The first time I saw her was across the room at a bar. I had no idea at the time that she was only sixteen. All I knew was that she was beautiful, she was sending me do-me vibes from across the room, and I was fresh off a deployment where there’d been nobody but men for nine of the longest months of my life.

The second time that I saw her was at a court hearing that would decide how long I’d be sent to prison for. She was a cute little curly-haired blonde with wide, expressive eyes, a banging body, and the reason that I’d gone to prison in the first place.

The third time I saw her was through a glass divider of the prison visitation room as she waited for her stepfather, my lawyer, to tell me how sorry he was that he lost my case. Especially when I’d been the one to kill the man that was about to kill his daughter.

The last time, the time that I decided enough was enough, was when I saw her at my bar eight weeks after I’d been set free.

Unlucky for her, I’d stopped being a good guy about two seconds after those bars closed behind me twelve years ago. Now all that was left was a shell of a man that didn’t see the good in anything. Anything except for her.

The beginning of Trick and Swayze's story broke my heart into a million pieces. The middle did its best to mend it, although some parts still shattered me a bit more. And the end... pure sweetness.

From the moment they met, Trick knew his life wouldn't be the same. He just couldn't foresee how much his life would change because of Swayze. In an instant, they clicked and then things went horribly wrong. Twelve years they were separated. Twelve years of their lives virtually lost. Twelve years to allow their feelings to fester. No wonder they were so explosive when they finally met again.

"You're mine and I'm yours and neither one of us really has any say in it." - Trick

Lani Lynn Vale didn't pull back. This story has pain and heartache, really bad people, and so much love. I'm hopelessly falling more in love with this series and these characters and I can't wait to see how much more LLV can make me feel.

My only issue was that there wasn't much in the way of character background. There were many reveals, but they were only partially given and not enough to give me a clear picture. For example, Swayze stated that she believed her parents were murdered. Then nothing. Trick's mom is mentioned with allusions to her bad parenting... and nothing. Don't even get me started on the bad guys. They weren't fleshed out AT ALL! Other than the odds and ends method of delivery, I was happy with the story I got.

This series is kind of swinging back and forth on what I was expecting. And I'm not sure if it's just me reading them at the wrong time or if it's that I'm putting them up against the last series and they are different. Or maybe it's just that this series has kind of swung back and forth.

All of these guys have their own back stories and although they are kind of similar, they are all unique. And the blurbs really aren't doing me any justice in working out what to expect. I think I was expecting the whole series to be based a lit tighter around the human trafficking thing and so far that seems to just be a background thing. Which isn't a story issue as I'm enjoying each of these couples having their own issues to fight through.

Trick and Swayze were not at all what I was expecting, and I had moments where I loved them and moments where I wasn't sure I didn't want to junk punch them. But overall, I liked getting their info and watching their lives unfold. I enjoyed seeing more of the other "MC" members and the women we have already met.

And as always there's a few characters I'm dying to read about so hopefully their books come sooner rather than later. Although either way I'll be here waiting for the next one until the very end.

Despite their rough beginnings, Swayze and Trick were destined. Trick paid a high price for being the protector that he was and fate wasn’t done making their path to unity difficult.

I enjoyed this read with that signature LLV feel that never fails to give me comfort. While her patterns have become a bit formulaic, I am comforted in knowing exactly what to expect from her. There are always some elements that are just a bit of a stretch and this story is no exception. I found myself enjoying the journey, framed with a solid plot, emotional connections, progressive pacing and an entertaining prose. I definitely had a few laugh out loud moments.

LLV has become my palette cleanser author because she is very consistent in her work. I enjoyed getting to know Trick and Swayze and look forward to more.

So far this is my favorite from this series. I really liked the H/h. I got slightly irritated with a few of the H's decisions but he never crossed the line into unredeemable. Heroine was def the strongest from this series so far!

Hot damn... There goes Ms. Vale giving us all the feels! The whole spectrum of it! Swayze and Trick's love story is as heartbreakingly sad as it is romantic and funny. My little black heart had quite a workout with Jailbait, and i loved every single second of it! <3 <3 <3 <3

