Raven Falls #2

Unbearable Temptation

Rate this book
Buried under the weight of his role as Alpha, Nate will do anything to find his missing shifters, even if it means babysitting a sassy eyewitness who has an unhealthy obsession with pink--and sugar.

Everything in Rainy's life is finally going according to plan. Her bakery is flourishing, and there's nothing but blue skies and cupcakes ahead--until she witnesses a feathered half-man, half-monster being kidnapped from the alley behind her shop.

Thrust into a shadowy world of supernatural creatures and curses, all Rainy wants to do is hide in her bakery with a bowl of cake batter. She definitely does NOT want to spend her days drooling over the sexy shifter tasked with her protection... right?

Nate has a lot resting on his shoulders: the safety of his clan, a tiny daughter still learning to use her claws, and a council of bloodthirsty Alphas at his throat--not to mention the mountain of paperwork threatening to bury him alive. The last thing he needs is a feisty blonde forcing him to wear a pink apron and bake tarts. But as clan Alpha, her safety is his responsibility... at least that's what his bear tells him every time she looks in his direction.

The sugar-hating grouch is everything Rainy doesn't want. But there's something about Nate that drives her crazy in all the best ways. Can her heart resist the bear--or will the two of them embrace the temptation?

Another lovely book. The world drama gets more serious and much mayhem, death, and dismemberment ensues. But at the same time, I laughed and enjoyed this.

I don’t like Nate as much as Jack. He has major trust issues and is very shut down. But I still enjoyed his relationship with Rainy a LOT.

For whatever reason, I didn’t picture Rainy to be a skinny blonde! In my mind she’s a voluptuous black woman. She’s a baker and has an ebullient personality and she is described as having great hips and jiggly boobs and a butt. But also described as willowy. It threw me off.

No OW/OM. The hero is long divorced and neither have been with anyone in the near past.

A grouchy hero and a full of sunshine heroine? Yep it worked! I really like O'Leary's take on the characters relationships. I'm truly enjoying this series, so on to the next one.

Three stars to feel fair but two stars 🌟 in my heart.

I made it to chapter six and I had to quit.
Six chapters and not only did I not like with the H or the h but
I honestly wouldn’t have cared if everyone had suddenly got killed off in a fiery crash or something. I figured it was time to quit.

The lead male wasn’t a “Hero” in the slightest . He was a grouchy d nugget, who seemed to treat everything and everyone like they were just yet another inconvenience on a list that was already overly full of them. He was unpleasant and uninteresting. Nothing about him was appealing n the slightest, especially if that is his unappealing face on the cover. I don’t understand stories where the make love interest is a jack hole and a jerk and yet we’re just suffer along trying to find a reason to like him until he grows up or grows a heart.
He lost me when his second in command is man handling the heroine and not only dies he not seem to care ,but all he can think is how he’d rather be in bed right then. WTH?!?!?
Dude, can be rough and tough and makes grown men want to set themselves with a look but unless she’s done something to truly deserve it he treats women with respect. He sure as hell doesn’t have to have his arm twisted or be emotionally blackmailed to want to keep her safe. Especially if she’s supposed to end up being his fated mate . BS!
And when Rainy is trying to stand up for herself he calls her having a tantrum . WTF?
What because she doesn’t like you two jerks coming in and ordering her around after she’s attacked in a alleyway ?
Yeah,no.
Thing is while Nate is an unlikeable d bag for me ,Rainy wasn’t much better.
Why ? For me she started out kinda cool and interesting line and excited about her new chocolate creations in her bakery kitchen but then all we see is her on the defensive with alpha hole Nate That’s it really, barking at Nate in vain ,him treating her feelings and thoughts like nothing but useless annoying nagging/yammering grabbing her and putting her rudely in her room because he thought she fo to bed and no bother him.
Ugh.
And the whole thing about islands and fighting and generations of a witches curse ?
Yeah, that wasn’t even slightly believable.
Two stars ⭐️ based on enjoyment but three in an effort to be fair.
To sum, unlikeable MC’s and uninteresting plot that failed to spark any interest for me

Unbearable Temptation: A Cursed Romance
A Raven Falls Cursed Romance
By R. O'Leary

Nate is ALL Alpha, yes he wishes for easier days where he wasn't worried all the time. When he was looking for Louisa he went to the Rainbow Bakery the last place she was seen to talk to the owner. When he walked in and he laid eyes on the smiling blond baker he felt like someone had smacked him in the face with a frying pan.
Oh, fudgesicles! Alice is so sweet she doesn't even curse. But she is exactly what mate needed in a mate.
This book had it all from great drama, wonderful sexual content, and everything in between.
This being the 2nd book in the series I am already falling in love with the characters. We were introduced to Nate and his daughter Abby in book one so I was looking forward to Nate's book. I was happy when I saw HIS book was next, and I was NOT disappointed. The parts with Abby pulled at my heart (would love a book about HER when she finds her Mate).

