought the mating bond was supposed to be special because they sometimes waited an eternity for their mates to cross paths. That it was a celebration when it happened, because they'd feel complete and no longer be interested in anyone else after that. Guess not. Because of these thoughts, I felt like their encounters were more mechanical than passionate and lacked the spark I was hoping for. Majid on the other hand claimed complete ownership of Odin (beware shifted unicorn/vampire sex here) and there would be no one else for Odin except for when they found their missing third.

I'm a little curious how the second book will conclude the series. Based on the title it will most likely focus on Majid, Odin and Siku, but I'm not sure how much more of Majid's sexual preferences I'd like to see revealed. Siku seems like their total opposite as far as the violence though, so that could be interesting. Talos, Bayne (and sweet Kikoi I suppose) will hopefully bond more with upcoming events but with this series' particular vampire mate bonds and familial relationships, it could be back to partying as usual. And that would be a bummer for me.

Bloodlines of Fate: Talos
MMy Thoughts Confessions and Review:

Carothers has completely toppled Dragon War Chronicles with this new series. The time when humans ruled the earth is no more. Though they still exist, they continue to be a blight on the planet and so are treated as the scourge they are.

A Vampyr King rules with a strong but just hand. He surrounds himself with his sons, and brothers who help rule near and far. Even though this fantasy takes place in the future, you often feel you have been transported to the past. Gladiator type games happen, but there is always a reason behind them not known to the spectators. Nothing in the story happens without reason. Every scene moves the story forward and enhances the experience.

The characters are as lively and wonderful as any you come to expect from a Carothers’ creation. However, this time there seems to be an extra element of magic and mayhem infused in them. From Talos the King, all the way down to Majid, his friend, who happens to be a magnificent black unicorn. Each character reaches out for you through word or gesture and draws you into their world. Each quirk whether it be a gesture of friendship and sentimentality or one of warrior rage, you get a full set of emotions for each character, which brings them to life even more.

There is so much going on in book one, but you never feel lost or left behind. I love that the story sweeps you right along with it as the characters go through all the ups and downs and trials of what it means to discover truth, and want to be part of something bigger and better than themselves.

This world is magnificent, and had me envisioning all the supes, and what it would be like to live in this kingdom filled with so many fantastical creatures and shifters. I know I would absolutely want to be something other than human though. There were no mentions of dragons in this book, but I am hopeful fate will pour one or five into the mixing pot, I know that would make my inner dragon most happy. 😍

You should know too, this is a brutal read at times, so mind the content warnings. If gratuitous sexual situations, including throuples, bothers you then this is not the book for you. There are also action sequences that are gruesome, and some readers may find the kinkier side of the supe lifestyle OTT. If you are offended by watersports, bloodplay, MMM, Master/slave, and daddy kink, this is definitely NOT for you. However, if you love all things supernatural and kinky, dive in the deep end and enjoy!

I cannot wait to see what delights come our way in book two!

(From the blurb - Bloodlines of Fate is a urban fantasy series set in a world destroyed by humans and resurrected by supernatural beings).

Talos is a Vampyri. He was a born vampire not made.

Bayne is a human. Taught that vampires and other supernatural beings are monsters. Sent to kill Talos, he didn’t expect to find a mate. In a matter of days his whole life changes and he certainly didn’t expect Talos and his made son Kikoi.

I can’t explain how much this book intrigued me. The supernatural beings were numerous and totally different than any other book I’ve read. I mean where else would you find an albino seven foot vampire, a twink with daddy kink, Anubis type dogs, and holy cow the UNICORN. Great story, there is supposed to be one more book but I think this world deserves more than that.

Bayne was raised by the human resistance who for many years fed him stories that were meant to make him hate the vampires who rule the world and other supernatural creatures. The young man is ready to sacrifice his life fighting for what he believes is right. It turns out, however, that his entire life has been built on lies, and the world beyond the resistance's hideouts is not what he has been told. Fate gives Bayne the chance to make big, meaningful changes and find true love. However, he must overcome the reluctance which is the result of years of lies and take the risk of loving someone who he considered his enemy.

"Talos" is the first volume of a new series by A.G. Carothers entitled "Bloodlines of Fate". The thing that immediately catches the reader's eye, as they start their adventure with this series, is the universe. One of its most important characteristics is certainly the fact that it differs from those most often seen in paranormal romance. In the world created by A.G. Carothers we see the supernatural beings who are part of the ruling class, the elite, while humans occupy the lower ranks in the society. What's interesting, people themselves are the reason behind their poor living conditions, which largely reveals the truth about us, about our race. When talking about the universe of this series, we cannot forget about the creatures living in it. In "Talos" we see a lot of them, some of which are new and really original. And this is just the beginning of the series, so who knows what else the world of "Bloodlines of Fate" has to offer. I'm really looking forward to the next volume.

