Drowning in guilt, Sage Shepard and Brandon Tiggs have spent the last seven years blaming themselves for their post-graduation break-up. Brand numbs the pain by sleepwalking through his monotonous existence. Sage seeks solace in random strangers—names optional.

When Sage returns to the town she left years ago, she unknowingly walks right back into Brand’s life. Mid-divorce, Brand sees Sage’s return as the opportunity of a lifetime. But Sage doesn’t believe in second chances, and still hasn’t forgiven herself for the mistakes she made in the most important relationship of her existence.

A second chance romance that’s seriously twisted and I couldn't have loved it more!

“The familiar chemical scent of years spent in the water teased her senses once more, lulling her back to the days when she’d get lost in the smell of him, the feel of him, his love, his touch.”

I was truly ecstatic to be given the chance to read an Advance Reader’s Copy of Chlorine & Chaos, it’s the debut erotic novel and book one in a brand new series, Flawed Heroes from Jessalyn Jameson. I of course had read the blurb before going in, but that in no way prepared me for what lay within the pages of this book. Chlorine & Chaos is written in dual perspectives, giving us painful and heartbreaking glimpses into the past, while playing out in the present, and I can honestly say this book had me riveted from the very start. I burned through the pages, trying to navigate what was clearly more than just a sweet, and steamy second chance romance.

“The possessiveness she saw in his gaze made her flutter. The hunger made her knees weak.”

Sage Shepard is a young woman returning to the place of her past, after completing her training as a nurse. She’s conflicted not just because this place permitted her untold abuse and loneliness for years, but also because it’s the one place that has given her any real happiness, memories of her one and only true love. Bandon Tiggs is a man that has always had dreams of bigger things, than being stuck in the same town he grew up in, without the one and only woman he’s ever loved, the only woman who’s ever held his heart in her fragile and scarred hands. As fate would decide, Sage is back, starting her new job, in the very same high school she attended years ago. Walking these halls that first morning, the last person she could have hoped to come face to face with is the schools’ swim team coach, Brand, Brandon Tiggs. Within moments both Brand and Sage are propelled into the past, memories, sensations and emotions crashing over them with such fury, that they have no hope of escaping.

“Not ten minutes since returning to her high school, and she’d already reverted back to the lovesick teenager she once was. Except now, she had the added desire of a woman who knew what men could do for her…and none had ever
come close to Brandon effing Tiggs.”

This story is not one of hearts, and flowers, rainbows, sunshine or ponies. This story is incredibly realistic; it’s harsh, raw, unapologetic and dark fueled by lust, desire, regret, bad choices, secrets, pain, desperation, and deception. With two characters that have had great love in their lives, but also indescribable losses, they are far from perfect, but they own it. Sage has suffered most of her life with the struggle to overcome self-harming after suffering years of abuse, and brutality. Her memories are both her worst enemy, and her best friend. Her pain is testament to the fact that until you overcome the darkness of the past you’ll never be, able to move into the light move towards your future.

“Sometimes she was just tired. Tired of being strong. Tired of keeping it together. Tired.”

Having a front row seat to Sage and Brand’s pain is arresting, it’s brutal, my heart shattered for them, the two of them continue to make the most infuriating of choices, seeming determined to ruin their own happily ever after. When they are together, it’s explosive, untold passions, desires run rampant, an emotional connection that rocks your soul, but when they are apart, it’s pure chaos, chaos in their hearts and souls, and everyone within their wake.

“She’s consumed him then, and she consumed him now. He wanted to drown in Sage Shepard. And then drown again. And again.”

This story touches on some very sensitive subject matter, it’s intense, and shines a blinding light on the long term effects of abuse, both physical and emotional, and how it continues to affect the victim long after the actual acts have long since passed. It does so in a way that leaves the reader feeling just as raw and scarred as the survivor of the horrors that have come to pass. All that being said, it’s one part of the story. Chlorine & Chaos is fundamentally, a story of overcoming the seemingly unsurmountable, perseverance, healing, unyielding and unconditional love, and forgiveness of not only yourself, but others. It made me flustered, frantic, anxious, I was affected in a way that may not be considered normal by some, but I’m an emotional person, and an emotional reader, and when a story takes you to a place, that’s scary, sexy and unrelenting, it’s the best type of ride. It also has some of the most erotic, titillating scenes I think I’ve ever read. *wink *wink * blush* shiver*

“He wanted to play her body like a baby grand piano, caressing every delicate inch of her like her skin was actually made of ivory. He wanted to explore her, taste her, slide into her until he filled her, then push her past pleasure to the point of near pain. The point of no return.”

