New York Knights #3

Captive Night

An alternative cover edition can be found here

Discover a world of power, filth and depravity in the steamy and thrilling New York Knights series. The saga continues with this captive romance.

I'm used to living a lonely, isolated life. I'm nothing more than a dirty little secret, and a pawn used in a twisted game of power.

My half-brother is saddled with the burden of taking care of me, making sure I don't land in the hands of our enemies. While he's away on his honeymoon he hires a bodyguard to take care of me.

Davis Cooper, AKA the hot as hell ex-FBI agent.

My attraction to him is instant, but his cold disregard for me is annoyingly obvious. It triggers the rebel in me, and fuels me into doing things a girl like me should never do.

Childish? Maybe. But behind the stone-cold façade Davis wears so well I can see there's a warm-blooded man waiting to devour me. He just needs a little nudge in the right direction--my direction.

Unfortunately, I manage to land myself in a heap of trouble. Now, what started out as little game of push and pull between us, changes into a bloody game of survival.

This is book three in the New York Knights series with interlinking storylines. Captive Night shouldn't be read as a standalone and is the continuation of a five book series about the alpha protectors of Hart Corporation.

I love the way S.M. West writes. Two books down and I enjoy the way she blends suspense, romance and so much angst in her stories. The road to happily ever after isn’t easy for these characters but it is definitely entertaining.

For much of this book, I was lost. Not gonna lie. I think a lot of the backstory was established in Anna’s brother’s book, BLUE, and so many things went over my head. This may have contributed to my impatience with Anna. I get that she was supposed to be sheltered, but was she also lacking in anything related to modern knowledge? It wasn’t like she was never around other people, so unless she was the most unobservant person EVER, wouldn’t she have some basic know-how of the world she lived in? She came of immature, irrational, and more talk than anything else. While everyone was working to protect her from her inevitable servitude, she kept saying she was just going to give in to her grandfather’s demands. She kept putting herself in harm’s way as if she had the training that all of these ex-military and ex-lawmen had in spades. So frustrating. As for Coop, he was a tough nut to crack but I did like him. He wasn’t the greatest guy, but at least he was honest. Gotta respect that. I wasn’t sold on their romance or eventual love, but I did have fun watching the development of their relationship.

I’m looking forward to Max’s story. The fine doctor has a story to tell and I can’t wait to read it!

Green , the third book in Love in Color series revolves around the hidden and forbidden attraction between Davis "Coop" Cooper (a retired FBI agent now working for a private firm that specializes in security/protection) and Gianna/Anna Mari , a 25 year old half-sister of Evan Hart, who also owns the mentioned private firm) and she's in need of protection from her mobster grandfather Franco, who has his own hidden agenda of using Anna to secure the alliances at his own gain.

The task to watch over Anna goes to Coop, who is brash and almost rude in his appearances and actions towards Anna, and he treats her as a kid, emphasizing their huge age difference of 12 years between them, while he actually tries to fight off the sullen attraction he feels towards her,
She's the kind of beauty that sneaks up on you, until one day, she's all you can see.

and the fact that she's his boss's little sister only intensifies the "forbidden" off limits rule.

But Anna has had enough of being sheltered, as she's been all her life, hidden away, brought up without friends and any interaction, and no solid notion of anything wordly, she's eager to break that bond, she wants to experience all and she wants to take charge of her own life, for once and for all, and that, not only, includes her somewhat reckless actions of endangering her own life and putting herself at risk from Franco's men,
I'm tired of having no control, of life happening to me because of decisions made by dangerous men. For once, I wanted to take things into my own hands.

but also her growing affection towards the broody, huge hunk of a man who's so reluctant to be around her, physically...until she pushes the final straw of his self-control...

But then it all goes to bust, when Anna finds out the details concerning in keeping her safe, all the feels Anna got overwhelmed with get questioned over and over again, BUT it's gonna be up to Coop to prove her otherwise...by also proving himself that she's the one he's been waiting for, and that she's the one that will erase the bitter experience of betrayal of love, in his life so far.
I never believed I'd have this. Any of this.

