The Punishment Pit #6

Protecting It All

Rate this book
“Perfectly vicious, irresistibly hot, and completely addictive, this book wrecked me and had me cursing it and recommending it in the same breath!”

Never play with a monster.

Just when the future starts to look bright, the mistakes of Brianna’s past come back to haunt them, dragging all the girls into the darkness.

There’s no mercy inside Jake Davenport. He’s the devil, the monster in the shadows, and the harder the men work to protect their submissives, the hungrier he gets.

Every scream brings him joy, each moment of fear feeds him, and there’s no turning back now. The game has already begun, and the only way everyone survives is if they win.

But what will winning cost them?

Well Livia Grant certainly saved the best until last. Or at least last for now since a "series 2" is already in the pipeline.

I've had my ups and downs with this series, so it was a great relief to end on a truly big "up". The fact that this book didn't really include much D/s or BDSM seems very telling. Generally I enjoy the author's style of writing, but I did find myself agreeing with one reviewer who spoke of how the punishments seemed more important than the welfare of the submissive. I get that this is fiction, and clearly many readers have enjoyed the books, I just struggled with the men never seeming to atone for their wrongs yet going over the top in their punishment of the submissive for the slightest transgression. Particularly given that one was pretty much still a sub-in-training.

However I'm digressing form Protecting It All, which is a great romantic suspense and even though it was insta-love I still found myself believing in Dylan and Hannah's emotions. Probably more so Dylan but that's because he's already a little obsessed by Hannah before she's even really acknowledged his existence. Whilst we do get some Lukas/Marcus/Tiffany/Brianna scenes, most of the book was either from Dylan or from Hannah's POV, so it gave it a bit of a "spin off" feel. Maybe that's why I enjoyed it more, I wasn't carrying any previous baggage for the two MC's of this book.

I am wondering if you could read this one stand alone. A part of me thinks that you could, but I've read the other books so can't be sure. I really did enjoy this one though, and I do recommend it.

This series has been absolutely perfect and Protecting It All was, hands down, the best of the series. It was intense with every breath and this story was so well written, the characters were written so you either love them or hate them. But Jake was the only character that I despised without guilt!
I look forward to more stories in The Punishment Pit series!

Now this is a surprise!
I was waiting for this, but what I got here is a crime novel with all the trimmings!
The hunt for Jake is on!
I devoured the whole thing, until about twenty pages before the end my eyes started to itch and burn and I had to go to bed. At 3:30 am!!!
So I finished this morning, with my breakfast! I got so hooked into the story again, getting angrier every time Jake slipped through their fingers, hoping they'd finally, finally get the ba§tard, I have no idea what I ate!
But!!!
The ending put a nice bow on it. For me it could have been even longer to make up for all the nastiness I had been put through!!!
The only fly in the ointment is, I don't want this to end! I do hope you have plans for all the other couples Ms Grant!!!???
You have to! Say yes!

Have you ever read a series that kept you on pins and needles on one side of the spectrum and had you climbing the walls while fanning yourself from the chemistry on the other? I've been so hooked on this series!! I'm not normally a violent person but if anyone other than me or my maker were privy to my thoughts on what needed to be done to Jake they would be shocked!! He's a slime ball and you have no idea the range of emotions this creep put me through. I wanted him caught, I wanted him hurt, I wanted him ended … and yet, I hated that it had to end. So I'm begging you Ms. Grant to please, please, please continue the story with the other couples as thoroughly. This was a kicka$$ book and an epic series.

This series has been a roller coaster! I absolutely FLOVED this book! It had all the drama and suspense! I absolutely think that Livia Grant did AMAZING making us HATE Jake! And bringing that plot line of the story to a close was definitely after what Livia puts us through at the beginning of the book!

Dylan and Hannah are interesting couple because they can't explain their feeling but just know what they feel to be true! I think Hannah has this amazing strength that no one except Brianna can fully understand because of their shared experiences!

If you want a book that will make you yell at Livia in your car during your lunch break, curse, cry, and cheer all at the same characters then this the perfect book and great wrap up to the series!

Finally, the conclusion to this series that has been a long time coming towards a happily ever after for Bri and Markus, Lukus and Tiffany, and Now Hannah and Dylan. the time has finally come for Jake to get his due. This book is a bit grittier in the details of how mentally deranged Jake is. He most definitely is a villain.

