Xarooda, Myest, and Rhoadseria join forces to fight against the O'ltormea Empire. As each country acts in the favor of its own interests, Ryoma Mikoshiba begins acting on his own. A battle between O'ltormea and the three countries begins, with no end in sight. Ryoma acts to set himself up as the true winner of this war, forming alliances outside of the Kingdom of Rhoadseria.
At the same time, the great power of the north, Helnesgoula, begins moving its armies. Its intentions are unclear, but Ryoma sees this as a chance to contact this powerful kingdom...
The fantasy epic of a young leader and his strategic plays reaches its eighth volume!
Ryoma has been conscripted to fight a war on allied territory. Despite not being all that eager to participate, he's still determined to do everything he can to win the war. Because if Xarooda falls, there won't be much left standing between Wortenia and the Empire. Luckily, he's got at least a few strong allies backing him . . .
And now we're truly in the swing of things, as the battle rages on. The point of view shifts from Ryoma, to allied commanders, to the enemy commander, to various people involved in all the subterfuge going on, which really helps to paint a picture of this conflict from all sides. There are a lot of lies and mind games going on, and just having one viewpoint would be far too limiting.
This does cut off at a somewhat unfortunate spot though, as the tables are starting to turn by the end, but there's by no means a certain victory. The Empire's princess may be facing embarrassment for not cleaning things up fast enough, but she IS remarkably well-supplied with both troops and talent.
There are also some minor updates to other characters. I'm still not terribly interested in Asuka. Also, it feels like the second policeman has just dropped out of the plot, since we now have confirmation that indeed only one of them was rescued along with her. The one upside is that this plot is starting to look like it will have a point---mostly because it's showing just who Ryoma's grandfather was likely dealing with.
Overall this arc continues to stay strong. I rate this book Recommended.
Not much to say about this, this series is still going pretty strong but I feel a little dissatisfied that we barely had anything related to the main character in this volume. It's becoming very ambitious world building and building of side characters.