It’s beautifully written, while this may not be a book that’s light, fun and fluffy it is without doubt one of the best I’ve read this year, and becomes
an all-time favorite.

“Two souls meant to ricochet back to one another, pulled together by one tie that bound them against all others. Their love was infinite.”

Chlorine & Chaos takes you to uncomfortable highs and devastating lows, but this is where the magic happens. Jessalyn Jameson truly hit a grand slam, her first time at the plate. She also becomes an automatic one-click author for me I cannot possibly wait for her next book, in this series. I’m waiting, with grabby squirrel fingers, and crazy flailing Muppet arms, BRING IT!

This book is wrong in all the right ways. ^_^

The characters are drenched with personal history that's sexily tragic. You're rooting for them from the first page.

And Shades of Scorpius, the HEAT! You might want to read near a large body of water in case of combustion. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Well-written, emotional, and sexy, this is one of my favourite reads. Period.

Intrigued and enticed by some white-hot excerpts and teasers, I couldn’t wait to read Sage and Brand’s second-chance romance. Unfortunately, and despite of the “trigger warning” appended to the synopsis, I was stunned and unprepared for the darker than expected detours Sage takes on her way back to Brand’s heart. What begins as a romantic and sexy story—buzzing with promise—between two ex-lovers swiftly shifts into a painful and disturbing downward spiral of depression, promiscuity, and self-sabotaging choices.

For those readers looking for a cheery and traditional contemporary erotic novel, CHLORINE & CHAOS is not for you. For others who seek forbidden/taboo relationship erotica that also includes impulsive sexual encounters with strangers, near sexual assaults, physical abuse and a stream of menacing males, then this shaded melodrama is a compelling choice to add to your TBR list.

Bottom Line: CHLORINE & CHAOS is a challenging and entertaining read that contains some genuinely well-written and scorching sex, but, sadly, because of its prevalent disconcerting themes, is ultimately not for me.

Great read! I was hooked by the second chapter. The characters in this story faced real-world problems that had me rooting for them to succeed! I would recommend this book to all who love a good romance... But, especially those people who gave up on romance stories because the plots were too simple. You will love this book!

I was given and ARC by the author in exchange for my honest review.

"Chlorine & Chaos" by Jessalyn Jameson deals with some hard topics that most people refuse to acknowledge occur, but she weaves it so well into this story that all they bother me it's necessary to tell this story.

Sage was a goth/emo chick in school and Brandon was a swim team jock. She was from an abusive foster home and he was the town golden boy. They had a secret relationship all through high school until graduation when she left for college and he went on to marry his "public" cheerleader girlfriend. Seven years pass and the end up working at the same high school, she as a nurse and he the swim team instructor. No denying the chemistry is still there but will this destroy them completely this time? Is it possible to face the wrongs you do and move forward or do you just throw it all away?

So much raw emotion going on here and a very complex relationship that will take you on an emotional roller coaster ride and leave you wanting more!

18+ due to very adult situations, language, and subject matter.

CHLORINE & CHAOS is the first book of the Flawed Heroes series.
Chaos? YES! This book definitely lived up to it’s name. It certainly was chaotic! Sage and Brandon are childhood sweethearts. Well they were up until graduation. Both filled with insecurities and so much guilt on how each one had a part in their separation that neither of them never really wanted to happen. Luck is something that was never on their side but when they get that second chance, can they hold onto it?

‘..Because here she was. Back inside with the one guy she’d loved since she knew how to love. what the hell was she supposed to do with that?‘

When I first read the synopsis of this book I was quite excited and so intrigued! I knew I had never read anything like this before. So I was excited to I start reading it. This book is all about second chances. It’s about love. but it sure as hell isn’t easy, it’s a roller caster ride. It is definitely chaotic and gripping and definitely not a “hearts and fluff” type of story but it had it’s sweet and funny and hot moments too!

“Fuck, Brand, please don’t stop. It’s even better than I remember!”