I have been on the fence back and forth with this series. I struggled with certain aspects of the story and it took a while to get to the point where I could let my feelings not get in the way of the story. I got my wish in this book for a connection to be had. Even though the story was mainly told from the perspective of Hannah and Dylan this time, it was nice to care about the other characters and their stories, especially, as it was intertwined all together. This author is a pro at creating a story filled with details to give her audience a chance to figuratively live through the characters' experiences.

Even though I was invested in what was going to happen, it felt very rushed, especially, toward the end. For a series that has been building off of Jake and what he has done, I would have hoped that it was a little more fleshed out. Even though it did happen fast, I still liked that there was a resolution, even if it wasn't as detailed as I had hoped. Despite this six-book series not being my favorite thing that she has written, I still highly recommend this author.

I have to say, this series and this book are just so incredible! It deserves so much more than a five star rating. This story continues with the main focus on two characters, Dylan and Hannah. Dylan is helping with security for Lukus as Hannah becomes the latest target for the evil Jake. Hannah doesn’t realize what kind of a person Jake is and Dylan finds that he just wants to protect her.

Of course this book also has my favorites in it, like Markus and Brianna, and Lukus and Tiffany, who I fell in love with while reading the other books in this series. Everything comes to a head in this story. My heart hurt so many times for the things Jake does, but I kept hoping that his end was near.

I hope that this isn’t the end to this series as there are so many characters that stories could be told about. I’m so invested in this series and am in awe of this authors talent. I loved each and every book and this one is just utter perfection.

Be prepared for some extreme emotions when you read this book it is intense.  At the beginning I got so angry with Jake that I had to stop reading and yes I know it is fiction but there are a lot of depraved, sadistic, evil men like Jake in every corner of the world.  Then I was so pulled into the story I couldn’t put it down. There is nothing pleasant about this story except for Hannah and Dylan and a surprise character to two.  We do get to know a little of Hannah’s background and it makes what Jake does even more horrifying.  Aiden comes through and I think he might turn out to be a Dom as there was a pretty big hint, I hope so he grew on me as a character.  For all the ugliness in this story it is still an amazing book and a must read.

I enjoyed all the previous books in this series in spite of my resistance to cliffhangers but Ms.Grant was gentle with me, she kept churning out the stories at a swift pace and kept my interest going. All the parts were great, each one told a story that you can't resist and this 6th book rewarded me with a wonderful ending and tied up all the answers in a nutshell. This one was particularly suspenseful, there were so many situations that made me feel so many things, with HATE being highlighted for the horrible man that is Jake. I was happy to see all the previous characters here to complete the story, Brianna, Marcus, Lucus, Tiffany and the added Dylan and Hannah to this finale.
The Well Deserved End, of Jake!!!!!

I swear, each book made me hate Jake even more, and I didn't think that it was possible, but apparently, it was. I am right with Lukus, Markus, Derek, and Dylan in wanting him to hurt and be gone. In fact, I volunteer to go pound the snot out of him.

I felt sorry for Hannah, since she really didn't have anyone to depend on before Jake got his grip on her.

I got really mad at all the guys except for Dylan. I saw everyone's POV, but that doesn't mean that I liked it.

I can't wait to see what happens next with everyone.

Definitely saving the best for last with Protecting It All.
Not going to say a word that might spoil this for other readers, but this is the book to cap the series off with a bang. Drama, sex, and all the feels are wrapped up in this story, and I couldn't put it down.
Highly recommended!

Sixth and final novella in the Punishment Pit serial. Told in multiple POV, it starts where book five Defending it All leaves off. It is very suspenseful and dark with sexual predator Jake and his sex trafficking businesses. All loose ends are tied up with HEA’s for multiple couples.

This book took me on one hell of a emotional journey. It was not a easy book at
times to read.It highlighted all kinds of violence related to women.A subject that is relevant in today’s society.Despite this, Ms Grant has written a psychological and darkly compelling story that will have you on a knives edge from beginning to end.I did not anticipate the depths of feelings that it brought up, and at times I just had to put the book down and walk away.

Hannah Martine had every right to be concerned about Jake Davenport.Something about him made her very nervous, but could he be the answer to her prayers. She had already experienced enough evil to last a lifetime, but Jake was the devil
reincarnated. He was brutal and twisted. Could she put her trust in Lukus and Dylan to help her have any semblance of a normal life.

