It’s been five years since the end of Eden, and that in that time Cottonville has rebuilt itself. JOHN is the head of the town security, and organizes patrols with himself, SETH, and JEN. KOREY is in charge of the day-to-day running of the town, and is helped by ALEXANDRIA and XAVIER. Under the family’s protection, Cottonville has become something of an idyllic paradise thanks to the town never suffering rowdy attacks. Nobody’s entirely sure why the rowdies stopped attacking, but many of the villagers think it might be due to all of the purple fauna that has been growing more and more in the town over the last five years. However a new threat is emerging... one that doesn't cherish life or the new idyllic world... and Cottonville must rise to the challenge. The second book in Skillet's Eden series that follows the themes of faith, hope and making the world a better place.
2.75 stars. I was definitely interested in this story until the ending where it felt a bit forced and rushed. There is supposedly another volume of this in the works and I’m not sure if I’d actually pick it up or not.
Better than the first! Great characters, great art, great redemption arcs for man and beast. It did read like a storyboard- like it was missing panels at places- but overall very worth the purchase, although I can't say I'm not biased!
This was better than the first book. (Though I did find some more word mistakes. And a couple of confusing scenes... where I had to look closer at the pages. I kept getting Alexandria mixed up with her mom, they look so much alike. Also when the kids find the baby Rowdy, it's in plain view beside them, when Xavier tells her they found an injured bird instead.) The illustrations look a bit different. Not sure if they changed illustrators... I loved the Panhead character! Felt like that was a shout out to the fans. <3 This story just keeps getting better! I like the Rowdies monsters. The glowing eyes are clever... I loved the arena scenes with John and his axe. "Just John". :) That last fight scene was kind of epic. The "ghost" looking character is creepy. I'm still not sure what he is... doesn't seem human, just in a human form. And old fashioned, like he's from the Wild West era. Looking forward to book 3.
I finally bought and read the second graphic novel written by John Cooper from my favorite band Skillet. It is called "Eden II: The Afrermath" a Skillet Graphic Novel. I think it is a good graphic novel series for those who like them but don't like all the sexual stuff or cussing. This is a good action packed series but one that is for young kids along with adults.
There is one thing that stuck out about this one, is there were a few places where a word should have been there that wasn't. But it still made since. But it did annoy me a very tiny bit. But the story itself is good. It kept my interst. I actually might like this one more than the first one. The first one is a lot of world building. This one had more action.
I give this ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5 stars. Of course I am totally biased when it comes to Skillet lol.
Again, this has a very Ted Dekker-type of vibe to it, which is a big hit for me. I loved every minute of this wild adventure, especially with the theme of freedom ringing through with every turn of the page.
This was even better than the first edition. I am such a sucker for gladiators so seeing John in an arena was awesome. The humor this time was so great! I love the kids and how they kind of came into this position of power and influence. Super intrigued to see where the story goes!
An ok story. This has a few what is going on moments, but for a comic book, not too bad. I enjoy Skillet's music, but these were just ok. Glad he tried though.