This is a new author for me, and I must admit I enjoyed this book.
The hero and the heroine met at a bar when she was 17 and he was 21. He was an ex soldier and was going back home to take care of his little sister, she was waiting for her father, a man involved in drug dealing.
The man saw her with the hero and, high as a kite, beat her almost to death when the hero came in and saved her, killing her father. Since the man was in a corrupted circle and the judges were into it too, the hero went to jail for 12 years.
The heroine became a lawyer.
They meet again because both came to live in the same town, where the hero bought a bar and became member of the local MC.
When he sees the heroine at first he tells her to stay away from him but he’s still as much attracted to her as he was when they first met, so it’s not long since they surrender to their mutual attraction.
There’s also a story of corruption and a crazy ow thrown in the middle, with corrupted cops and another beating for the poor heroine.
Eventually all is well and also the epilogue is cute and satisfying.
Those two are really made for each other. He’s a real hero, and his love for the heroine is true and passionate. Even after 12 years she’s the one for him and there are no ow.
The heroine is a badass and I loved how she recovered and she became a successful lawyer.
I enjoyed the mystery too because it wasn’t too invasive but I found the violence a lil bit excessive for my tastes.
And the heroine had to endure not one but two beatings where she risked her life and had permanent damages.
I don’t know if it was necessary to the story.
But the book was very good and pleasant to read, safe and entertaining, so I can recommend it.

Jailbait is the 3rd book in the Souls Chapel Revenants and I am continuing to love this series! Swazye and Trick have a tragic second chance story. Their lives have been hard from the jump and I wanted them to get their happy life.

Poor Swazye gets beat nearly to death by her own father, and then the dirty town turns on the man who saved her. The guilt Swazye carried was huge and she makes a major life change. I love that Swazye never changed her mind-it would have been easy for her to move away and try to forget all this, but that isn't what she does.

Trick doesn't regret saving Swazye; he knows that he got screwed over, but he isn't upset at Swazye. When he gets early release thanks to Lynn, he takes it, but tells Swazye to stay away. Jokes on him-she lives across the street from his new home, his sister adores Swazye, and he can't escape her. He finally gives in and realizes that keeping Swazye at arms length is dumb.

Trick's sister is a delightful side character (as is her boyfriend, Dazzle) and thought her story is endearing. Also, seeing the MC and the previous couples always adds joy and often humor. Jailbait is wholly delightful, at times tragic, and steamy to boot!

  POV: dual 1st
  Tears: a few-their story has some heartbreaking moments
  Trope: second chance, ex con, MC club
  Triggers:
  Series/Standalone: standalone
  Cliffhanger:
  HEA:

Boots on the Ground by April Canavan, Dream Maker by Kristen Ashley, Trusting Skylar by Susan Stoker...then you will probably like Jailbait!

This is the third book in an amazing new series. This one kinda leaves off where the other book left off, Conjugal visits, with a part 1 intro. So Trick and Swayze meet at bar. She is there to meet someone and Trick is there to left off some steam after just serving over seas. These two instantly connect with some kind of pull bringing them together. They end up talking for awhile but something bad happens when the person Swayze was waiting for shows up. And Trick being the kind person he is sees what’s happening and steps in but little does he know he is about to ruin his life or so he thought. Fast forward some years and these two run into one another in the same town. Neither one of them was expecting to see the other again well Swayze kinda hoped one day she would. But not Trick. At first he was pissed and tells Swayze to stay away which she does. But then they just end up running into one another all over town. Trick starts to realize that there is no use in fighting what he feels for her and that he really isn’t mad at her for the way things went down years ago and that he is actually in love with her. Swayze has always been Tricks and was just waiting for him to catch up. We learn some new information about the “issue” that has been going on since the first book, Repeat Offender, and start to get a better picture of how far the corruption really goes. Now I won’t give details because I am not one to spoil it for someone else. All I can say is you need to go grab your copy today and get to reading. If you haven’t started this new series than you need to. It’s really juicy.

Good, but not what I was expecting from the precis.

Their age gap is only 4 years and has nothing to do with his sentence. Also, I wouldn't say that Trick is a bad or especially tough and uncaring guy like that leads you to believe.

This was the usual fab mix of fun, sexy and gritty that I would expect from this author. Loved it!

”God, I wanted to f*ck her. I wanted to brand her. I wanted to make her mine in every single way possible. Then I wanted to hurt her like she’d hurt me.”

When Patrick AKA Trick Wheat first meets Swayze Marrin, he doesn’t know that she’s only 16. They share a stolen kiss before everything gets shot to pieces and Trick ends up in prison. Twelve years later and Trick is out of prison early, joined the local MC, and running a bar. He never expects to find Swayze in the same town – let alone living right across the road from him.