Monster porn with some depth to keep me going :-)

When it comes to R. O‘Leary you get what you expected and I like that about her books.
It is Monster porn with some plot around it, some giddy moments and enough depths to the characters to keep me picking up her books again and again.

This one surprised me with a very nicly done connection between the two main characters and of course a capable women in the lead.
Rainy had life and the means to support herself unlike Louisa in the last book and I really liked that she fought for her right to keep the bakery going.

Over all a nice book which kept me entertaint through out the whole book, made me giggle a few times and most importantly gave me some phrases to think about.

„You can‘t let that frustration fester, or you’re going to resent your people.” She glared at the shadows around her. She knew exactly what that felt like. “You need to take care of yourself so that you can take care of them. Take a bath, eat some chocolate, whatever it takes. Make yourself take a day off.”

As someone who works in a medical profession I felt that down to my bones!

I’m in love with this series

I loved this book just as I loved the first and I’m definitely reading the whole series.

This story is for Nate and Rainy the baker. The story follows along the same lines as the first book. We are looking for the bad guys that are taking the shifter and humans. You could read it as a stand alone I guess but I wouldn’t recommend it. The first book really made me love all the characters and to hear all their story’s is what a good series is about.

I loved all the parts of Nates grouchy grumpiness and all the ways Rainy is full of happy bubbly-ness. I liked that she stood up to Nate and gave him every sassy piece of her mind and really challenged him.

The sexy time scenes are sweet and the tension between them is oh so very good. Abby is still my favorite little hellion but she had some good one liners that brought me to tears.

The story moves along quickly at a good pace I never had to skim any pages I had to know what was going to happen next. The third book is about Alice and her tall wolfie mate and I’m all about that

Depresso Espresso find his Steadfast Sunshine

Yeah, Nate is a walking advertisement for anxiety and depression. Poor baby has a panic attack on the way home and has to pull over for a quick bear-stroll through the forest. He needs a wife (don’t we all) to lift the burden of an entire clan of shifters on his Alpha shoulders. To0 bad he’s an emotionally stunted, severally overextended single father with trust issues.

Don’t you fret! Fate throws Rainy (a bit violently) into his path. Quite the opposite of her name, this local entrepreneur bring much needed light and perspective into Nate’s world. As a witness to the ongoing supernatural kidnapping, she is brought into the fold for protection as the clan takes on the FBI division that is hunting them.

Their story is tender and passionate. This series gets better and better. She is bossy with a smile, reminding me of Margo from The Magicians in her more feisty moments. He is a walking sigh! Not an aggressively possessive alpha. He’s the strong and to-the-point type. Kind of like Geralt in The Witcher. Yum!

Rainy witnessed Conor’s kidnapping, and then she ran and hide in her bakery, until grumpy Nate showed up looking for answers.
She didn’t know, but now she was in danger, and has she helped save Louisa (book 1), Nate and the pack are indebted to her.
So, she goes to live with the pack, so they can protect her and then she brings grumpy Nate with her to the bakery. For protection 🤫.
Have you ever imagined a grumpy man in a bakery cleaning and Roling dough? No? Well, that was fun!

I’m gonna be completely honest, I enjoy this book, it was a good book. But very predictable. Which I think I’m bored of, maybe I need to read a thriller or something to shock me… mood reader things 🤷‍♀️
Back to the book. I also didn’t feel the chemistry between the two. I get they were perfect for each other. But I didn’t feel it…
The plot was okay I guess, a bit dark, a pinch of mystery. But predictable…
So… I liked it, but didn’t love it..

The growly Alpha meets his match

Serving as the Alpha to a clan of quirky, misfit supernaturals is trying. Add in being a single dad to a precocious 5 year old bear shifter and a straight jacket seems inevitable. Nate takes all this on his shoulders not letting anyone in or trusting. Bakery owner Rainy has her own crosses to bear but is determined to see and enjoy the good in life. She calls Nate on his surliness and helps him find balance. Their chemistry is explosive and despite his misgivings, they're tearing up the sheets. Thrown headfirst into the supernatural world, she proves more than up to the task. When the clan's enemies kidnap his mate and daughter, there is nothing he won't do to get them back. I love this series!

Good story..

I love shifter romance and this was definitely a good one. There sometimes seems to be confusion when reading, I would like more world building. I did notice a difference in how these shifters are compared to others. Usually shifters all have good sense of smell and hearing, when in a pack they are communicate mentally together. Also, they seem to just be able to shift into an animal. They don’t seem to have anything extra. I guess that throws me off a bit.

