Age was....Just a number
by Shaheen Kazi

Category : Fiction
Page : 364
Format : Kindle

The story revolves around a teenage girl Sameera Khan who’s is 15 years old and guess what she falls in love with James who’s almost double of her age ( 32 yrs).

She loves James and goes mad for him, quite a normal thing as she’s a Gullible teenage Girl but James being more mature is totally insensible.
Life takes unexpected turn and that hits Sameera quite hard but their is silver lining like every other Love story 😬.For her Rehan turns out to be that Silver lining. Sameera once totally losts all her fate in love but she discovers it again through Rehan. Life is beautiful you just have to wait for the correct partner.
..
Coming to the Characters and Narration part of the book: frankly, I was not able to connect with any characters but I like Rehan and Harpreet( her best friend).
Their is abrupt Narration between the story which makes It show stopper at times.
The whole story conveys one simple message: “ it’s not About first love It’s about true love”.

I would like to recommend this book to someone who’s starting his/her reading Journey .

The protagonist's lover leaves her and after sometime she falls for another guy called Rehan. The different emotions and phases of loves keeps on pop in up and thus makes the story gripping.

Though the story line was very predictable and slow pace at some points but i like reading it.

We all fall in love. We don't know when we fall in love and for whom. Love never sees an age, colour, caste, religion, and anything. As I love to read a fictional romantic novel and I was searching the best fictional romantic book that will touches my heart and relates to my situation and finally I got a Shaheen Kazi's book Age was Just a number.
Age was just a number is the first romantic novel by Shaheen Kazi. She is an author of the poetry book 'Diary You& Me'. I realized that Shaheen's write-ups are mostly a collection of various emotions about first sight love, first love, incomplete love &pain in love.
She is on 39 levels of her life. She never thought to write a book but sometimes she uses to pen down small poems or Shayari. She loves and learns to do many things. She like cooking, knitting, and singing.
She loves the horror genre and loves to watch horror movies too. In all of our life, something always inspires us the same as Shaheen's failures, losses some incomplete dreams always inspired her more to work hard.
Shaheen's loves to read Ruskin Bond's books. Recently she had completed Rusty and the Magic Mountain by Ruskin. In the horror genre, she excitedly looks forward to G.L.Davies and Joseph Extan's books.
I read many romantic novels but it's my favorite. I last read a book by an author who has been so many countries and who has experienced a variety of things in her life and explored numerous prospectives on love, breakup, etc. when I heard about this book I don't want to lose the opportunity of reading it. Finally, I got a chance to read and review by an author's side and I was too happy and excited to read it. Without wasting my time I started reading it.
It was my first book in which I took many days to finish it. The book is lengthy but I love it because in every chapter I found a twist which creates an interest inside me like what will happen next? And all…..
I went into the flashback of my life as Shaheen wrote here about first love. Yes, we all have a past. Whom we want to forget but we can't forget it. I felt that this story relates to me. Sometimes in our life, we fall in love with a wrong guy which is not suitable for us but for them, we ruin our entire life and start loving them passionately.
"If you can love the wrong person so deeply…..
So how much love you will have for the right person…!"
This Quotation touches my heart. In this book, the author mentioned many quotes that create more beauty in the story. Each quotation contains a very deep meaning.
'Age Was Just a Number' is the story of a teenage girl. The story revolves around a girl named Sameera, James, and Rehan. Teenage is an age when every child faces many changes in their life. Hormonal and emotional changes occur in these phases. We fall in love… feel love, hatred, jealousy, etc. Sometimes a teenager always lives with an attitude to prove something. Some teenagers share their love-life stories. Some talk about their crush. Some have issues over possessiveness or jealousy. Some are dealing with sex issues and so on. This book is all about the phases of age, where you feel your heartbeat and heartbreak for the first time.
At the age of fifteen, Sameera falls in love with a guy who is 17 years elder than her. She started loving him silently and as we all know, silent love does not have words, it has its own language which can only be heard by the person we love…!
The caste and religion between both of them were different. Sameera shares her all feelings with her friend Harpreet. She warned her that James is not a perfect guy for her. Sameera's parents also noticed her that she feels something for James. Her mother scolded and warned her too and said to stay away from James. But whose emphasis is on love…?
Time changes and over time, people and their emotions also change. After some time James leaves Sameera, She feels very sad to hear this news that he left her but she does not say anything to anyone.
Time passes, but the memories in our hearts never disappear. Sameera feels so lonely. In her loneliness, in the silence of the night, she always thinks about him. Not a single day has passed without thinking about James. All the memories with James are still fresh with her, his memories are the only fragrance in her life. She only wants to ask him one simple question why did he betray her love and her trust like this?
After fifteen years Sameera meet a guy named Rehan. They became good friends and started feeling something special for each other. Sameera falls in love with Rehan. It’s normal everyone can fall in love again but Is everyone's first love complicated? Does every first love give you pain?
For knowing the story, you need to turn the pages of the book.
This book is too good and it's full of aversion, love, intimacy, boldness, family care, etc. You will surely enjoy this book.

