Fiona Hurston was too young when we first met.
Too naïve.
Too innocent.
Too tempting.

I vowed to protect her, to keep her safe, and I have, for five long years.
Even when keeping her safe meant keeping my distance.
Even when the greatest threat to her innocence was me.

But Fiona’s not a girl anymore.
When danger’s at her door and we’re forced together, I won’t back down.
I’ll defend her. I’ll shield her. I’ll comfort and keep her.

Because Fiona Hurston is all grown up now.
And it’s time she realized... she’s mine.

First, I want to advise readers that this isn't completely a stand-alone (as many ARCies claim): the MC's "relationship" actually begins in Nolan and the criminal subplot in Keenan. I was only able to follow it because I've read the entire series.

Irish mafia man Lachlan and orphaned Fiona have loved each other since he helped rescue her from a bad home life when she was thirteen. Fast forward five years and she leaves for Boston to attend college. Soon, however, she finds herself in danger and he immediately flies across the ocean to protect her. Since the two give into their passion very quickly (due to her youth and his dangerous profession, he's initially reluctant to "claim" her, but gets over that in less than a day), there's absolutely no conflict or tension in their relationship. Perhaps realizing this, Ms. Henry presents us with a labyrinthine, torturous mystery that only tangentially affects the MC so I'm not sure what its point is other than to give Lachlan umpteen excuses to say some version of "My only job right now is to protect her" and beat her with a belt when she doesn't obey him -- claiming he doesn't enjoy hurting her all while getting a massive hard-on.

I'm going to freely admit that I've started teaching again and the current Covid crisis has made this doubly difficult; therefore, I have very little patience right now and this book did nothing but give me a headache. I've always thought that Ms. Henry could use a good editor (I'm not sure she uses one or, if she does, she doesn't mention it): her characters are often incoherent and their attitudes change on a dime. Fiona, in particular, gave me whiplash: one moment she feels she doesn't belong in her sister's home, the next she does; one moment she wants to go to college, the next she doesn't; one moment she wants to leave Boston; the next she wants to stay; one moment she can't keep her hands off Lachlan, the next she pulls away. Her wants, goals, and emotions were all over the place and I kept thinking that this young woman was way too confused to commit herself to someone for life and that the older Lachlan should have realized this. While I understand that the author uses Fiona's confusion to inject some conflict into the relationship, Fiona just came across as inconsistent rather than a fully realized, coherent character.

The only parts of this that I did enjoy were the flashbacks to Lachlan and Fiona's friendship when they were younger: those were very sweet and touching. Their relationship as adults, however, was absurd (seriously, who takes an eighteen year-old they claim to care for and want to keep safe to a sex auction run by the Boston mafia?). While the fact that they've known each other for years does make their insta-love plausible, her nano-second of concern for the violence she witnesses was not. And I was very disappointed that she gave up her chance . I was also disappointed in Lachlan, who dismissed her very real concerns as "childish."

TBH, this book's plot, characters, and main relationship were so ludicrous that I skimmed much of it (I agree with another reviewer: if the clan is supposed to be so intelligent, observant, and organized, how is the enemy able to concoct such a plan?). While I understand that these are fantasies, if they're set in our contemporary world, my dive into the pool of ridiculousness can only be so deep. I suggest that if it interests you that you read the many four-and five-star reviews it's already gotten. As for me, I'm too firmly rooted in the 21st century to find anything that celebrates 1950s domestic life, gender roles, and relationships remotely appealing. Not one of these female characters is stronger, more memorable, or more interesting at the end of these books than they were in the beginning.

2 stars. Really, Ms. Henry, hire an editor, if only to take out every third "You're mine!"

3.5 ⭐

We met these two in past books and now they are finally getting their story.