This is just the beginning. A wonderful new beginning. We have years to grow together, love together, and be together.

SM West , soon grew to be a well known writer of suspenseful tempting stories, ever since her first debut Blue (Love in Color #1), which remains my very fave , thus far ;), and she always brings something new to the mix, every book shows off her craft of flawless writing style, but in this story I have to say that, for me, there was a lack of emotional connection between two main characters despite of the sizzling, steamy anticipating and tempting attraction, I just didn't feel the wanted emotion and that still stays my main remark.

The action sequences were solid, paced well and timing of them was tempered accordingly BUT at times I did find certain characters' actions a bit unclear and awkwardly presented in the concerning the "explanatory segments" of the plot. I was asking myself: "why would that be the righteous cause of action? LOL, anyway, all in all, SM West is the author to watch out for in your future treasure-book hunting! *wink*

"I Pick You" 💜

Gianna "Anna" was recently united with a brother she never knew about and finds hope in what could be. Unfortunately, her past has other ideas that put her life in jeopardy several times throughout, often with a careless act on her part creating a window of opportunity. She is headstrong and stands up for herself but she rarely takes a moment to consider the ramifications before taking action. It drove me nuts on more than one occasion. 🙃

Coop, her protector / babysitter fell into a similar spot on a few occasions. He trusted that she'd act like an adult even though she had proven that it was misplaced trust on his part.

Despite the things that made me crazy, I found myself cheering them on. The chemistry wasn't completely instant but that long weekend seemed more like a month with everything that transpired. I really liked how Coop took her to meet D and explored a part of NYC she'd never been. There were some sweet and tender moments along the way. Eventually, things get spicy, too. 🔥🎉 That surprise at the end really took the cake. 🎂🍾🌸💜

I listened to an author copy of this book. Jakobi Diem and Caitlin Elizabeth did a really good job with these characters.

"All my life men have tried to force me to be the victim, and I’m tired of it. I’m going to fight every step of the way, until my last breath. "

Green is the third book in the Love in Color series . While technically you can read it as a standalone, I strongly advise to read at least Blue first. You meet most of the characters in the previous and certain actions are happening you need to be aware of. If you don’t have the time, it’s also fine. SM West always does a wonderful job reminding us what happened before and I find myself always remembering what was important in the previous book so I’m not lost.

It’s save to say I’ve loved Green! To me the best in the series. The way the story grows, the way Coop & Anna fall for each other, the way it ends! Marvelous. I couldn't imagine it in a better way.

I see SM West’s writing grow with each books she writes, with each story she tells. Her style is detailed and you can feel the different emotions going through the characters’ minds.

What was even more complicated in here was the fact Coop & Anna are quite the opposite. They have an age gap, they don’t have the same background, they didn’t even like each other.

Anna has always been kept away her whole life and she is now resolved to live her life. She’s aware she’s in danger but she doesn’t want to be kept in the dark.
Coop is an hurt man after his fiance cheated on him. Keeping an eye on Anna is the last thing he wants to do.
The attraction was a delicious pull and push ( yes in that order). Their love is far from a winning game and it was refreshing to have some resistance.

“You like it.”
“That’s got nothing to do with this. You couldn’t handle me. I’d shattered you into so many tiny pieces, you’d never be whole again without me.”<
“Oh my God, cocky much? How big is your ego?”
“Girl, you don’t know the half of it.”
“Then show me.”

This is not a flower & chocolate type of read . The Love in Color series never was. It’s a romantic suspense and you get surprises along the way. The twist and turns I didn’t see coming keep me hooked to the story and I can’t wait to read more in the next book. There were certain side-characters I’m very interested in as well. *wink wink*

This book is a page-turner! It leads the reader on an unexpected journey from danger, heartache, and hopelessness, to a wonderful place of acceptance and love.
At first, the main characters seem like they couldn't be farther apart, but when they're forced into each other's company, that divide quickly narrows. Coop and Anna are an unexpected, yet fabulous pair. Personally, I enjoyed watching Anna's growth and discovery of herself, even when the action became unbearably tense and I was yelling at my Kindle for her to run back to safety. Coop drove me crazy, but in a good way ;)

I Cannot wait for more from the Love In Color series.

