Kenzie Jacobs is fascinated by a portrait of the roguish Highlander, Black Ben, which hangs in her ancestral home. There's a mystery surrounding his death, and Kenzie longs to solve it by traveling through time to 17th century Scotland--and perhaps meet the gorgeous laird who haunts her dreams.Black Ben, Laird of Ross, suited his dark name more than ever since his wife died in childbirth. He has vowed never to marry again. But Kenzie is an intoxicating elixir and even more potent than whiskey. As confusing and crazy as she may seem, he can't get her out of his system. But there's no way they can ever work, as she does not fit into his plans.Fate has brought them together, and Ben can't stop Kenzie from returning to her time, though he would do anything-except marry her-to keep her with him. Kenzie has a life to get back to but leaving her favorite, though infuriating, Highlander behind, might be the toughest thing she'll ever have to do.
Tamara is an Australian author who grew up in an old mining town in country South Australia, where her love of history was founded. She loves to write romance novels in an array of genres, including regency, medieval, and time travel.
I thought this author did a very good job when telling the story of a modern woman traveling back in time to Scotland. Kenzie is what some might call a witch as she can transport herself and others through time . Having always been fascinated by the story of the mysterious Black Ben she sets out to discover what actually happened to him and just why his castle burnt down . Ben blames himself for his wife's death in childbirth and has sank into oblivion with the help of a bottle or six of whiskey ! Ben definitely isn't expecting his friends and their odd and totally unconventional relative Kenzie to start telling him what to do . Still the lass is pleasant to look at and behaves not at all like the he expects an unmarried woman to . Their attraction is obviously mutual but Ben is needed at home and then has a pleasant surprise when Kenzie follows him . Unfortunately though there are much more unpleasant surprises in store for the roguish Highlander ! I honestly thought the author did a very good job with the dialogue although would say that having someone drink lager quite near the beginning did somewhat jar me out of the story. That and the word ass instead of the more colloquial arse were the only glaring mistakes that I found so yes I did find it very easy to sink into this book. It's very hard to write dialogue in a highland brogue and I actually did as the story unfolded feel I was transported to seventeenth century Scotland. Ben is a cheeky character and no mistake and he's offset perfectly by bold, modern Kenzie. Her previous fascination with the portrait of the handsome laird does take a bashing though as he's not exactly swoon worthy when they initially meet. Still once he's cleaned up and setting out to charm the pants off her Kenzie very quickly returns to lusting after him ! I won't reveal the plot but occasionally things were mentioned that felt a bit pointless almost like red herrings. Secret rooms and Kenzie suddenly feeling unwell come to mind but happily the author still managed to give a well rounded and entertaining story. Whilst I don't usually read time travel romance I did enjoy this book and obviously the cover with a hunk in a kilt only added to it ! This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
I'll be honest here. I did not enjoy this one nearly as much as the first. I think maybe some of it was that everybody that mattered already knew that Kenzie was from the future, that she was planning to go back after a few months with her own power, and that she was well prepared to live in that time. The tension between her Ben was short. Really only while he was drunk and sick. After he got better he wasn't pushing her buttons to get a rise or constantly bickering with her like Aedan and Abby did, which is one of the things I most enjoyed. Instead, Ben was his fun flirty self with Kenzie and simply wanted to get to know her better. At least to begin with. I was not happy with how he married Aline at the end of the last book, but I was actually okay with how everything went down with her in the beginning which led Ben to Kenzie. It was all very believable.
We met Kenzie in the last book when she sends Abby back to Aedan. This time around it's her turn. She has been nearly obsessed with Black Ben since she was young and now that she has full control of her power, she has every intention of going back in time and finding out what happens to him that he practically disappears one night. Which, by the way, after only a few pages was insanely easy to figure out that I could not believe that Kenzie never even thought of it. I liked her because she knew that she would have to blend in, she actually listened when she was told to do something (hallelujah for a woman who isn't so goddamn full of herself that she never fucking listens when a guy tells her what to do), and she was just so easily believable in her actions and thoughts.