LachIan has always felt something for Fiona but shes underage and be kept that distance but still protected her, even when she finally turned 18 she wanted something but she sees him with another woman (nothing serious ow flirted hard and he pushed away ow away) and she leaves Ireland to go to the states for school. But some of their enemies are targeting the woman in the family and has left Fiona wide open in the states. She almost got taken but she called LachIan and that man came running for his girl. Took few tries but he finally gives in and claims his woman, but they have to figure out who is causing these problems. Few tiny hiccups in their relationship but nothing to bad.  Both of them did pull away for 2.5 seconds. And like all Jane's books OTT spanking and rules. That weren't to bad in this one.

We also get a hint at the next guy. Idk how I feel yet about the girl if its her.

Tiny ow drama(girl from a club) no om drama, No cheating, Drama, Slight secondary charas, sexy times, virgin gal no manwhore

Ahhh, l'amour. C'est magnifique!

First of all, LOVE THIS STORY!!! I have been waiting to see Lachlan and Fiona get together since Nolan! Fiona turns 18 and ON HER BIRTHDAY, sees Lachlan with another woman. She decides that she's got to get out on her own, and heads to Boston University. Fiona will have freedom, but at least she'll be near her brother Tiernan. However, on the first day she's there she and her long-time friend from Ballyhock go out and Fiona is left in danger.
Lachlan drops everything to come to her and make certain she's safe, there's never been another woman for him and there never will be. They are cut off from the brotherhood of McCarthy Clan and have to make alliances with those they don't agree with on all things. But they have to overlook that in order to have security, because this enemy isn't playing by rules the Clan is familiar with.
I can't wait to see what Jane Henry does next! If you haven't read any of the Dangerous Doms series, you're really missing out! Check them out today

I love the Irish characters in this series and Fiona and Lachlan's story is so memorable and beautiful.
Lackland meets Fiona when she is a teenager and through the McCarthy Clan he is responsible for keeping her safe, but from a distance. On Fiona's 18th birthday life altering decisions are made and sets the pace of this story from Ballyhock Ireland to Boston.
This story contains unrequited love and deceit, as well as passion and trust.

YOU’RE BLOODY EVERYTHING TO ME

One thing I can usually say, Ms. Jane Henry rarely disappoints with her writing, bigger than life characters, and scenarios. What a fifth great story to this series, Dangerous Doms, and with it, you have the good, the bad, and the ugly. The story keeps the pages turning with a powerful, dominant man, Lachlan McCarthy, adopted into the family and loyal without a fault, and Fiona Hurston, sister of Sheena, rescued from Stone City. But from the moment that Lachlan and his men rescued the Hurston family, and he locked eyes on Fiona, there has been this invisible cord that has connected them---this is their story.

“Be patient, Fiona. Good things come to those who wait.”

Fiona has turned eighteen and feels like she needs changes in her life, a sense of not belonging, and also her feelings for Lachlan. But Lachlan seems aloof, and that bothers her, to the point that she needs something new, and that will include accepting the scholarship in Boston to attend college. Maybe out of sight will become out of mind, and she can move on with her life, believing that Lachlan and her will never become more than an acquaintance.

Ms. Jane' Henry's characters are powerful men, not without imperfections, and nothing that happens in her books are over the top. Her books are page-turners with plenty of mystery, suspense, danger, and action. Throw in a dominant man, Lachlan; he is adopted McCarthy, loyal through and through, and yet, he doesn’t feel like he can stake a claim on Fiona, although his heart tells him he should. Fiona may have just turned eighteen, but growing up in Stone City includes losing your innocence early in life—even if you are still a virgin. Watching the man you have loved for years treat you like you still a child hurts.

The plot of this story will bring two people together in unusual circumstances. It is life and death, and for her protection. Who is targeting the women of the McCarthy clan? How far will Lachlan go to keep Fiona safe? But can he protect her from himself? Will he listen to his Clan Chief, Keenan, and do what it takes to protect her?

“Keep her safe. Mark her as yours.”

