I stole her from her life. I’ll go even further to keep her in mine. She was a job. Nothing more. Nothing less. I took her from the party. It wasn’t personal. It was a contract. Grab her, head to the safehouse, and wait for the ransom. Scarlett is so gentle, so trusting. She doesn’t know that men like me exist. Doesn’t know the brutal nature of this world. Me? I come from a world of violence. I’m a killer. I prey on nightmares and make them come true. If you cross me, I kill you. So when her father decided not to pay, word comes down that I’m supposed to torture her. If he still doesn’t cough up the cash, I’m supposed to kill her. I won’t hurt this fiery angel. I crave her. Me, a monster that could never be what she needs. Who can never settle down. I can’t just do the job and destroy her. No, I have to make her mine. Forever. The way this thing is going down… it’s going to be either her love. Or her life.

Sooo... this book was pleasant to read, steamy and quite adventurous BUT it had me rolling my eyes every now a then... ¬ Wealthy men wear Bruno Magli shoes. ¬ Podcasts are recorded in coffee shops ?! ¬ Innocent girls wear slutty outfits, because you can't go at a rave without showing cleavage and booty... ¬ "Daddy" kink! wannabe... seriously?
On a side note: I wouldn't consider Will and Scarlet's story a dark romance.
Paige took a page from Angela Carter's reimagined Red Riding Hood The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories by making Scarlett an active agent during her encounter with the wolf. I've read so so so so (read: 1000x) much about red riding hood (studies in a past life), and I'm pleased to say this short story surprised me. I like it when "little red" has more to offer besides the color of her hood and a corruptible innocence. She can get out of knots *and* recognize when she is the protagonist in her own story.
I don't know what it is about this book, but it was literally everything I wanted and more, as soon as I started it I knew that I was going to be in trouble... The character development within this book and manliness of this man is literally perfecto :)
"I can tell you've never been with a real man" I actually thought I was gonna Puke when I read that- and of fucking course they're gonna be in love as soon as they fuck ONCE. And the daddy kink just makes shit so much worse- and since when the fuck did we agree that "rod" is an acceptable way to say "dick" and can we please vote again because what the hell is that?? But like in general.. does this author know what it's called? Because sometimes they seem like a 14 year old girl who is giggling gossip to her friends with how many code names that are used. Don't even get me started on how this is "dark romance" istg it's essentially just the kidnapping and the "kinks" this book is essentially just them having sex..
I enjoyed this as a quick spicy read. The sex scenes were really well written but I found a lot of moments very *eye roll*. Also my first mafia dark romance and will not be my last!
Meh. It started at the bottom when she was recording a podcast at a coffee shop - wth? And it also ended at the bottom. If you read the book, you know 👀
If you’re trying to fulfill your reading goal it’s not a bad book, I don’t get the possessiveness besides he try’s to protect her. I wish there was just more from this but it’s a short 180 pages erotica that was okay. I did like the characters though and how they are portraying to “fairytales”.
I was willing to give this a try. I was intrigue with the blurb, even thru the first few chapters. But then it just started get ridiculous.
I was willing to overlook the shady 'Firm' that does illegal things to get what it wants for the 'good' of the plot. I rolled my eyes when Scarlett podcasted in a public cafe and then the author proceeded to go about how Scarlett was hit-on by the waiter multiple times and it annoyed her (ahh, don't do a podcast in public, duh!?!). But it then started to get really ridiculous when this entitled heiress who hates everything her father stands for (yet is still willing to take is money to afford to Upper East apartment), keeps hitting on her captor. Her kidnapper makes her a gourmet meal and bits her clothes. He talks to her about his life and past. Then she demand a shower!!! And this is all by page 43. And it was all downhill from there.
This story had me rolling my eyes and saying 'oh please' so much I was wondering if it was a fantastic joke - no real substance. I hate to be so harsh, but this was one of those books that I would have total would have lost interest if it wasn't an ARC.

