The King and The Prince

Rate this book
King Harrison, horrible brother, okay son, terrible at relationships. That’s me. My life imploded, my love gone and my sister missing within the same week. At arms with our former ally, King Charming, and an early rise to the throne, I found myself falling into a life of depression and complacency. I see no way forward and have no desire to find one, living day by day only, doing what is best for my Kingdom. The sudden reappearance of my sister, Princess Gertrude, flips my world on its axis for the first time in four years, setting off a chain of events I had only hoped for. Love conquers all, but will it be enough to give me strength to accept who I am? Will the Court riot as I have feared, or will I get my own Happily Ever After?

M/M forbidden royal romance

Heidi grew up in south west Sydney, Australia, and now lives in Queensland with her marvelous Husband, Hayden and their Daughter, Artemis. Heidi is 29 and is also a dog mum to beautiful loving Labrador, Daisy.

Heidi is a self-published best selling author, with 5 years since her first book was published, and a total of 8 published books so far, Heidi writes all kinds of Romance. She fell in love with happy endings as a child, and has chased them ever since. Having dyslexia, Heidi had difficulties learning and maintaining the standard literacy and numeracy requirements in school, until she found her love for reading. It all started with a cringe worthy obsession over a certain Edward Cullen (no regrets), which has fuelled Heidi to go on to reading 200+ books a year. With a passion for reading, Heidi began writing short stories, which led to her writing her first book in 2019.

She has been an attending author at several book signings, including BABE 2025, Books-in-Sight 2025 Melbourne, Newcastle Book Boyfriend Event 2024, and Love on the Beach 2024; with more book signings coming up in the future! Check it out on the Events page!

This book was Unbelievable and I couldn’t put it down, it kept me up till the wee hours of the morning it’s that good. Normally I don’t read books with m/m but I have to say it was brilliant and I love all the characters that carried over from the first book to this one. Harrison and Ambrose’s story is one that is still relevant and problematic to this day as it was back then, but Harrison who is now King after his parents died from broken hearts because his sister went missing 4yrs ago and so he still denies his love for Ambrose because he thinks his people will not understand him being gay. And Ambrose keeps fighting for the man he loves with his whole heart because he believes they can have a future together if only he would try. With opinions coming from every direction on how he should live his life Harrison is at breaking point with his sister sudden return it’s been a long time coming. How does it all turn out in the end I’m not telling, but get this book to find out you will not be disappointed.

This is the story of Ambrose and Harrison, princes from rival kingdoms who have secretly been in love with each other since they were teenagers. The premise is awesome, but the actual product doesn't always live up to its potential. The writing feels slightly stilted: the diction can be awkwardly formal and then weirdly casual, and verb tenses change within sentences without rhyme or reason. The romance, for all that it's supposed to be sweet, is creepy around the edges-- their physical relationship begins when one is 14 and the other 17. Harrison is also a thoroughly useless human being: he's passive and timid and pretty much does whatever anyone tells him to do, while Ambrose works hard for a chance at a relationship that frankly, doesn't seem worth it. Tldr; not really for me.

This is an enjoyable fantasy romance with beautiful world-building and descriptions, and complex characters. Harrison unexpectedly became king when his parents die early from grief at losing their daughter. Harrison is in love with Ambrose, but he denies himself and his feelings, because he fears his people cannot accept who he loves. As king, he must put his people first before his own needs and happiness. I loved the characters, especially Ambrose's perseverance. When Harrison's sister returns, he might finally have the chance to pursue his own happiness, but will he take it? Harrison must overcome his doubt and uncertainty if he is to have his HEA.

They say heavy sits the crown, or something to that effect and it is no less true here. Harrison has acquired the throne much too soon when his parents expire of sadness when his sister goes missing. And he cannot even share the burdens of leadership with the love of his life, Ambrose, because he does not feel his people will approve. When his sister returns suddenly hope comes with her. Will Harrison and Ambrose be able to share their lives openly? I encourage you to read this to find out. It is worth the time.

Amazing second book

Well I fell in love with the first book and Heidi set a high bar with that, I’m pleased to say that this book reaches that same bar. Harrison and Ambrose are both characters that are easy to love, with a story that flows perfectly and doesn’t miss a beat there is nothing that you can’t not love about this book.
I would love to know more about Joseph he seems like a very interesting character and maybe Heidi can come back and revisit him. I really am left a little speechless on how to write this review because the book was just that great and I don’t want to give spoilers. Just know that this book deserves more than 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is a well written book with strong ,well developed characters in Harrison and Ambrose. The author does a great job building their story and describing both her characters and scenes perfectly in vivid detail. She deals with drama and an issue still around today and handles it beautifully. It's a heartfelt love story , moves fluidly and is an enjoyable read.

Really enjoyed this second book from this new/young author. It ties in well with the first one and as a follow on.
Easy read that takes you into the book/story, there’s a story line not just the sexy bits
Definitely an author to watch, look forward to seeing what comes next

An amazing sequel that carries on from the first book. This author is up and coming and I cannot recommend them highly enough. This book talks about an issue that is still-unfortuately- common in our current world.
This historial fantasy tackles challenging subjects with a unique perspective.

This story was more to my liking than Harrison's sister's story (that just doesn't look right! ;p), but I feel that this author just isn't for me. Their writing style just didn't click... but I am glad to see that they are getting much deserved praise from other reviewers! :D

I love mm versions of fairy tales. The author, HL Muller, had an interesting and unique take on the fairy tales classics. But it didn't captivate me as much. There are better ones out there.

This was okay. I didn't get feel emotionally connected with the characters for some reason. Even though this was a short book, it was difficult for me to finish. I had to keep reminding myself that it was a book that I needed to finish reading.

note: I didn't read the first book of the series.