The chemistry between Lachlan and Fiona sizzles off the pages, the passion and love between them are sworn worthy. The story isn’t an insta-love story; it is one that has been steeping over time, growing as the days, weeks, months, and years go by until it is inevitable and must come to fruition. I love the dominance of Lachlan, and yet he is also caring, helping Fiona see who she is, because he has been there and done that. Neither one innocent of the hardships and horrors of life. But is that enough for the future?

“I’d tell her to hold on,” she whispers. “That better days were coming. That soon, she’d be more loved than she’d ever think possible.”

“I think a part of you wanted to lose control. And a part of you wanted me to take it back. Claiming you makes you mine. It means that my sun rises with your needs and sets with your dreams. It means you fully become my everything as I’ve wanted. You were made to be mine.”

The story does depict scenes of violence, control, and discipline, and the sex scenes are erotic and consensual. I don’t know where this series will take us, and while there is no cliffhanger, I hope some characters mentioned may segue into the next story.

This couple was meant to be. Fiona has worshipped Lachlan from afar and Lachlan has desrired Fiona but kept his desire locked up tight. Fiona was just a young teen when they met, but as of now, she's reached the age of adulthood. The situation with Fiona becomes dangerous and Lachlan will do anything he can to keep her safe. This young couple face danger and their sexual awakening together.
Someone is a danger to the women of the McCarthy clan and will be protected by the men to the best of their ability. Fiona is learning that although Lachlan seemed unaffected by her, he was just fighting his urge to make her his, until he's ordered to protect her, claim her and mark her. Their life isn't easy but together, they can get through it and come out better for their trials. I love these Dangerous Doms of the Irish Mafia and the women they love. I am looking forward to Tiernan's story next, he's now part of the McCarthy clan and will get his woman soon.

I mostly enjoyed this book for the first 75%. There was some editing required and some understanding that this is fiction and has a right to be fantastical (which happened a lot).

The last 25% gave me a bit of whiplash and wrapped up all a bit weakly.

All up though, I thought that they were a cute couple and enjoyed that their love has been brewing for many years.

Come along for another Adventure in Jane Henry’s Dark Irish Mafia series. The McCarthy men are very old fashioned when it comes to Their women and Lachlan McCarty is no exception. Fiona is the sister to Sheena who is Married to Nolan McCarthy who is 3rd in line to the throne of the Clan and her Brothers are Tiernan who is in the Clan and Little Sam. Lachlan helped rescue Sheena’s younger siblings from their exsistance in Stone City. Fiona was just a very young teen when Her and Lachlan first locked eyes at each other. Kismet, Fate is right then and there for both of them. The angst they go through until Fiona reaches the age of 18 is off the charts! As is their chemistry together. The tale has some dark twists and turns and danger lurks right in front of them. From Bollyhock, Ireland to Boston MA the journey is fraught with feelings, hope, excitement, lust, lots of steam and of course love.
This is definitely one you won’t want to miss!
Absolutely went on the journey with these characters and I loved it and want more of them.
Fantastic Book!♥️

I think that Fiona might be my new favorite heroine in this series. She's definitely fiesty, sassy, and very strong. She's not about to let anyone forget she's there and she's going to do everything she can to make sure that everyone *cough*Lachlan*cough* knows that she's going to do what she wants to do.

I think that Lachlan is a very good man with questionable morals. At least, questionable by most standards. He has his own moral code that he strictly adheres to. I think that he's going to be good for Fiona. He won't tame her fire, but he will keep her from going overboard.

Absolutely fan-fucking-tastic. All the good stuff. Danger, sexy times, suspense, WTF's, and kick ass men taking care of their women.
It's a good read when the man is so dominant in a book that when he tells the heroine to relax even the reader does. 😳😊
There was a lot of build up and anticipation for Lachlan. Jane Henry did not disappoint. She brought her A game with this book.