I do think that I liked Ben more in the last book. I'm not saying that I didn't like him here. Because I did. Especially when he was his fun loving self again. I loved how Kenzie always thought of him as one of the characters from the Scottish romance books because, really, he truly was. He's a great and honest man, but also a fierce lover and fiercer fighter.
After Aline's death, Ben blamed himself and has been spending his days drowning in alcohol and women. Something most unbecoming of a man of his station. Gwen and her husband end up running into him on their way to their new house that Aedan gifted them and see first hand the disaster he has become. Not long after, Ben shows up at their door completely drunk. And also very sick. By that time, Kenzie has already arrived and is staying with Gwen as a relative. True enough after all. Her first interaction with Ben was a pretty terrible one. Even so, she helps to nurse him back to life. When Ben comes to again, he's decided to try and start over with Kenzie. Something she's not sure is safe for her to do. Because the more time she spends with him, the harder it becomes to control herself. But it's undeniable that the two of them like each other and they do get closer.
Unfortunately, not all is well back at Ben's home. He has been gone for far too long, and Aline's family is acting very suspicious, so he must return sooner than they were planning. Much to his surprise, a few days later Kenzie shows up. She says it's because she has to know what happens to him but even she knows that that's a lie. Neither are under the delusion that Kenzie will stay, so the two of them have decided to enjoy each other's company to the fullest while they have it. Which ends up being much harder for Kenzie simply because she's a women. Made even worse when Aline's brother and sister show up. It doesn't take long for things to go horribly wrong...and after such a great start to the keep's day. When push comes to shove, Kenzie is forced to make a choice. One that she makes without thought, changing Ben's life forever.
The end mostly worked for me. Except one glaring issue Or perhaps I'm supposed to not think of this and just enjoy the story.
I don't know who the next story will be about (I am hoping there will be another) but I look forward to it.
What a brilliant, time travelling adventure this proved to be. Well, if you want an indication of how good it was, I’ve now purchased myself a copy of the first book in this series, To Conquer a Scot, and plan to read it shortly. Here’s my review of the book that inspired me to do so!
Kenzie Jacobs is a business woman who has been fascinated by the portrait of the handsome but mysterious Black Ben which hangs in her ancestral home. He lived in the seventeenth century and was the Laird of Ross but somehow disappeared without trace, taking his baby son with him. Kenzie has inherited her family’s ability to travel through time to explore different eras and she’s determined to visit the area during the time of his disappearance in an attempt to discover just what happened to this renowned Highland warrior. She plans for her travel carefully but those were turbulent times with Clan wars and danger lurks as visits her ancestors and meets the charismatic Highlander!
This is an enthralling, well written time-slip romance with great characters, plenty of historical information, an intriguing plot and a brilliant ending. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and have absolutely no hesitation in highly recommending it. (Mind you, the fact that I went and purchased the previous book in the series should help reinforce how much I enjoyed this one!)
I requested and received a copy of this novel via NetGalley. This is my honest review after choosing to read it.

Scotland, Present Day 2018 and 1605
Kenzie Jacobs of present day in the 21st century, has inherited the power to time-travel from the future to the past. She has always been obsessed with a portrait that hangs in her ancestral home in Scotland. It is of Black Ben, Laird of Ross of the 17th century. He seems to of disappeared after a fire in her ancestral home, yet no record of his death anywhere. Kenzie would love to solve this mystery, besides seeing the changes of her ancestral home, four hundred years prior to her current time in the 21st century. She is also suspicious of Black Ben’s disappearance with no record of him in history. In addition there is no history of his family lineage and his castle did not survive. It is basically a crumbling mess in pieces. This is the mystery Kenzie wants to solve though she suspects foul play - believing Black Ben was murdered.
A few months after she times travels to Scotland in 1605 where she meets Gwen and Braxton Maclead, her great-great-great too many to count grandparents! It os hilarious as Kenzie is actually older then her ancesters when they meet face to face in 1605.
Black Ben, Laird of Ross is in a horrible state wasting his life away. He left his keep not able to see the looks of sadness and sympathy from his clan. As his young wife died from complications from childbirth. After she had delivered him a healthy son, Black Ben is living with guilt as he never even loved his wife not that she loved him either. So he is basically drinking at this inn which is more of a cheap dirty whorehouse. He is ashamed of his current condition, but not ready to return home yet.