I loved Jimmy! he is an essential character in the book that we meet- he is Sage’s brother. He steals my heart everytime he says something, everytime him and sage have a conversation, this book needed his character, needed his personality he was the light to the slight darkness to this book.

“Jimmy please sit down. You’re making me dizzy.”
“Oh no, sister, that’s the love making you dizzy”

This story deals with a lot more than just a second chance at love. It deals with very serious, very real issues and Jessalyn Jameson does it very well. I didn’t like the choices Sage made, I thought WHY??!! but I was never angry at her, I always sympathized with her, my heart hurt for her and that was something that surprised me because of the choices she made usually pisses me off but I just hurt for her instead. There was times in this book that you really don’t know where it’s headed and I am not used to that in a book. I love the push and pull between a couple in a book but knowing they will work it out but I just didn’t know in this book and my hand was itching to just skip straight to the end on my kindle to put mysel at ease because I was so anxious and so curious to how this was going to play out. However, I didn’t and I am so happy I didn’t ruin it for myself because even though it was an emotional ride, it was completely necessary.

The style of writing wasn’t my favourite. I love it when it’s the character your reading it through, like your hanging onto every word, experiencing it with the character. Whereas the style of writing Jessalyn chooses, is almost like a third-person writing it, your reading about them instead of with them, but that is just my preference and Jameson has written it so well the writing doesn’t matter as such! Some of the topics aren’t an easy read but so worth it! Even if I tried taking a break from it I couldn’t the story is compelling I needed to know what happened where the story was going to go.

As I mentioned before this is a series. The next book in the series is called WHISKEY BURNED, and will feature new characters and we get a glimpse into this story at the end of Chlorine&Chaos. This book reminded me of the ignite trilogy by Tara Sivec, although this was darker, in my opinion. so if you have read those books and enjoyed them I definitely think you will enjoy this one!

With the trigger warning at the beginning of Chlorine and Chaos, I was honestly a bit worried about reading it. (I even had two of my guest reviewers turn it down because of the warnibg...) However, once I got into it I kept would drink when the big bad flashbacks that were triggers were going to pop up....honestly, while there were a few abuse scenes there was nothing that was so in depth or so detailed that I had any issues or flashbacks of my own. I was quite happy about that, I loved how the sexual assault was left behind closed doors...mainly.

Okay, so now on to why this book only got 4 stars instead of the epic 5.

The characters are well developed and pretty realistic. The relationship flows okay...but there are some pretty annoying repeated issues for me.

Sage: I get that chick had a rough childhood and finds her solace in sex instead of cutting now....yay for her? What I don't get (as as past teacher and a parent) is how in the hell she can carry on a relationship of ANY sort with a student. I'm willing to look past that first time because come on, that wasn't her fault. Every other time ...well just shame on you! I found Sage to be a very indecisive, often whiney girl. I think what bothers me about this is that at times she is portrayed as this strong woman with a few issues from her childhood, bravo for her...but then she goes and does all this crazy stuff when she and a Brand have issues...ugh I just can't even...

How about Brandon?!?

That sexy ass man just doesn't know what he wants, or feels, or thinks....or anything! Hell he is just as bad as Sage on some fronts...although at least he feels the same way I do about the teacher - student thing!

The amount of flip flop between these two could give a reader whiplash!! This romance (if ya wanna call it that) was one emotional rollercoaster I was ready to end!

Now don't read that wrong...I really enjoyed the book. It was a well written interesting read. I just didn't enjoy the crazy ride it took me on lol

I felt like things weren't always balanced...

I went in to this book expecting to struggle through abuse scenes and instead found myself cringing at sex scenes that should have been awesome to read (because the writing is fan - freaking -tastic) but icked me out because it was a 26 year old and an 18 year old student....just...couldn't get into it!

Alright, I'm going to stop whining and give my overall recommendation that you read this book. Even with its issues it is definitely worth it!

I stayed up entirely too late reading this last night. Every time I'd prepare to stop for the night, something would happen and I'd have to keep going. I love Jessalyn's writing style. It's absolutely beautiful.

Sage is a hot mess, and I have to admit that I loved and hated that about her in turns. That's a good thing. Having endured all she has, I expected nothing less from her. Abuse isn't pretty and the long-term effects can be brutal. Sage is a perfect representation of this sad reality. She's flawed. She makes mistakes. She's realistic.