Everyone should decide for themselves but this really wasn't for me.
It was just all so ridiculous, in my opinion. I forced myself to read through 50% and then I decided to give up. I can't force myself to read books I don't enjoy anymore.
It was an easy read - meaning it was super simple with no emotion so you could quickly read through the book if you wanted to. However, I feel like the author probably should have stuck with only the female POV and not gone for dual POV. It didn't work for me at all. I feel like the male POV was coming from a 16 year old girl. I hate saying that but it just didn't work for me; it didn't seem like a 30 something year old bad guy that does questionable activities. Not at all.
Also, the blurb is very misleading. I didn't get any "dark" or "raw" from what I read. Their interactions were like watching a middle school dance and one of the kids getting enough courage to approach their crush.
This wasn't anything special. Kidnapping, instant love, very loose little red riding hood and big bad wolf allusions. Wouldn't particularly call it dark. Will is more of a bad guy because he's from a family of bad apples than anything. But everything that's lack luster about the book provides no saving grace for the issues.
For one, holy racist stereotypes. "Navajo Joe" is just as bad as it sounds. From his "rust red skin" to the arrow he carries around, to his one weakness being gambling, to putting a bottle of whiskey in his hand when he's knocked out. The author didn't even do a surface glace at the culture of Diné. It's just a solid chapter to see how many stereotypes can be jammed in. It was hard to get through, and the ending was not worth it at all.
Two, if you're going to make guns a central thing, at least google once or twice. The standard issue rifle for the US military is the M-16, not the AR-15. AR does not stand for assault rifle. It stands for ArmaLite Rifle. A gun heiress who grew up with them can't spot the profile of her family's rifle? Can't spot anything that would make their models distinctive? And for a book that wants to harp on gun control, it doesn't offer up a single argument for it. Anyone whose going to be alienated by the argument likely gave up once the topic of gun control even came up. There are a lot of passing references to statistics and other things that could be sewn together as an argument, but it's never stated as one. If the author had shown half the commitment to one of the contributing factors of the plot as she did to a throwaway racist caricature this book would have faired a lot better.
And surrounding all of this is just, mediocre everything. There's nothing special about this book. I just finished it and I already can't recall half of what happened because there wasn't a lot that happened in the first place. She gets kidnapped, they go to the beach house, they go to the yacht, they go to his grandma's house, they confront her father, then confront his family, and HEA. They both admit to falling in love in two days. Her attitude about being kidnapped flips on a dime. That's basically everything.
Up until Navajo Joe shows up, it's nothing bad, it's just nothing good either. Once he shows up, there's literally nothing saving this.
💣💣ONE FANTASTIC ADVENTURE💣💣 Holy hellhounds! The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and vivid descriptions creating an elaborate backdrop that makes the storyline explode. Fantastic job Vivi, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
So this was insta-love and OTT but in the best way possible.
If you're looking for an escape read and like the bodyguard/mobster/opposites attract trope than this baby is going to be right up your alley!
Scarlett finds herself kidnapped and held for ransom by a surprisingly moral character. But she knows, even if her gentleman kidnapper doesn't, that her father would happily let her disappear before paying to rescue her. When you're anit-guns and her family owns a gun business, things tend to be pretty intense around the dinner table.
Will had a rule. No women and no children. But when he has to prove to his family that he is back for good and earn their trust back, he reluctantly agrees to take on what was supposed to be a simple babysitting job.
But this kidnapping turns into a set up and Scarlet becomes more than the mark. She's the one thing Will is willing to risk his life and his position in the family to keep safe.
Getting chased, shot at and ambushed from every direction will push them both to the limit but when you have someone willing to have your back, unconditionally, anything is possible, right?
Highly recommend :)

My first by this author and I'll be back for more! Will left the family 'firm' and joined the services but to get back in he has to take this job collection and babysit or in his world a kidnapping. The irony that Scarlett's dad owns a gun manufacturer company when she vlogs about gun control. The last thing Scarlett expected at a fairytale themed rave dressed as little red riding hood was to be kidnapped by the big bad wolf. But it seems the 'firm' greatly under estimated Scarlett's worth to her father, after she cost him million on lawsuits from her podcast revelations. The chemistry sizzling between the two is undeniable and they soon become more than just kidnapper and captive. When Scarlett's father refuses to pay, Will's brother tells him to upt the anti to force his hand in paying her ransom but instead he decides to take matters into his own hands and vows to protect Scarlett no matter the cost, especially as things start to add up as to who ordered the kidnapping. Filled with action, suspense, drama, desire, romance and hot scenes! A twist on the red riding hood tale