Swayze has spent the last twelve years trying to do some good in the world. She’s never forgotten what Trick did for her…or forgotten him, really. When they meet again, she’s taken aback that he wants nothing to do with her…understandable considering that she affected the last twelve years of his life. However, there is no denying the chemistry between them, no matter how hard they try to ignore it. Throw in some shady goings-on around town and, before long, Trick’s protective instincts for Swayze surge back.

”You’re mine, and I’m yours, and neither one of us really has any say in it.”

I adored this story. As usual, this author manages to mix together a lot into one novel. Trick and Swayze were fab characters and I was rooting for them all the way. There’s humour, hot times and a good helping of grittiness. This author’s books are so satisfying, don’t take long to read, and definitely never same-y! Can’t wait for the next book in this series.

The minute Trick laid eyes on her, he was hooked. Unfortunately for him, she brought all kinds of trouble to his doorstep. The kind of trouble that landed him in prison for 12 years. Now he's out, and he's not anywhere near the person he was back then. Does this mean a second (or really, more of a first) chance is not in the cards for the lawyer and the ex-con?

Swayze's connection with the man she met all those years ago has not diminished. Will he ever give them a chance to explore that connection? Or has his time in prison changed him too much, hardened his heart so much that he's incapable of giving into feelings?

Whew! Trick and Swayze's story is a whirlwind! It's got two stubborn people (especially Trick), smokin' hot chemistry, more than a little action, a fledgling MC that isn't much of an MC, and an ongoing storyline that has me dying to know more about. I loved these two - their push and pull, their intense connection, and the way they finally achieved that happiness they both deserved.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A romance that I devoured way too quickly =)
I who love when the hero is much older and there is a strong age gap, I was very happy here =D And not at all disappointed by their romance which begins when the heroine was only sixteen and Trick who saved her life before they meet again years late r... She became a badass lawyer and he a bad boy running a bar =) There are quite a few violent scenes in this book (I liked that the heroine had after-effects, it was more realistic !) but that didn't bother me !
I have to admit I would have liked a more developed plot (more explanations, especially on the death of Swayze's parents ...)
In short, a romance to devour =)
(I can't wait to get Zach's book ><)
One of my top reads of the year!
Full disclosure. This author is an insta-read for me – I would read a shopping list if she wrote it. Always good, often a story will just leap out of the pages straight to my heart and Swayze and Trick’s romance did exactly that! Heart-breaking, hilarious this had all the feels and more…
Tracing their relationship from their devastating, first meeting to an epilogue that just made me so darn happy, this story was about hearts finding each other and dealing with whatever life threw at them to be together. It wasn’t instant love by any means and they had to fight for what they meant to each other - each conversation, each crazy event, bringing them closer. It was sweet, it was wild, and both characters were up for the task. Swayze was a bit quirky, incredibly (wonderfully) snarky and quietly did what she felt was right. Trick was entranced by her, even though he thought he didn’t, and soon he realized what his heart knew along. Swoony stuff, let me tell you…
When I read the blurb I thought I knew what was going to come but, as usual, there were twists and turns galore. One of my favourite series that I hope goes on and on and on…
Swayze and Trick have been through hell and back in their “relationship.” Trick has just gotten out of the military and moved to the reserves to basically be a parent to his special-needs sister when he sees Swayze at a bar. Things just don’t work out for them and Trick ends up in jail for defending Swayze until Lynn springs him 12 years later. Now part of the Souls Chapel Revenants he sees Swayze again and he won’t let her slip through his fingers again. Add a stalker in and a human trafficking ring you get a fabulous story!! I can’t wait for the next installment of this series!!
I don’t swear that much but a big WTF did I just read and why did I go through it even though it went bleh around 40%!!!
It started out great but felt flat towards half of the book. They had chemistry and what I really liked about it was the built up of their attraction to each other but after they spent a night together it felt instafuckinglove.
The heroine’s inner thoughts were about how sorry she was and felt bad for the hero and yet, every time they interact the heroine gets kind of bitchy and sassy.
There was no depth!
And how the hell were they having a lengthy conversation whilst having sex? It takes out the heat of the moment.
And multiple times, they went to the hospital. Broken foot, wounded shoulders and on repeat because apparently , their injuries would not heal due to having “rough sex” and a bleeding cat and many more incidents that would cause them to be back to the doctors ffs. My head was throbbing because at 60% of the book, they were still there. I felt like the story wasn’t moving at all and just went on a loop. Swayze’s foot injury kept getting worst at every other chapter, I started laughing like crazy because it was just so unbelievable. And for the love of miii time and eyes I had to stop reading at 70%.