Brand is hot. He loves Sage and is very open about that fact. But damn, I wanted to shake sense into him and Sage both at various times. He, too, makes more than his fair share of mistakes.

I absolutely adore Jimmy. Kudos to Jessalyn for writing him so well. He's innocent in so many ways, and so wise in others. I just love him.

There were a few areas of the book that I had to fight through, not because they were poorly written, but because they were just painful to read. Artie for one. Leonard for another. Just grr.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book, painful parts included, and am looking forward to the next in the series. This was a very solid debut novel for Ms. Jessalyn. 4.5 of 5 stars.

This is the first book of author Jessalyn Jameson's Flawed Heroes series. It was introduced to me as an "erotic novel", which, of course, is a genre I have never read! However, I know the author, a sweet, beautiful, young woman who does possess a fiery, powerful spirit, so I rushed out to purchase it.

I will not go into the story much, except to say that this is not a "dirty" book. It is a well developed story of two very damaged people brought back together. I found both main characters to be well thought out and likeable. The story developed a little slowly but picked up steam and engaged me fully. It can be summed up by saying, "hurting people hurt people". I had a difficult time not sharing much of it with my wife, since she gets the book next!

Don't get me wrong, the erotic passages in the book were powerful and, well, erotic. However, I loved the story enough to give five stars, but the erotic was maybe two stars since I spent too much time wiping the tears from my eyes (allergies you know) after each new painful disappointment the characters suffered. I can't wait for the next book in the series!

Tragic. Heartwarming. Trigger warning for sure, but as someone familiar with one of those sensitive topics it wasn’t bad for me to read about. Jessalyn does give you a warning before so you don’t just jump into it without knowing what you’re getting into. It’s hard to write about those sensitive topics and I believe she pulled it off. The story was really sad but beautiful. Two people who have made so many mistakes and they have to fight for what they want. They have to fight for each other as well as their inner demons. The characters are well written and much like Whiskey Burned book two of the Flawed Heroes series (which I read out of order) they are so relatable. It is a fast and easy read that will keep you entertained and up way past your bedtime. It’s steamy, sexy and will have your blood boiling. I truly enjoy her writing and I’m happy I also have two more of her books waiting on my shelves.

Holy heck, that was one of the best books I have read in a while. And trust me, I read a lot of books. I love that neither Brand or Sage was perfect, but they are perfect for each other. Beautifully flawed. The writing was superb! Full of details, well developed plot and characters. Oh the characters. Some you will love,Jimmy, some you will sneer at, coach Simmons. Without giving away too much, I will say I am glad there will be book number two coming soon with Jake. I did wonder what the devil happened to Artie. I think there should have been some closure there. I was glued absolutely glued until the end of the book. Now I must have more!

This was my first read from Jessalyn and I absolutely loved it!! This is so much more than your typical second chance romance. I think I felt almost every emotion with and for the characters- love, hate, sorrow, anger and even pity. The story of Sage and Brand is tragic and beautiful at the same time. The title describes this story perfectly. Chaos. A heartwrenching chaos that makes you root for the couple and wish they'd just leave each other alone! Everything a good read should make you do!!
Highly recommend this book!!

Holy! Crap! This. Book. First, let me say I could not put this book down once I started it. It was my first read by this author but she is an amazing writer. Now let me say, this isn’t romantic or happy in the least. And I seriously hated the main female character. At the end, she gets her man but I don’t really know that I wanted her to. I’ll put this out there now too: the book leads with trigger warnings (in my opinion, the bits that led to the author adding the warning are short and to the point and don’t hold onto you, but they are there).

Ok, here goes:
This book frustrated the ever loving shit out of me. Why you might ask...
Well in this book you can find everything that I hate :
Drama, because of the lack of communication - check
Potentially great heroine thinking with her vagina, and sadly turned whore - check
Love triangle (or rather lust triangle) - check
And hero, who you don't know if you love, hate or pity - check
So here it is ladies and gentlemen, the reasons why this book wasn't for me.I'm disappointed.