Age is just a number, it doesn't make any difference. Love is everything that is needed in every age, in every relationship. Love is something that is not perfect. It just needs to be true..!!
And at last for motivating our aspiring writers Shaheen says that I would like to say, Never give up in life, always keep an attitude of earning even from a small kid sometimes you never know who will inspire you to do something in life. Never ever hesitate to learn if you are interested it means you are curious to go ahead ignore all the negative people from your life and do right now what you want to do.
I want to recommend this book to all readers who love to read fictional romance. Apart from them I also want to recommend this to the youth and teenagers.

We all have fallen in love when we were teenagers. Some might regret it now while some have actually been successful in their love. Some may call it puppy love or some may call it pehla pyar. Some might brush it off as innocent crush where as some might call it shiddat vala pyar. Whatever we give it a name it was there for each and every one of us. It was our constant in life. This story will let you relive those moments.
Saga of Sameera and James is one such story except it has one more obstacle in their love life, religion.
I would have liked it better if it focused more on couple. Anyway it was good read. It is beautifully written. Some paragraphs and quotes were really beautiful.

Today I have read some stories of Age Was just a Number is a very interesting book. The author has written the book in such a way that I am able to put it after finishing the book. And I would like to suggest to the people to read this book who are the fan of love stories and experience the pains, troubles, happiness that life provides you.

Age was Just a Number is a story of a tennage girl. One thing is very clear that both birth and death are not in the hands of humans, its natural that if someone has born have to leave this world one day. And the most important thing is that love is not done, it suddenly happens.

In Roman mythology, Cupid is the son of Venus, the goddess of love and beauty. And he is known as the god of affection. Legend has it that Cupid shoots magical gold-tipped arrows at gods and humans alike. By piercing their heart with an arrow, he causes individuals to fall deeply in love.
Cupids Arrow is by Shaheen Kazi is a bouquet of flowers with various fragrances of love. I realised the magic of words and got the feeling of love with the arrow of cupid. A delight for the reader's heart, the book contains almost 23 poems divided in 9 sections according to the themes. All are belonging to love.
My Favourite Poems:
1. Cupids Arrow
2. 14th February
3. Mr. Perfect
Favourite lines:
Your Valentine is your lover. Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate love.
Cupid, The Roman God of Love teeth like pearls, shining like the moon above. Son of Venus and Mars surrounds himself always in between the mysterious stars and sparks.
Husbands are a wife’s shelter from the storms of life.

Romance is in the air, Chocolate Hearts are Enticing, Roses and Greeting Cards are Everywhere. If you really want to be romantic, ignore all the gruesome thoughts and take this book of love to get lost in an aura of eternal Valentine.

Cupid arrows
The name itself signifies pure form of love.
Cupid is a son of Venus, the form of love and beauty. This is considered as the most important part of valentine's Day.

As, the valentine's Day is near, so this book is gonna be the highest read.

Some conversations induce poetry
Some conversations are poetry

This book is full of heart solacing poetries, which will make you miss your lover.

My favourite quote from the book is,
"Valentine's Day is a time for sharing your love with those who are important to you. Not having your other half to share with you doesn't mean, however, that you cannot also participate. Anyone of you must be having one meaningful person in your life, that person can become your valentine surprise to celebrate the love and bonding together."

This book will make you cry remembering your past love, and on the same time smile, if destiny gave you the second chance to love.

Some people, name lust as love, but my dear readers this book differentiate between the touch of lust and touch of love.

Stars in You & Me is a poetry collection having 36 poems on the 12 zodiac signs. The first poem brings forth the personality traits of each zodiac sign, this is followed by two poems specific to personalities of males and females of that zodiac.