I have a feeling, that this is some kind of series and you have to know the other characters before you read this book. I liked, that they were pretty much from the beginning into each other, but his constant dominant stuff grated on my nerves. Do this, do that, don't do this or I spank you. That was a bit much, she can have her own mind. All in all it wasn't that bad, but also it wasn't very good. At the end it all resolved itself too easy and to fast. First they are all very tight and then they don't seems to notice when the own guards change. Sorry, but not very believable, that was a bit to much in the end. And she was too young and I think she also acted like it.

Enough with the spanking🤦

I'm all about alpha males and kink but Lachlan was constantly whipping and spanking her for ultimately acting like a sheltered, 18yr old woman who's finally got some freedom. And then constantly made to feel like a child for it. But at the same time, now she's old enough for him to "claim her?". Skimmed most of the book starting around 50%. Thankfully it was free with KU. Wasn't a huge fan of the previous books in this series either.

Plot issues galore, but still OK

So, here's my dilemma. I enjoyed this book only when I could ignore the huge discrepancies in the plot lines, whether they are from the overall series or just the individual book. Ms. Henry finally almost has the character development down, but that's probably because she borrows the same personality from each main character of each book then changes them once they become secondary characters again.
A huge problem with this author is she writes about these supposedly complex characters as secondary characters in previous books, then forgets what she's written about them and sometimes even in the same book or chapter contradicts what she's written.
There's still quite a bit of grammar and punctuation editing needed in this book as well.
I didn't hate it, just think it still could be better.

Phenomenal Irish Mafia ROMANCE!
When author Jane Henry sets off to write a series, readers know that each episodic novel within said series will be as unique and exciting as the last – and perhaps more so. LACHLAN, the fifth in Ms. Henry’s “Dangerous Dom’s” series is not only unique and exciting, it is my absolute favorite of the series. Yes, I know I have said that about each of the standalone novels in the series, but each episode is marvelous, and the world Ms. Henry has created in this “Dangerous Dom’s” series is so vivid, that feeling bereft at the end of each story has become commonplace for me. I miss the green, the brogue, and those alpha men! Those who read the series in order have heard of both Lachlan and Fiona before, but their story becomes the focus in LACHLAN, and is everything and much more than I’d hoped! With all the feels that romance readers need, along with some laugh-out-loud and tear-inducing bits, LACHLAN by Jane Henry is one romance readers MUST NOT MISS! No dreamier Alpha head of household will one ever find than Lachlan, and no finer woman than the young Fiona could ever be his match. The characters are so well-developed, they and their brogue could walk right off the page, yet without the wit, wiles, and prose of indie author Jane Henry, I’m not convinced that they could have found the strength to withstand all they had to achieve their wonderous HEA. If you have not had the pleasure of reading any of the titles in author Jane Henry’s “Dangerous Dom’s” series, start with LACHLAN, and don’t be surprised if you feel compelled to go back and read the epic tales which preceded it! While each title is episodic in nature with heroes and heroines from the other novels playing a part in every plotline, each novel tells a different part of the clan’s story whilst focusing on one of the couples who make this amazing family so worthy of any reader’s time. I jumped at the opportunity to volunteer to read an early copy of LACHLAN and now submit this as my voluntary 5+STAR review. (It has earned so many more.) Get your copy of LACHLAN today! Happy pages! 😉

Lachlan has waited for five years for Fiona to be a woman, but he still feels that he has to keep his feelings from her and the family so that he will not hurt her and to protect himself from his brothers and their retribution if he follows his feelings and might hurt her. Has tried to ignore his feelings, but he has always protected her in one way or another and when she finds herself alone in Boston, MA and has no idea where her guard is or how to find her way back to her dorm room, Lachlan will not sit idle and let something happen to her. He finds his chance to step up and protect her as well as claim her, with the acceptance of the head of the family.

Fiona has known since she was old enough to realize what love is, that she was in love with Lachlan. Now that she is eighteen, she thought he would accept his feelings as well as hers and that he would spend more time with her, especially on her eighteenth birthday. She is disappointed that he seems to be just as distant when she sees him at her party and makes a rash decision that will put her in danger. However, she’s a smart girl and will help the family find the ones responsible for the current danger the family is facing.

