1880’s Colorado – an unforgiving land with even more unforgiving people. Gesa Sloan, the eldest daughter of three and a New York City socialite, has never been able to make her parents proud. But an offer for her hand in marriage to the handsome and successful William Robb changes everything.
Now headed to Colorado with her family, reality crashes around Gesa, teaching her that no one is rarely as they seem, and if you need something done, you need to do it yourself.
Or so she thought.
Battling for her and her sisters’ very lives, Gesa is thrown into a world she doesn’t understand with a man from her past, Charles, whom she thought she had forgotten. But the mind and heart rarely reconcile when you’re fighting for all you hold dear.
Gesa Sloan is the type of person I'd be friends with. She's strong, smart, and determined, but most importantly, she'll do anything for the people she loves, and that's the trait that carries her from NY society to the wilds of Colorado and beyond. Some of her experiences were hard to read, but they were important because they made her the person she is by the end of the book. I also couldn't get enough of the Charles!
You will absolutely be swept up in this historical adventure!