Despite all of Lukus’s efforts,Jake proved to be slippery and dangerous. He continued to be pose a threat to Tiffany and Brianna Lukus had moments of doubt that what he did at the Punishment Pit was no different than what Jake did at his warehouses.

Aiden starts to realize that Lukus loves Tiffany, he still struggles with the image of his sister living the BDSM lifestyle with Lukus.I also enjoyed the budding relationship between Hannah and Dylan. She deserved happiness and a sense of safety.

Ms Grant set the plot in motion and built her words at a steady pace, and with great detail. This story will take your breath away and make your heart stop at times. She never fails to touch me deep down in my soul. This is why i am a die hard fan. This was an emotional read while still offering up enough for a happy ever after. My heart is so wrapped up with all of the characters in this book.I will be sorry when this series ends.

The final book of the series. If you thought any of the other books were intense, this one topped them all.

Jake's dark, sadistic, evil, almost demonic character was on full display in this book. How he treated Hannah, the Hole party, what he put Hannah's friends through was a kind of darkness that even surprised Lukus and Derek.

Dylan and Hannah finally connect. Probably not the way Dylan expected, and they had the opportunity to grow much closer. Hopefully they will get their own book. I get the sense there will be some interesting aspects to their relationship.

The entire situation with Mia and Lucy had me holding my breath. I never thought Jake would take it that far. If you weren't completely convinced that his previous actions were crazy, this book will convince you that he was evil and crazy.

The suspense with Lukus, Derek, Dylan, Z,and Cam trying to catch Jake was like a rollercoaster. It kept taking me to the top and perching at the crest again and again, never going over, until it finally did. Tiffany's brother Aidan seemed to make his peace with Tiffany and Lukus' relationship, through an interesting occurrence.

This book was so intense. Full of intrigue, suspense, danger, and action. The emotions ran the spectrum. Panic, fear, anger, embarrassment, and vulnerability. The love and care the couples had for their partners and friends was still at the forefront. I honestly picked the book up and stayed up all night until I was done at around 4:45am.

Believe it or not, there was an HEA the encompassed the entire group. I was exhausted by the time I got to the end of the book. Lol!

I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Livia Grant has certainly ramped up the suspense, danger and angst to make the main focus more of a dark, romantic suspense rather than the bdsm scenes the rest of the series has concentrated on. That's not to say there aren't elements there, just not on such a deep level. Together with book one, this was my favourite in the series, despite the despicable actions of Jake Davenport.

To warn you, there is a big step up in the darkness levels as the monstrous depths of Jake's evil depravity are revealed. It's not for the faint hearted and there are lots of potential triggers throughout.  The hunt for Jake is centre stage as is the budding relationship between Derek's brother Dylan and Hannah, who we met in the previous book. Jake has set his sights on her and Dylan is desperate to protect her, even if costs the team the mission to take Jake down.

I loved Dylan, he wasn't a dom but he had the same protective urges for Hannah. I completely understood his anger and frustration at being made to sit back and wait, especially when she was to be used as bait, when she'd already been through so much in her life. She was lovely, I liked her a lot.

Protecting It All was fast paced, action packed but brutally depicted at times. Livia Grant didn't hold back and it was hard to read at times, but the retribution I have craved since book one at the conclusion, was all the more satisfying for it.

omg what an ending!!! Lukus is still trying to prove he's worthy of being with & marrying Tiffany, Markus & Brianna are still getting used to their new BDSM dynamic in the marriage since he learned of her being a very BIG pain submissive, Jake is still at large, & Dylan, Derek's kid brother who served in the military, is starting to understand that what Jake does & what The Punishment Pit are 2 completely different things when he meets Hannah & wants to protect & care for her in ways he has never wanted to or can understand... Jake ends up kidnapping & stowing Tiffany & Brianna while Dylan, Hannah, & Lukus are in California trying to uncover & put Jake behind bars by sneaking out during a raid & going to Lukus' home where Derek & Markus are protecting the girls under the guise of a week-long (or longer) sleepover & Aiden (Tiffany's brother) & his partner do drive-by's while on duty to make sure everything's still good... Lots of action, tears in the end, & a really great ending (should be spoiler enough lol)... cant wait to see what's next for the crew & to also see if Dylan has more Dom in him than he realizes, especially since Hannah is submissive, & he can't see his life without her.. Keep it up, Livia Grant!!!!