Now it defintley was not love at first sight when they first meet. As Black Ben is a total mess with bad breath, unbathed as his body order stinks to high heaven and his hair is unkept and matted! A big disappointment. Than he gets a high a fever, and nearly dies. Luckily Kenzie brought some of her 21st century medicines with her that saved Black Ben’s life. Though Kenzie has had a crush on Black Ben since seeing his portrait as a young girl. Now once he was bathed and clean he was absolutely drool worthy from top to bottom! His bulging biceps, dark silky long tresses, sensuous smile and sexy scottish brogue. Kenzie kept telling herself as did Ben that no feelings could surface or it would rip her heart out. Ben was trying to get over a wife's death he never loved, he knew Kenzie was everything he wanted in a woman. Would he ever be able to let her go? Or would it be heartbreak and devastation, once this 21st century beauty returned to her own time?
This is the second book is the face paced riveting A Times Travelers Love Series. The setting is beautiful, dialogue is amazing, plotting is brilliant and the characters phenomenal. It is filled with adventure, mystery, paranormal, time-travel, suspense, betrayal, devastation, treachery, sorrow, heartbreak, faith, joy, love and so much more. A book readers can easily read as a stand alone novel or in series order. As there are characters - from the first book in this series making appearances too. I have read both spectacular books where the author Tamara Gill juat blew me away! Bravo!
I absolutely highly recommend the spectacular book! A novel Scottish Historical Time-Travel readers don't want to miss.

Voto 4,5 .
To Save a Savage Scot by Tamara Gill is the second book in the "Time-Traveler's Highland Love" series. This is the story of Kenzie Jacobs and Black Ben, Laird of Ross. I have read the previous book but feel this can easily be a standalone book. Kenzie has always been interested in the picture of Black Ben and now has moved forward to buy the Castle Ross. This moves her forward to find out what happened to Ben by going back in time. Ben is upset after his wife died and lost interest in everything except dulling the pain with drinking and women. There is an instant attraction between Kenzie and Ben but can there be a future for them with her being from the future and Ben never wanting to fall in love. Exciting story!!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 💋💋 Time travel has never been a favourite of mine , but this one I loved . Kenzie travels back to the 1700s to find out what happened to the former owner and Laird of her home , Castle Ross . Ben is the Laird Of Castle Ross , after loosing his wife he goes on a drunken spree , leaving his home and clan and his son . The two don’t get off to a good start , but things progress quickly and soon they have to decide does she stay in the past or will he follow to the future . Love Tamara’s books , this is action from the start and a great read . I read an advanced copy of this book and chose to submit a review
I got swept up in this fabulous time travel story, Kenzie, is curious about the picture of Black Ben and returns to the seventeenth century to find out the mystery that surrounded his death, never counting on falling in live with him, trouble is she has to return to her time, or does she?
I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley and I am voluntarily leaving my own honest opinion
Tamara Gill does it again with her second book in her Time Travel Series. Kenzie Jacobs, our heroine, of present day, lives in her ancestral home with a picture of Highlander, Black Ben on the wall. She has always been intrigued by Black Ben and longs to travel back to Scotland in the 1700's. When her dreams come true and she does land back in his time, Ben is living up to his name after the death of his wife and child. Can you image someone from the future landing in your time years before she was born? Haven't we all kind of dreamed of that? Okay I have and I do not think I am unique. But to try to understand each other would seem a little confusing. But as Ben and Kenzie spend time together, an attraction grows but Kenzie feels she needs to get back to her world and time. Can Ben keep her from going back to the 21st century? A wonderful read that will hold your heart as these two strong forces try to make it work. This is part of a series and although I have read the first book and loved it, this can be read as a stand alone. Be prepared to get lost in a story that have you turning the pages!! PS, don't you love this cover?
