Loved this book!!
Devin was such a sweetheart (with a filthy mind and mouth to go with)
After a abusive relationship sends Veronica to her brother's door leaving Devin feeling like he's died and gone to heaven...! Loved at First sight but each other is oblivious to the mutual attraction.... I won't spoil the ending you can read and find out!

.This is Veronica and Devin's story, I enjoyed that it parallels Gunner and Dani's story, because you get to have a better insight of what was going on in their relationship.

Veronica is a strong a feisty women, and they way she was able to get away from her ex was amazing. It took guts and strength for her to do what she needed to do. Devin is just a sweet character and the friend you would want to have on your side no matter what is going on. Even for all his fear and self doubt he had for himself, his friends and family that was not only will stand up with him but willing to set him straight in a heart beat.

I love this story and having the chance to revisit some of the characters from the series.

Veronica/Vee and her young daughter live with her brother, a pro football quarterback after she go of an abusive marriage. She has a major crush on her brother’s best friend aa d fellow football player, Devin, who spends a lot of time at her brother’s place and her daughter loves him too but he Devin never appears to be interested in her. However, Devin secretly likes her too but he thinks he is too much like his jailed biological father who is a violent drug dealing con artist even though he was adopted and raised by a good family after his mother died. Devin is also afraid Veronica’s brother would not approve of them having a relationship. Will Veronica and Devin finally connect and realize they both have feelings for each other? Will Devin finally realize he is not like his biological father who has violent tendencies and he deserves a HEA.

I give this story 4.5 stars. I enjoyed this shorter story about Veronica who had endured an abusive relationship and came out a stronger person and Devin who had a rough start in life and also came out a better person than his biological father. The author did a great job helping you understand why they acted the way they did and understand how their relationship developed. The epilogue was a great conclusion to their story.

I LOVE THIS SERIES! This book five in the Sinfully Tempting series is a captivating and thrilling page turner! The story line is fast pace, exciting, engaging, emotionally deep, and well written. It is packed with drama, intrigue, angst, twists and turns, and emotional obstacles and ups and downs. Believable characters; the chemistry between them is off the charts. Definitely recommended!

I’m a huge fan of sports romances so I was really looking forward to reading this book. Not only is it a football romance, it’s also a delicious friends to lovers, brother’s best friend romance as well. Veronica escaped an abusive relationship and has the ex husband to prove it. She’s a single mom, working hard at finding happiness. She is secretly in love with her brother’s best friend and teammate Devin.
Devin is the sweetest man. He too is in love with Veronica but is afraid that he’s not good enough for her. He also loves Joselyn her daughter, with all his heart and wants nothing more than to be a father to the little girl.
Fearful of his best friend’s reaction he doesn’t make a move until not doing anything is no longer possible.
They give into their feelings and attraction and get their much deserved happily ever after.

Not as over the top as I expected as both Devin and Veronica had been harboring a secret obsession with each other for years.
Pregnant and battered, Veronica ran to her brother’s home as she fled from her abusive ex. Her current life had stabilized with the addition of her adorable daughter and under the protection of Gunner and his bestie, Devin.
I liked the way everyone knew that Devin and Veronica were into each other except for her loving protective brother and the couple themselves. The dual POVs added insight to their churning feelings for each other which culminated in steamy scenes.
I didn’t care for Devin’s insecurities that led to him pushing Veronica away at a critical time. A bit of violent drama with Veronica’s ex baby daddy, with Devin turning out to be a worthy protector at the end.

Wonderful love story.
Awh this is a sweet love story of Veronica & her daughter who for the last 3 yrs has been living with her brother Gunner after escaping from her violent ex-husband. Over the years she has fallen in love with her brothers best friend Devin who is on the same football team so is over at the house quite a lot but she has no idea that he feels the same but doesn't act on it because of who she is he as loves her daughter Joselyn since she was born & she loves him too. Everybody on the team, friends & both their family's know how the feel about each other the only ones who can't see what's so obvious is Veronica, Devon & Gunner. I loved this story so much I couldn't put it down but then didn't want it to end. It has laughs, cuteness overload with Joselyn, tears, drama when her ex-husband tries to hurt her again & fear but most of all lots of love.

Good for each other
This book is about Veronica and Devin. Veronica and her daughter are staying with her brother Gunner after a bad break-up. He’s a pro football player, and Devin is his best friend. Devin and Veronica are friends by association, and he’s been a great support for her during this tough time as well.
They are both broken in their own way, but they see something in each other – though they don’t know it! There are some feelings harboured there, but neither will do anything about it initially. Their strength and tenacity is what holds them together. Will their doubts and bad experiences prevent them from pursuing something that could be great with each other? Or will that just bring them closer, and realise that they’re meant to be?