Green is the 3d installment in the Love In Color series. It follows the story of Anna (Evan's sister) and Coop (whom we first met in Red).

I'm rather conflicted as how to rate it because although I love SM West writing style, I didn't like the story that much.

Anna has been sheltered by her mafia family since her tragic birth. Now "free" of her grand-father, her freedom tastes bittersweet since the least of her moves is monitored by her brother and his team, ...and her grand-father who is still lurking around, in the attempt to use her to assess his power in the mob.

Coop, ex FBI, and Evan's employee, has nothing in common with her. 12 years her senior, he got hurt by his ex girlfriend and is a true manwhore when it comes to women. Broody and cold, sometimes a class-A asshole, he wants nothing to do with his new job assignment, Anna.

I enjoyed that Anna and Coop's relationship evolved slowly, form hate to desire to more. But I totally disliked Coop's bad habit of leaving whenever he loses control. I find it utterly immature and... tiring. One step ahead, three steps back, I had that urge to slap him behind the head all along.

Anna, on the contrary is described as shy and immature, and I discovered instead a fierce woman, strong and trying to get the control on her life, that she never had before. I loved her. Did she make the wisest choices and decisions, hell, no; but she tried. It was reckless but despair would do that to you, right?

Her brother and his team suffocated her during the whole story, excluding her from the decisions that concerned her life. And what decisions... These men could be so frustrating!!! They treated her like a child, and after complained she acted like one? Hu-uh, we have a problem here..

All in all I enjoyed the book but not as much as Red and Blue. I'll definitely read more of this series because the family and friendship the author created is amazing, I like the sweet moments they bring out, and most if all I love her strong and feisty heroines!

Such a great story! Anna and Coop are thrust together due to circumstance. Coop tries to fight his attraction, while Anna wants to be allowed to grow up. Her big brother Evan has other ideas.

Plenty of action, plot twists and great chemistry, there were with times when I wanted to kick Coop between the legs - but he always managed to win me over again...

Definitely recommend if you are looking for an action packed love story.

Coop & Anna are put together not by choice.....but sparks definitely fly when they are around each other. I had a love/hate relationship with Coop, as he really was up and down with his behavior/attitude. At times I wanted to slap him silly, but other times he was such a sweet and caring guy. Yet, once Coop got over his reservations about Anna and the situation, he truly became a lovable guy.

I really felt for Anna throughout the book, as she was a young woman, but everyone continued to treat her like a child. Anna showed her naiveté for the situation she was in on many occasions, but I completely understood why she acted that way. She wanted to make her own decisions for once, and not be controlled by those around her.

Overall......I thought this was a exciting, action packed story, with plenty of hot and sexy moments. Not a dull moment from start to finish and I truly enjoyed it!

Green, S.M. West's newest addition to her Love in Color series features Anna and Coop, supporting characters familiar from her last novel Blue. S.M. West is a talented writer. Since her debut last year she continues to deliver interesting stories and likable characters. All of this is present in Green, however, I never connected with the characters Coop and Anna. I didn't feel the essential chemistry that is needed to bring a couple together. That said, it's a well-constructed novel, written in a dual first person point of view in West's flowing style with plenty of action and excitement. I enjoyed the interactions of all the supporting characters and Tommie is especially interesting. I look forward to finding out more about her backstory and hope she is featured in a future book. I liked Green, it held my interest and I was happy that Coop and Anna found their HEA. I look forward reading further books in this series!

For nearly twenty five years Anna has lived an invisible life. A colorless life in the dark world of her grandfather's criminal underworld. Although he rejected her at her birth, Anna serves as his bargaining chip to gain higher standing with the mob, and he keeps a close eye on his little pawn. Now that Anna has been taken into the fold of her brother, Evan's, family and security company, they’re working diligently to protect Anna and extricate her from her grandfather's clutches.