An Interesting Turn – Great Finale!!

We still have our main characters in this story, but the focus is on the hunt for bad-guy Jake, and developing couple Hannah and Dylan. I’ve been @Team Lukus this whole time, but I may be @TeamDylan now.

Jake is pursuing Hannah who has just earned her Accounting degree, but still tending bar and working at a flower shop. When a personal interest does not tempt her Jake dangles an accounting job for Hannah.
Jake has many lucrative businesses on the fringe of the adult community. He also has unique requirements from his employees, and punishes severely any infractions to his rules.

Dylan is working to get enough evidence to put Jake away, and sees the danger Hannah is in. His interest is in Hannah started personal and gets deeper the more he is around her.

This one is grittier than the rest because Jake doesn’t hold with safe words or the consensual part of the lifestyle. This one is also faster-paced because the clock is running out! You literally will not be able to put this one down.

**I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book**

Protecting it All is the conclusion for all the couples we met in the series.
Finding and tracking Jake is everyone’s main priority.
Jake is not only obsessed with Brianna.
And Tiffany because of Lukas.
But he is totally deranged.
And things are about to explode in a big way!
Hannah and Dylan’s relationship also grows and blooms.
A lot goes on in this final book.
It’s edgy and the danger is always right there.
Giving the story a thrilling heart pounding effect.
This series was a bit of a rollercoaster ride for me.
Some books put me off.
While others had me totally invested.
This one is in the latter category.
My reasons for not liking all of the books in the series is the characters.
At times I found the men’s actions controversial for me.
I didn’t like how that went about certain things.
Their actions and reactions at some points had me cringing.
And as far as the female characters I found their actions at times just plain dumb.
Even though they are strong capable women.
Their choices, decisions and their actions had me questioning their intelligence.
This book is my favorite by far.

Me espantei qd ele não saiu voando do lofty.

Really good book with a great heroine. She not a kick ass type but she’s strong emotionally and mentally to live through horrors in her life twice. Once as a child and again with jerk Jake. She’s got people to protect just as much as she needs protection. There’s a ton of suspense, drama, angst and heart wrenching scenes. It’s steamy but beware this is not a book for the faint of heart. A vicious sadistic flesh peddler has Hannah and others and he’s not in it for romance or pleasure for them. Jake is a top notch villain. However we still get a Sweetly romantic ending HEA. I liked that we get justice and revenge. This is the end of the six part Jake based story but hang on- there’s two more books coming. Find out how Derrick and his Little wife deal with being parents , and a Lukus and Tiff wedding I think are in the works. Keep em coming- pun not originally intended but works for me . Definitely recommend this one.

Wowsers - talk about ending on a high note! I think this is my favourite of the series 😉 For newcomers please note, you need to read in order for things to make sense. This roller coaster of emotions series has concluded (for now) with plenty of drama and suspense and an Insta love story between Dylan and Hannah - who were the main focus of this book, although the old favourites are still there as everything comes to a head with evil Jake. I was on the edge of my seat towards the end wondering how things would pan out....would everyone get a happy ending or were there some sacrifices to be made? Will those guys be able to Protect it All? The path is certainly a rocky one and pretty gritty in places, reaching a very satisfying conclusion in the end. I’m delighted there’s going to be a spin off and can hardly wait for Expecting it All to land in December.....Livia, that teaser...! I’m hooked!

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

This first 6 books of the Punishment Pit series have been amazing! This book continues the saga of Tiff and Master Lukas, Bri and Markus, Rachel and Derek and brings in more about Dylan and Hannah introduced in book 5. The emotions alone in this installment are worth the read. It has sex, dominance, love but also hate, violence and trafficking. A must read if you have read the first 5, and if you haven't--start at book 1 and read them all. Totally worth it! This is NOT a cliff hanger this time, but to understand what is going on, best if read from the beginning. Reading the author notes at the end, we have more to look forward to at the Punishment Pit, but they are expected to be standalone reads. I am ready for more!

