This book has a great outline, but could use a bit more meat, especially since it’s aimed at community leaders who are not economic development professionals. Many of the concepts mentioned rely on the reader having a bit of base-knowledge in the subject and overall, this feels more like the transcript of a talk than a stand-alone book. Additionally, the formatting of the physical book is not ideal and should be reviewed before further printing (large font with tiny margins made it difficult to follow).

Contains some interesting info and is a decent 30,000 foot view of economic development, but I really wish there was some more meat on the bones. The book is just shy of 100 pages and contains mostly surface level material.

A must read.

I have been practicing economic development for almost a decade now. This book was a good refresher and provided examples of communities to look into.