Anna would love to live her own life, to make decisions for herself, to grow into the accomplished woman she has the potential to become, but with her grandfather’s thugs and her brother's employees following her every step for very different reasons, Anna has no control over her life. And she sees no hope at all for the feelings she’s starting to have for Coop, her brother's friend and her current full-time bodyguard, taking root or being nurtured to bloom.

As with the other books in the Love In Color series, Green is full of drama, suspense and intense emotion. SM West has a way of setting up her heroes with a seemingly fatal flaw that brings out a strong dislike in me that has me doubting the her ability to sufficiently redeem the hero. I really didn’t like Coop as I dug into this story. He was a player who went through women like tissues (but no details, thankfully) and his treatment of Anna? Let’s just say I wanted to kick his butt. Somehow, Ms. West picked him up, dusted him off, and I ended up loving him, maybe more than any of the other heroes so far in this series.

Coop and Anna really were perfect together, and it was beautiful to watch Anna sprout and grow into a strong, confident woman after all she had faced. Her character couldn’t have been created more perfectly, or more realistically. From her invisibility and naïve innocence, to her interactions with Coop as she found her footing as a woman, to her defiance, bravery and determination in the face of danger. Coop’s character was also carefully constructed, growing from what appeared to be a shallow, selfish man into a partner who encouraged, nourished and supported Anna in her growth.

Although I read an advance copy, I also purchased my own ebook and will also buy the paperback, because it’s absolutely that good! Although I rarely reread a book, this is one I will return to and know there will be new things to discover as I take a deeper look. Green is a phenomenal book, well worth reading, and I can’t wait to reunite with these characters when the next book in the series comes out.

Green. The color of hope.
The verdant prospect of birth.
The lush virility of innocence.
The budding promise of growth.
And the sage persistence of love and fidelity.

Coop and Anna are placed together while Anna's brother is out of town with his wife. Coop is supposed to be keeping an eye on her because of her relationship with the mob, mainly her grandfather.

This book would have been a 5 star read for me had Anna not thrown herself at Coop constantly. And Coop got on my ever loving nerves because he was always so negative, even his thoughts about Anna were that she wasn't his type.

I love that Anna does have a back bone at times, like when his ex Leanne shows up. She never backs down. But when it comes to Coop she was annoying.

Things begin to change after the hotel incident between Anna & Julian. I really got into the book then.
I don't want to give away too much and end up spoiling it for anyone.

The writing is on point. A little on the sweet side, which is not normally my thing, but I really enjoyed this book.

Rounding up to 4 stars!

Green is a fast paced and intriguing read. I was pulled into Anna and Coop’s story from the very first page. Anna was definitely not the type of girl to sit back and let a man handle all of her problems. She wanted to stand up and handle things for herself. As much as she doesn’t want to have to depend on others, she will quickly learn that there are some people worth trusting and depending on. The one thing she never saw coming though was Cooper. When Cooper is assigned to babysit Anna, he will quickly learn just how fiery Anna is. Anna will test and challenge Cooper in ways that he never expected. Anna is off limits, but the chemistry between these two is hotter than anything Cooper has ever seen before. Staying away might just prove to be the hardest thing he’s ever done…

Overall, I thought Green was a pretty good read. There were a few spots where the story was a little bumpy, but easy to look past. Green was fast-paced and kept me on my toes. I thought this story had some great action, and suspense. There was no shortage of steamy moments or twists. Green is the third book in the Love in Color Series, but I do believe it can be read as a stand-alone novel. Even though I did feel like there was some bumpy parts of the story, I am still going to round this book up to four stars because I thought it was a really entertaining read.

Green is chockfull of action, suspense and an at first glance unlikely couple!

Anna and Coop are worlds apart but like any good jigsaw pieces, they fit! Anna is sick of her Ivory Tower and ready to live her own life, any mistakes...well they will at least be HER mistakes. She can be sneaky when she wants but she does come out of her shell more during the book.

Coop has been on the losing end of love before and work is just what he needs to get his mind off his troubles. Shame that he and Anna are walking smack dab into the middle of more trouble than either of them knew!

