After so many years of chasing down men for power, Krystal has decided to become a better person by finding the perfect match for Lily's brother. She meets her own match when she learns that the girl of his dreams is being controlled by an evil stepmother using illegal magic in this reimagining of "Cinderella."
Lisa Dawn was brought up in New Jersey, where she fell in love with fairy tales and animated movies. She studied screenwriting at Ramapo College in the hopes that she could one day write the next great animated princess movie. After attending the DAVE School in Florida to learn computer animation, she moved to Los Angeles to work on 3D movies as a rotoscope artist. Today, she lives in Texas with her husband, Derrick, and runs The Princess Blog at www.theprincessblog.org.
This cute Cinderella retelling was sweet and clean. I loved the magic in the world that the author created, and the crazy twists that kept happening throughout! The clueless actions of the characters sometimes frustrated me, but I was able to hang in there and watch the main character grow from the family scapegoat into a heroine! Such fun!
I admit I was a little surprised at first when I found out that the final installment of Lisa Dawn's The Stolen Trilogy was going to be a retelling of Cinderella. That particular fairy tale has been retold so many times, in so many ways, that it seemed there was nothing new to be said on it, but this fresh and engaging take on the age-old tale exceeded my expectations. One of the most important character arcs in the trilogy is the gradual redemption of Lady Krystal, who began the trilogy as a shameless and self-absorbed social climber who would stop at almost nothing to increase her royal status, including betraying her longtime loyal friends. This book shows Krystal finally starting to learn that there's more to life than wealth and status, and that helping others can be rewarding as she finds herself in the role of unlikely fairy godmother, discovering her own talents and finding true love in an unexpected place along the way. Highly recommended for fans of young adult fairy tale/fantasy lit.
