4.5 Stars for Silver a Spoon : An over 40 romance novel (Silver Fox Resort)
This is the first book I have read by this author but it certainly won’t be the last, I loved everything about this romance for the older generation, I was drawn to the blurb and I wasn’t disappointed in this story that captivated me from the first chapter to the last line.
Zoey and her siblings have opened the Silver Fox Resort to get a fresh start in life for all of them and that’s where she meets Nate Keller, the man who stole her heart all those years ago so is fate giving them a second chance at love. Nate is a world famous chef and he steps in to help Zoey and her family when they are let down by the chef they hired but one night of stepping I n to save the day doesn’t erase the hurt and the broken promises, so will Zoey and Nate get the HEA they so deserve, I guess you need to one click this gem to find that out.....
I’m really struggling to understand why I haven’t come across the very talented Ms Kelly before now and I will certainly be checking out previous works as well as more from the Silver Fox Resort, great job and can’t wait for the next book in the series.

A very chaste romance

Not my style. There’s a lot of unresolved sexual tension in the story but what made me dislike this was that it seems to go nowhere. A waste of my time.

5 Star Review Silver Spoon (Silver Fox Resort) by Lyz Kelley

Lyz Kelley is a new author to me and how I have not come across her before I have no idea. From start to finish I was riveted to this story and I cannot wait to read more books from this author in the future.

This is a second chance at love story, set in a small town that ticked the boxes for me. Zoey, her sister and brothers are re opening the Silver Fox Resort which will hopefully give them all a fresh start.

When Zoey comes face to face with Nate Keller, her first love she is shocked. Despite the fact that they were from opposite sides of the track, their young love was true. Torn apart by her father and circumstances, Nate left to attend culinary school, now he returns to town, a famous chef.

There were times that my heart almost broke for both Zoey and Nate, neither of them have been able to forget their first loves and now thirty years later, they have another chance. Can Zoey and Nate come to terms with their painful past and in doing so find themselves a second chance at love? I was really cheering for these two to get their happily ever after.
There are some twists and turns woven into this story and when long kept secrets are revealed, will it make or brake them? I loved the journey that Zoey and Nate embark on and the support and loyalty that Zoey and her siblings share was heart warming.

When Zoey and her siblings inherit the Silver Fox Resort from their father, she not only wants to re-open but she also wants to use this time to recapture the close relationship she and her siblings used to share. She wasn’t expecting that it would also re-unite her with Nate who was her first love even if he never returned her feelings.

Nate is a celebrity chef who is visiting with his father until he needs to leave to compete in a cooking contest. He has always had feelings for Zoey, but circumstances forced them apart when they were teenagers. When she needs a chef he agrees to step in temporarily and it soon becomes evident they are perfect partners both personally and professionally but with her roots firmly planted in town and his career and other obligations taking him out of town are they destined for heartbreak a second time?

This story not only includes complicated family relationships but a romance between two people who realize that what is most important is the love they have for each other and that everything else will fall into place.

Fell flat

While the story started out well enough, it just never picked up. I felt like there was a lot said but it was all over the place. Needed something more to keep me interested and involved.

The characters were supposed to be in their 40s, but the diaglogue was more like 25. I was really disappointed by that. Also, the timeline of their shared past didn't make any sense to me.

It is impossible not to love Nate and Zoey. Their story tugs at your heart, and engages your need to see them attain their own happily ever after. Zoey and Nate’s story is filled with past hurts, insecurities, family interference and missed chances. They were childhood friends despite their different social standings....she was from a wealthy family he was from a working class family. They both lost their mothers, she through a abandonment and divorce, while cancer claimed his mother. After the loss of their mothers, and their father’s drastic change in viewing life, both Zoey and Nate lost their rosy view of love and marriage. As teenagers they fell in love and had begun to dream of a future together, but after he left for culinary school, they lost all contact.