Trick saw her in a bar, she was the most gorgeous woman he had ever seen. Little did he know that she would alter his life forever. Twelve years later Trick made a deal to join the Souls Chapel Revenants MC to get out of prison. Why was he in prison, because he wronged the wrong people even if the man he was serving time for deserved it.
Swayze owes Trick, she has done everything she can to right the wrongs done to him. She knows he probably hates her but when she sees him again twelve years later she does everything in her power to give his space, even though she wants him more then ever. Trick though is fooling himself thing he can stay away from Swayze and when a few mishaps push them together the stop denying what is building between them, the problem is though someone is determined to hurt the both of them.
I think this might be my favorite series so far. I was not sure how this story would unfold and it surprised me. The story grasps your attention immediately and you don't put the book down until the very end. Chemistry off the chart. Swayze is one of the more interesting female characters, she is harsh and full of sass loved her. Amazing read.
Restrain is not my strong suit with this author. I try to leave it as long as possible so it's not so long till the next one... but it's to much because I give in anyway. Her books are like my addiction!.
Lani has always been a master of deception when it comes to her stories. She has a way of making you believe you know where it's going only for her to turn it around at lightening speed and surprise the absolute Jesus out of you. I've learnt over the many years of reading her books it's best to not try and guess and expect the unexpected. She's a word wizard and nothing is ever as it seems.
Swayze and Trick's journey isn't what you think. Whilst you get a small idea of certain things, I can assure you it's not all as cut and dry as you'd imagine. These two... their journey, it messy and heart breaking on both counts but it's also something so beautiful it will take your breath away.
Swayze is a kick ass heroine who despite everything took charge of her life and became a badass lawyer that would have grown men quivering in their boots if they had to go up against her. She's lived her life with a shadow of guilt overwhelming her and a fierce need to right the wrongs of the past. It's made her hard on the outside and more that willing to spit fire to anyone who wrongs her. Under all that though is a world of hurt and a real sweatness she hides well. I loved her character. She's strong, witty and more than willing to take responsibility for her own actions. She showed tremendous growth through this journey and great character.
Trick had my heart breaking. I should say wrong time and place but really despite everything I don't want to because him and Swayze are end game. I understood his anger, even if at times it was aimed at the wrong person. I loved that even with the anger he couldn't lie to himself about his feelings. I feel like despite everything he went through he came out on top as one hell of a man. His love for his sister melted my heart, I swear. I enjoyed the hell out of his dominant bossy nature and how he took care of those he loved. He too showed tremendous growth in this story and had ALOT to overcome but I feel like everything happened perfectly and his character really shined through here. Honestly he's just fucking delicious.
These two straight up snatched my soul. Their journey isn't pretty. Not by any means and honestly at one point I was crying thinking just give them a damn break. But there is something so fucking beautiful about two people who really have gone through the dark depths of hell and still managed to come out together better. It's bittersweet and frustrating and just downright heartbreaking at times. It's also exciting and hopefully and so fucking swoony I can't even. They prevailed through it all. Through all the raw and ugly. Through all the times they were tested beyond what a person should be tested. That chemistry was fire but the connection between them... it was undoubtable. They were meant to be and I won't have it said other wise. They are fucking fated.
As per Lani not only brings us phenomenal lead characters, she also brings us a whole slew of huge personalities with her side characters and I can't get enough. I am loving this dysfunctional bunch of merry rogues and the secretly sweet sides hidden under all that badass. I adore the ladies Siz, Beckham and now Swayze and I cannot wait for Wyett to come further into the fold. Of course I loved seeing my man Lynn too. Honestly this series just feels so right. I love the whole good guys who do bad things vibe and the darker edge that this series holds. It's still classic Lani with her sassy ladies and dominant and at times overbearing alphas. It has a tonne of witt and some real hilariously outrageous shenanigans that kill me every damn time. It holds that suspense and tension filled climactic build and it also has all the emotions that make you feel like you're in the mits of a breakdown in a fucking wind tunnel. It's a rollercoaster. I was so completely consumed in this book I forgot about life going on around me.. I'm pretty sure my son waged war around the house. It's the kind of story that draws you in immediately and keeps you immersed in their world from beginning to end only to leave you with a whopper of a book hangover after and already mourning the loss of them.
I just fucking loved it. I try to be good when writing these reviews but honestly I could go on forever with these books. Everything from character development to plot progression is perfect and I cannot wait for Doin' A Dime!. Honestly depressed AF that it's 6weeks until the next.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