This is the first book of Ms Jameson's that I have read. This is a fairly quick read. Now there are a couple of times during this book that I absolutly hated, but most of the is book a good read. This book deals with some real life issues that can be hard on everyone involved. Sage made some choices as an adult that I really had a hard time with. All in all this book is a second chance at true love and that road is not always and easy ride. 3.5 out of 5 Stars.

Sage Shepard and Brandon Tiggs had their epic high school fling, but that was YEARS ago. Things didn’t really end on a good note and both parties have spent the past seven years trying to get over it. Now, Sage is back in town and unintentionally walks right into Brandon’s life. She takes a job as the school nurse at her old high school only to learn that Brand is the swim coach at that very same school. Brand is in the middle of a divorce. But once he sees Sage, he is determine to win her back and right his post-graduation mistakes. Sage knows they have too much history to really make this work, but that doesn’t stop her from dreaming about being in Brand’s arms and working it out anyway. As their passion burns bright and their minds take the backseat, can Sage and Brand overcome their problems or will the past ruin their future?

I couldn’t help sympathizing with Sage from page one of this novel. She has been in such bad situations and you have to applaud her for overcoming that and making it through college. She broke out and did what she needed to do. She has my respect for that. She’s smart and devoted to her brother, making sure she can care for him they way he needs it regardless of her needs or wants. You kinda feel bad for her because she went from doing what her foster families demanded to doing what was required to keep her brother. She never really seemed to get a time when she was just living for what she wanted and needed. The only time she seems to get for herself are the moments she hits the bars looking for her next one night stand. Considering all the vices in the world, this one is not a bad choice. She makes a point always use protection and she’s a grown woman who is making her own choices, so more power to her. I still kinda feel like the poor girl needs a hug….and a lllloooonnnnnggggg vacation.

I was (kinda still am) on the fence about Brand. On one hand, he’s smart and sweet and hot and all that jazz. He obviously loves Sage and has made a point to watch out for her brother while she’s been gone, which wins him brownie points. But he’s a cheater and I have big issues with that. Every time I started to swoon over him even a little, that little voice in the back of my head yells “CHEATER! CHEATER!” and I’d lose a bit of that love that was growing. I understand that this was YEARS ago, but it still stayed in my mind. I get that Sage had reasons for wanting to keep their relationship hidden. The repercussions of putting that out in the open for her were unimaginable for teenage Sage, but that doesn’t mean Brand needs to stay with someone else. That doesn’t mean that Brand can’t just be “single” instead of stringing this poor girl along for years and years. That makes me think less of him. I had a hard time respecting him. I’ve been told (on numerous occasions) that I have very high standards and am not very forgiving and this is probably the best example of that. I can’t forgive that sin. Brand and Sage have that all consuming love/passion thing going on that we all dream about as teens, but that doesn’t justify hurting Rosie the way he does. Be a man and be honest. The fact that he goes on to marry Rosie, knowing that he doesn’t love her and probably will never love her? Well, that doesn’t help.

So, obviously, the cheating thing was a bit of an issue for me. I also got a bit tired of the strobe light relationship (that term was completely stolen from The DUFF film). There is quite a bit of history between these two and add to that the fact that they keep fucking up in present day, and it’s expected that there will be quite a few problems. These two are champs at avoiding them instead of confronting them head-on. While I can relate to that trait (procrastinators unite….tomorrow), by the third split, I was rolling my eyes a bit. Work it out or let it go! DON’T YOU DARE START SINGING FROZEN! I completely support the whole theory that happy endings don’t come easy, but it doesn’t make it easy for me to accept the on again off again thing. It’s probably because I’m not every forgiving, so I couldn’t see myself ever giving an ex a second chance. There was a reason we split up and that reason is probably still relevant now. Regardless of why, that and the cheating thing did bug me a bit.

Enough of what I didn’t like! Let’s have what I enjoy! The writing is amazing. The plot felt very put together and planned. And the chemistry between the characters was perfect. Then there was all the smut. I knew that part would be good Jessalyn (AKA Jessa Russo) wrote some pretty steam-y scenes in the Ever series and I was excited before I ever started this to see what would happen when we took away the limitations of writing for teens. Jameson manages to toe line between too little description and too much perfectly. I don’t know if that makes sense to everyone else. Let me try to say it different. With erotica romances, there are times I feel like things go too far. I want the smut. I wouldn’t have picked up an erotica novel otherwise, but I feel like a lot of them are over the top. Jameson manages to give me the smut I want without having it feel like a bad porn. Make more sense? Also, the heroine isn’t a stick! Sage has curves! I don’t think she was plus sized, but there was nary a mention of a toned tummy. In fact, there was one spot mentioning Sage being soft which made me smile!