Now almost thirty years later, they meet again in their home town where she is struggling, along with her siblings, to get the resort her father left them up and running. She has become an expert in hospitality and business through the guidance (make that constant pushing) of her father. Nate has become a famous world class chef who wonders the world. Neither has ever forgotten their first love, or has had a successful romantic relationship since. Unbeknownst to her, Nate has flown half way around the world to be present for the grand opening of the resort, with the well buried hope of rekindling the love between them. As fate would have it, Nate ends up as interim chef at the resort for a short two weeks before he must leave again, while giving Zoey a chance to find another chef. Close proximity brings back those old feelings and attraction with a vibrant intensity, but Zoey struggles to keep her heart protected, knowing he will leave her again. She is stunned when he reveals her father’s role in the directions their lives have taken since they were teenagers. When her mother reappears, old insecurities and hurts resurface and more long held secrets are revealed. Her family urges Zoey to give her heart to Nate (who has another secret not yet revealed), but he is still leaving, and doesn’t know when he will be back. Will they fight for a second chance at a future together, or let doubts, insecurities, and misguided loyalties separate them again?

This story has a few unexpected twist and turns that make it even more captivating. I loved the romantic journey of Zoey and Nate, as well as the family dynamics between Zoey, her siblings and their mother. I admire the siblings loyalty to each other and the way they support one another. I can’t wait to read Sam’s story. I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

SILVER SPOON is the first instalment in Lyz Kelley’s contemporary, adult SILVER FOX RESORT over 40, romance series focusing on the Foster siblings. This is resort manager Zoey Foster, and award winning chef Nate Keller’s storyline.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Zoey and Nate) SILVER SPOON follows the rebuilding friendship and romance between forty-somethings resort manager Zoey Foster, and award winning chef Nate Keller. Zoey Foster has one goal-to reopen her late father’s Silver Fox Resort, and in doing so reuniting her siblings but Zoey never expected to come face to face with her teenage crush, the man who broke her heart, and ripped it in two. As a teen, Nate Keller worked the Silver Fox Resort but falling in love with Zoey Foster was out of his control. Years later life, love, loss and professional success would bring Nate Keller full circle and back to the resort he worked as a boy. What ensues is the rebuilding romance and relationship between Nate and Zoey, and the potential fall-out as Nate’s time at Silver Fox Resort comes to an end.

Nate Keller is only in town for a few weeks but he never expected to be working at Silver Fox Resort when the chef they hired refused to work with the local cuisine. Rekindling his friendship with Zoey Foster meant dredging up the past, a past Zoey knew nothing about. Zoey Foster struggled in the aftermath of her father’s death but battle between head and heart as it pertained to the mother that she accused of abandoning her years before. As Zoey’s relationship with Nate comes with an expiry date, too many heart breaking memories of loss threaten Zoey’s well-contained order and control.

The relationship between Zoey and Nate is a rekindling friendship; a second chance romance that never came to fruition years before. Zoey and Nate have never forgotten about the summers spend together but our heroine never understood why Nate kept his distance and refused to take the next steps into something more.

We are introduced to Zoey’s siblings: Sam (Samantha), Cade, Steel and their mother Victoria, as well as Nate’s father Doug Keller, and Nate’s son Connor.

SILVER SPOON is a story of family, friendships, relationships and love; a story of misunderstand, miscommunication, betrayal and heart break. The character driven premise is sweet, engaging and inviting; the romance is passionate-there are no $ex scenes; the characters are charismatic and animated. SILVER SPOON is a heart warming look at second chances, romance and love.

40+ romance - where the characters have lived a lot and come out the other end. Mistakes have been made but their is still the chance for a HEA.

Zoey is determined to finish up the resort that her father started building before he died. She sees it as an opportunity to bring her brothers and sister back together. If only she can get them on board. When the opening is at risk of being a huge disappointment, Nate steps in to save the day with his amazing chef skills. Nate is the boy who got away from Zoey when they were younger and she never truly forgot him. Nate is more than just a chef though - he is world renowned but only passing through. Nate's revelations about her father starts Zoey down a path of discovery that he was not really the man she thought he was.