The big advantage of "Talos", and thus a very characteristic feature of A.G. Carothers' novels, are the subjects raised in every story, and more precisely, kinks, tropes and the lifestyle of the characters. Thanks to all this, the reader has the opportunity to get to know themselves better and their taste regarding the characters' sexuality. How is this possible? Well, thanks to the fact that in the novel we can find everything possible, which is often a challenge for us, we have the opportunity to see what we like and what makes us go beyond the zone of our literary comfort. I admit that I like that very much. Thanks to the fact that A.G. Carothers is not afraid of anything, in the novel very important are not only the characters, but also the readers who have to find themselves in the characters' sexual lives so that they let them simply be who they are and enjoy what they like. "Talos" is a repository of kinks and various tropes, which quickly conquered my heart.

The thing that surprised me about "Talos" was the fact the novel shows us the story of more than one couple. I didn't expect that, but I liked that a lot. I was very interested in all the characters that this novel revolves around, so it was nice to learn about their present and past lives. Their stories really fascinated me. To tell the truth, many times I have been looking forward to learning more about their fate. Not only that, I couldn't decide myself who I would like to read more about at a given moment. To put it simply, I was totally into this novel and I would say that I'm addicted to it even now. Thus, when I finished reading "Talos", I immediately started to miss the characters, their relationships, their adventures.

In conclusion, "Talos" can boast of unique, original universe, captivating, imaginative story and fascinating characters whom we fall in love with in the blink of an eye. It is also a mine of kinks that broaden our worldview, allow us to "taste" some of the often a bit extreme ones and give us a chance to have some fun. I wholeheartedly recommend you "Talos" as I sincerely love this story.

Carothers pod tytułem „Bloodlines of Fate”. Carothers to istoty nadnaturalne należą do klasy rządzącej, do elity, z kolei ludzie zajmują niższe szczeble społeczne.

Open minds & hearts

Reading a book by AG Carothers is like riding a new rollercoaster. You’re a little nervous about what to expect but you know it’ll be fun, full of thrills and exciting twists and turns. I love this new world and all of the connections in it. It’s so cleverly written with the intertwined love stories and friendships. As a fun aside, I really want to decorate my bathroom with the same tiles as in Talos’s.

“Fate chose you to live for many years by his side and balance him.” I felt for Bayne and his emotional turmoil and Talos brought out many strong emotions in me. I fell hard for them both and for all of the characters we meet. I have a feeling we’ve only just started on our journey with them and it’s gonna be a heck of a ride. So fasten your seatbelts, hang on to your lap bar and enjoy!

This is story is set in an age of magic and technology, taken over by supernatural beings.

𝑽𝒂𝒎𝒑𝒚𝒓𝒊 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒂 𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒐 𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒗𝒆𝒔.

Talos is a Vampyr King. He is a pure breed and hasn't been turned like the other run of the mill vampires.
After being forced to hide amongst the human population for millenia, he despises the very race that forced him to keep hidden his true nature.
But not anymore, in the last fifty years the supernaturals have overpowered the weak human race and now rule over them, instead of living in secrecy.

“𝑰'𝒎 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒈𝒂𝒚!" 𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒆𝒅.
"𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒅𝒊𝒄𝒌 𝒔𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒘𝒊𝒔𝒆." 𝑻𝒂𝒍𝒐𝒔 𝒔𝒎𝒊𝒓𝒌𝒆𝒅.”

Bayne has been raised by the human resistance and plans on assassinating the Vampyr King and oblirating the race that now claims supremacy over his own.
But the Vampyr King looked so young and innocent and he smiled so beautifully. It would be a shame to kill a creature who looked so innocent, only he wasn't young or innocent and Bayne had to remember that.
But Bayne's great plans are foiled when instead of getting a chance at killing the king, he is now going to be tied to him to the end of eternity.

Talos didn't expect to find a mate in a human, moreover a man who was sent to assassinate him.
Can he love a man fated to be his of the very race he has come to despise?

I am in awe of the world building created by this author. It was very futuristic and the fantasy element added to it, made it all the more intriguing.
I love the relationship that Talos, Bayne and Kikoi share. A very unique outlook, and I’m not sure whether to categorize this as an MMM due to the nature of their proclivities.
I loved how Kikoi could change from an innocent baby boy to a badass warrior, ready to serve his Father and Sire.

Overall this was kinky and hot, and so much fun to read.
There is a variety of supernatural beings ranging from shifter Black unicorns to half giants!

We have Majid, Odin and Siku's story coming up soon. Talos and Bayne's story will also continue alongside, so I suggest you read this one first before heading into the next installment.