Great read with a charismatic couple and a superb slow burn to the romance!

The Love in Color series gets better and better with each book!! Green is a suspenseful, action packed read with an unexpected yet perfect couple! Anna and Coop could not be more different, but they fit together just right! Their love is taboo and a slow burn. Despite being secluded and told what to do her whole life Anna is ready to make her own choices and get a taste of freedom before she sucomes to her expected fate. The men in her life do not make this easy for her, even the ones trying to protect her. She's sneaky, defiant and very strong willed! She is a fighter! I loved watching her come out of her shell and stand up for herself as the book went on. Coop is mending a broken heart throwing himself into work. He loves what he does and takes it very seriously. He finds himself on "babysitting" duty when Anna's brother needs someone to keep an eye in her. Coop feels betrayed by the boss with this assignment and almost blows it more than once. His feelings for Anna are unexpected, he tried very hard to fight them and didn't always treat the situation in the best way. Green is a definite page turner! The sexual tension was palpable at times and Anna and Coop's relationship was a constant push and pull! There were so many unexpected events and characters that made this story so so good! West has created another great story with equally great characters! I hope she has more in store for this series!!

Green is the first book that I've read in the Love in Color series, and I hate that I came fashionable late to fabulous party, as I loved it! Anna is a young woman living an invisible life as a pawn in her grandfather's criminal world, so he can use her as a bargaining chip to rise in the mob, even though he rejected her when she was born, so he keeps a very close eye on her. Her brother, Evan, with his security company, is doing everything he can, to protect her & remove her from her grandfather, and this is where Coop comes him. He's her brother's friend, and her bodyguard, but he's none too happy about it. This story grabbed my full attention from the very first page, and I couldn't put it down until every word was finished. While I loved Anna, and definitely felt for her, Coop pissed me off to no end for much of the book. His treatment of her had me wanting to junk punch him a lot, not to mention he was a real manwhore. Thankfully, S.M. West's talented writing style had him growing throughout this story, so by the end, I didn't want to choke him out anymore. The cast of secondaries were great, adding more depth to the story, while the twists & turns had my f-bombs dropping like crazy, and the side of angst of Anna's upbringing was heart wrenching. I'm fully addicted to this series already, so I NEED more, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Green is a blend of friend's little sister, mafia, and bodyguard. Anna is Evan's little sister and the granddaughter of a fearsome mafia boss who wants to sell her off via marriage. Evan vows to not let that happen to her and uses his company of ex-military, FBI, and cops to help him protect her.

Davis Cooper (Coop) is assigned to babysite Anna and he is pissed. Babysitting gets in the way of his threesomes and general manwhoreish ways. When we first meet Coop he is drunkenly leaving 2 women in bed after having slept with them. Seriously, I already don't like this guy. Conversely, Anna is a naive virgin. I do love the virgin heroines, but I found her to be too naive for someone as horrible as Coop. I wanted her with Tripp to be honest. Coop is mean and rude to Anna when she doesn't deserve his ire. And I could not figure out WHY she was jealous of the women in his life. I felt like we were told there was chemistry, but I didn't understand or believe it at all! Why would anyone want Coop after knowing him? Now, don't get me wrong, West does 'redeem' him, but I am not that forgiving. #HeartlessBitch

The plot is intriguing though and kept me reading. While I hated Coop, I did like Anna (mostly) and really wanted to see how she would escape her grandfather's heinous plan. I didn't feel like I missed much by having not read the 1st two books, but I am interested in the characters and plan to go back and read.

While Green didn't give me a BBF I could love, it did give me a likable heroine and an intriguing plot that keep my interest!

Green by SM West:

Eventually, I select a large canvas, so large, I can’t get it on the easel and settle for the floor. I strip my jeans, long sleeved shirt and slip my shoes off, donning the sizeable green smock hanging on the wall. And I paint. Losing track of time or space. Fully immersed in the colors, my vision, my emotion.

“Here you are,” Coop says from the doorway, and I twist on all fours in his direction.

He’s leaning on the door jamb with his arms relaxed at his sides, and his feet crossed like he has been standing there a while.