I love Lachlan and he’s a great match for Fiona. This story had me feeling angsty with the way these two kept dancing around their feelings and kept refusing to realize they were made for each other. The family has mixed feelings about them being together, but they also have seen these two for the past five years and it shouldn’t have been a surprise to any of them. Ms. Henry has done a great job writing the characters of the McCarthy family and The Clan. The men are domineering, protective and loyal to The Clan. The women are sassy, strong and powerful with their men behind them. They are also fiercely protective of the family and the ones they love. I give this story a 5-star review and cannot wait for more in this series. I am loving it.

Lachlan is the fifth book in the Dangerous Doms series. It could stand alone, but some of the back story and other characters would make more sense if you read this series in order. (Side note, they’re all amazing and totally worth the read!) Lachlan has known that Fiona is his since the very first time they locked eyes, and now she’s finally of age. But when Fiona thinks Lachlan won’t do anything to claim her, she decides to go to school in Boston, hoping for some freedom. With danger around every corner and not sure who to trust, will Lachlan finally claim Fiona, body and heart, or will the danger strike too close?

I seriously have a book hangover right now! I’m both swooning so hard and shivering with delight over everything that happens with this book! I love that the sense of danger is almost like a slow burn. We, the readers, become so focused on the couple and wondering if they’ll both man up to their feelings with one another, that you miss the subtle cues that something else is going on! I also loved the surreality between the normal things 18 year olds do mixed with the realities of being connected to the family. It was twisted, perfect, and so well written! I also loved that while Fiona may be young age-wise, she’s gone through so much and is much more mature than Lachlan wants to give her credit for. I loved when her youth did shine through, though, her giggles and joy at life! Lachlan was perfect for her because he was able to keep her sweetness intact while she shifted from a girl in his mind into a woman. He’s so protective and while he’s confident in his duty, he only wants the best for Fiona, even if that means staying away. There’s so much loyalty, love, and the bond between them is so just undeniable! I think all of us readers have been dying for this story for the past few books, and this book absolutely did NOT disappoint! I fell in love with these characters, their passion, the danger they had to face, and I never wanted this book to end!

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "LACHLAN" I loved that Lachlan & Fiona get their story after five long years of protecting her since they brought Sheena's brothers and sister from the slums of Stone City Tiernan 16, baby Sam, Fiona 13.
Fiona has her 18th birthday celebration everyone there the only one she truly wants to see is Lachlan when she does he seem shirt and kind of angry she doesn't know why and ask why he bothered coming he gave her gift and said don't open until alone then turns and leaves.
Lachlan meets Tully & Boner at Craic for a drink in the back is the sex club where they end up a woman is pawing at him he gets angry the guts pull him away leaving he thinks he see's Fiona there she went to the club with Aisling and her friends but when she sees Lachlan with the woman she leaves hurt & in tears.
Fiona tells Nolan and Sheena she's decided to go to Boston University with Aisling doesn't feel like she belongs there anymore and cried herself out over Lachlan ge doesn't want her she thinks.
Fiona gets into trouble in Boston Lauchlan takes the McCarthy jet to get to her she needs protection her guards disappeared they go to the meet with Calum as Tiernan has been working with them on an alliance with McCarthy Clan in Ballyhock irs an auction so Keenan tells Lachlan to mark Fiona so no one will try to touch her.
Lachlan and Fiona have to return to Ballyhock because she's being targeted arriving home to there's an accident an explosion while driving to the mansion that's when they realize the threat is in Ballyhock not Boston they'll go on lockdown until they figure out whose after them.
This one book you don't want to miss reading so much excitement its Fiona who realises who their after so much take place you can't out this book down until finished reading I so looked forward to their story loved every minute I'd it defintely well worth the read I sooo can't wait for next book "A TIERNAN'S STORY"

Terrific Story & Narration🎧 Captivating & Intense!

