Nobody gives The Square car much of a look, with his square wheels, square engine, square seats and square tyres - how could he possibly win? But this rambunctious little car will win the hearts of the people with his passion and steadfast determination in this wholesome and loving little story from best-selling author Jeffrey Archer. If your kids loved the Pixar and Disney franchise, 'Cars', they'll love this sweet story.-

There is a car race but the king and queen do not know about the fastest car in the country. There is a car with square wheels and he came all the way from town square to participate in the race. It turns our that this car lost the race. when the king and queen gets to know that how hard he had worked and came all the way from town square, they named him by royal appointment and they took a ride on him.
So, some of you might know the author, Jeffrey Archer. I’ve heard that he is a popular author but this is the first book of his I’ve read. It’s more like a book for elementary school children, but I read it anyways.
By Royal Appointment is about King Benefactor and Queen Echo of Little Land. Now as I told you, this book is for younger kids so places do have names like “Little Land”. And, also, if you were wondering, Queen Echo does echo everything.
The two rulers want to know which is the fastest car in Little Land. So they go to Lord Chancellor for an answer. Lord Chancellor is, I think, their royal adviser. He knows everything about Little Land and a few more random facts.
Lord Chancellor thinks and says, “Nobody can be certain because there has never been a race between the cars of the kingdom”. So what’s the best possible solution? Have a race!
They invite all the cars in Little Land for the race: Speedy Car, Flashy Car, Shabby Car, Silly Car, Grumpy Car, Trendy Car and Little Square Car from another town called Rightangle. Little Square Car is made entirely from squares, even square tires!
The king was worried about how Little Square Car is going to participate (square tires, remember?) But Lord Chancellor said that he was a hard-worker and is perfectly fine with his square wheels.
Can you tell which car won? If you said Little Square Car, you are actually wrong. I know, even I thought it would be the Little Square Car. You know, like people say, “Slow and steady wins the race”. But who knew there would be a plot twist?
The Little Square does, in fact, come close to winning the race, but just before reaching the finish line, he promptly falls apart. Some of you might have expected that, but me being innocent and all, didn’t see that coming.
Anyways, right now you might be thinking, what happened to the Little Square Car? You see, the whole of Little Land wanted Little Square Car to win, even the king and queen (I thought they were supposed to be unbiased!)
When Little Square Car lost, the king went to Lord Chancellor to ask what he can do to help Little Square Car. So Lord Chancellor said,” Why not make him your royal car?”.
And that’s just what the king did. Little Square even got stamped with a “By Royal Appointment” sticker. These stickers only go to the best of the best in Little Land. And the Little Square Car clearly deserved it after all his hard work.
