Once upon a time, he met a fairy. The only trouble is he doesn’t know if she was real. When Harry inherits his family’s hotel, he knows this is his chance to finally discover the truth. Though the hotel seems to have long lost its magic, Harry still hopes to prove to himself that his best friend from childhood was real and not just the figment of his imagination everyone always said she was. Lily’s been waiting decades for Harry to return to the hotel where they once met. The only problem is when he finally arrives, he’s no longer able to see the magic of the hidden world. If Harry no longer believes, it’s up to Lily to somehow convince him. Of course, since he can’t see her, she’s going to need a bit of help from the locals. With the Shenanigans crew involved, though, things are bound to get out of hand fast.
Sadly, Pepper was not born a shifter. She dreams of being adopted (or mated) by one, but until such a glorious day arrives, she consoles herself by writing about shifters instead.
Either that, or she really IS a shifter and is just pretending NOT to be a shifter, to protect her people.
Whether the former or the latter is anyone's guess, but either way, she's living her absolute best possible shifter-life.
When Harry was a child his best friend was a fairy, but his mother took him away. Years later, after inheriting the hotel from his father, he returns longing to see Lily again but not sure he believes anymore. Then the Shenanigans crew gets involved and it seems Harry may just learn to believe in magic once again.
I've really enjoyed this series and this book is one of my favorites. It was well-written and I loved all the characters, many of whom we met in previous books. I was drawn into this enchanting tale and kept hooked throughout. Harry and Lily's story is a sweet romance with ups and downs as they become reacquainted. I'm looking forward to the next book. I highly recommend both book and series which I think is best read in order.
I found Lily very frustrating in her inability to begin to understand what Harry is going through, and Harry almost too stupid to live in trying to follow the stupid courting advice from the shifters. Once they finally got past that and actually started talking the story improved dramatically.