I personally love reading about the zodiac, this topic has always fascinated me and I have seen people behaving like their zodiac sign a lot of times, so I do believe in it, however I don't stereotype people based on their zodiac signs and I read about it in a fun and light - hearted way. I never thought that someday this would be presented in poetry, so this collection is quite innovative.

This poetry collection was really fun to read. The author has also shared interesting hashtags based on the characteristics of each zodiac sign as well as a compatibility list. Though the idea behind this poetry collection is quite innovative, the poems were too long and lacked rhythm. Yet, overall I enjoyed reading it as the topic was of my interest.

Book Title: Age was just a number
Author: Shaheen Kazi
Format: Kindle

Book Title:
The title of the book ' Age was just a number ' is astounding and progressive.

Book Cover:
The cover image of the book is a photograph of a couple in silhouette. The picture gives a serene feeling to the readers.

My review:
The story is about Sameera and James. Not only their belief systems are in contrast but also their biological ages. Sameera is mush younger than James, which happens to be the most unusual part of the story. The story is narrated from Sameera's point of view. The readers get to see her growing from a teenage girl to a matured young woman as the story progresses.

Usually, the person who experiences it can explain the difference between infatuation and real love irrespective of caste, creed, Age, colour and anything. This is what I felt while reading Sameera when the character of Sameera was playing in the story.

The story is set in the 90s and this immensely satisfied me because it was that era where romance in books and movies had taken a new a new avenue. The taste of love was admired with unconditional relationships. There were many stories which happened just because it had to happen. Be it in reality or in fiction, the notion of honest love was far different from what exists now. I may sound like an old school, but the character Sameera concurs with my thoughts.

What I like:
1. The plot
2. The narration which was never overrated
3. The energy and dynamism in the characters
4. The story leaves its impact for a long time

What I didn't like:
The story looks compelling but at the same time how far is it safe and peaceful if one seeks their own to be loved and give love; especially in a country where a bond between two people is taken for granted that depends on many factors.

Characters:
There are other characters, also in the story. Every character has had their scope, space and strength to showcase. I will mention about Sameera's character, mostly because it resonates with my teenage life. Whenever I saw her name while reading the story, a smirk was ready on my face as her character reminded me of my young days. Thanks to the author for choosing that aged character. Because of this similarity, I was more keenly involved with the characters, their behaviour and resemblance in general.

The emotions or the feelings portrayed by these characters is immensely satisfying. There are some places where a reader enters into James and Sameera's world and lives.

Harpreet is one of the essential characters in the story. It is with her directly, or indirectly the story takes little changes. Her dialogues and conversations though intense in thoughts are also realistic.

Narration:
An engaging, shocking, thrilling and romantic narration is found in the story. Though the story starts slowly and on a slightly sad tone in the initial chapters, it gains momentum when the theme of unconditional and real love sinks in the reader's mind that is explained through the characters. As the story is very different from the familiar fictional love stories, the story may not be appealing to many readers. Having a relationship out of a huge age gap is not so well appreciated for many reasons usually, but when one thinks with a rational mind, the story looks very pleasing. How such uncommon relationships are mentioned, carried by the characters and made sure of convincing the readers with useful storytelling techniques with an exciting narration is incredible. A book of 350+ pages just flew through. The power of words and their quantitative credibility is seen in this book.

Language & Grammar:
The language used in the story is polished and non-controversial. The language constructs used in between the information, be it some statements or quotes or poems are made up with quality language. Nowhere a reader will be uncomfortable reading the matured content in the story.

My Final Verdict:
An immensely matured, unique, yet beautiful story of love!

Book Title: 3/5
Book Cover: 3/5
Inside the book: 3/5
Characters: 3/5
Narration: 3/5
Language & Grammar: 3/5
Final Rating: 3/5

The Readera Review of age was just a number | Genre Romantic fiction

Age was just a number by Shaheen Kazi is a work of romantic fiction. Story of a teen who fell in love with a person who is seventeen years older than her age. This book is about all the different phases of a teenage life. When he first get involved with someone romantically. From love at first sight to heartbreak for the first time. It's about all the lessons one can only learn through falling in love.

Sameera was enjoying the party when suddenly her eyes got stuck on a young handsome guy James , the son of Mr. And Mrs. Rodriguez their family friends. It was clearly love at first sight for her.