I loved the strength that Zoey showed in getting the resort open and her determination to keep her family together at all costs. I did not like the way she made assumptions about Nate based on their past and their meeting again in the present - it showed a slightly snobbish side to her that was not flattering. However, this doesn't last long and she is not afraid to admit it when she is wrong. Nate drifts from place to place making a career for himself as he has never really had a place he can call home or a purpose to settle down.

I really enjoyed this book. The chemistry between these two is there right from the start and only builds the more they spend together. I am looking forward to reading more about this family as they overcome their past and work for their futures together.

All Zoey wanted was to bring her siblings home to reconnect and make the Silver Fox Resort everything their dad would have wanted and more. She wanted to fulfill each of their dreams and worked tirelessly to that end. Never did she expect to see Nate at the grand opening. They were teenage sweethearts at sixteen and he was the only person who supported all her dreams, even back then, but personal circumstances separated them until their forties. Nate's now a world renown chef and comes to her rescue as her chef walks out on opening day! Is he here to fulfill her dreams?

This second chance story is beautifully told with Lyz Kelley's descriptive, loving, emotional, and sometimes humorous, dialogue. At times they can almost finish each other's sentences. That's how connected they have always been. I loved the evolution of their romance and the way in which they were able to talk so honestly, and so respectfully and unselfishly want only what's best for the other person, in spite of the heartaches their choices may cause. I just felt so much empathy for Zoey. I also loved how Nate showed his love for Zoey in all the special food "touches" he makes for her. And how about that cover? This chef is just " yummy " so I'd like to make a reservation at the Silver Fox Resort!!!

There are a few twists and turns near the end of the book that really change Zoey and Nate and are a perfect springboard for sister Sam's story in the next book. I enjoyed this story so very much and look forward to reading all the books in Lyz's new series!

Silver Spoon: An over 40 romance novel (Silver Fox Resort) by Lyz Kelly is the story of Zoey. She has done everything her father has asked of her. Now he is dead and she wants to bring his dream to fruition and her siblings together. Nate has loved Zoey since she was 16 but her father kept them apart. Now a famous chef he comes home in hopes of seeing her again. Zoey has heen hurt and used by men and is sick of them. Nate has a divorce under his belt and a grown child. Love is the last thing he wants. However the feelings they had for each other have not gone away in these many years. This was my first time reading this author. She does have a distinct way of telling a story. I enjoyed the type of love the 2 shared. It was more emotional than physical. The interaction between siblings was a great set up to their own books. Each sibling has an interesting story. How could they not with a controlling, dominating father and a mother who walked out on them when they were young. It did take me awhile to get through this book. Despite that fact, l loved reading about Zoey and Nate's journey to a HEA. A really good start to this series. A bonus was an sneak peek at the next book. I am truly looking forward to Sam's story. 4 stars for me.

Zoey thinks that she has inherited a resort from her father and she is hard at work to try and make it into a five star all encompassing get away place where people can come and mentally heal. She has invited/coerced her three siblings into coming back and helping her giving each of them their own domain to oversee. Zoey runs into Nate who at one time was her best friend and first love when he shows up at her grand opening and offers to help out in the kitchen when he finds out that the chef she had hired is throwing a temper tantrum. Nate winds up consenting to help Zoey for the next two weeks with cooking and finding another chef. Zoey and Nate's rekindled friendship starts to become more involved, but will they be able to overcome past hurts and betrayals. This book is that start of a series and I think it is a good beginning. I love Ms. Kelley's books and how she gets you interested in her different small towns and the folk that reside there.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Lyz Kelley is an author who always adds a special heartwarming spin on any of her stories, and Silver Spoon is no different. Zoey & Nate dreamed about a future together when they were younger, but not everyone was happy about them especially since she was from a wealthy family while he was from a working class family. It completely ended when he left for culinary school, and nowadays, he's a world class chef, while she's trying to get the resort that her father left her & her siblings up & running. Little does she know that Nate is going to be there for the opening, and even more unexpected, he ends up saving their bacon when he was able to run the kitchen until she found someone else. All those past feelings are coming in hot, but they have an expiration date which has Zoey desperately trying to protect her heart, while secrets are being revealed. Can these two people, who are perfect for each other, work it out for a second chance?! Hit those one click buttons to find out! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