When I read the blurb for this book, I thought "Oh, this looks like it's gonna be fantastic!" OMFG!! This marvelous, amazing, fascinating, grab-you-by-the-feels, five alarm flaming hot (🔥🔥🔥!) snarky, delightfully decadent, unconventional, completely unexpected, definitely different, and totally awesome story blew past that, and took me along for the ride. It had me hooked from beginning to end, and I can't wait to see what happens next!

Talos is a born vampire, Bayne is a human taught that vampire and the supernatural are monsters. He is sent to kill Talos. But he finds a mate instead. I loved everything about this story and the world that the author created!! Once I picked it up, I could NOT put it down! Fantastic story!! The story was well written with awesome character development. I am voluntarily leaving a review form an advanced copy that I received. My reviews are solely based on my thoughts and opinions.

I absolutely loved this book. This was awesomely kinky and yet sweet.

Where to start... Talos is a badass vampire leader now that humans have had the world taken away from them (after doing what humans tend to do – fuck shit up without caring). In this world paranormals have the power and they attempt to provide the circumstances for humans to live. However, some humans (see my previous comment) just can’t be happy with how things are and form a resistance. This is where Bayne comes from and how we meet him – he’s on a mission to assassinate one of the people he blames for what how he sees the world. Alas, things don’t go quite to plan and Talos finds his mate in Bayne – while Bayne finds out things aren’t quite what they seem. There is some super cool gladiator action involved throughout this book. There’s also a nice dose of action and gore.

One thing I would say, I hadn’t realised this would end up being MMM. It in no way detracted for me, but it was a surprise. All three characters come together beautifully though (and make sense with how they come together). I really loved the side characters in this as well. Odin is my favourite (because who doesn’t love a big, tough, sweet, submissive guy?!?!). I’m really looking forward to his, Majid and Suki’s story – I genuinely cannot wait to see what else Majid has in store for Odin and their third. I also really want to know what happened all those years ago (though I feel like it’s going to break my heart when I do find out). The kink in this was off the charts and I am very much looking forward to seeing where it goes from here.

All in all, a great start to a really interesting series. I’m really hoping this will end up being a long running series because I love the world that’s being built and the characters in it!

A Joyfully Jay review.

3 stars

The primary focus of the story revolves around Bayne being introduced to his new world. Growing up as a member of the resistance — THRUST (The Human Revolution Usurping Supernatural Tyranny) — he was told vampires are evil, and can be killed by silver and sunlight and garlic. He was raised in an underground bunker, trained to a knife’s edge, asked to give regular semen deposits for breeding purposes, and then sent out to kill Talos. But upon meeting the vampyre king, he’s told the world is a different place than he was lead to believe … and in maybe an hour, he goes from being a devoted member of the human resistance to being Talos’ devoted soon-to-be bonded mate.

I loved this book! It's so different to anything I've read and that's a good thing. I love the world and I love the characters. AG isn't afraid to write a story that goes against conventions and they do it beautifully. Sure, this isn't for everyone and you might even question why you find certain scenes (Majid and Odin in the coliseum *fans myself*) so fucking hot, but I highly suggest you take a chance on this one.

This book is an exciting introduction to a brand new world. It’s unlike anything I have read before. Instead, A.G. Carothers creates a compelling and addictive story based on supernatural characters, some of which I’ve never read in any story.

The character development is superb. I absolutely love Bayne. My heart went to Bayne and Talos both during this book. I especially love how the author draws in the additional characters so there is always a sense of realism to the story. The world-building is incredible. This let me step right into the pages and I never looked away.

I’m in awe of the storyline. I couldn’t anticipate what would happen and was just along for the ride. It was very well thought out and nothing seemed out of place. The pacing was excellent and everything fit, including the daddy kink and mpreg. I already have reread it once and I can tell it’s going on my frequent reread list.

5 stars for an incredibly unique and addictive read.

Excellent new series

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and all of the lovely characters in it. I liked how Bayne learned to trust his own instincts when it came to Talos and Kikoi.

Odin and Majid were such an interesting dynamic, and I can’t wait to see how things turn out for them when they finally meet up with their third.

I've read a couple of other books by A.G. Carothers, but they were nothing like this one. Take everything you know about PNR, add in a few other things, mix well, and you get Talos. Now, that makes this sound like a muddled up mess, and it isn't. It's a unique story that I thoroughly enjoyed. With a well-written story and a unique set of characters you are drawn into the story-line and find yourself captivated. I do think that the story is a bit short, but I'm hoping for more character development as the plot develops in the next book. I need the next book. 4 stars and I highly suggest you one-click today!

This is a sort of sci-fi fantasy story set in the future, where paranormals have outed themselves to humanity and taken over the world.