Kenzie Jacobs has at last managed to buy the ruined castle and grounds of Castle Ross. It's a place that has long fascinated her. Ever since she saw the portrait of Black Ben the Laird of Ross and heard of his mysterious disappearance. Now it's time to use the gift that has been passed through generations of her family to find out the truth. She will travel back in time. Black Ben is not acting like a Laird. Since the death of his wife he has been doing nothing but whoring and drinking. He is certainly nothing like the man she thought he was. Can our heroine save him when there seems to be nothing to save him from? This story is lots of fun. Our heroine gets quite the adventure. It's different from a lot of time travel stories because of the control she has over her gift. It is part of a series but you could quite easily read it as a stand alone. It's better when you understand the family gift which starts in the first book. I loved it.
4.5 Stars Kenzie Jacobs is fascinated by a portrait of the roguish Highlander, Black Ben, which hangs in her ancestral home. There’s a mystery surrounding him, and Kenzie longs to solve it by travelling through time to 17th century Scotland and hopefully meet the gorgeous laird who haunts her dreams. Black Ben, Laird of Ross, suited his dark name more than ever since his wife Aline died in childbirth & he has vowed never to marry again. Kenzie is an intoxicating elixir and even more potent than whisky. Fate has brought them together, and Ben can’t stop Kenzie from returning to her time, though he would do anything except marry her to keep her with him & Kenzie has a life to get back I was caught up in the story from the start & wanted to find out the mystery surrounding Ben. The characters are very well fleshed, Ben has sunk to an all time low when Kenzie meets him & even seeing him in such a state she’s attracted to him. Ben is also attracted to Kenzie who is so different from all the other women he’s ever met. The pace of the story is very good & I simply wanted to keep reading until I’d finished it. This is the second book in the series but the characters from the first whilst mentioned have no impact on this story. I’m not a lover of time travelling books but I’ve loved both books. My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
I love time traveling seriously feel like I was born in the wrong era. My love for these types of books pushed me to read this and I'm so happy that I did. To save a savage scot is an awesome read and I consumed it in one sitting.
Black Ben has disappeared from the history books without a trace. His clan gone, home destroyed, but what happened ? Kenzie has strong ties To her Scottish heritage so much that like her ancestors she has "gifts" as well.
When she purchases Castle Ross she knows she has to go back in time to discover what really happened. In doing so she is going to be on one wild ride.
Ben has not had an easy go of it and winding up with a woman from the future and his home being threatened. Their journey is not easy but as they battle through its just a freaking good love story okay! I received this book for free in exchange for an ARC.
Tamara Gill continues her Time Traveler's stories when Kenzie Jacobs - a modern woman, goes back in time to find out what happened to Laird Black Ben Ross and why his castle was destroyed and no one knew what had happened to the laird and his baby son. Almost before Kenzie traveled back in time I could guess what happened to the Laird but it was fun to see the two get to know each other and fall in love. My only complaint about this book is that if you hadn't read the first book you don't know much about how Kenzie had the ability to time travel. I received an advanced copy of this book for free.
I thought this book was absolutely wonderful! The time travel aspect of this historical romance was a breath of fresh air and a little different from what you expect with these novels. It was very well written. This is the first book I've read by this author... It seems to be the second installment of a series, but was great as a stand alone. Kenzie going back in to e to solve one of Scotland's greatest mysteries was fun to watch unfold. Her 21st century attitude in 1605 had me giggling a few times. Loved this book and would totally recommend it.
i finally had the opportunity to read this author but been on my list for ages. I used to read by the dozens Highland books but when discovery of new authors there always seems to be short on time lol. I mad the time for this one with it being the description that called to me. It though has a element I do not read too much any more but this author made it enjoyable. Time travel is in this one with the allure that done it I do believe. It also centers around Kenzie and Black Ben whom begin to slow boil our emotions with their tale. You too are caught up in the past with her but then he is delicious but you want to see where they lead you. To speed through is also something you want to do to see where you end up at.