Just one more chance, a rerun at life...

Sometimes you find yourself in the middle of nowhere, and sometimes in the middle of nowhere, you find yourself. All Zoey wanted was to bring her family all together into her dream of putting Silver Fox Resort on the map. This was her vision and she worked tirelessly and sacrificed her personal life to see it through. But her past caught up with her when Nate her love from years ago shows up.

Nate, the one boy who understood who she really was and supported her in all of her dreams. But Nate was now a man and all grown up and boy was he gorgeous. He was now a world-renowned Chef to boot. She could always trust Nate but he left her broken hearted when they were both teens.

This story of second chance romance between these two captured me from the start. A beautiful loving growing romance between an older couple. They lost something along the way only to gain something everlasting.

A sweet romance story, with a twist. The characters were sketched out for the most part with exception being the protagonists who were well developed. I was definitely left wishing there was more backstory on some of them. A story about second chances in love and with family

Zoey takes over putting her fathers project of creating a world class resort for her own reasons. She’s hoping it will keep her siblings together and settled in one place. Her teenage crush that she’s still in love with shows up to see what she’s accomplished and ends up helping her when there is a crisis at the grand opening. To throw another wrench into the mix her estranged mother also arrives.

I received an arc of this book and voluntarily provided a review.

I’m a sucker for a second chance. I always have been, and I probably always will be. That these are characters that have a little bit more mileage behind them, makes their story extra special to me. Zoey has always loved Nate, even though she tried hard to get over him. Nate made some disastrous choices in his bid to get over Zoey all those years ago. Her father’s death and his own personal success have produced the conditions to bring this pair back together. This book is filled with family drama, but there’s also so much love and humor. I’ve been (im)patiently waiting for this series to kick off, and now I can’t wait to get my hands on the rest of it.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.

Silver Spoon is the first book by Lyz Kelley that I have read and I can definitely say that I am now a fan! This book definitely checked off all the boxes for me! It is a well written story that I enjoyed from beginning to end with interesting, mature characters that were so easy to like.
Zoey and Nate knew each other growing up but went their separate ways. They never had a romantic relationship back then but they did have something special. Now, they are both back and there is a sizzle in the air, but they have a few obstacles to overcome before they can finally find their happily ever after.
This is the first book in the Silver Fox Resort series and I can’t wait to read the rest of the books coming next!

First off, kudos to the author for writing a story of a 40+ couple. As a middle age woman, I truly appreciate it.
This first story in the series takes us to the new Silver Fox Resort and introduces owner Zoey.
Her main goal is to reconnect with her family .
Little did she know that she would be reconnecting with her young love, Nate. Now a reknown chef.
When he hears Zoey is opening the resort, he’s curious to see Zoey and the resort. She is not only is surprised to see him, but he comes to rescue her in the time of need.
This is a sweet, and touching story about second chances in life and in love.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Worth your time and money!

This is another example of a talented storyteller telling a story worthy of both your time and money. It has characters that are down to earth and enjoyable to learn about. It has a storyline that I liked exploring.
I have read each offering this author has put out into the world and have no problem recommending you purchase and read this book, as I too have invested both my time and money for this book. I did this even though I was given the book as an early release to read and review for free, I purchase my own copy to support an author who always delivers a quality story that I am glad to have read!

