A refuge from the spores becomes a breeding ground for disaster, and the promise of a cure is tainted by corruption and greed in book 3 of the SPORE series.
Tired of the usual post-apocalyptic tale? Welcome to your new addiction.
SPORE is a new, thrilling post-apocalyptic survival saga from #1 best-selling authors Mike Kraus and Kenny Soward.
A billion acres of food have been wiped off the map overnight.
A mysterious illness, somehow connected to America's agriculture collapse, tears through the country - and the world - like a hot knife through butter, killing millions as it spreads.
Pockets of survivors are forced to trek west, seeking shelter and food as they fight against the disease that lives in the air and soil around them.
As death and destruction spread and the country collapses in upon itself, those left behind will be forced to work together to survive, lest they be consumed by the spores.
Welcome to my little space out on the web. I'm Kenny Soward, and I'm an author, musician, and once IT guy. I write books in many sub-genres of Science Fiction and Fantasy, including post-apocalyptic, military science fiction, epic fantasy, and horror. I'm influenced by authors such as Stephen King, George R. R. Martin, Anne Rice, J.K. Rowling, Mark Lawrence, Dan Simmons, Robin Hobb, Robert McCammon, Larry Correia, and Mike Kraus.
I love all kinds of movies and shows from Battle Star Galactica (reboot) to the Walking Dead. There's nothing I won't try.
I grew up in Kentucky in a small suburb just south of Cincinnati, Ohio, listening to hard rock and playing outdoors. In those quiet 1970's streets, I jumped bikes, played Nerf football, and came away with many scars.
My grandfather and many of my uncles and cousins served in the United States Military, and my father was a Kentucky State Trooper. Their efforts taught me the meaning of sacrifice and gratitude. I've always had an avid curiosity about the world around me, and I hope my enthusiasm for life carries over into my stories, even the dark ones.
I overall like this series. I really want to, but sometimes it's hard to get by little mistakes that a Google search would have caught. For example, despite Kraus having written other books which included military Humvees, in this book the Army shows up in Jeeps. Jeeps, jeeps, and jeeps all through it. The U.S. Military switched to the Humvee in the 1980s and even slight, basic research would have educated the writers that the classic "jeep-type" vehicle formerly used wasn't even made by "Jeep" the company. If they'd slipped and used the word once it would have been OK I guess, but to use it repeatedly really irritated me. And, the native Americans are still being persecuted in this book, which bothers me.
This series continues to be a good one with this short book 3. I do kind of marvel at the fact that the military is able to set up rogue slave camps but their decent counterparts can't eliminate them or catch the bad man that caused all of this. I also know that I really want a vehicle with AMI.
Wow ! This series has me hooked and can't wait for the next book to come out. The characters in this story come to life and you find that your excited for them and sad at times then you're laughing. You really need to read them.
The story is still engrossing and I am looking forward to the next book. I sure hope the authors don't mess things up by going wack doodle with one of the characters.
A global pandemic, of spores, killing all that breath. Civilians, rogue Soldiers, fighting to gain control over people and cities. For there own end. Scientists fighting for cures, being killed by the inventor of the pandemic spores.
Well written series...I have enjoyed each book so far. The story has intrigue and suspense, and just when I think I have it figured out, the plot shifts. Looking forward to the next book!
Really good read. Characters are likeable or hated. Story line is exciting. I'm rooting for Kim and her crew and Moe. Going to start the next book in this series as soon as I'm done with this review. Thanks Kenny Soward and Mike Kraus.
