This is the 5th book I've read written by Alyssa Lynn; I can’t wait to read more of her books.

A cute short story about Curby’s life with a military soldier until one day when he tells him he’s leaving for a while.

Some people have dogs and/or cats as pets, think they own them and treat them as if they were property. If you are one of those people, this short story is not for you. Some people have dogs and/or cats as companions, they share their homes with them and treat them as they would any human family member. I’m one of these people. If you are one of these people, then this short story is for you.

This is the story of a Golden Retriever, Curby, and the love he has for his human, Roxy. In it he shares with us how his entire world revolve around Roxy, and he shares with us his grief and suffering over her loss. He doesn’t tell us how she died because no one ever told him, but his mourning for her loss is powerful. One could speculate about how she died. Considering the brief period involved, one gets the impression that it was one of those infamous training accidents. That doesn’t matter. What matters is that he felt her loss and mourned her loss just as we would another human family member or another human that we truly cared about. Over the years I have had many furry companions that have died, and I still mourn their passing until this very day.

Curby is a very short, but insightful story from the POV of a devoted K-9 who is faced with the loss of his beloved human. The story shows readers Curby's dedication to pleasing his owner and of his excitement every day when she returns from doing her "human things". The descriptions were precisely how I would expect a dog to feel when left behind, waiting at home, and then heading to the park. Unfortunately, we also get to feel that gut-wrenching pain when Roxy doesn't return with her unit and the devastating and emotional impact it has on Curby as her K-9 companion, and Brock, the man who obviously loved Roxy too. This one definitely requires tissues, so be prepared to cry lots ugly tears.

This was an adorable short story. The whole story is from the dog's view, and I couldn't be more in love. It was a quick read, and when I finished the last couple chapters one morning I was hit hard with feels!
You have suspicions that something is going to happen, but hoping it doesn't. The story is smooth, and not clunky like some short stories can be when packing a lot into a short span of chapters.

If you love dogs, or short stories, definitely put "Curby" on your list.

I owned two golden retrievers, so this quick story really touched my heart. The author really details the love, trust, etc between human and dog. It is great to picture it all from the dog end of things. This story requires a good sized box of tissue to get through it. Also brought back a lot of good memories of my girls. Get ready for some very powerful emotions. Enjoy.

I just loved this story, it told from the dogs Curby’s perspective and so different from anything else I have read, the conversation the dogs have between them make you think actually that’s what a dog would say or think or do. Be warned tissues at the ready,

Although this is only a very short story, I wouldn’t take it to read over a break at work as you are going to need a lot and I do mean a LOT of tissues/Kleenex. This is such an emotional story as the author takes a look at grief through the eyes of Curby who is very close to his owner, Roxy. Unfortunately, he loses Roxy, what’s a dog to do, the think and feel when his whole world is gone? This is certainly a story that stays with you after you have finished it.

I decided to get this book because every time one of my cats jump on me and ask for some love, I always wonder what’s going on in their minds. I know, I know, Curby is not a cat, but in the end, they are pets who love their humans and trust them unconditionally.
It is a short story, but one I will always remember because it touched my heart deeply. It made me smile, laugh and cry.
A book I highly recommend to any people who love animals especially dogs.

I'm going to warn you right now you'll need some tissues for this one. I made the mistake of reading this at 9am only to end up in a mess of tears. Curby is a short story in the POV of Golden Retriever. He's absolutely a cutie and totally in love with his mom Roxy. He cherishes her and loves being around her. He even has conversations with the other pups that Roxy's friends have. One day Curby gets some bad news from Roxy's friend. He didn't know what happened exactly, but he knows his human friend wasn't coming back.

Curby is a must read if you're an animal lover. It will definitely leave you in your feels. Thanks to Alyssa lyne for providing me with a copy of the book through book sprout in exchange for an honest review.

I love dogs, so I was happy at the chance to read this story. I love that the dog narrated his own story...he is just adorable, as are his doggy friends. What I didn’t expect is for it to be so heartbreaking. I love the story, nonetheless, and any story that makes me FEEL is a great one as far as I am concerned. Just keep the tissue handy!

Curby is a short story that is told from the point of view of man’s best friend. Curby is devoted to his human Roxi but one day everything changes. When Roxy doesn’t return the emotional turmoil that Curby goes through is gut wrenching. Tissues are a must when you read this story.

Roxy and Curby are companions. They way this was written was from the POV of Curby, the dog. I am crying now, what a sad story. Curby found a new home with a friend of Roxy, Brock. Brock is sad and Curby is there to help. This is a great story but if you are a softy it will have you in tears. I loved it. Sometimes everyone needs a good cry.

If we could see into dogs’ minds, this book captures exactly what I would expect their minds to work like. This story, all at once, was heartwarming and sweet but it also tore my heart out and ripped it into a million pieces. Have a box of Kleenex with you while you read this one! This short story took me on an emotional roller coaster. I fell hard for Curby and Roxy. I loved the way that Curby came alive in the book. He’s such an amazing dog, who I think truly loved his friends and owners. I cried so hard, I had to stop reading for a minute and wipe my eyes. This is a short story but it’s worth the read. 10/10

I started this book knowing it would be sad and make me cry, and it didn't fail. Oh the feelings! This story is so sweet and tugs at the heart strings. I love it! The perspective as told by Curby is exactly as I would imagine a dog sounding in my head.