I was provided an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book starts out focused on the intense situation of Hannah and Dylan (who we met at the end of last book). It is much more harrowing and possibly triggering than the previous books as it deals with nonconsensual and harsh activities. So it may be difficult to read for some, but if you are willing to dive in, you are in for a continuation of this amazing world. I absolutely love both Hannah (so fierce and brave) and Dylan (a passionate hothead). Of course all the rest of our favorite characters are all here too. The action in this story is incredible and intense and will keep you on the edge of your seat. But what I’ve always loved the best about this series are the relationships. Ms. Grant’s writing always sucks me in and barely lets me go even when the book is over. Love. Love. Love.

I wish I could give this book and series so much more than 5 stars!

This is the final book in series and it was filled with suspense. The story takes a dark turn to show us twisted and depraved business world Jake created. He’s not giving up on having Brianna and Tiffany and Lukus and his team are working around the clock to stop him.

This book was as amazing as all the previous ones. I loved how everything came together in the end, it was a fantastic conclusion for the kinky quartet!
And I was so happy for Hannah and Dylan. Hannah was through so much and was so strong and brave. I would love to read more about their life in California!

I look forward to more books! Can’t wait to read Derek and Rachel’s story!

A thrilling ending to this season of The Punishment Pit! As well as seeing our favourite couples(Markus & Bri, Lukus & Tiff, Derek & Rachel), we get a more in-depth look at Derek's brother Dylan and Hannah (her backstory-wow!), and the deranged Jake Davenport. So much of this story was a nail-biter as the danger escalated. The threat of Jake has been present for the past 5 books and I was completely blown away by the breadth of his activities. It's funny, I hadn’t realised how tense I was feeling reading this series until the situation with Jake was resolved. Looking forward to Derek & Rachel's adjustment to parenthood. And dear author, I really hope we get to hear more about Mia & Lucy.

I received a copy of this book. My honest opinion is voluntarily provided.

This is not a story for the faint of heart. You pick up where we left off Dylan (Derek's brother) is still watching Jake in California and trying to get Hannah away fron him at all cost. Jake is depraved, a sadist a sex trafficker and wants Hannah to be his accoutant as well as his sub. Hannah will do anything to save everybody she loves but at what cost! Willhis obsession over Brianna bring him to his demise? After reading this series you realize that such depravity does exist and there are people who might need help to get out of this situation. The story is edgy, brutal, dramatic yet so real. I am honoured to have read this story and volunteered to review it.

Book 6 and the last book in this story arc. There will be some standalone books coming.

This book was filled with action and it becomes clear what Jake is up to and it is filled with horrors. It is a very intense read and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to see what would happen next. I was rooting for all our heroes and heroines.

The focus of this book is mainly on the new member of the team Derek and Hannah. I loved seeing how Derek ws trying to make sense of the different relationship and how that related to Jake.

This series was quite a ride and I look forward to reading more of these couples.

This book was an incredible, intense read, in which we found out exactly what Jake was up to, and what a dark, depraved and sadistic person he really was. Hannah became caught in his web, and after her traumatic introduction to his business practices reluctantly agreed to help Lukus and Markus get enough evidence to enable the authorities to lock him away. What she was shown and discovered at the ‘party’ Jake forced her to attend with him was mind blowing. I don’t want to give too much information as you really, really need to read this book, but in my opinion Jake’s end was too quick - his ending should have been very slow and painful!

PROTECTING IT ALL by Livia Grant

Livia Grant outdid herself on this series! Protecting It All is the final book of this 'Jake Davenport' series, and it did not disappoint. The story keeps up on high gear, and didn't dwindle like some last books can sometimes do. What a GREAT ending to a great series! The characters are strong, the storylines are solid. And I love me some Lukus! I would recommend this series to anyone who likes a great story, intrigue, lots of sass, love, fun, and some steam on the side. Winter is coming .. grab this series for those chilly nights and get toasty warm reading ♡

Heads up, this series must be read in order. Books 1 and 2 were the story of Brianna and Markus and books 3, 4 and 5 are focused on Lukus and Tiffany although Brianna and Markus do appear quite a bit. Book 6 is the final for now. We finally get the end of the Jake storyline and we get a new couple Dylan and Hannah. Since we get a front row seat to Jake’s twisted world in this book, I would say it is the darkest of the 6 books. We truly see his evil side in full color. I loved the way Dylan protected Hannah and the strength Hannah showed was amazing. I truly enjoyed the series and this conclusion was just perfect.
