The Conglomerate holds control over the illegal and manipulative technology. The book has parallel storylines. Marvin stone decides to review the technology rules; that’s going to affect a lot of personal lives. The problem starts when the family problems of King Cordial of Vale start spilling on social media. The author has done an incredible job of presenting a unique story with the parallel characters and science fiction. The combination creates a great suspense and thriller story. A family politics to attain profit and power is well-depicted in the book. It states that people lose their ethics; forget all the principles to gain earnings on any ground—the quench to revenge their opponents and selfish human behavior. Massive applause to Lily Nicole for outstanding work to weave storylines in one incredible book.
This book is science fiction like I have never seen it before! It is a thrilling mix of mystery, politics, and the human psyche all rolled into one. It is based on the incredibly complex and brilliant algorithms developed by a wealthy business owner, Marvin Stone, and how he uses them to rewrite the rules of the game. We then get to see the results of these changes unfold, and how the character’s lives are affected.
The author’s style of prose is unique and masterful. You are kept on the edge of your seat, not able to wait to find out what happens next. The character development is incredible. The subtleties in their personality shine through and the author brings humour, family dynamics, greed, and smart into the dialogue with ease. The book was extremely well thought out, the imagination and skill used is extremely apparent, and how it all comes together is truly amazing.
I love how in actuality, the way the author portrays the year 2030 is somehow, I think, a very real possibility of what it is going to look like! I found the book to be complex, interesting, technical, and a page turner! Overall, I highly recommend reading this book, it is extremely well written and the shift on outlook from one character to another makes it thoroughly engaging.
Lily Nicole created a thrilling dystopian book full of mystery, action and schemes. I really liked it! You keep connecting with all the characters which is not easy. It is very hard for an author to create empathy between the reader and the characters, but you can expect it in The Quarter Percent. And have you seen this awesome cover? I recommend The Quarter Percent as it is a great dystopian book mixed with a little of political issues and mystery for you to think about profit and how could you be the best on the matter. Honestly, it is my favourite kind of genre. Lily made a wonderful job describing the many characters knowledge and vices. Who will be able to win this competition? The ones that have everything at their reach or the ones that have to work hard? To me this book is a must for this summer. You can expect a roller coaster of emotions and it is really short. Believe me when I tell you that it is addictive, I have read it in a couple days.
What originally drew me to this book is the cover, which is just stunning and really eye-catching. Reading the blurb I was really interested in the idea behind this story; dystopian and original, I was intrigued and decided to give it a go. Unfortunately what could have been an interesting story is let down by the writing, which is a shame as the writer displays a solid use of vocabulary and expression which could have worked well if they had chosen another writing style. The tone is completely off, the novel reads more like a report on events than a narrative description of them, I don't know if that was what the writer was going for, but it just doesn't work here. It is stiff and makes what could have been a rich and interesting world quite dull and repetitive. I'm giving this three stars because I think this writer has potential, but this book didn't do it for me.
The Quarter Percent is a story I will not forget soon. The world is filled with all different kind of emotions and behaviors from different people. Everyone wants to live a life of hope and success, but at times people are brought down again, or never go up lack of self-belief to achieving greater goals. This great book is easy to read and perfect character development with the smooth flow of the story makes it impossible to put the book down after I started reading. My mind will forever drift back to this novel, whenever I feel lonely and about to give up. The author has shown masterly skills by having complete control of her story and style. I couldn’t put it down. I highly recommend it to all readers!
I loved this book's theme, that basically technology is ruling our lives. The characters are also very interesting. I like Marvin Stone as a wealthy businessman who tries to control our lives with technology. The real political and problematic part of the story starts when the family problems of King Cordial of Vale starts to get around on social media. I must recommend this book to would-be writers, as it will open up your imagination and inspire creativity.
When I started reading this book I was on the edge of my seat. I couldn’t wait to see what happened next. I got so engrossed in the story. As if in 2020, I am experiencing what's going to happen in 2030. The way of potraying the characters and the story was great. It was so realistic. The shift from one character to the next made the story so engaging. Must read!!! This is a science fiction book for everyone.
At first I was skeptical as the author is new but her creativity and imagination of both human psychology and technology amazed me a lot. Some of the tech invented in this book is inspiring me to study more computer science. This is a must-read book if you wanna know what’s coming next.
When I read this book, I was thinking it was like other science fiction novels but when I started reading it I was not able to leave it because it was so interesting. The story and the powerful imagination of the author left me wondering if this was really made up. Fun read.
This book makes me feel like I’m on an emotional rollercoaster. It has everything like mystery, politics, technology. There are a lot of great twists in the story that will keep your interest to the very last word. If you are not reading this book, you are missing really good science fiction.
I loved the style of the author. It completely made a crystal clear image in my mind that I can never forget. Each character was depicted carefully. Her imagination and storytelling skills are awesome. A very interesting novel.
The Quarter Percent by Lily Nicole is a unique dystopian science fiction blending politics and technology together. The plot has many parallel storylines that are woven together through mutual connections.
Set in the near future, the book begins giving a glimpse of the technical takeover on our day-to-day lives. Every information ever put out on the internet is now archived into a ten cubic meters of nanocellulose and silicon called Pai. Every user can point your device to this jelly block to access their data and modify them according to their taste. Access to this unique technology is only given to an extremely rich quarter percent of the population. This manipulative illegal technology which is controlled by a group of eight companies called The Conglomerate plan to market their product in the near future. This will cause a phase-out of the internet and the rise of Aeterna, the replacement. The source code of Aeterna is owned by Marvin Stones’ technology firm, Stone Technology Partners, LLC.
The plot thickens when Marvin Stone decides to rewrite the rules of the technology over the course of thirteen days. This will disrupt many lives depending on social media and the internet. The equations of marketing and advertising are going to take a toll due to this. This storyline is blended with the life of King Cordial of Vale, whose family problems have started spilling into the media. The King and his daughters are trying to squeeze the last drop of profit and power through covert plans.
This is not a simple story that can be expressed through a few lines. The story is getting complicated with the introduction of new characters. This complexity adds suspense and thriller elements in the story. The satirical account of family politics to gain more power and profit is portrayed very accurately. When people lose their ethics and only concentrate on profits, their grounds also change. This leads then to unquenchable greed to impair their opponents and rise above them. The human nature to wage war for their selfish goals is the soul-cause of the fall of humanity. This story explains them all. With accurate turns and twists, the plot never loses its charm.
The creative mind behind the story demands huge applause. It is not easy to weave many storylines together and combine them to a single concept. The author has done this job very well. This book is absolutely a great treat for readers.