Lachlan
Dangerous Doms, Book 5
By: Jane Henry
Narrated by: Kai Kennicott, Wen Ross

Jane Henry continues to wow me with another amazing “Dangerous Doms” novel. I am loving this series, the characters, their stories and the dynamics of their world. Each book features a different member of the McCarthy clan in Ballyhock Ireland and this book is Lachlan and Fiona’s story. Lachlan has been protective of Fiona ever since she came to live with the McCarthys, he has a thing for her but is being respectful and stays away. Fiona has been crushing on him, since she has not gotten any where with Lachlan she decides to accept a scholarship and go to school in Boston. Since the McCarthy clan protects what is theirs they set up protection for her with the Boston , but something goes haywire and she has a close call with danger. Lachlan jets off to Boston to keep her safe, Keenan orders him to mark her so the Chief of the Boston mob sees she is not available. This book keeps you on your toes and takes you to the edge of your seat at times, the story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, angst, mystery, twists and turns, thrilling and suspenseful moments, heartfelt and emotional moments and some hot romance. Jane Henry, thank you for another awesome story and the thrilling and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the terrific narration, Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott continue to bring these characters to life, giving each their own distinct voice and personality. The do an awesome job portraying the characters, grasping each persona, taking the role and playing it with perfection, making it believable and sounding just as I picture them to sound, Irish accent and all. They set the perfect tone for the story, captures all the character’s emotions and projects them into their performance. They are entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen!

Once again we join the McCarthy family at Ballyhock for Lachlan and Fiona’s
story. This book by Jane Henry was addictive.I enjoyed the dynamics between
Lachlan and Fiona.Their relationship was certainly complex. The internal dialogue of both characters was built amongst a background of danger.Their emotions were stripped bare at times, leaving them open to heartache.

Fiona thought that she was invisible to Lachlan. She had loved him from the time he had rescued her from the hovel she called home.Fiona had never really given up on having a relationship with Lachlan. She knew that she would need to be patient, but it was not in her nature. When Lachlan realized the danger that Fiona was in, he finally accepted that she would be his.He would follow the clan tradition and claim her.

What a man Lachlan had become.Admired by his fellow clan members, and feared by his enemies. I felt sorry for Fiona as she built a wall around her heart .She never felt good enough for Lachlan. She struggled with the concept of living with a Mafia family. She was left floundering with no anchor.Fiona had a feisty side and would challenge Lachlan just to get a reaction. She got much more than she bargained for when he took his belt off.

This book made me sigh with pure bliss. It had a exciting build up with good character development. What set this book apart was the way Lachlan and Fiona’s relationship evolved overtime. The pivotal moment came when they both stopped fighting their feelings for one another. The love between them was so obvious ,but how they both struggled.I’m already impatiently waiting for the chapter in this wonderful series.

Lachlan and Fiona had been taken by the McCarthy Family as children
Lachlan had never forgotten the day he had gone to Stone City to help rescue a young girl, her older brother and their baby bother all covered in filth and living in destitution and yet she was full of fight and attitude and he had felt his heart melt for the first time, telling him that she was his…
Fiona had been in love with Lachlan since she had been a young girl and as she had grown, he had been her guard and had cared for her safety, taught her to drive and who she had come to when she had problems or just wanted someone to talk to.
When her life had been in danger in Boston as she had started her University course, he had rushed out to keep her safe and had been thrown into a situation non could have ever imagined. Who would have thought that the threat was so much closer to home than anyone could ever have believed?
As the men of the McCarthy Clan so used to caring for those in their care and protecting the women, they love and blown away when one of their female family are totally blown away when Fiona is able to see the wood for the trees and who the true instigator of their demise is!!
This has to be my most favourite of all the books in this series and this is saying a lot as all the others have been fantastic. This totally blew me away and as always the characters and the plot were truly wonderful.
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

I was so looking forward to Lachlan and Fiona’s story! I was hoping it would happen after seeing them meet and interact in Nolan. Fiona is 18 now, and to her it means Lachlan shouldn’t view her as a child anymore, but to him it’s even more of a reason to stay hands-off. I knew there would be conflict in that, but I’m glad Lachlan understood pretty quickly (thankfully Fiona gave him an earful about it) that keeping his distance wasn’t the right thing to do. It hurt her more than it helped her, and she made him realize that early on.