The story line was good but the main character was a bit too shallow for my liking. The story has suspense, kidnapping, action packed chases, twists and turns, betrayals and hot steamy love.
Scarlet, (Little Red Riding Hood) is a shallow entitled heiress hates what her father does but has no problem living off the money he makes. She gets kidnapped by Will ( Big Bad Wolf) for ransom as part of him proving himself to the family "firm" during a themed rave party. She keeps hitting on her kidnapper, gets sassy with him, demands a shower which she uses to escape but was quickly captured again, before they give in to the instant lust and attraction they have. Unbeknownst to the firm, Scarlet's father had enough and continuously refuses to pay leaving Scarlet at the mercy of her kidnappers. When will refuses to hurt Scarlet, things get heated and the lovers have to run while being chased down by Russians and the family. Some shocking revelations when they figure out the reason behind Scarlet's kidnapping. It was a good read, with a HEA.

A wolf in Sheep's clothing? The characters Scarlett and Will have great chemistry even though their beginning introduction is not conventional. Will is having a tough inner dilemma with the situation that his brother has put him in and Scarlett has a bit of daddy issues. If you are looking for a remake of Red Riding Hood, this is not it, it is a good story, but it is not a retelling. Scarlett's family is in the gun business and she has a podcast against everything her family stands for. Will has been betrayed by his older brother and he decides to leave his family business and enlist in the military, when he is back he wants to be part of his family security business and his mission is to kidnap Scarlett, it is a case of instant-love and Will is instructed to kill Scarlett and he is against it, they have to work together to escape the people who were sent to after them to kill them, loved the book!

✨✨✨✨✨✨ This audiobook I ate up in one sitting! I did enjoy both these characters. It had the adventure/suspense that had me just needing to know what was going to happen next. At some points I was definitely smirking at the way things were described. The insta love in this one though was written perfectly! Scarlett finds her kidnapped and being held for ransom. Will has to earn trust back from his family so he is on this baby sitting job. Let’s just say it definitely doesn’t end up the way they both thought it would. Overall totally recommend this one!

First of all, I don't like when romances become political soapboxes. No matter if the views are ones I agree with or not, I can't stand it because one reason I read romance is to get a break from the real-life constant political discourse.
With that being said, I found the FMC to be a horrible daughter and hypocritical. She disagreed with her dad, but she was more than happy to use his money, that he gained in ways she said she disagreed with. Also, the things she did went beyond disagreement and trying to do what's right. She was irresponsible and did dangerous, immature things.
Beyond that, this book did not flow well. The relationship development was non-existent and the feelings between the main characters seemed hollow.
If this was my first book by this author, I probably would not continue this series, however, I did read a book from this series years ago and enjoyed it (giving it 4 stars.) I hope this just happens to be a miss for me and that the rest of the books are enjoyable.
Wow! What an exciting read that surpassed the typical mob based romance. Scarlett was the unloved black sheep of her wealthy gun producing family. Kidnapped for ransom and used as a pawn for Will to regain a place in his family, this couple fall for each other in spite of their captor/captive roles. I liked the way the showed Will’s internal battle when it came to Scarlett and her safety. Scarlett was a worthy adversary and proved to be strong and resourceful when the going got tough! Lots of fast paced action that was surprisingly entertaining in the midst of twists and turns, betrayal and battered loyalties. The steamy scenes between this fiery couple got raunchier and raunchier, peppered with intense BDSM themes as their relationship grew. Not a fan of the lack of retribution dealing with her father as I really wanted to see him suffer and suffer badly.

It was definitely more sweet... not what I anticipated. Too mushy? Sometimes. Did I wish it was darker? I think with a plot like this—definitely. I can see it being really fucking good.
The ending got me kinda bored. Like the last two chapters. That sucks. I dunno why.
Also, Scar... like she lives off her dad (as I gathered), yet she hurts his business... which is the money she lives on. I mean, yeah—you can have opinions different from your family, but her politic cause, in my opinion, doesn't mean much to me if she literally lives off the thing she despises. Just saying. If her podcast listeners knew she lived off of gun money... I mean, if it smells like a hypocrite... Though all I remember is Will questioning her about where her fancy shit/shit in general comes from, and it was obvious that it was from her father's money... I can't remember if she retorted that she didn't do that anymore or anything.
This book held so much potential! After reading the synopsis, I couldn’t wait to jump right in. It just a didn’t pan out for me despite the wild action. We had kidnappings, high speed chases, and hot bedroom scenes. However, the characters fell flat and the author needs a thesaurus. Scarlett seemed pretty shallow. She detested Daddy’s job, but had no problem living off of his money. Will seemed vulnerable and weak in every action situation, despite all of his “training”. If I hear the word “harsh” or any version of it, it will be too soon. Spoke harshly, breathed harshly; we need a new word. The ending was more of a HEA for now. I would like to see this couple in a few years, after the novelty has worn off.

