“Star O’Brien is a haunting voice for the dead, the missing, and the lost.”
The second Irish cozy mystery, set in County Mayo, for the fiercely independent, inquisitive, hates to be disconnected from her cell phone, amateur sleuth Star O’Brien. A successful American information broker, she’s back in Ireland, in Cong, County Mayo, chasing down a mysterious woman named Evelyn Cosgrove who may or may not have information about Star’s mother, who’s been missing since Star was six years old.
As if Star’s life isn’t complicated enough, she discovers a female corpse while walking through Cong woods. Star finds herself travelling back and forth from Castlebar to Cong to figure out the motivation behind the victim’s murder. Although skeptical of the police, Star determines to talk to them about what and who she saw the night the woman was murdered.
There are ghost sightings, mysterious break-ins, and a creepy encounter as Star tries to put all the pieces together. But not before there’s another victim. Star doesn’t accept the police’s conclusion for one minute. She vows to find the truth which she does in a riveting confrontation with the killer.
Martha was born in New York City but lived in New Jersey beginning at the age of eight. In 2017, Martha and her partner, Bill, moved to Florida where she enjoys cooking, reading, swimming, and her Schipperke puppy, Turlough.
Martha’s passion for Ireland began when she made her first trip, at the age of four, to County Mayo, birthplace of her mother, and to County Cork, birthplace of her father. She returned to Ireland again at the age of sixteen to attend a boarding school, for two years, in Castlebar, County Mayo. Since then, Martha has visited her cousins and friends in Ireland for more than thirty-five years. It is her love for the people, the country, and all its beauty that inspired her to create a mystery and suspense series, set in Ireland, about an amateur detective, Star O’Brien, who is an American.
Martha is currently working on her second Star O’Brien novel.