“How long have you been here?”

I’ve been painting for hours, my fingers tingle, my feet are numb, and my lower back aches from crouching and contorting myself into strange, awkward positions. I was oblivious to the cries of my body while working.

“A bit.” He pushes off the wall, nearing to help me to my feet.

I roll my neck and shake out my limbs before tilting my head to look at him. He smiles, his white teeth and twinkling eyes pop as he tucks a few strands behind my ear.

“You’ve got some paint on your face.” His finger slides down my check and then the side of my nose. “It looks good on you.”

Heat travels from the center of my chest outward, and I can’t help but smile, “I’m glad you think so.”

Gone is my anger or bruised ego from his departure last night. I don’t really know what I was expecting or wanting, and I’m glad to see him. I’m also happy to see that he’s more himself.

“What am I going to do with you? You have to stop disappearing on me.”

“And what? Make your job easier, not a chance.” I tease, treading lightly, all too aware of the kind of trouble my wondering off could cause.See full review on The Book Disciple

This is my first read of this series and it grabbed me rather quickly. I wish I had read book one and two first, as I think it would have enhanced the experience knowing the backstory more intimately. Regardless, it can be read and understood on its own. I liked how two people who thought they were so different, realized that they were actually perfect for one another. They just saw themselves and each other in different light (and shadow).

Loved Anna and Coop!

I was really curious to see how this story was going to play out--very much didn't call them as a couple in the previous books, but they blended really well together in the novel--and I think SM did a great job of fixing the whole Franco issue. I was wondering how that would all play out in the end. Job well done there.

I also tend to think the girl on the cover represents Anna really well.

Now, for Purple.

Green by S.M. West is book 3 of her Love In Color series and can be read as a standalone. However, I would recommend reading the first two books to help you better understand the storylines and characters.

‘Green. The color of hope.’

S.M. West has created another 5 star read that had me needing to take short breaks to compose myself and wipe away the tears. Chapters 28 and 29 nearly broke me, and by the end, I was left feeling so emotional and definitely not ready to say goodbye to Anna and Coop who save each other. They also give each other the strength they need to make changes in their life and fight for what they want. Both have so much to lose by being together but I believe they were destined to become a couple and help each other heal. This has to be my favourite couple so far and I want a Coop of my own!

S.M. West throws in a surprise along the way and I honestly didn’t see it coming. There were no hints as to what was actually going on and I was as convinced as Anna that what she was witnessing was true. When she accidentally discovers the truth, my stomach dropped and my heart broke for her. Her discovery could end everything and I wasn't sure what would happen next. For me, Green had a different feel to it and whilst it didn't deal as much with difficult subjects like Red and Blue, it was still just as powerful and inspiring. I was sat up until 3am needing to finish the story and see if Anna and Coop would realise their feelings for each other and be strong enough to take a chance on love despite them both believing it'd never be part of their futures.

S.M. West is one of my favourite authors and this series is one I’ll happily recommend over and over again to anyone who has not yet discovered it. I'm now eager for the next installment of this addictive series and I wonder who will next experience love in colour!

Green. The Color of hope.

Green by S.M. West was a marvelous, compassionate love story. About two lonely people, finding solace in each-other's arms. It's off limits..... dangerous even.... but they can't stay away.

"I will die alone. Death by loneliness, or worse, is inevitable."

Anna Mari prays for freedom, to be able to walk down the streets without having to look over her shoulder. Someone to care for her, and not because of her status.

""My last breath will not matter. My death will come and go like my birth..."

Her dreams come true.... well sort of.

Davis Cooper is the best of the best. And when he gets assigned to babysit the boss's daughter..... he isn't too happy. The moment he see's this pretty little thing, he knew from the start she would be trouble with a capital T.

But as time goes on, they feel this undeniable connection. Their both lonely, and they just want to feel something. They least expected was to fall for one another.

It happened.
It was inevitable.

"I feel like a new man with her. My past, my mistakes, and all other relationships forgotten. We're not complicated by love or obligation, yet as easy as it is, it could change just as quickly. We're teetering on the edge."

