Count 1, 2, 3 as Little Hippo looks for a place to hide. His game of hide-and-seek leads him to his bath, where he, in turn, will have to look for his friend the butterfly. Part of the First Steps in Art series, this colorful tale introduces toddlers to fine art and features a bright-blue Egyptian hippopotamus figurine from the Louvre Museum. Can you find him hiding along the banks of the Nile in the golden sands and cool blue waters?
This book has the distinction of being the prettiest board book I have ever encountered. I have always had a soft spot for the little blue faience Egyptian hippos. Featured in this book is the precious little one who now lives at the Louvre. Whereas in English they simply call him Little Hippo, his French name is le petit Noun. Nun (English transliteration) is the god of primordial waters, so very appropriate for a little blue hippo. The concept of the book is simple - petit Noun plays hide and seek with a butterfly, and acquires beautiful patterns that match his backgrounds. A highly recommended gem for the libraries of all blue hippo lovers.

The cover was stunning and the story was cute but the words were way too small. I think they wanted the kids to focus more on the art than the writing though. Either way it was super cute!
I loved this for my young toddler. We receive PJ Library books and love that is attached to a similar program based on art work. Adorable, we played hide/seek with little hippo and learn how to say butterfly.