The outside threat was nebulous and harder to follow than in previous books, but I’m not here for the danger (overall), I’m here for the romance! Also I made sure to picture Lachlan as this hunk on the cover, since he is younger than other Clan members at about 23 years old. Even though he’s young, he’s a natural-born leader and high-ranking member in the Clan who will stop at nothing to protect Fiona, whether in the way her family would ultimately want or not. Luckily, Keenan was on his side from the beginning.

I’m thinking the next book will be about Tiernan and Aisling, which will be interesting since neither of them grew up totally in the Clan, Tiernan only having joined the finishing school when he was 16 or so. Aisling probably has no idea what the Clan really does, so that should be interesting.

I love the McCarthy men and the lengths they will go to for their loves, and Lachlan was no different! I think besides Nolan, I like his and Fiona’s story best as they are younger but have had to mature at a young age.

Book 5 in this series, they are best read in order as they are interconnected, but can be read as a standalone.

Lachlan has had a thing for Fiona every since she was rescued with the rest of her family (in a previous book). Now she has just turned 18, no longer a child, no longer out of bounds but a woman in her own right, one he fights to stay away from.

The McCarthy family throw a party for her 18th birthday, all are there, including Lachlan, who she is more than attracted to, and she is hoping that now she is 18 he will do something about it. He gives her a present and insists she opens it away from her party. Turns out to be a gold locket with her inside, which she wears from then on. But she decides to visit the family 'club' with her friend, where she sees Lachlan with another woman. She decides its time to leave and go to Uni in Boston, where she can be near her brother, and away from Lachlan.

But it seems the McCarthy's have enemies in Boston and Fiona is put in danger. Lachlan drops everything and flies out to make sure she is safe and protected from everyone but him. But they are in Boston and on their own and must make alliances with the Boston mafia, which means he must make Fiona his, which has consequences in the McCarthy family.

I loved Lachlan and Fiona's connection, it was sizzling hot, and Lachlan become very dominant, possessive and protective of Fiona, but she has a fiesty nature, not easily submissive and Lachlan found he had to punish her to bring her in line, on several occasions, for her own good.

Finally!!! Ever since I read Nolan (book 3) I couldn’t wait to get to Lachlan and Fiona’s story. You could tell there was definite connection between them. For 5 years Lachlan protected her and kept her safe, but he always felt something deep for her. Now that she’s 18 he knows he can have her, but he also wants to let her live and experience life.
When Fiona sees something that breaks her heart she makes her mind up it’s time to leave Ireland and go to Boston for college. But Lachlan isn’t about to just let her go off alone, and when the dangers follow her and put her life at risk Lachlan knows what he must do.
Lachlan was absolutely the best. He was willing to drop everything and do anything to keep Fiona safe. He knew for years she was meant to be his. These two had an immediate connection and it only grew stronger over the years. They went from friends to lovers and was it was beautiful to see. He had such a fierce protectiveness over Fiona, that literally had me swooning!
It was great to see Tiernan grow from a teenager to a young man and I’m excited to read his story next. And I absolutely adore sweet Mauve! I love how Jane writes the matriarch in her books. They’re always such strong women who adore their kids and are so welcoming to everyone who enters their family.
This was hands down my favorite in the series and was definitely worth the wait and excitement! Lachlan and Fiona are my favorite couple in the McCarthy series!

Finally we get the story of Lachlan and sweet little Fiona, well I say sweet...

Fiona now all grown up still has the biggest crush on Lachlan. But after Lachlan changes from the man she knew him to be on her birthday, she quickly decides to move to Boston. Trying to find her place in the world, she soon finds she still needs Lachlan.