I was on the edge of my seat throughout this story. What happened to Ben? Did he die, did his son die with him? Could Kenzie help Ben and his son? There were so many questions and what ifs and I did not know how this story could conclude with a happily ever after...who am I kidding, of course it could, it is a romance. There were a few plot points that confused me, her illness was one and Athol’s insistence that she marry Ben was another. This series (two books so far, not sure if there will be more) is just fun to read.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
This was a fast paced time travel story with an abundance of action. Kenzie has travelled back to the 1600s to meet her ancestor but also to solve the mystery of what happened to Black Ben, the Ross laird. It was different from other time travel stories I have read as the main characters either knew or were told that Kenzie had come from the future. This was a very entertaining read with two strong main characters, Kenzie and Ben. I kept turning the pages wondering how matters were going to be resolved and keeping my fingers crossed that there would be a happy ending. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Once again it was a delight to be entertained by Tamara Gill. This story was very well written and all of the characters held their own creativeness. Although the end was a predictable one, it was fun to read how it all unfolded. I love these time travel stories. Sure hope we will see more.
Kenzie Jacobs has always been fascinated by the portrait of the gorgeous Higlander, Black Ben, that hangs in her ancestral home. There is mystery surrounding his death and all Kenzie wants to do is travel back through time to seventeenth century Scotland in hopes of meeting the Laird who also haunts her dreams.
Black Ben, Laird of Ross, has suited his dark name even more since his wife died in childbirth and has vowed that he will never marry again however Kenzie is addicting and he can't get enough of her even though she can be very confusing and even seem a little crazy at times. But there's no way they can ever work, as she doesn't fit into his plans.
It seems fate has brought them together and Ben can not stop Kenzie from returning to her time, though he would do anything possible - except marry her - to keep her with him. Kenzie has a life to get back to, but leaving her favorite highlander behind may be the hardest thing she ever has to do.
Tamara Gill is a very gifted writter who knows her way around time travel. Add a highlander and you have the perfect mix in this incredibly captivating novel.
*I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. All opinion stated are solely my own and no one elses*
3.5 stars
This was a good read but I enjoyed the first one much more than this one.
I liked Ben - he was cheeky, flirty, sexy yet fierce. Kenzie was no pushover and I loved her bluntness and sometimes harsh attitude towards Ben. She definitely kept him on his toes and refused to stroke his ego. These two had great chemistry and I liked the tension simmering between them.
I really enjoyed Kenzie and Ben's story! I loved that Kenzie could send her self to any place and time. I would love to have this ability!! I would visit so many historical events!
Kenzie had the benefit of knowing about the time period that she traveled back to and since she planned her trip, was able to travel back with things that she might need. Having heard the story of Black Ben her whole life, she is a little disappointed in the man she first meets. But he grows on her as he gets his life back together after the death of his wife.
Kenzie went back in time to solve the mystery of Ben's death, but she ended up falling for the guy. Can she save him so that history as she knows it doesn't come to fruition?
I'm hoping that Gill continues with this series as I am throughly enjoying it!
I'm really a fan of time-travel romances, and I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
Kenzie Jacobs is obsessed with a portrait of a man who seemingly vanished from history. What happened to him, and why did his castle burn down? She chooses to time travel to solve the mystery .
Black Ben, Laird of Ross, has turned into a dissolute, drunken, disreputable rogue since his wife died in childbirth. When Kenzie first sees him, she can't believe that he is the man from the portrait. Initially disgusted, she still can't seem to stop thinking of him, and she doesn't understand why she's actually attracted to him in spite of his appearance.
When he finally comes out of his haze, Ben is attracted to her. He's determined to keep her as far away from him as he possibly can. Increasingly, however, he is intrigued by her. She's different from any woman he's ever known.
Can Kenzie solve the mystery of Black Ben and return to her own time? Will he forget her - or will he lose his heart?
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I was given an ARC of this book through NetGalley and the publishers for an honest review. This book will be a keeper for me as I just love an Historical Time-Travel story. The main character is Kenzie Jacobs who has always been fascinated by the story of Black Ben Lord of Ross and his portrait the hangs in her ancestral home. Kenzie has the gift of Time Travel and is determined to travel back to see her relatives and to solve the mystery of the Lord of Ross's disappearance in history. The attraction of these two people is not automatic but after Kenzie aids in Black Ben's recovery from the 'ague' they seem to get together very rapidly . Black Bens wife's relatives wish for him to marry his deceased wife's sister who is a total nasty person. The relatives also wish to take away Black Ben's power and his son from him. I have really enjoyed reading this book and highly recommend it to readers.