When she opened up about her feelings for James in front of her father , even her father don't have any issue with their relationship except their religion. Since James is Christian and Sameera is Muslim.

Do they lived happily ever after?

" Sam are you OUT OF YOUR MIND? you are in love with a MAN, not a BOY ,oh! My god something is seriously wrong with you.

This is an emotional , romantic journey of love and loss. Age was just a number is Shaheen Kazi's second book and what I found out after completing this book is " attention to details" parts of this experience may have been told before but never with such freshness, intensity and power. World building and character building is done Amazingly by the author.

What's something you always wanted to do as a child but never got to do it?

Age was just a number but the real meaning of the name of the book ( I think ) as per it's title name, as per the story. Within that age, we have gotten number of herts, heartbreaks, number of live events, face number of good and bad movements in life, at last number of experiences,
So age is not just a number it's the collection of whole life events 🎫

I Always Love Mythology Over Romantic Stories Because I don't Think There are such Things Like Love.
My Friend Once Told me that She Liked This Novel Too much and she constantly reminded me that you should this Book Then I bought Book.
The Book Writing style is Good. The story is True Hero in this Novel.
I Don't Want to give Spoiler but many scenes in this book are stellar. (Emotionally To reach that level) Is hands Down.
Well Written Novel.
During the time when I was reading this book. It made me a part of this story. Really enjoyed it and made I laughed a lot in some situations.
It was a really good read but I do recommend it to teens and older, I enjoyed the book and am probably going to get the other book written by the Author. I can't wait to read the other one If you see this review do read the book itit'seally fun and exciting and a bit embarrassing in parts as it you're really there, it brings you into the story as if you're really in it that's one of the reasons I like it so much and I think lots of others would like it as well.
I like the storyline, ending... Everything is so well managed and well placed. Generally, I am a slow reader... But this book takes only two days to finish. If you are asking me.

This is a story about a 15 years old teenage girl called Sameera Khan, who falls in love with a guy called James, who's 32 years old. This book emphasizes the mistakes or rational decisions teenagers make. It also puts forth the value of first love and first heartbreak.

Personal take:
I loved the character of Harpreet (Sameera's best friend) more than the protagonist. I liked Rehan too but I hated James as I found him to be a toxic person.
If you are a beginner you would enjoy it and also if you are a teenager then you could read this too as you'll learn a few things about love and heartbreak and how it is totally alright to go through these phases. I loved the idea which the author put forth that true love or your soul mate will eventually find a place in your life no matter how long it takes and no matter how many times you go through a heart break.
Although it is written in simple language, this book has few spelling mistakes. It was an okay-ish book for me since I couldn't relate to it at all.

Quote, I loved: "A good relationship does not depend on how good understanding you have, it only depends on how you can avoid any misunderstandings."

It’s a romance genre novel and I found it on rainy days. So it was simple, romantic and cozy read for me. And book has been set up in 90s era, it starts around 1994. So that stole my heart. After a long I picked up any book based on teenage characters. And I liked how author has described types of teenagers. I liked Sameera’s character. Author has perfectly portrayed how teenagers can be in a dreamland and how parents are agitated with all teenage stuffs. I also liked the cliche teenage conversations between Sameera and James. Certain things surely reminded me of my teenage life. As I said, the book is simple and cozy read. It’s written in simple and easily understandable language so that everyone can pick it up. It’s a huge book but I finished in two days. Because I was nostalgic at certain points as more or less, everyone have done certain things in their teenage lives plus in 90s. 90s era is nostalgia for everyone. The narration style of the author is captivating. Overall good one. Recommended.

Age was....just a number, is a story of teenage girl, Sameera. She falls in love with a guy who is 17 years elder than her. She silently love that person, James.

Teenage is the most dangerous thing in everyone life. Because of the hormonal changes teenage life will be a risk full.

In this teenage we can't hear others words, even don't know the meaning of love and like. Teenage children always falls in infatuation not a love but that is feel as first love.

Same here, Sameera met a James at the birthday party and she falls in love with him. She loved him silently. In love silent always gives the sweet pain, just enjoy that moment. Dream full life.

When Rehan enters in to her life, he totally change her. How she changed and what happened in the end? Just grab a copy and know yourself.

The story contains lot of emotions. Author predicts the storyline in the beautiful way.