Overall, I enjoyed the storyline. I loved the LOL moments and puns. I would like more details into the MCs. Look forward to the next book!

3.5 ⭐️ 1.75🌶 Okay so i dont know how I feel about this book. The plot is super good and has really great action packed scenes and has decent spice but the way the characters speak is so cringey at times. Like yeah it’s funny and i know obviously all authors are planning out the conversations between characters but in this one you just feel the author setting up Conversations to give super cringey lines. Like “cake makes everything better” and she makes the characters too immature at times like they are going though something horrible but at the sound of cake they perk back up. But it is funny at times and it is a fun story line. I enjoyed my time but I wouldn’t want to re read this book.

Still not a huge fan of second or third person writing (I’m not 100% sure of the terminology so please forgive me if I got that wrong) but I did enjoy the storyline of book one so though I’d give book two a try.
I loved Nate & little Abby. Having Jack around was awesome too but I won’t be reading any further into the series.
I found my focus wandering.
The ongoing story has a lot potential, I liked the characters and their relationships but my brain just couldn’t get past it not being from a 1st person perspective.
Definitely a me issue not an author issue.

Not at good

I loved the first book in this series, so I was disappointed when this one wasn't as good. The MMC was overly grumpy/untrustworthy. The FMC wakes up from almost dying, and he lectures her. Not worships her, and then they sit and talk like adults.
Also, the government is after them and they just stay in the same little town and hope they don't get attacked in the daylight? That makes zero sense!
*This book is rated R. The F word is used more than once. There are detailed spice scenes. There is violence/torture but it isn't graphic.

Alpha Bear

A good continuation in the series as some mysteries close and others open up. Some families are not perfect , some families are messy and unlikely yet they meld to perfection with their whit and love of one another. This is not about perfect love in any way but about discovering what is perfect for each family, clan, and individual. I recommend this series for if hour looking for an edgy ROM com.

This was so good. Bear-y sweet, fun and entertaining.
I love good communication between couples in books and Rainy & Nate definitely had that going for them. And I’m a sucker for the single parent trope. At least when the kid/s are fleshed out and a part of the story too. And Abby was absolutely adorable. The father daughter relationship between her and Nate was so sweet. And Rainy just fit perfectly into their little family.

Abby & Owen

Unbearable Temptation is book two in the series Raven Falls Cursed Romances by author R. O’Leary. Bear-y intriguing!! :) This tale is full of all the right stuff- action, suspense, bits of drama and some very nice steamy parts.
Anywho, there’s something out there and the supes need to find out what before another one of their own goes missing. And when they discover who it is - let me tell you something it’s going to be messy.
Enjoy!!

Unbearable Temptation

I can't wait to see who is behind the selling of the shifters. I'm hoping they can bring Connor back to normal so Nate can have some peace of mind. I'm glad he finally accepted that Rainy was his mate and it didn't matter if she couldn't have kids. Abby loved Rainy like a mother so Nate had his happily ever after.

I have no shame in rating this 5 stars, this shit was GOOD. Ignore the title and cover, because this series is actually amazing. This one in particular was so much better than the first. The classic grumpy sunshine trope with a dash of I hate everyone but you. AND HE’S A SINGLE DAD. Plus quirky side characters, a dash of mystery and big ol plot twists. THIS SERIES IS SO GOOD.

This one got bumped up to a 5 purely because of this line, "Hopefully they were ready to make that feeling a little bigger."

Nate and Rainy were very different from Jack and Louisa. It didn't feel like a cut and paste of same characters, slightly different story.

The story from the first book has evolved, and I'm curious how it will continue to do so.

Alpha bosshole, sunny female character with a lot a sugar !
Nate is pretty perfect, trust issues aside but so understandable... Great father even if he doesn't know it!
Rainy is nothing like her name except for the rainbow🌈 that come afterwards ! Traumatizing people with too much sugar has to be a thing 🙄

Love them 💕

Shout out to Abby baby 🐻

Nate & Rainy

So many surprises and unexpected twists. I’m really enjoying this series! So much laughter despite all the seriousness going on.

Nate is so grumpy, he really needed the sunshine that is Rainy. I totally enjoyed their story! I’m happy to see them get their happily ever after. So good!

2 Books in, and I'm Hooked

The heroines of both books are irreverent, funny, and fearless (well, most of the time, anyway.) They manage to pull the rugs out from under the feet/paws of the big scary shifters until those males are off-kilter most of the time. I really enjoyed both stories.

Like chips

At the risk of repeating my review of the first book, this book is like snack food. not too dense, but enjoyable. not really on my reread list, but that more because I plowed through it in a couple hours.

would make a good plane book.

I honestly can't get enough of theses characters.

I really appreciate the banter as well as the little sneaks we get of what's going on with other future main characters.
I need an Alice book!!!!!