But dangers are lurking in the shadows.... watching... waiting for their time to strike.

Will Coop be able to protect the one thing in his life that means something?
or will he lose her in the process?

Read to find out!

I have a hate/love relationship with the main characters in this book. One minute I like Anna and Coop but the next I just wanted to smack them upside the head. Anna wants to be treated like and adult but she kept making stupid decisions. Cooper is no better since he keeps running from Anna. Just man up.

Captive Night (New York Knights #3) is filled with danger and darkness (my favourite kind of read) and had me hooked from the start!
As the story unfolds so do the thrilling twists and turns and the ‘OMG’ moments. Coop and Anna have some seriously hot chemistry going on and I loved Anna’s sassy side. This well written series with its fantastic characters and brilliant on going storyline is so exciting! I highly recommend it. I couldn’t put it down!

Anna Mari finds it hard to make and have friends. Davis “Coop” Cooper is something of a puzzle. I really wanted to see if I could figure him out but it took a long time. But isn’t that why it’s called a puzzle? I can see the suspense but on the fence about the romance.

The beginning was very hard to follow – at least where Anna is concerned. It wasn’t until I got to chapter six that the light bulb finally went on. If it weren’t for this review, I probably would have given up. But the story started to pick up so I didn’t feel so lost – like a piece of the puzzle was missing. I also felt that I needed to go back and read Blue again then start this book right after.

It shows that you just can’t like every book. I loved Anna’s brother’s story but a lot of time has passed since I read it. Going back just seems like a great idea to get the sense of family. A sense of why she is so protected and will Coop change his ways. A secondary character, Julian, was another reason that I wanted to keep on reading. There’s a story there in itself and I want to know more.

It was very hard to feel any type of connection between Anna and Coop. I felt there was more tension between her and Julian. Her brother made a valid point while he’s talking with his sister and it’s something that I raised myself. That being said, it made it hard to believe that this was a happily ever after story. Also leaves me wondering what color comes next.

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

Captive Night
New York Knights, Book 3
By: S.M. West
Narrated by: Caitlin Elizabeth, Jakobi Diem

I knew Anna was going to be a handful, but this story is so good, and so much fun, I just had to listen! Anna convinces Evan to take a short honeymoon and he leaves her with bodyguard, Cooper. He is extremely capable and very distracted with his own wants and needs. Between the childish antics of Anna to get his attention and the danger she invokes, things get out of hand and Coop is doing his best to remain professional. But the pull he feels towards her is undeniable, and he is beginning to realize this off limits, gorgeous, crazy woman may be the one. Will he be able to keep her safe? Will she be safe from him? Wait til Evan gets back to find out! It's fun, flirty, dangerous, steamy and the best suspense I have listened to in a long time. SM West knows how to write a fantastic romantic suspense and I will be waiting for more.

Caitlin Elizabeth and Jakobi Diem enhance this story with a fabulous narration. Elizabeth has the right amount of attitude as Anna, and she knows exactly how to use it. She becomes Anna, as a strong, independent though at times bratty woman and lets us see her grow. Diem is finds his stride with Coop, frustrated, lustful, strong, protective and loving, this man has all the attributes in his performance.

My review is written voluntarily after listening to the audio version of this book.

Captive Nights is full of drama, suspense and intense emotion from beginning to end it's an emotional rollercoaster ride full of danger, heartache, and hopelessness that eventually leads to acceptance and love. At first, Anna and Coop appear to be a very unlikely couple who couldn't be more different, yet when they're forced to spend time in each other's company, everything changes. Coop and Anna may be an unexpected couple but they are perfect for each other.

I enjoyed watching Anna's growth and self-discovery, I loved how Anna pushed and pushed Coop to get a reaction! I loved their chemistry even though at times Coop drove me crazy but seeing him change from a player, a shallow, selfish man into a partner who supported, encouraged, and nurtured Anna, as their story progressed, was delightful.

The narration of this book is well done, both Caitlin Elizabeth and Jakobi Diem did a good job bringing all the characters to life.