"I never loved anyone as much I loved you, you left me all alone to suffer the whole way in blue. I love to stay alone in the darkness, where would I find some kind of happiness ?”. — Shaneen Kazi

'Age Was Just A Number' is a story of a 15 year old teenage girl named Sameera who falls in love with a 32 year old man called James. There are love for each other was pure and deep but may be destiny has different plans for them.

It is been a long long time, I haven’t read any love stories and I must say this book deserves a ‘Wow’. The author has amazingly sketched Sameera’s character. Being a teenager I could relate so much with her. The story is beautifully penned and the language is lucid. This book shows a clear picture of teenage and adulthood, the mistakes we make and the mixed emotions we go through at both the ages. Overall, it was a good read for me and I recommend it to love story lovers or YA Fiction lovers. I would rate it 4.7⭐/5⭐

Age was..…just a number authored by Shaheen Kazi is a love story of Sameera, how she found her perfect soul partner.

Story revolves around Sameera, her parents, her bestie Harpreet, her teen love track with James in ninety's and finding her Mr. Perfect when she is in her thirties, Rehan. Know more about each of them, bond between them, how they met and acquaintances, reasons for James moving away, how did Sameer cope being single, how she met Rehan, how difficult was it for her and blossoming of love, how it ends, read to know answers to before and more.

It involves love track, friendship, family drama. Characters are relatable, about Sameera felt sad reading about how her first love track ends but happy how story takes turn for good and the way it ends. Felt the book is a little lengthy but OK I guess.

A good entertaining read and would recommend it to all who enjoy reading love fictions.

Sameera was 15 when she first saw James at a birthday party. She knew it was love at first sight but this feeling was new to Sameera. It is not always that destiny works in your favour but to her surprise James too started developing feelings for her.

But she is only 15, and he is 32 year old. Apart from that James was a Catholic and she a Muslim. Would the age gap play a major role for their love for each other or is it just another teenage infatuation? Find out in this novel by author Shaheen Kazi.

This book is a great attempt at coming of age teenage romance. The character development of Sameera was well written, from being blind in love to finally standing up for herself. Side characters were great too, Harpreet and Rehan.

Age gap is a sensitive topic when it comes to societal views but the author has done a great job putting it out. Give it a try.

' Nothing is greater than life. Nothing is more precious than the gift of life. Everything is attainable in this life, but not life itself.'

One's first love isn't always the last and true one. It may not be the person you first date or take to meet your parents. First love may not be for forever but it doesn't leave your heart and you can never forget that.

Teenage is a very crucial time , when we experience most 'firsts' of our life. First love, first heartbreak, trust issues, crush, friends over family issues and the list goes on.

Sameera was a beautiful, talented teen girl when she met James in a birthday party. He was 17 years older than her. Love is not only blind but also deaf. Despite of everyone's warnings, Sameera fell in love with James and got her heart broken. It's more than difficult to get over one's first love and first heartache.
.
Many of us can relate to the story.
.
Storyline is beautifully presented with wonderful plot twists and elegant language.

Purchase
Sameera at the age of 15,falls in love with James who's 32 at that time, but the feelings were mutual. They were unconditionally in love despite all the challenges they've to face. But it don't end up in a good way. Fifteeen years later, after all those grief and regret, Sameera finds happiness in Rehan. But this isn't the end.
The author have used a good narration in bringing up the overall plot. The characters are nicely brought up, with good character build up. The transitions and all the events are nearly written and it clearly picturises the events. The language used is simple and neat. Overall a nice read.

Love is about emotion and any emotion is not bond of age. In the light of this statement, the book unfolds with all time favourite theme of writing. The book does not give you unique story but its way of expressing this beautiful theme keep readers engaged till the end of the story.
The story depicts a teenage girl with teenage feelings and her psychological ambiguity during this age. It tries to depict the entire teenage emotional journey on which most of the people have desire to go on. The story explores pain, infatuation, temporary emotions and its psychological repercussion that remains forever in our conscious. The book also discusses caste and religious factors and how it plays role as source of pain and obstacles.
Sometime the story is easily predictable but still nobody would think to miss single line as it is written in very qualitative way using engaging beautiful phrases. Ultimately the book ends with a philosophy that is the title of the book “Age was..…just a number.” Overall it is very beautiful romantic story that contains all required spices of emotions.