The first time I saw her was across the room at a bar. I had not idea at the time that she was only sixteen. All I knew was that she was beautiful, she was sending me do-me vibes from across the room, and I was fresh off a deployment were there'd been nobody but men for nine of the longest month of my life. The second time that I saw her was at a court hearing that would decide how long I'd be sent to prison for. She was a cute little curly-haired blonde with wide, expressive eyes, a banging body, and the reason that I'd gone to prison in the first place. The third time I saw her was through a glass divider of the prison visitation room as she waited for her stepfather, my lawyer, to tell me how sorry he was that he lost my case. Especially when I'd been the one to kill the man that was about to kills his daughter. The last time, the time I decided enough was enough, was when I was her at my bar eight weeks after Id' been set free. Unlucky for her, I'd stopped being a good guy about two seconds after those bars closed behind me twelve years ago. Now all that was left was a shell of a man that didn't see the good in anything . Anything except her.
I will warn you now that once you pick up this book you will not be able to lay it down. This is the story of Trick and Swayze and the story they have to tell is not black and white and what you think your going to read is so not what you are going to read at all. The best way to describe their journey is messy and heartbreaking and just absolutely breathtaking. Swayze is a girl that never had it easy in life and things have happened to her that just might tear your heart out. But then she grown up and becomes a lawyer and not just any lawyer. She is fierce and not one to be messed with and has that reputation. But what people don't know about her is that she lives with a lot of guilt and this guilt causes her to want to right all the wrongs of her past. However she has this side to her that is really sweet she just doesn't let people see it.
Trick is so going to steal your heart and his journey will just about have you in tears. He sure had a knack for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. He has this anger in him that is usually aimed at the wrong person but I really can't blame him. But one thing you can't say about him is that he isn't honest. He is always honest even if it hurts. He goes through a lot too but I love that he did not lose himself in everything that he went through. I could go on and about about both of these characters. I really fell in love with them and the story they had to tell. You do not want to miss this book. I love that Lani Lynn Vale writes characters that I never seem to forget and she is one amazing author that I love reading too.
Lani Lynn Vale is an automatic read for me. Any and every book of hers I will read. And this new series of hers is going to be another hit.
This is the 3rd book in this Souls Chapel Revenants series and from the first two books you will know that there are people kidnapping women, and this is what Lynn and his MC is trying to prevent.
Trick met Swayze in a bar and immediately he was attracted to her, but then she was attacked by her father and things just went downhill from there. Now its years later and Trick is a part of the Souls Chapter MC and working with Lynn to find the kidnapped women. And he runs into Swayze again. She is a lawyer now and still just as beautiful as before. But he knows he should stay away from her because she is Trouble.
Swayze feels guilty for what happened to Trick years ago and she blames herself for what happened and even though she knows she should stay on her side she just can’t help being drawn to Trick. But when these two get together it seems strange things are happening and also seems like Lynn and his men are getting closer to figuring out who is putting kidnapping the women in their area.
This was a steamy dangerous suspense story. From the first chapter it was like you were hooked to see what is going on here, and the more you read the more invested you become. Trick and Swayze seemed like they were finally talking and sorting out their issues and then something else happens to put both of them in danger. I love this MC I loved what they are standing are for and I loved that each of them have their own heartbreaking story to tell but also that they putting their lives separate to help uncover this evil in their backyard. I can’t wait for the next book, it seems like we are getting closer and closer to the truth 😊
To say that Trick and Swayze met under strange circumstances is putting it mildly! And what started off to being a promising night ended up so different than either expected… and there’s no love lost between these two. Having said this, their connection and attraction is undeniable.
And so begins the newest book in LLV’s Souls Chapel Revenants book. I FREAKING LOVED this book. Swayze and Trick are a couple that took me on the emotional journey of a lifetime. There’s angst, sorrow, anger, revenge and yes, love between them, although they’re reluctant to admit to it. I became fully invested in their story and everything they had to go through to get to their HEA.
And it’s a hard fought battle they endure to come out on the other side. LLV has a way with her books and stories that have twists and turns and I sometimes wonder if wherever she’s taking us will allow our H/h to find true and abiding happiness because sometimes I’m thinking WTH!! Swayze was a girl when she met Trick and when they “reunite” twelve years later, she’s a full grown woman working hard to right the wrongs of the same system that had put a halt to life as Trick knew it. She’s also determined to get him to understand that her love for him is one that will never end… he just needs to believe in her.