This was better than I expected it to be, but then again, why am I surprised when we’re talking about Jane Henry here. We’ve been teased about this relationship in the previous book, however Fiona was still quite young then. In this book we get to have a little time-skip of I believe 6 years? Fiona is grown up, but we do have a bit of an age gap here, so if that’s not your thing then I don’t suggest reading this.

The relationship between these 2 was so sweet, yet at the same time very steamy. They didn’t spend too much time denying each other, yet I did at times doubt along with Fiona.
Storyline, great! We get a few glimpses here and there of the other couples, but not so much that it took away from Fiona and Lachlan’s story.

All in all, great book and definitely worth a read. Small mention though, it is a standalone, but I do recommend reading the previous books, or at the least book 4 in the dangerous doms world to really fully understand how we got here.

Lachlan is the fourth book of the Dangerous Doms – A Dark Irish Mafia Romance, yet it reads as a standalone.
Ms. Jane Henry has done it again. This book is full of kinky passion, danger, secrets, and betrayal.
Lachlan is a high-ranking soldier in the McCathy Clan, as well a blood member. He is dealing with his love for Fiona and his position with the family. He is broody, a sexy dominate inside and out of the bedroom, and loyal.

Fiona is the younger sister of Sheena, who is married to Nolan of the McCarthy brothers. She is a strong-willed woman, with a quick-witted mind, loves Lachlan and fears he will never see her as a woman. She leaves Ireland to attend college in Boston. Once Fiona arrives in Boston, her life is in danger. The best person to protect her from the unseen enemy is Lachlan.
From the first chapter I became invested in these two realistic and fully developed characters. Ms. Henry has a way of writing that reader feels they are part of the story. Feeling all the emotions the characters feel, you can smell the salt air from the ocean. This is a must read!

I received a complimentary copy of this book and happy to leave a review.

Alpha dominance meets a feisty fearless submissive in this 5-Star romantic mafia suspense!

Some chapters rushed at the end!

This is my first book by this author. Anyone who knows me & my reading preferences, knows I love anything and everything about Ireland and especially set in Ireland! This book had good descriptions of areas of Ireland, great characters and a really decent storyline. So why 2.5 stars you ask? Because instead of continuing on with a good story she rushed the last couple of chapters to wrap up this book. If you have a decent story that captivates readers as this did it's like we're being cheated to have everything just wam bam thank you man the end! This was a really good story until we went fast forward to the finish line! Imo give the conclusion, the wrap up the finale the same considerations you do the beginning that captures we the readers attention. To speed through the climaxes to end this book is an injustice to we the readers! We deserve a great beginning, middle and end no matter the word count! The ending and HEA are just as important, maybe more so than the beginning! I mean by the middle to end of a book, we've fallen in love with the characters, we're invested in their fictional lives and hea! Stay the course throughout the book, keep it even and this book could have been a 4 or 5 star read instead of 2.5!

Lachlan
Dangerous Doms 5
By Jane Henry
Narrated by Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross

Swoon! This is my favorite so far of the Dangerous Doms. I have been waiting for Fiona and Lachlan's story and Jane Henry delivered! Fiona was in her early teens when we saw her in Nolan's book, and there was budding feelings then. Now on her 18th birthday she sees Lachlan with another woman, and she decides go to Boston, separating herself from him and beginning her independence. But danger looms, and who will come to her rescue? Henry is a master at romantic suspense and she creates an atmosphere that keeps us on the edge while our couple grows closer. Fiona is a spitfire, and I love her energy. She isn't sitting still and is not afraid to say it like it is. Lachlan is the alpha protector, holding back his feelings until he can't any longer and he is the man of her dreams. Pick this one up, you will get to see all McCarthy's, working together to protect what is theirs. This is a fabulous addition to the series.

Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross continue their narration of this incredible series. The two show their versatility with their Irish accents and their talent keeping voices consistent from book to book. It's full of their real chemistry and their performance enjoyable.
