About the author

Blake Karrington

Blake Karrington is more than an author. He’s a storyteller who places his readers in action-filled moments. It’s in these creative spaces that readers are allowed to get to know his complex characters as if they’re really alive.

Most of Blake’s titles are in the South in urban settings that are often overlooked by the mainstream. But through Blake’s eyes, readers quickly learn that places like Charlotte, NC can be as gritty as they come. It’s in these streets of this oft overlooked world where Blake portrays murderers and thieves alike as believable characters. Without judgement, he weaves humanizing backstories that serve up compelling reasons for why a drug dealer might choose a life of crime.

Readers of speak of the roller coaster ride of emotions that ensues from feeling anger at empathetic characters who always seem to do the wrong thing at the right to keep the story moving forward.

In terms of setting,Blake’s stories introduce his readers to spaces they may or may not be used to - streetscapes with unkept, cracked sidewalks where poverty prevails, times are depressed and people are broke and desperate. In Blake storytelling space, morality is so curved that rooting for bad guys to get away with murder can sometimes seem like the right thing for the reader to do - even when it’s not.

Readers who connect with Blake find him to be relatable. Likening him to a bad-boy gone good, they see a storyteller who writes as if he’s lived in world’s he generously shares, readily conveying his message that humanity is everywhere, especially in the unlikely, mean streets of cities like Charlotte.

Tea, tea and more tea. Blake Karrington gives you a glimpse in to the Urban Lit world. Readers are doing ANYTHING to become an advanced reader, which shouldn't surprise me, but does. These authors are out here messing with authors and readers and I'm just over here reading and shaking my head. This book is short and will have another installment. I will definitely be tuned in because I do not want to miss any of this tea.

Spin The Confessions

On you resolved try not to be offended and accept “BI*C@” & “NIGG@” are modern euphemisms for “girlfriend” & or “dude”. Thereafter, “Confessions of an Urban Author: Welcome to the Industry (Confession of an Urban Author Book 1)” was a good read yet condescending 🤦🏾‍♀️🤨. Why is Marcus upset, his fiancé (well, former 🤣😂🤷🏾‍♀️) which he’s frequently humiliated and cheated on repeatedly called him “ugly” (🤣😂🤭…note: stating the truth isn’t disrespectful rather expressing the obvious!) but he refers to any female as a “bi$c@“ with no regard. Meanwhile, Zion is a hypocrite. …shooting up the club he own & manages. DANG, “Rich Gang Publishing” is one hot mess 🤭‼️Thereafter, both Marcus & Zion are superficial! They are probably wealthy on paper, but unfortunately emotionally juvenile, socially irresponsible with reckless tendencies. ..Well, book 2 should be interesting 🍿Let’s spin the proverbial confession bottle (🍷🍷🍷😂)‼️

Interesting/ Impressive

Confessions of An Urban Author: Welcome to the Industry by Blake Karrington is interesting and impressive story. Blake Karrington does a good job.

There are different between good readers and bad readers. Good readers don’t want anything from authors and always show their support to their favorite authors. They don’t want to dealing with drama but they love to read a good book. Bad readers always judging by the cover, give the bad reviews to authors and using the authors for everything. Marcus needs to get himself together. Simone and Zion are something else. I can’t wait to read the part two of this series.

Messy

Man who knew the book world was so messy. I mean. They get it in and bring all the drama those books intel. Marcus is your typical insecure dude, who use women to compensate for his short comings. He deserves everything coming his way. Zion seems to be a level headed guy whose one night of throwing caution to the wind may have been his biggest mistake or biggest blessing. Simone seems like a good woman whose one night of screw it may have have her something to deal with for a lifetime. I bet she wish she would have went on and put Rico's butt out now. I need the next episode.

Author

This was quick and straight to the point. Zion and Marcus are publishers who are like night and day. Zion is the cool one and Marcus is the playboy with the drama. Looking to sign new talent, that’s where Simone come in. Going to a book event have left good and bad in the publishers personal and business life but business always come first. Spilling her home life and sharing a bed have left Simone in deeper issues than she can handle but how will she move forward with her new life as a signed author and new beginnings? Can’t wait for the next installment.

Scandalous!!!

Whew chile! Reading a book about the industry definitely had my attention before even starting. Now that I've read it, I'm looking over my glasses like is this what's really going on with these authors out here??? Seems like the music industry and I'm here for the drama. I can't wait to see how this story plays out for everybody, especially Marcus dog ass. I'm hoping for a happy ending for Simone tho but I'm not even sure what a happy ending would even look like for her. And who in the hell is stalking Zion???

Short but Good

Wow wow that ending! What is little old Simone going to do? This little short story holds a lot of drama. Marcus needs to get his act together, and for Keyonna to be with another man already is fake to me. ☹ Like her you jumped to another quick 🤣. I like Mr. Zion and hope something good is in the future for him.

Talk about drama!

This book was drama filled from beginning to end and it doesn’t seem like it’s going to be stopping any time soon. The scenes were unfolding like reality TV and I can’t wait for the next scene.

Love It!!

Baby !! Poor Simone! She has definitely gotten her self into situation. I am definitely waiting for 2nd edition.
Marcus is crazy and very self-conscious about his looks. Money does not always solve the problems.

Short but sweet...

When a one night stand goes right but so wrong. Simone bless her lil heart, she let the light eyed Zion slide in to make the pain go away. That dang Marcus needs a therapist with his over sexual tail. Part 2 fine be messy I see.