First I want to say this is my first book that I've read by this author and even though this is book 2 in a series i didn't feel like I was completely list since I didn't read book 1. I've been looking for a good time travel book to read and I was very happy to stumble across this book. It was very good and I p!an on reading more books by this author and definitely recommend it for those who like time travel books or people who like books about Highlanders. I fell in love with Ben fairly early into the book. Once I started reading it i didn't want to stop. I like how not only was there time travel back but also had time travel moving back to the current year Kenzie came from
Fascinated by the mystery of the death of Black Ben, Kenzie Jacobs is determined to find the truth, even if it means traveling back in time to when he lived in 17th century Scotland. But as Kenzie and Ben get to know each other better, there's just one problem. Sooner or later, she'll be returning to her time. Will she be able to convince Ben to go with her, or will they lose their chance at happy ever after?
What an extremely engaging and fascinating read Ms. Gill has delivered in this second book of her Time-Traveler's Highland series where the fast-paced plot drew me in from the beginning and had me reading quickly, determined to discover whether the heroine would get the answers she wants; the main characters were compelling and had me intrigued by their back stories, especially Black Ben, as he's been through so much in losing his wife and not coping with her death; and the dialogue was absolutely riveting, as someone is determined to see that Ben and Kenzie have no future together. Will Ben and Kenzie be able to overcome the obstacles they face together including whether Kenzie will stay or return to her time and the trouble Ben faces that could cost him his life?
As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the main characters back stories and the danger these two face because no way will Kenzie let the hero face it on his own. Moreover, the heroine is resilient, courageous and I liked how she stood up to Ben's in-laws who are rude and nasty and don't deserve to have such a good man like Ben in their lives. I also liked how determined she was to help Ben, even though it's difficult for her to open up to him about the real reason why she's time-travelled. Will she ever confess why she's moved through time to 17th century Scotland? Yet, what I liked so much about the heroine was her determination to win Ben over, especially when she does something he may end up hating her for. While the hero, he's strong, brave and I liked how determined he was to protect Kenzie, especially since she's not used to the barbarity of the time and why people are so willing to hurt others. I also liked how loyal the hero was to his people and that he would do anything to keep them safe, even if it means putting his own life on the line. Will Ben be able to protect his people?
Overall, Ms. Gill has delivered a wonderful read in this book that I could not put down and where the chemistry between this couple was intense; the romance was delightful and had me loving these two together; and the ending had me worried for the hero and heroine because of the trouble they face, but had me cheering for this couple's happy ever after because of how they overcome their biggest obstacle to be together. Will they stay in 17th century Scotland or will Ben go with Kenzie back to her time period? I would recommend To Save a Savage Scot by Tamara Gill, if you enjoy Time Travel Romance, the mysterious strangers trope, or time-traveling books by authors Angeline Fortin, Catherine Bybee, Nancy Scanlon and Sabrina York.
Kenzie Jacobs is fascinated by a portrait of the roguish Highlander, Black Ben, which hangs in her ancestral home. There’s a mystery surrounding his death, and Kenzie longs to solve it by traveling through time to 17th century Scotland—and perhaps meet the gorgeous laird who haunts her dreams.
Black Ben, Laird of Ross, suited his dark name more than ever since his wife died in childbirth. He has vowed never to marry again. But Kenzie is an intoxicating elixir and even more potent than whiskey. As confusing and crazy as she may seem, he can’t get her out of his system. But there’s no way they can ever work, as she does not fit into his plans.
Fate has brought them together, and Ben can’t stop Kenzie from returning to her time, though he would do anything–except marry her–to keep her with him. Kenzie has a life to get back to but leaving her favorite, though infuriating, Highlander behind, might be the toughest thing she’ll ever have to do.
