I’m Krystin Blackwood, and I’ve only ever been good at one thing: killing demons of Darkness.
But at twenty-four, I’m about to face my toughest challenge yet: shifting from working alone to joining a team of three other Hunters. Newbie Hunters. They don’t know their magik, they barely know their place in the world, and when they find out the secrets I’ve been carrying, they’ll definitely decide it’s safer if they don’t know me.
But unfortunately for them—and me—Darkness has other plans. Lady Azar, Darkness’s heir, stole my new team leader’s son two years ago. Now, she and her lackeys are rallying to exchange Ben’s son for me because of the power I wield. I’m one-half of a prophecy to save an ancient city the Powers of Good lost centuries ago. And if I fail or die before that happens, the destruction of that city will be felt across all planes of existence.
If we can’t find Ben’s son before All Hallows’ Eve and somehow save him without putting my life at risk, that existential explosion will absolutely happen. But it’ll be nothing compared to the destruction wrought if Lady Azar changes Ben’s son into a demon… and her minion.
Because the only thing more dangerous than me with a blade is a father’s wrath.

Each of the books in the series was unique in its own way. Some had more action than others but all enjoyable. This is the complete box set. You are of course able to purchase them individually as well.
The romance is subtle so to speak. The main FC and MC have a relationship that builds throughout each book. If you are into the insta-love and hot scenes then this will not give you that. This is a paranormal urban fantasy series. Due to the overall clean nature of the writing, I believe it's safe for someone under 18 to read. There are plenty of gore and fight scenes.
I found each book to have some editing needs but not enough to distract from reading. The author did provide a decent closure at the end.
Fasten your seatbelt as you begin reading this fantasy adventure where good fights evil that threatens to destroy the world.
A character driven story with people you grow to care for as they fight to overcome a host of demons that seek to bring darkness into the world. Fulfilling a prophecy that two powerful people will emerge to fight for the survival of the known world as a demonic force seeks to destroy them. A fun read with lots of emotional and physical conflict wrapped around a clean story that will capture your heart. A story that everyone in your family could read and enjoy.
My review is based on the audiobook. This is such a fantastic captivating series with in depth characters and detailed world building. I became invested in the characters journeys early on but each book drew me in deeper. There is plenty of action, suspense & magic. The story is fast paced & I'm glad I had the boxset so I could go right into the next book. The narrator did a wonderful job bringing the story and characters to life.
I found this series a bit repetitive! I felt that the characters were childish not adult at all. Kristen is supposed to be strong to kill demons but she keeps getting attacked and hurt! There isn’t any happiness! I forced myself to finish this series hoping it gets better. But no all the same. I dint like the narration either.
It was ok. I liked the story as a whole however throughout the series i felt like there wasn't much hope or happiness. For a majority of the story it felt like the main character didn't have anybody who was truly on her side. I listened to it on audible and struggled with the writing sometimes.
this series keeps your interest to to see if the prophecy comes to pass for Krystin and if Ben can save his son Riley. I recommend listening and/or reading this series.