This series is quickly becoming my favorite by Lani Lynn Vale and I cannot wait for the next book!!
Jailbait is book 3 in the Souls Chapel Revenants series by Lani Lynn Vale. This is
Swazye and Trick's 2nd chance at love story. Theirs isn't the unicorns and rainbows love story, nope, it's a hard and at times tragic 2nd chance love story that will have you rooting for this couple. They 1st met when Swazye was 17 and Trick was 21 and fresh from deployment. They had this instant chemistry/ connection between them and from there things just went terribly wrong- Trick did go to prison because of Swazye and for 12 years they were separated from the person who completed the other half of their soul. All that time away from each other. Then when Trick gets out of prison early, he wants nothing to do with her. Talk about feelings of rejection on Swazye's end. Trick and Swazye's journey is quite the emotional rollercoaster. What you think is rejection isn't really. There are several twists going on that go thru til almost the end. I loved the intrigue, action, excitement, passion, 2nd chance romance, humor and the HEA. Swazye and Trick made for great characters!
My Rating: 4.7 stars *********
Another great installment in the Souls Chapel Revenants MC series.
This one was filled with action, thirsty sex, angry baddies, jealous b*tches & tons of memorable chapter titles.
Loved Swayze’s commentary during oral sex with Trick... so hilarious. And the way she cared for Auggie… So sweet. She was spunky & fit in perfectly with the crew of Souls Chapel.
As for Trick… Man, I really like the Heroes in this series so far & Trick is no exception. The way he protected & loved Swayze was swoon-worthy to-the-max. But dude… the Ignacia thing still bugs me.
Eeeeeep! I'm incredibly excited to read more about Crockett & Zach!! I cherish all the little nuggets we’ve gotten about them so far & am already chomping at the bit for more.
Looking forward to the next book in this series, Doin’ A Dime, featuring Wyett & Hunt! Every time the sexy hacker’s name is mentioned I can’t help but get butterflies in my stomach. :)
Side Note: Cannot get over the names of the these main characters. At first, all I could think of was Dirty Dancing & then when I put it together… OMG, that was so much fun! I want another movie themed set of names again!
5 Stars!
Lani has done it again with the swoony newest release and gahhh y'all! I have freaking looked this series and all the couples and books so far but this one, this one might just be my new favorite in this series.
Who knew one look across the bar was going to change everything for these two... forever.
Jailbait (can we drool over that cover for a minute?!) took me on a-- slightly unexpected-- journey I didn't want to end and y'all, just you wait until you meet the Swayze and the Trick in this beauty. I promise the your heart isn't ready for their story or the intense chemistry, connection that the have or how everything will unfold for them.
Jailbait was crazy good and I could not put it down down for a single moment. I can't wait for the next in this series.
I highly recommend this book.
4 Stars!!
Honestly I feel like I say this a lot but LLV writes such good heroines, especially in this series! I really liked Swayze but life really shit on this girl, like a lot. And trick blaming her for being in jail is really messed up, this girl was the victim but she was also a fighter. Once trick got over himself I really loved them as a couple, I mean come on they were apart for 12 years and found their way back to each other. Also, trick was a very sweet alpha, all growly but also just wants to dote on you and buy you flowers. Anyways I seriously love this series, I cannot wait for the next one.
OH and the epilogue was super cute too, LLV is the queen of epilogues!
7/10 would likely recommend
Patrick "Trick" Wheat and Swayze Marrin.
The series is getting better with each edition to the the story. We get a different couple each time, but the same underlying/ongoing plot, which is the reason why all of the men are in Soul Chapel, TX to begin with.
I love that all the women are kickass, and that definitely includes Swayze. She had a sort of swagger about her from the beginning, but after everything that happened on the night she met Trick, she had to be even more badass.
The only thing that I didn't like was the blame Trick placed at Swayze's feet, and the fact that she agreed with him. She did nothing wrong. Should she have told him her age that night? Yes, but she wasn't to blame for the rest.
I really liked both Swazye and Trick, hated that the world seemed to conspire against them at the start, but was also so happy that Trick was there for Swazye when she needed someone. I loved that the two of them meet up again years later, almost by chance. Sure things were a bit rocky at the start, but they couldn't stay away from each other. I also really liked that Swazye was clued into what the MC was really up to and could help in her own way. I loved that these 2 got their best revenge on everyone that did them wrong by living their lives together and happy.
Jailbait was an okay read for me. I loved both characters but something was missing in their story for me. And I really couldn’t figure out what.
Plus, the final dramatic scene with that crazy chick Ig and Trick’s sister felt redundant to me. (Not the "sister & her boyfriend are getting it on” part, the “villainess of the story tries to have her last word” part.)