In the first chapter, Talos invited his brother, all of his children, his grandchildren, his great-grandchildren, and all other descendents into his colosseum, where drugged humans were given to all attendees for sex like some kind of pre-game entertainment before Talos' would-be assassins were going to be fighting each other, I think like gladiators.

I don't think rape is a fitting activity for a family reunion, and decided to quit reading.

Great start to a new series!

I loved Talos by A.G. Carothers. It's the first book in the Bloodlines of Fate series. I loved Talos, Blayne, and Kikoi's story. I loved the world building and all of the action in the colosseum. I also loved that there is a difference between a vampyre and vampire. The first is born and the second is turned. I also loved that Talos doesn't have a problem with Blayne being human or that he came from THRUST. I loved that Blayne wants to help the humans and that Talos will support him in any way he can. I also loved Odin and Majid and can't wait to read more about them in the next book, Majid. I read this book using the Kindle Unlimited program.

Wow loved this book

Being new to A.G.Carothers I was not sure what to expect, but I loved it. The world building was brilliant - a world run by supernaturals after humans muck it up. Talos is a vampyr and king of all in his sector, Bayne is human and turns out to be his mate. This of course leads to some trouble as they both come to understand each other. Two other MC are Majid - a black unicorn and best friend of Talos and Odin who is his mate and Talos's brother. The story includes gladiatorial fights, daddy kink and mpreg. Can't wait for the next book.

It's a Triad

It wasn't clear in the description that this was m/m/m or else I wouldn't have read it. I don't enjoy multiple partner books but this was fine. I finished it and the story/ world built was interesting. Just should have been clearer in description

The very first thing I noticed with this book was its cover. I love drawn covers, so that was the first thing that attracted me. Personally, I don’t think the story matches up to the cover except in terms of the characters—it definitely doesn’t reflect the tone of the story itself. The supernatural inhabitants of this world in the royal circle are beyond uninhibited, and their actions are explicitly described…that goes for fighting and physical intimacy. Very public, erotic, and graphic intimacy.

As for the main characters…I liked that Bayne was dedicated to the cause for which he was fighting. When it came to him accepting the actual reality of the situation and his link to Talos though, I thought he embraced everything too easily and quickly, especially given that he’d been taught otherwise his entire life—with the oppressed life he lived, both in upbringing and training to fight his change of heart was too fast. Talos, well he is what he is and he makes no apologies for it. He’s very matter-of-fact, but given his position and his nature he is exactly as he should be.

Given the shorter length of this story, it was hard for me to get a true feel for the dynamic between Talos and Bayne regardless of the fated mate aspect of their relationship. Everything felt more physical than anything else. With this being the first in the series, there was also a lot left open at the end of the book and it felt like this installment ended a bit abruptly given all the unknowns at the end.

The only other story I’ve read by this author was a short story in the Come, Play erotica anthology, and I really liked it. Talos is a very different story than that, and the writing felt different to me as well, almost a little unpolished. But this is definitely an interesting start to the series, and readers for whom unrestrained, hedonistic scenes are a plus are sure to find Talos an intriguing read. For me, it’s 3 stars for Talos…and you can be very sure that this book is meant strictly for readers 18+ for adult language, sexual content, and violence.

You have to suspend some belief... change your expectations, where a book (or really any "art") is concerned. What the readers of contemporary and non-fiction is not just expected but no longer remarked upon for paranormal and sci-fi and fantasy fans. But sometimes, you don't just take a new set of rules, sometimes, you have to simply let everything go and give yourself to the flow...

Because otherwise, this book is not that great. When it was, in fact, interesting enough.

You see, the MC is an assassin. Sent to kill the evil king. And the problem is not that the king is not evil and his kongdom is pretty awesome. The problem is the MC GREW up up fed by certain brainwashing oatmeals and pretty much a few minutes and days into meeting the evil kind, he is happy enough to exchange his hate for love. I mean, I know they say those are two sides of the same coin but this was extreme... or it would be, if I was judging it but normal standards. Which I was not. Since the book started with an orgy. Done while watching gladiator fighting. Done to death. You know, the whole book is pretty... orgy-like. People get naked at some "weird" times and you have some "ancient" characters, which, of course, don't behave at all like they are ancient but for some reason, at this point in time, 2 couples, sorry, threesomes... open threesomes?? Like in an open relationship? Are coming together and finding their happily every after.

And I guess it's romantic and there are some words accompanying that but it's sort of this world with postapocalyptic-wierdly-utopian issues mixed with the afforementioned 2 relationships of people who are closed and it's not exactly focused on the world issues, if you catch my drift. In fact, if you are not... there is some kinky stuff and... the plot is background to advance their relationship and... wait, is this like...? Is this smut? Is that what I was reading??

Who would have thought...

But yes, if turning off your brain is what you're after? Then bon apetite. Wink.