I have to applaud Vivi Paige. This book had me cracking up because it was cringy to the point it was funny? I was cracking up at some of the parts. One line was “He pranced across the dance floor like he was in a hip hop video.” Like girl you are killing me. Also applaud that she actually used the work “cock” 🤣. Most books they prance around it and Vivi is just like “COCK COCK COCK COCK COCK.” The spice scenes are also great the butt stuff in the end also gets me every time. This book was so entertaining in my opinion. I also enjoyed the end that it’s not “oh they got married and had a kid” it’s like “they are in love and did butt stuff.” Like I don’t really need to know anymore about them 🤣🤣. You better believe I am going to listen to the other audio books available by Vivi.

His Little Red. This book is from an author I never read before but I was interested in her take on dark romance. I was surprised at the story. It begins as a kidnapping to obtain money and for the "big bad wolf" to get back in the good graces of his family. As time goes on, the scenario changes because "little red riding hood" takes a liking to her captor. The plot thickens when the deal with her father somehow doesn't go as plan. I enjoyed the story more than I thought I would because the characters were different and surprising. Good read! This book was fun. It was a fast read, and doesn’t leave the reader guessing for long. There’s action, suspense and even some mystery. If you’re looking for something fast paced, this is definitely a book for you!
Will and Scarlett have explosive chemistry, and the smut starts quick. I loved it, every minute of it. At first, Scarlett seems like quite the princess but readers soon find out that she’s tougher than she looks. I loved Scarlett and Will together, the witty banter and chemistry made this so fun to read.
This book did not dwell on the details. Sometimes it’s refreshing to read a book that’s quick and to the point, and this was definitely one of those. I feel like it really worked for Will and Scarlett’s story.
this book was.... not good the whole story takes place over like 5 days. FIVE. I thought there was going to be more to the "little red"/ red riding hood like the title suggests, but no, she just wore a costume to a party and thats really it. I'm not into insta-love that is THIS INSTANT. i cannot get my thoughts together on all the ways i disliked this book
OH her worried about getting dehydrated because of how wet she was??? are you kidding me??? does she have Niagara Falls in her pants or something, cause thats how its written.
Also the racism with the "Navajo Joe" character was absolutely nauseating.
I regret listening to this book and wish I had the ability to DNF books, but here we are 5 hours later
This is not a bad book, but at times, the writing is immature and unrealistic. Rich h kidnapped by rich H, who is part of a family organisation, which he is the black sheep in, and we dont really get to know much about. Her father is portrayed as a real piece of work, but he supports her even though she's trying to bring him down. Story was OK, believable? Mmmm not really, they fall in love very quickly following some very spicy scenes. I'm guessing the author was going for 2 broken people finding each others soul mates, but neither was really that broken to begin with. His girlfriend chested on him with his brother, and she hates her dad. It lacked believability and was ridiculous at times. It didn't flow well, and I found myself eye rolling at times.

If this book is for you, then it’s for you. This book was definitely not for me. The plot was…lacking. The characters? Also lacking.
If you’re into Stockholm Syndrome-ing your kidnapper then this is probably your speed. She gets kidnapped and then less than 12 hours later she is super into him and not trying to get away? Nice. Super relatable. Oh and let’s not forget that this is supposed to have subtle hints of “Little Red Riding Hood”. It does. SUPER SUBTLE.
The action is meh. The sex isn’t awful but comes off super cringey considering the situation. I don’t know how many times I rolled my eyes or audibly cringed but it was enough to be a full fledged workout.
Again, if this is your thing, you’ll love it. Me? Nah fam. That ain’t it.