Despite my minor issues, it was incredibly easy to get swept up in the story. I wanted to know more about Sage’s past and what happened to Brand after high school to lead him to his current career. I need to know what exactly happened when the two split for good. I need to know why Brand kept publicly dating someone else when he was clearly head over heels for Sage. Regardless of the genre she chooses to write in, Jameson’s work has that need to read quality that makes you want to forget the world for just one more chapter. What more could you really ask for? I’ll tell you what, you could ask for book 2! I’m certainly ready for it!

This was a great read full of amazing characters. Ellie, Jimmy, Artie, Sage and Brand/Tigg loved them all, even coach Simmons though he was always an idiot. Some (Brand/Tigg) had me loving him one minute, hating him the next, then thinking OMG! he's my favorite! I'm not one to give away spoilers but I will say my emotions were all over the place as these to damaged souls tried to find their way to their happily ever after. Here is the range I went though, Awww, Yes! What? No, Lord have mercy, are you kidding me? How Sweet! No no no don't do it, Sh*t!!!! Wow! YES yes yes! Damn! Get it together! GASP! PLEASE NO NO NO!!! Thank god! Sigh, It's about time, Sappy grin :) Needless to say I was exhausted when I finished lol Thank you very much Jessalyn this was a fantastic read and I loved the flow and style of your writing.

Some parts were a little slow moving but over all it was good.

Brandon Tiggs was a high school all star athlete who saw a girl one day and and fell in love. The girl just happened to be Sage. But Brandon and Sage could not be together. For more reasons than one. But there were people who always knew but never said anything.

Sage moved away after graduating and went to college. She promised to return one for her brother Jimmy. That day came but what it brought with it was a whirlwind of total chaos. There is plenty of heartbreak, heartache and wrong doings in this book. But will Sage and Brandon find a way to be together or is there to much between them?

I would recommend this book.

An emotional tug of war with the person your soul was meant for. Sometimes in life even second or third chances don't get things right, no matter how badly we want them. Sage and "Brand" think they are meant for each other, but outside sources disagree. Read this and see if things work out, or if they have to learn to grow up and let go of the love that has anchored them together since high school. This had me glued from the first page!

This was my first time reading a book by Jessalyn. I love her writing style!
Sage, Brand, 2nd chances, love, romance. With every page the story spoke to me & when I had to put it down it called to me.
Wonderful story, beautifully written!

Will love overcome their brokeness

Chlorine & Chaos is the first book in the Flawed Heroes series. It is an emotional roller-coaster second-chance romance between Sage Shepard and Brandon Tiggs. These two are both broken souls who may or may not be able to piece themselves back together when they meet and have an opportunity at a second chance with their first love. This story is a wringer so be prepared with a full tissue box and also something to squeeze tightly when you feel like screaming.

The writing was good and I was really starting to feel for the two main characters - but, ultimately, some of the choices that they made and the overall quick pace of the book turned me off. I felt like I only got half of the story and there just seemed to be a lot of unnecessary drama. I'm usually pretty ok with drama in my reading, but there comes a point when I just need there to be a tidily wrapped bow. The ending seemed far too abrupt and just "ok, that's it" as well

This is the 4th book I've read written by Jessalyn Jameson; I can’t wait to read more of her books.

This is the 1st book in the Flawed Heroes Series; it is a stand-alone book. The story is about Sage & Brand; they have both blamed themselves for their break-up seven years ago. When she returns to town he sees it as a second chance but she doesn’t believe in second chances. I loved the characters.

Chlorine & Chaos
Book 1 of Flawed Heroes
Jessalyn Jameson

Heartfelt, Heartbroken and Emotional. Sage and Brandon, high school loves reunite and the chemistry is still there. I enjoyed this read. It was a very emotional rollercoater but the book was well written and the characters were very relatable.

It kind of felt like binding 13 but make it adults, and honestly messier. Not my favourite but I did enjoy it.
