It has been said that art imitates life. This could not be a truer statement regarding "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street." In a nutshell, the electric goes out on Maple Street, the neighbors congregate to "discuss" it by going around and around and around on the who, what, where, and why this happened. One small comment snowballs into an ever-increasing crescendo of ignorance, paranoia, accusations, condemnations, et cetera, and in the end, with its shocking dénouement, we discover what exactly was behind it all.

I could not help blurting out during this teleplay that the above scenario reminds me of the neighborhood in which I live, with the rumors, ignorance, accusations, paranoia, willy-nilly condemnations, and the going around and around with a subject that never leaves the merry-go-round of hot air.

Granted, this story reminds me of my neighborhood, yet on a broader scale, it can believably be applied to the world stage as a whole, with individual nations' infighting as a result of the help between internal enemies and external entities inciting trouble to their ultimate goals.
