Grandma is in trouble and she expects Jill to drop everything in order to help. That’s easier said than done because Jill is already busy working on two other cases. Meanwhile, Winky seems to have pirates on the brain. And why is that squirrel following Jill around?
Kathy is ready to open another bridal shop in her series. Jill's grandmother is brought into the police station for questioning about a shop owner who was murdered. She, of course, expects Jill to get her out of the mess.
Winky is dressed as a pirate and has a new girlfriend.
There's a problem with a celebrity look-alike business that seems to be undercut by a similar business and Jill looks into that. The Queen of the Unicorns has a major problem and Jill is going to have to prepare for a tax inspection. If that's not enough for her Daze and Blaze discuss potential problems with her grandmother's hotel for sups in a human-only area.
Mr. Ivers has yet another job and Jill is having some trouble getting Florence to learn when it is and when it isn't proper to use magic. Martin warns Jill about a very dangerous person that actually isn't dead.
It's a busy and a fairly well-balanced addition to the series. The difficulties getting Florence to learn the proper timing in the use of magic is very believable.
These pages turn as easy as drinking a glass of water. The author's writing is even getting better. There was not one thing that I did not like about this book. It's. Interesting, and exciting ,and keeps pulling you through the story, until suddenly, you're done and you are disappointed that the book is over , but Since there is another one coming right afterward, I am appeased.
Abbott #45 Witch PI #39 I completed the first Witch PI mystery on February 1 2023, according to my Goodreads log, and have now reached book #39 (Or Season #4 Book #3) and it was again a great yarn, with a number of mysteries and the continued expanding and world building that has happened. The overarching theme of this 'season' continues with trouble ahead looming, and it has been great to see the development of all the different characters. Book #40 is up next!
Always a cute story! This time Jill has her work cut out for her. A squirrel, a unicorn and sweetheart fairies will keep her busy along with her husband and daughter. Of course grandmother also needs Jills help. Can't wait to see how things pan out in the next book.
Part 39 of Jill's adventures as she struggles her life as a PI , being a Witch & leading a normal life. As always you can expect a lot happening, grandma causing bother, as usual. This time she's a suspect in a murder case & expects Jill to sort it out. At her own expense, of course. Winky is up to his usual antics too& has Jill over a barrel in joining him at a fancy dress competition. Florence is getting also more apt at using magic & poor Jack, well , what can I say? Someone unexpected also makes a reappearance, you have to read the book to find outwho it might be, perfectlysettingthestage for the next book... And don't forget the squirrels...
Adele Abbot's books are silly and ridiculous. It's like eating cotton candy, you get sick of them pretty fast. They are short and mindless reading. If you know what you are getting into, you'll be fine. There's nothing wrong with a bit of silliness now and then, but don't expect literature here.
This was so much fun. My my little miss Florence you are a handful. As always the twists and turns were so good! Martin is back and with news to make ones hair stand straight up.
Jill has her hands full with solving a case for grandma, helping Winky win a pirate contest, help a "lookalike" business from failing and keeping her precocious daughter's magic in check! And also payment for some fairy C.I.'s in Custard creme and Ginger Nut!? Lots of fun reading this book!
This boom is once again filled with loads of fun and adventures! Why are the squirrels staring at Jill? Who is stealing horns from the unicorns? How can she prove who is undermining the Double Take business? It's a must read!!
I enjoy these Witch P.I. books! I love to read something that takes me away to fantasy land! I've never been bored with Jills' adventures! I look forward to the adventures with her Daughter in the future! It's already showing what fun it will be with Florence!
Another fun read in the saga of Jill and family. Good to see there is another twist involving a mysterious wizard to keep things truly interesting. Love this series
These books are brilliant, even got my mum reading them, she says that the only reason she reads them at all is because of Winky, cos if the banter that goes on between him and Jill... apparently it’s all very amusing
Adele Abbott never fails to impress. The Witch P.I. series is always a thoroughly entertaining read. Witch is where Squirrels go Nuts is no exception. if you have read the earlier books then you can't help but enjoy this. Clever story, very amusing and lots of fun. Hard to put down.
In the beginning of this series of books we had Jills sister Kathy who was pretty vile and irritating - She has slowly become better and less annoying. Now however we have the, bratty spoilt and most over indulged , entitled annoying kid ever . I fail to find anything likeable about Florence.
The books themselves are fluff , I get that .Cozy mysteries aren’t supposed to be too deeply thought about , just light reads and a bit of escapism. This lacked just that though , it wasn’t cozy , it was boring and the kid was trying.
I’ve read them all - Im on 40 now so can’t be all bad right ? I have a-lot of stamina when it comes to epic series’. I enjoy the character building and when a new one comes out its like revisiting old friends . However , there is just something about this very last book that just left me flat! It was dull & tedious.
Jill didn’t really have any closure with any of the cases , the twins made a brief appearances, grandmother & winky ( my favourite characters) barely featured, Where was Aunt Lucy s Husband ? Jill’s nieces and nephew and brother in law didn’t even get a mention ! So much was wrong with this instalment, i just don’t have the energy or the inclination to list them all .
Perhaps Ive just become tired of this series now ! I read them in between more challenging literature & when I need a cleanse and thats fine , but when I start to find myself frustrated with a character in mediocre fiction , maybe its time to move to a newer cozy.
Not as good as some of her other Witch P.I. books. This one was slow moving, but still ok, and I did enjoy it. The ending was surprising, and that's all I'll say. Never want to give away too much in case you haven't read this one yet.