A refreshing new angle of finding love when over 40 yrs. old & being single. Zoey & Nate were meant to be when they were young adults but for reasons unknown during that time, they followed different paths. Nate has returned home 20+ yrs later & their feelings are still strong. It's like no time has passed when they re-unite again. She learns the truth of what happened years ago. Tough decisions lay ahead for these two as to whether they can get back together to have their HEA or if they are too set in their ways while on their own.

I volunteered to read this ARC & leave an honest review.

Childhood love comes full circle

Zoey has gotten her family back home so they all can run The can all have a part in running the Silver Fox Resort, the property they all loved. This place holds good bad memories for them all. The week of the resorts grand opening is full of surprises, zoey runs into Nate a childhood friend & love of her life who left without a word. Then her mom walks into the inn, if that wasn’t enough the chef walks out minutes before the reception is to begin.....you will be shocked when you find out who saves the day. This series has been a breath of fresh air, I’m so happy I stumbled upon it even though I read it out of order.

I so enjoyed reading this book. With the older couple, showing you can find love anytime in your life. Never give up. Nate and Zoey knew each other when they were teens. Now both families still live in the town and then meet again. Zoey has brought her family back to help build the family legacy's resort. Nate is visiting his father and taking a little break from working as a world famous chef. Seeing each other again they both feel the pull. They both want to find out if they can rekindle the feelings they had when they were teens.

Silver Spoon is about second chance at love. I enjoyed this book. It finally good to read about finding love later in life. Zoey and Nate are in their 40s when they are finally given a second chance. Zoey liked Nate when she was a teen but it appeared that he didn’t feel the same. Later Zoey finds out that things were not what they seemed and that her dad wasn’t as innocent as she thought. I am looking forward to next book in this series. I recommend this book for those who are tired of only reading about teens/young adults finding love.

I was recently offered the opportunity to read this book to see what I thought of over 40's romances. I was hooked in the first chapter. I loved that Nate and Zoey were older when they could finally act on the love that started when they were teenagers. Lyz Kelley has an easy to read style that encompasses all the emotions and makes the reader feel like a participant in the story. The cast of characters each have interesting personalities and I look forward to many of them having their own stories to tell in future books. Definitely recommended.

I love the idea of love stories of characters over 40 - we can't stay young forever! There's hope out there!!

Zoey and Nate's story is one of family, dedication, past hurts, and future dreams. This is second chances in life and love - written so well by Lyz. The emotions reach you through each word and every page. There are laughs, tears, romance, revelations, and deep abiding love.

This is a great start to the series - can't wait to see what happens next with Sam!!

Zoey Foster is trying to make the Silver Fox Resort a world renowned business with her family each having their own special part of the Silver Fox Resort. She's closed off her heart to love until her childhood love comes back for her grand opening of the resort. Nate Keller is a top notch chef competing around the world and doing rather well for himself. You'll fall in love with the characters and storyline. A sure 5 star read!

Silver Spoon

This was a moving, sweet romance between two over 40, successful people who realize that if they just open up their hearts more everything can be part of their lives. They start out very cautious and reluctant, but are able to open up with the help of family and friends. This is a very real book, with things most of us recognize, and it is heartwarming to read about their lives and cheer them on as they find a lasting love!

Never too old to finding love again.

This was a surprise to read. Thought with the name it might be about finding love in our later years. It was an enjoyable read. Looking forward to seeing how well Sam makes the discovery. Story told with no profanity laced expressions. I am sure the rest of the stories be will be about the other siblings. Can't wait to read their stories. Thank you, Ms. Kelley.

Chef

The beginning of an interesting series. The secrets have begun to unravel. Was her father actions a controlled learning or preparing for life? Zoeys need to please him to earn his respect and love made her formidable. Her wanting her siblings near,(here) was what she needed to have peace and family. Nate was a constant memory of lost childhood love that never had a chance. What now?