I absolutely loved reading this book. The characters were hilarious and they were real in every way possible. Alexia Chase just gets better and better with her writing style. The characters have a depth that you expect by an author of this caliber.

Veronica has had a hard life with her husband and the best thing that came out of the marriage was her daughter. Devin is a team mate of Veronica's brother and so falls into the no go zone for either one of them, but there comes a time when they can no longer hold off on their attraction towards each other. They fight as much as they can but then their passions take over. What follows is one hot romance and a happily ever after that wont leave you feeling disappointed.

Goodness, I really liked this book. The action takes place during the time that Gunner and Dani we’re getting their act together, Devin has always been attracted to Veronica, Gunners sister but kept his feelings hidden, she’s divorced with a child and after imbibing a little too much one evening, she lets her guard down. Devin is a real gent but they both know what they want and go after it, the only problem is that her ex husband has issues and is more than happy to cause problems. Both Devin and Veronica have deep seated emotional scars that need healing. A lovely story of hope and happiness.

I love single mom romances and this just hit my heart right where it needed. Veronica has been through a lot and I love how she had Devin there to help. Their chemistry is undeniable. The story touches upon some heartfelt themes when it comes to dealing with your past and family and them being an interracial relationship. But it doesn't overpower the story and I love the growth the characters go through. It's sweet, heartfelt, and utterly sexy! There's some hard truths but also lightheartedness and the scorching steamy scenes.

Veronica is sassy, full of spunk and she is a single mom who has made the best of a tough situation. Devin is all heart and so caring as friend and lover. I couldn’t get enough of this couple. The characters are great, love how this series tends to all be done at the same time just from different POV. The siblings of Gunnar and Veronica are hilarious with ripping remarks but the ever loving support of family.

I loved that Veronica is a single mother but felt for what she went through with her ex. I also liked that Devin was her brothers best friend. I loved these they both had feelings for each other and this is them figuring out how to make it together. These two were both great and I enjoyed reading about them.

This is my first time reading something by this author. This was such a sweet and at times funny story and so full of emotion. Veronica and Devin were such a great couple and had wonderful chemistry. A beautifully written story that will touch your heart. I really enjoyed it. I will be looking for more of books of this author to read!

This is the sixth book in this series by this author and what an amazing read. This is the story of Veronica and Devin, these two are such a lovely couple together, you just fall in love with them from the start. This is a single mom romance read in this series. This book is so full of emotions, romance and the determination to have a happy ending. This book will have you gripped from start to finish. I really loved this story with these characters. I absolutely love this series of books and can't wait to read more. This is a fantastic addition to this series by this author.

Fantastically crafted story and characters

The Defender is the fifth book in the A Sinfully Tempting series and is the story of Devin Grant and Veronica Sinclair. This is a story that will pull at your heart with two characters that both struggle with all the emotional baggage that they drag around with therm. I am not going to lie as there were a few times where i had to reach for a tissue to blot up the tears. Alexia Chase's writing is spot on with this story as it is well crafted and has characters that are nicely defined and have depth and emotion to them. When Devin and Vee finally do get together it is not completely smooth but it is well worth the journey to their HEA. This is a wonderful read and a great addition to this sports romance series.

This is the fifth book in this intriguing series and is Devin and Veronica’s story. Veronica is divorced from an abusive and controlling husband and is starting over with her daughter. These characters are both carrying emotional baggage on their shoulders, and with Devin’s insecurities, he thinks he is not good enough for Veronica. The chemistry between these two is intense and undeniable, but can these two move on from friends / lovers? This is a great addition to this amazing series and this story is filled with emotions, family, shenanigans, and love, which all leads to an all-consuming page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I recommend.

Beautiful, heartfelt, sensitive, gorgeous story.

I fell for Devin when he stuck up for Vee in The Contract but in this book he makes all your parts melt. Vee is unbelievably strong and you just want her to win!!

This story made me laugh, cry and want to go into the book to cause bodily harm (and I'm not generally a violent person). It also made me want to hug the main characters, shake them and give them some words of wisdom.

Well done Chase for another fabulous tale which kept me hooked from page one to the last...

Devin and Veronica are a great couple.

I am slowly reading my way around all of Alexia’s tempting series books. This one is Devin ( gunners best friend from another book) and Veronica ( gunners sister)they have feelings for each other but don’t act on them. Go figure but communication is not their top priority! Confusion, bit of drama, a gorgeous little girl, humour and some serious steam are all in this book. Off to read the next one. Enjoyed very much.