My Thoughts: I have now read both books that have been written in this series. They are both time travel romances but are unrelated as far as storyline, but they do contain at least one character in common. They are standalone titles and you do not need to read them in order to get the full enjoyment of each one. Kenzie Jacobs is drawn to a portrait that hangs in her ancestral home of the Highlander Black Ben. There isn't much known about the roguish man as he disappeared and no one knew what happened to him. Kenzie has an unusual ability to travel through time to an appointed destination. So due to her fascination with Ben she decides to travel back to his time to find out for herself what happened to the roguish highlander. Never did she imagine that she would fall in love with him and he with her. What can this mutual attraction lead to? I gave this book a 4.25 of 5.0 star rating for characterization and storyline. It gets a sensual rating of 4 of 5 flames. These two can not keep their hands off each other once their attraction is perceived by the other. I received a complimentary digital ARC from both the Author, via an Arc sent directly to my kindle and the publisher via NetGalley. This in no way affected my opinion of this title which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
I Loved this book of a Scottish time travel by Tamara Gill. It is the 2nd book 📕 in this series and it was just as good as the 1st one. This is a continuation where the first one left off by H having eloped with a lady he didn’t love to save his friend to marry his true love. They had a amicable marriage and even got to caring for each other. The lady died at the birth of their son and left H devastated making H leave the castle for months. H tried to mask the pain and guilt he felt with drinking and women during this time. H was unrecognizable when his friends come upon him in a tavern on their travels. He gets a scolding and they invite him to their house should he need some place to crash which he does. This is when h meets H when she travels from the 21st century to the past where H lives in the 1600’s. Her first impression (without knowing who H is) is disgusted by his drunken dirty stinky appearance. She has come back in time to meet her ancestors (great many times great grandparents). But also because she has studied and has a thirst for knowing what happened to H. In the history books 📕 it says H disappeared and no one has ever known what happened a Scottish Mystery she wants to solve. When she realizes who that the drunk stinky man was she is amazed that she has found the Laird of Ross Clan. She helps nurse him back to health along with her grandparents who esteem H greatly. When he starts to resemble his past healthy virile self h is attracted to him as H is with her. She has come with the knowledge of the date he dies or disappears and wants to be able to stop it. Their attraction leads them to become lovers and have lots of hot steamy sex for the rest of the book 📕. They profess their love to each other and marry. There is a rival clan that are his in-laws that is a danger to them. In fact they declare war on him and his clan. This is the day H should die in that skirmish but h grabs H and his son and transports them back to the future. H was badly wounded and is taken to the hospital where the surgeon saves his life. When H becomes aware that he is in the 21st century he wants to be taken back to the past immediately. However history says that there’s nothing left of the castle or his clan so h tries to make him understand but he’s not convinced he can live in the modern world. But h is here and she eventually shows him the ruins of H castle and tells him they can rebuild and have it back to its original glory with modern amenities of course. H agrees and because he doesn’t want to live without h and wants to live in his family home. It was a good read and I would recommend this series.

The main character in this story is Kenzie. She has purchased Castle Ross and intends to restore it to its former glory. She also is intrigued over the Laird Ross and his fate. He mysteriously disappears. No one knows for sure if he was murdered or killed himself. She plans to find out using her special skills and traveling back through time. Her reasoning for this trip back in time is meet her ancestors, see what Castle Ross looked like, and save Laird Black Ben Ross. Of course things can’t be that easy. The author makes Ben into a real jerk at first. Kenzie instantly dislikes him. She stays awhile in his time and finds out what life was like. She gets to know the man behind the legend and finds the more she knows him the more she likes him. She is independent and brave. Her character has to find a balance of her modern day beliefs and the beliefs of the time. She has to walk this fine line, yet she makes her own enemies. The author allows her to adapt well and accept what she experiences. She is an excellent character. Ben is also a great character. He is a bit of a bad boy and teases Kenzie in an inappropriate manner for the time. It is funny to watch the interactions and read her shock. When she starts sassing him back, it completely cracked me up. She surprises him and he has definitely met his match. Then he decides he likes her sass. It was a fun pairing. The threat that the author presented wasn’t surprising but more irritating. Who does things like that? I knew by the end that the disappearance would be exactly what I thought. It was how it came to be that was a bit surprising. The characters were presented with some hard decisions. It was a great read. I love time traveling storylines like this one. I give it a 4 out of 5.
